Just got this retractible micro usb charger for like 6 bucks and i gotta say this thing rocks. Even under load with gps and full bright the nexus charges FAST!

Now that's a sweet find.
yesterday my phone was at 65%, I needed to use google nav cuz i had no clue where this place was, it was pluged in ofcourse, one hour later when i got there, my battery was at 68% and i thought... Ive got to find some way to charge this faster, and bam here I am.
So i just bought it, and realized its from hong kong, how long did shipping take for you? Whenever i order anything from hong kong it takes like 3 weeks.
Motorola P513.. $12 shipped, arrives in 3 days. It works great, it'll work for a long time, has a good cable, connector... And more likely outputs 5V, etc..

My point is bad chargers do not properly regulate voltage. That clear enough now?

I purchased both wall and car chargers that were Qualcomm 2.0 quick charge technology compatible and both utilize the quick charge capabilities of the S6 flawlessly.

I bought the Aukey. I only tried it once so far, but it works exactly as advertised. It shows up on the phone as a fast charger. It is a bit heavier than I would like, but I won't be carrying it everywhere, so.
Even with the same cable, recharging the Aukey took a lot longer than charging the phone. I don't know if that's weird or too be expected.

Well the Aukey is 10000mah and the phone is like 1/5 of that so it should take longer to charge.

The Aukey is getting charged with maximum 2 Amps on 5V if it the advertising is correct ,, personally i think it is 1.0A on 5V and your phone got charged with quick charge which is faster , also if you take efficiency into consideration , if the Aukey where to deliver 2000 mah to your phone then it will consume at least 2500 mah to do that .
Aukey will be available April 20. I put my order in on amazon.
BTW, you can fast charge the Aukey if you're getting slow charge times.

Just got this bad boy, so far so good, two charging ports, 1 @ 2.1Amps, the other at 1am. The 2.1Amp side charges pretty fast. Not the cheapest but looks like good quality

So the Aukey arrived and yes it does fast charge (says so in the pull down).
It's a little heavy and the plastic finish on both sides is slightly scratched (only noticeable) under light, but it seems to be the product to get right now.

The Aukey is a rip off of the Unu battery chargers. The Unu can fast charge for certain. I've had it for months now and love it.

Hi guys. Moto G 2015 has a Snapdragon 410 which support quick charge 2.0 but the smartphone doesn't support that feature. There's any trick to enable it? Thanks

The SoC supports up to QC 2.0, but the charger IC Moto used doesn't.
The max you will get is 800mA.
Cheap Moto could at least used a simple QC 1.0 charger IC compatible up to 1500mA, but no.
You got the cheaper of the cheapest...

I recently purchased this device and it arrived with no charger at all, probably removed because it was garbage? I have two chargers that can be used, one is a now several years old HTC One m7 charger which outputs 1A and has QC 1.0
The other is a Google Chromecast 2nd generation LPS supply with 1A and probably not QC 1.0?
Either way, what I have been hearing is that people either get two or four hours+ of waiting in order for it to be charged up. Since both are above 800 mA (assuming this is the true max current) then I wonder if there could be a difference between these two. If there isn't then of course the newer one is safer to use as it has not got the years of wear the HTC One m7 have done to it, but that would cost me quick charge. Buying new brand USB chargers here with ~2A can cost 30 dollars so want to avoid it

Doesn't matter hoe much your charger can put out, the device chargng IC will only drawb800mA max.

Ah, I see, so QC 1.0 is just another word for max 800 mA and there is no "chargers" with this feature? Thanks for clarifying.
Old thread I know, but I'd like to share that, depending on cable and charger, my moto G3 charges at almost 1A (970 mah) when its battery is under 60%. Then from 60% on it charges at roughly 700 mah. Moto G3 2015 (X1540), ROM Resurrection remix 5.7.4 (MM 6.0.1), kernel squid r22, charger Asus 2.5 A, cable Asus also.

I saw the Aukey 3.0 charger it became available a day or two after the Tronsmart charger. I have an Aukey qc 2.0 wall and car charger which are both excellent. I went ahead and ordered the Tronsmart charger I listed which is also qc 2.0/1.0 compatible, I should have it tomorrow. I wanted to compare the build quality between them.
Both have proven track records so more than likely either one will be a safe bet regardless of which one you choose. I'll post a follow up once I receive it!

I also noticed that the Tronsmart includes a longer USB cable, which is nice.

The Tronsmart qc 3.0 charger is very solidly built and smaller than I expected, it is close to the same size as my Aukey 2.0 quickcharger although it feels slightly bigger in the hand due to the the defined edges while the Aukey is rounded on either side and relatively flat on top and bottom.
I don't have any qc 3.0 devices at this point to be able to give a comparison of charge times between the qc 3.0 and 2.0 charging, although I don't have any reason to doubt the quoted specs since the qc 2.0 times have proven to be correct over time.
I will say that anecdotally there does seem to be a little bit of a difference when charging a qc 2.0 phone with the Tronsmart 3.0 charger, and that is that it seems to take slightly longer to charge the phone when compared with the Aukey 2.0 charger but the phone doesn't seem to get as warm when quick charging.
This wasn't a scientific test just a general observation, so your mileage may vary, I hope this is helpful. I can say that I wouldn't have any problem recommending Tronsmart or Aukey chargers going forward they have similar specs and are both priced competitively.
I cancelled my HTC one a9 pre-order after the shipping was delayed, so I'm not sure when I will have a qc 3.0 device to test it with.

I got home from work and did a little experiment, Phone was at 6%, and as I plugged it in, I set a timer. 32 minutes into charging, my phone (HTC One A9) was only at 43%. Much slower than I expected... 37% in 32 minutes, nowhere near the advertised speed of 85% in 35 minutes on a 3300mAh battery. Airplane mode was also turned on while charging.
Would not recommend.

I have read some news that the early version of HTC One A9 just comes with QC2.0 support, but a future software update will bring the QC3.0.

Even at qc 2.0 speeds, it shouldn't be charging at around 1% every minute right? or am I wrong. When I saw the quick charge statistics of 60% in 30 minutes, I imagined around 2% a minute

That fast charge 0-60% in 30 min is the test done by qualcomm in the lab. Actually there will be some errors between different devices which support QC 2.0 technology.

Do you have that usb mah meter i have one and lg g4 charge at 9v 1.35A while note 5 9v 1.65a so its up to deive manufacture get the voltage done and qualcom test is at max qc2.0 speeds thats 12v 1.5a or more? thats double the 9v charging so yea 2% per min

No I don't have a current meter that can measure USB currents. It's only 1% a minute when charging my phone. Quick charge is way too hyped up.
I always look into verified purchaser ratings in amazon while buying anything. I found the following Quick Charge 3.0 which (brands) are listed in qualcomm website (website doesn't have 3.0 listing of accessories, but these manufacturers of accessories are found:

I am still waiting on my HTC A9 pre-order to be delivered, would pick any of these. If anyone bought either of these please give me your opinions on these. I bought this same charger too and I'm with you, doesn't seem any faster that my regular charger. the Anker 3.0 wasn't listed (or I missed it) when I ordered the Transmart or I would have ordered that one instead.
i'll check the voltage & amps in GSam next time I charge to see what it says.
I bought the JDB QC 3.0 charger on eBay from China for $18 (also available on AliExpress for $14). It seems like a good deal and good quality if one can be patient.
I do wish those of you posting performance comments would hold your water until your phone actually supports version 3.0; until then the 3.0 chargers aren't likely to be any faster with 2.0 phones (e.g. the A9 with current firmware).
FWIW the 3.0 spec defines charge voltages every 0.2V from 3.6V (some places say 3.2V) all the way up to 20V. That does not mean that all chargers offer this range, or that all devices can use these voltages (the phone determines which of the available voltages to use through time). The 2.0 spec only had a few charge voltages to choose from so the more granular voltage choices with 3.0 should be a win for all devices. All of the chargers mentioned so far offer a top voltage of 12V at 1.5A (compared to HTC's 2.0 max of 12V at 1.25A). At 9V there is 2A available (compared to 1.67A for 2.0). In the range around 5V the different products list different currents between 2A and 3A but at this stage I suspect the spec differences are probably not real (2.0 is 1.67A for comparison). So potentially 3.0 can provide up to 20% more current than 2.0 across the voltage range. In practice the greatest benefit will be to devices with large batteries (i.e. not A9) as they can absorb charge faster - it is quite possible that the A9 will not benefit from the higher available currents at all (but still benefit from the smaller voltage steps). I look forward to getting real world measurements.

I used both till they are the same battery level (16%), and (With airplane mode on for both devices) I plugged my HTC to the tronsmart qc 3.0 adapter, and my iphone into the HTC charger that came in the box. A little while later, I checked the percentages and they were exactly the same. Either my HTC is charging at conventional speeds, or the iPhone charges at the same speed as Qc 2.0 (Roughly 1% every minute), Never owned a Qc 2.0 device so not sure if that's the normal speed... Anyone have any input on this?
It's not just comparing apples and oranges, there are multiple differences: battery capacity, age, and charging regimens available in both phones and chargers. I don't see any comparability. As for charging regimens, the new A9 is a QC 2.0 device (for now) charging on a QC 3.0 charger, which means the CPU will only request voltages that are available in QC 2.0 and only with slightly higher amperage available from the charger (which may not even be usable with the A9's small battery). So I expect little or no improvement over a QC 2.0 charger. We will have to wait for a test of QC 3.0. The iPhone uses Apple's own charging regimen, which usually doesn't charge fast unless connected to an Apple charger, or one able to act like one. I suspect the QC chargers have that ability, as it is increasingly common, so the question is how much current is available in the charger for the Qualcomm implementation of the Apple protocol?
I think the identical charging times is just an accident.

I am not sure if it is 1% per minute. My M8 charges 70% in an hour. QC 2.0 is the technology of qualcomm and nothing to do with Apple. Apple doesn't use the the qualcomm technology but they have their own, and advanced Apple iPhones have charging capacity similar to QC 2.0 . QC 3.0 is going to be the new technogy when qualcomm makes it available through HTC update, which we are expecting to be a great upgrade (which is not available on A9 yet, though the hardware is all set to do that)

I have issues with buying technology because I am always looking for zero compromises. Been holding off on a battery bank for the 6P because i haven't found "the one"....
Wondering if anyone has seen any battery banks that meet all/most of these criterion:
USB C 3A Input/Output
Passthrough charging (charge the phone and battery bank in series)
6000 mAh or higher
I'm more than happy with this product from RAVPower

Great find man! I been looking for something like this. Now if I can only find out if the 18650's are replaceable! Does it look like this box has screws to easily disassemble it ?
the battery pack i'm waiting for (hopefully not forever) is something with 3a fast charging that is more pocket friendly than anker/ravpower ~8000 mAH+

Not only does it support fast charging via USB C, it uses the USB C port to charge itself as well. This means the battery bank charges in about 3 hours which is quite fast for a 10000mah pack. With a full charge, I can charge my 6p twice.

Nope, It doesn't have screws, I'm pretty sure it's hidden under the back cover.

Actually this one doesn't have true USB C fast charge (it only goes up to 2.4A @ 5V, not the full 3A)

I second this pack. It's a bit on the bigger side, but the added capacity is really helpful when you have to go off the grid for an extended period of time (read international flights), and the extra weight isn't that obvious if you just throw the pack in your backpack or purse, for our lady friends out there.
As for the screws, I don't think it has, and the 18650s aren't supposed to be replaceable either. But heck, the cells are of exceptionally high quality and rated up to 500 cycles, so you don't really have to worry about them going bad.

Not true, it DOES have true USB C fast charge as it gives you 5V 3A.

I stand corrected! Thanks for pointing this out. Last time I checked, it only supported pseudo fast charge (2.4A @ 5V)
I just got the Anker PowerCore+ 20100 USB-C and find it really good as well.

I just picked up the same, and I'm impressed so far. It came with a carry bag and 3 cables: A to Micro, A to C, & C to C. Capacity is 20,100 mAh.

Could you please share your experience with power banks so far? I'm looking for some to buy soon...
I bought the Xiaomi Power Bank Pro. It does have a USB type C socket.
Unfortunately that socket is to charge the power bank itself, so connecting the 6P via the USB type C actually drains the phones battery and charges the power bank from the phone. :-o
It does come with a USB A to USB C cable, but it does not quick charge the 6P.
Thanks for your answer, I've read that pressing POWER button on the bank while connecting to the phone could launch charging via USB-C socket - did you try it?

O recently ordered the RAVpower 20,100mAh 3.0 one as there was a $10 off coupon code, but can understand the desire for something smaller and more pocket-able.
This is closest thing I was able to find that is pocket-able and, i think, meets your criteria. But no reviews and I've never heard of the brand:

So what are the differences between the Anker and the RAVpower?
Do they both support being charged at 5V/3A?
EDIT: That pocket-able one is kind of tempting - shame it isn't a more reputable brand
The RAVpower unite I ordered does both USB-C 5V 3A and Quick Charge 3.0 the Anker unite seemed not to (not even sure it did either, must where QC 2.0).
