Yes, as long as it's LTE bands 2/3/4/5/7/17. Those are the 4G/LTE bands of the Moto XT1225.
This link says Reliance Jio uses LTE bands 3/5/40 for 4G.

So, you will get two of their three LTE bands (3 & 5). You will not get LTE band 40.

Guide to 4G LTE in India – Carriers, Bands and Coverage (December 2015)
http://techpp.com/2015/12/28/4g-lte-india-guide/
This part of the December 2015 article is funny...
Band 5 / 850 MHz band –
This band is primarily held by the yet-to-be launched operator Reliance Jio and Reliance Communications. This band will provide great coverage to Reliance Jio. Reliance Communications, MTS, Tata Docomo and BSNL/MTNL are other holders of this band. Of all these holders, Reliance Jio, Tata Docomo and Reliance Communications are most likely to use it for LTE deployments and there’s also a possibility for spectrum sharing in this band between Reliance Jio and Reliance communications.
As of now, the device ecosystem for this band is very very weak. Most 4G smartphones launching in India simply don’t support this band. While there are certain high end smartphones that might support them (like iPhone 6/6s), mainstream support for 850 MHz band isn’t present in smartphones being sold in India.

Well, the 2014 Moto Turbo XT1225 supports that band -- LTE band 5!

Jio 4G works fine, but no support for VoLTE yet. So, no calling without Jio4GVoice app. Avoid if you're going to use it with Jio.

Is Jio somehow different from every other carrier in the world that it doesn't have 3G and even 2G bands in addition to 4G? Does this Jio only have LTE bands? (EDIT: YES, it seems they are an LTE only carrier. Very strange.)
When I call on AT&T here in the U.S. I don't have access to AT&T's VoLTE since the XT1225 is not an AT&T-branded phone. I have fantastic LTE speed, but when I call the service TEMPORARILY drops down to HSPA (which still allows simultaneous data and voice calls). When the phone call is over, my phone jumps back to LTE.

Jio only has 4g bands. It can't fall down to 2g and 3g. It is a very futuristic service and rightly so they only support 4g bands. Like it's CEO said, other telecom companies were built on analogue networks [2G/ 3G], they were built for voice but made to transfer data as well, but Jio is made on a completely digital network designed for data, so even the voice calls take place over LTE.
The XT1225 has VoLTE support, but you won't be able to enable it in India, just like Nexus 6P. I own both and am unable to use them for VoLTE which is very frustrating!

is XT1225 still worth buying? currently tied between lenovo z2 plus and moto turbo xt1225? which will be better in INDIA?.. will try to use the phone as lon as it supports me(2 years..) hopefully....
That's weird. When I used my Moto MAXX in England, I had VoLTE support (the option appeared in the menu). Why would this be any different with a non-Verizon non-AT&T carrier?

The XT1225 has VoLTE. But users say they can't use India's VoLTE. Maybe something technically different? Yet other Motorola phones have India VoLTE. Strange.

Do you mean the Lenovo Vibe Z2 PRO?? I can't find a "plus" verision, only Vibe Z2 and Vibe Z2 Pro.
The regular Z2 sucks. 720p, 2GB RAM, etc.
But IF you mean the Pro version, it is more comparable to the XT1225, at least in that they both have 1440p and 3GB RAM and similar battery size (3900/4000 mAh).
But the Lenovo phone is 6" IPS LCD (too big for me), while the Moto Quark is 5.2" AMOLED (better colors, better size).
32GB internal memory vs 64GB internal memory
Snapdragon 801 vs Snapdragon 805
All points for the Quark, specifically the Moto Turbo XT1225.
The Moto Turbo XT1225 will give you LTE bands 3 & 5 in India plus HSPA, of course. (XT1225 has LTE bands 2/3/4/5/7/17).
What LTE bands does the Lenovo phone have? One website says, 1/3/7/20 while another says 1/3/5/7/8/20. India carriers seem to be using LTE band 3/5/40 right now. Neither phone has LTE band 40, but the Moto Turbo definitely has two of those three.
Additionally for me at least, the Quark has Qi wireless charging while the Lenovo phone does not. Some people don't care, but I do.
The only things I can find in favor of the Vibe Z2 Pro is rear camera OIS and bigger front (selfie) camera.
Otherwise the Moto Turbo XT1225 matches or wins every other technical category.
advice needed....

oh, all you said was Lenovo Z2 Plus. Apparently that makes at least 3 phones they've called the "Z2". When you Google search for Lenovo Z2 Plus it shows the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro.
Many Chinese companies alternate between "Plus" "Pro" in different regions for some reason.
The Zuk name then brings up good results.

The Snapdragon 800 radio can only physically handle 7 LTE bands at the same time. If it could handle more, there would be no need for a D820 and a D821.
Now I am not sure how these bands are controlled on the WRT1605L. It will either be physical hardware configuration (different MSM8974 in D820 or D821) or Software (firmware) however, even if it is the latter, don't get your hopes up. It would not be possible for us to change the firmware of the radio.

I think iphone 5s and 5c also have the same receiver and they recently got a carrier update in India and now they do support 4g in India....I think the hardware supports it but you could tell us more about it?
The hardware may support it if it is pre-configured at the factory. Nexus 5 is not.

Because it was limited by software, not at a hardware level. Different phone. Different radio configuration. They cannot change the physical limitations. They did not change the physical limitations. They just allowed it in software.
The radio is limited to 7 bands so if your radio has all 7 bands used and your band is not one if them then you're out if luck. Both nexus models are already configured for maximum bands
Edit> Let me try to put this another way. The hardware is limited to 7 bands. Google / LGE whatever realised with the Nexus 5 that they could use the hardware to it's maximum capacity in 2 models (7 bands) and cover all the regions that they planned to release to at the time of release. So both the D820 and D821 are at maximum band capacity.
Some other phones that may use the same radio may be released in more geographical areas and need more than 2 models, so they release 3 but instead of for example releasing 2 capable of 7 bands and a 3rd capable of 2 (for example), they release 3 capable of 3 bands each (again, for example)... So these 3 phones still have 4 unused bands left, unlike Nexus 5 which has 0 free bands.
So either the band is already there or it is not. There is no "software update" that can "unlock" additional bands. The radio hardware must be "reconfigured" completely. All capable bands are already available on tehe Nexus. To "add" a band would mean a band needs replacing which as yet, is not possible.
As I said earlier, I am not sure if the radio is physically configured or firmware managed but it is done at the factory. Whether they can do something in future (if it is the latter) remains to be seen but certainly at the moment, there is nothing that can be done.

Outside North America (D821) Nexus 5 model:
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8
LTE: Bands: 1/3/5/7/8/20

Delhi NCR got FDD-LTE(Band 3) + TDD-LTE(Band 40) from Airtel, it works fine on my Nexus 5. I was in a low signal region and tested the speeds on the Nexus 5(supports only band 3) and Redmi Note 4g (supports both band 3 and band 40)
The results were:
N5: 5.6mbps/1.84mbps 37ms ping
Redmi Note 4g: 5.75mbps/1.05mbps 55ms ping
The speeds are really low for LTE but the signal strength was at best -107dBm. I will probably test once again when I get a good signal.

Will Airtel 4G work on my Nexus 5 in Maharashtra?
Will Airtel 4G work on my Nexus 5 in Maharashtra? I guess the customer care told me in Maharashtra they are using FDD.
They further mentioned that I will get 4G Speeds, but I might still see H+ on the handset instead of LTE.
Confused!!!! Should I go for 4G for not?

Get the free 4G sim from any airtel store, only a 2minute form fill up and a message to 121 is required.
Put the phone in LTE mode in settings.
Download LTE Discovery from playstore to see if you get LTE signals and the signal strength (-95dBm or more would be OK)
If you get LTE signals and the phone registers fine on LTE then you can subscribe a 1 day 3g pack to check speeds, if all goes well then you should be good to go with 4g.

Thanks for your quick response. I have already taken the 4g sim however the airtel gallery folks said that 4g LTE is not compatible with Nexus 5. Even the device 4g combability test on airtel's website shows an exclamation mark.
I am by no means getting LTE, even though in settings LTE mode is enabled. Have downloaded LTE Discovery app too, but no luck.
Any other thing I am missing out on? Are other users in Maharashtra also facing a similar issue?
Nexus 5 doesnt support band 40 (tdd-lte), band used by airtel for LTE in many circles. So that is why it isn't listed online on airtel's checklist. Delhi-NCR got both TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE, so nexus 5 works here.
Anyway, right now its not worth it. Very expensive and totally not worth it. Other telcos will use FDD-LTE, which is supported by Nexus 5. So, by that time the rates and QoS will be better and the nexus 5 will be supported.
hey Guys recently been trying out some chinese phones like the neo m1 and oneplus and even though they have the right bands they still do not seem to get good signal compared to for example my moto g/moto x, is this because they have worse attenna's? or maybe some settings i can fix?
You must check the bands that yout operator uses. Normally, all the chinese phones uses all the bands in 2g and the bands 850/2100 in 3g

I will let you know tomorrow after had a bit of time to test. I don't have 4G so can't comment on that though.
No probs on 4g rarely use that my galaxy mega pulls 20mb down on HSDPA in London which us faster than the 4g just wanna know how you think it is compared to your previous phone
Also how's emotionui only thing holding me back is wheter its any good. Root would be nice but I guess that will come
Honestly emui so much better than touchwizz or lg ui its crazy. Ignore these reviews from companies that need to.make revenue from the big players. Trust me I had m7 , lgg3 and many sammy units plus nokias and currently still have z2 out of all of them this ui is great. When you get it you will feel the same. If I thought it was crap I would just keep my z2 but I am selling it and keeping this. The ui is a mix betweeen lg and sammy. More lg but with some iphone touchs
Check my camera samples also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2940664
What is the version they sell?
Amazon uk now selling it Huawei Ascend Mate7 - Android Phone - GSM / UMTS by Huawei Deutschland http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00NEEXACE/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_mXUCub0BXPHSE
No 4G then?
Just asked seller Expoitalyweb:
" Are you 100% sure it supports lte fdd band 3, 7 and 20?"
Thats what I got for an answer...:
"The connectivity is: Wi-Fi: 802.11 a/b/g/n (WiFi Direct, WiFi WPS) Bluetooth: 4.0 USB 2.0 HS. For more technical details can be found at Huawei website directly. Best regards"
Clearly doesn't want this question to be asked..
This is my model from Amazon.fr using it on EE but have no 4G on my plan. I will check with wife's sim which is EE and 4g sim yo see if it works.
If that's L09 version than it shpould support LTE FDD Bands: 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20/28. Let us know once you check with your wife's card, ok?

Bootloader unlock is same as al other G's, get code from Motorola and unlock. For me root and twrp are the 2 starters. I have no doubt development will soon follow. (mainly as I'll give it a shot when twrp and root are available)

Sigh, I ordered it here in germany, got the XT1642 model. Does this mean I won't be able to take it back to the US and use it with Verison? (CDMA)
Is there anyway to patch the modem to allow for CDMA, or do certain models have different HW
Op can you correct your info as there is a 64gb with 4gb version

You could probably use something like QPST to turn on the processor's CDMA support, but the GSM-only models probably lack the necessary antenna setups for CDMA reception.
Plus, I doubt the XT1642 would be on Verizon's activation whitelist.

Yeah, can elaborate?
I am using Chinese rom (EDGE S).
*#*#4636#*#* does not work, is there any other way to actiVate 5G
Thanks!
When you buy the phone 5G is turned on by default. Go to mobile network settings and you can set preferred network. Or search "preferred network" in settings.
I just got one with China stock rom, if plug-in Hong Kong 5G subscription Sim card, the "Perfer network" choice on "5G" is not selectable (simply disappear), however using China carrier 5G sim card, it is selectable . Also the Developer mode option of enable "SA" also disappear. Not sure if other users has such issue. 4G+ using non-chinese carrier has no issue. Any solution to force enable 5G without flash or unlock bootloader?

And where do you live? China or Hong Kong?
There is a thing called SIM ToolKit that allows carrier to remotely upload and install code on your phone, this exists for many years now, even before touchscreen phones ever existed.
It can be used to even spy on you.
I think you understand now why when you insert Chinese SIM card your phones behaviour drastically changes...
Same thing here, 5G option is not available. Using G100 in Europe.

Hmm, is it possible your phone doesn't support the 5G band with the telecom you are using? Also, do you have a 5G plan activated?

I don't live in a 5G area, but in other areas it did not connect to the network. I opened a ticket with the provider. Let's see. Didn't want to kidnap the thread though.
Weclome to kidnap it, I'm fine with it.

Sorry for all the late reply. I have reported multiple times to Lenovo China support, however they do not have any answer on it. As demonstrate above. A China Telecom (Mainland China Sim with 5G plan) show 5G selectable. A China Mobile Hong Kong (Hong Kong with 5G plan) show only 4G selectable. I have double check CMHK use N78 band frequency and it does support N78 as advertise in Moto Edge S (Snapdragon 870).
Moreover, I try the same setting process in ROG phone 3 5G(Snapdragon 865+), Poco M3 Pro 5G (MTK 700), Vivo iQoo 7 (Snapdragon 888), iQoo Z1 5G (MTK 1000+) all of them are selectable for 5G in either China or HK sim card. Most likely Moto did a bad job in handling 5G setting for worldwide carrier.

Hmm, that's weird. Maybe a bug. Last resort would be to do a factory reset and see if that changes anything.

I'm starting to see what you mean, I'm running into the same situation except in Canada instead of HK. The 5G option is not showing up.
Ok, update. It seems that I managed to get the 5G option to pop up on the phone with a Singapore Sim Card (which is ironically connected to the same Canadian carrier via roaming) to show up the 5G option but not on my local Canadian carrier yet .
Sorry for thread bumping, but I managed to get the phone connected to the 5G network with my local simcard. All good to go.

I bought my Edge S from a China stock called G100 which has the same n66 band I need to connect to my Canadian 5g Bell provider but my phone doesn't automatically connect to 5g and 5g doesn't appear in preferred network. Which update did you download to be able to connect to 5g? The only update I see is a Chinese update RRN31.Q2.12-14-7 that didn't seem to fix the 5g problem. I downloaded Google carrier services but that has not helped the 5g problem. I don't know if Motorola has a worldwide 5g connectivity problems or if my China stock Motorola edge s called G100 needs to be flashed or forced enabled both which I have never done before so I must be careful not to brick my phone. I need HELP!

I transferred my old 4g sim to a newer 5g sim but it didn't change how I can't connect to 5g and when I spoke to a technical support they said my 5g is enabled and is supposed to connect to 5g automatically. I don't have another country sim to check if 5g will appear in preferred network but I'm not sure how that would help me connect to my Canadian 5g service in 5g coverage area.
