Bootloader unlock is same as al other G's, get code from Motorola and unlock. For me root and twrp are the 2 starters. I have no doubt development will soon follow. (mainly as I'll give it a shot when twrp and root are available)

Sigh, I ordered it here in germany, got the XT1642 model. Does this mean I won't be able to take it back to the US and use it with Verison? (CDMA)
Is there anyway to patch the modem to allow for CDMA, or do certain models have different HW
Op can you correct your info as there is a 64gb with 4gb version

You could probably use something like QPST to turn on the processor's CDMA support, but the GSM-only models probably lack the necessary antenna setups for CDMA reception.
Plus, I doubt the XT1642 would be on Verizon's activation whitelist.

These are the frequencies supported by the phone:
2G Network : GSM GPRS EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
3G Network : UMTS HSDPA UMTS 800, 850, 2100 MHz
4G Network : LTE 800, 1500, 1800, 2100 Mhz
I did a little research and it seems Spanish providers use UMTS 900/2100 for 3G and 1800/2600 for 4G so in principle there shouldn't be a problem, i remark in principle because the frequenties used might vary from one provider to another.

We will get it soon! Must be strong! For the manual I reported it a few message before as pointed out by Raimondo.
Cheers,
Has anyone figured out how to root or at least temp root? I'm getting mine from Kyoex as well (bought it 2 days ago) and all I want to install is Xposed framework
And I believe there is only 3G for now (I'm not sure if it's just for people in the USA or everyone worldwide), i have an LG G2 so I'll be leaving 4G LTE for 3G But it doesn't matter I'll have the coolest phone ever!

Is this for the international SM-G935F version ? Because everywhere I look (on the internet), I don't see the FDD LTE band 28 supported. It would be great if it was as we have a FDD LTE Service on band 28 that starts as early as April 2016 here (Paris, France)
UPDATE: apparently, according to Vodafone New Zealand, it does support band 28

UPDATE: apparently, according to Vodafone New Zealand, it does support band 28

I unpacked the boot.IMG and checked the ramdisk and the s7 also has force encrypt enabled. Meaning it's encrypted at first boot and can't be unencrypted without flashing a modified image.

Can anyone shed any light on the difference b/t LTE and LTE Roaming, if i decide to get the 820 Tmobile version instead of the international exynos version will i still be ok? (im on bands 1,3,7) so i would assume ill be "roaming" the entire time....

Yes, as long as it's LTE bands 2/3/4/5/7/17. Those are the 4G/LTE bands of the Moto XT1225.
This link says Reliance Jio uses LTE bands 3/5/40 for 4G.

So, you will get two of their three LTE bands (3 & 5). You will not get LTE band 40.

Guide to 4G LTE in India – Carriers, Bands and Coverage (December 2015)
http://techpp.com/2015/12/28/4g-lte-india-guide/
This part of the December 2015 article is funny...
Band 5 / 850 MHz band –
This band is primarily held by the yet-to-be launched operator Reliance Jio and Reliance Communications. This band will provide great coverage to Reliance Jio. Reliance Communications, MTS, Tata Docomo and BSNL/MTNL are other holders of this band. Of all these holders, Reliance Jio, Tata Docomo and Reliance Communications are most likely to use it for LTE deployments and there’s also a possibility for spectrum sharing in this band between Reliance Jio and Reliance communications.
As of now, the device ecosystem for this band is very very weak. Most 4G smartphones launching in India simply don’t support this band. While there are certain high end smartphones that might support them (like iPhone 6/6s), mainstream support for 850 MHz band isn’t present in smartphones being sold in India.

Well, the 2014 Moto Turbo XT1225 supports that band -- LTE band 5!

?
Is Jio somehow different from every other carrier in the world that it doesn't have 3G and even 2G bands in addition to 4G? Does this Jio only have LTE bands? (EDIT: YES, it seems they are an LTE only carrier. Very strange.)
When I call on AT&T here in the U.S. I don't have access to AT&T's VoLTE since the XT1225 is not an AT&T-branded phone. I have fantastic LTE speed, but when I call the service TEMPORARILY drops down to HSPA (which still allows simultaneous data and voice calls). When the phone call is over, my phone jumps back to LTE.

Jio only has 4g bands. It can't fall down to 2g and 3g. It is a very futuristic service and rightly so they only support 4g bands. Like it's CEO said, other telecom companies were built on analogue networks [2G/ 3G], they were built for voice but made to transfer data as well, but Jio is made on a completely digital network designed for data, so even the voice calls take place over LTE.
The XT1225 has VoLTE support, but you won't be able to enable it in India, just like Nexus 6P. I own both and am unable to use them for VoLTE which is very frustrating!

is XT1225 still worth buying? currently tied between lenovo z2 plus and moto turbo xt1225? which will be better in INDIA?.. will try to use the phone as lon as it supports me(2 years..) hopefully....
That's weird. When I used my Moto MAXX in England, I had VoLTE support (the option appeared in the menu). Why would this be any different with a non-Verizon non-AT&T carrier?

Do you mean the Lenovo Vibe Z2 PRO?? I can't find a "plus" verision, only Vibe Z2 and Vibe Z2 Pro.
The regular Z2 sucks. 720p, 2GB RAM, etc.
But IF you mean the Pro version, it is more comparable to the XT1225, at least in that they both have 1440p and 3GB RAM and similar battery size (3900/4000 mAh).
But the Lenovo phone is 6" IPS LCD (too big for me), while the Moto Quark is 5.2" AMOLED (better colors, better size).
32GB internal memory vs 64GB internal memory
Snapdragon 801 vs Snapdragon 805
All points for the Quark, specifically the Moto Turbo XT1225.
The Moto Turbo XT1225 will give you LTE bands 3 & 5 in India plus HSPA, of course. (XT1225 has LTE bands 2/3/4/5/7/17).
What LTE bands does the Lenovo phone have? One website says, 1/3/7/20 while another says 1/3/5/7/8/20. India carriers seem to be using LTE band 3/5/40 right now. Neither phone has LTE band 40, but the Moto Turbo definitely has two of those three.
Additionally for me at least, the Quark has Qi wireless charging while the Lenovo phone does not. Some people don't care, but I do.
The only things I can find in favor of the Vibe Z2 Pro is rear camera OIS and bigger front (selfie) camera.
Otherwise the Moto Turbo XT1225 matches or wins every other technical category.
advice needed....

oh, all you said was Lenovo Z2 Plus. Apparently that makes at least 3 phones they've called the "Z2". When you Google search for Lenovo Z2 Plus it shows the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro.
Many Chinese companies alternate between "Plus" "Pro" in different regions for some reason.
The Zuk name then brings up good results.

You, sir, are a beautiful goddess from heaven lol. Thanks for these posts. There's not much discussion or support for this phone, let alone for the Umidigi F1. So I'm really surprised to at least see that TWRP works on it. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive before I get into tinkering with it.
Have you had any luck with rooting/Magisk/Xposed?

Ah okay. This will be my first Android Pie device, so I haven't done too much extensive research on Pie's compatibility with mods like Xposed and such, but I have zero issues giving that functionality up. As long as it's possible to root the Umidigi Power, I'll be completely satisfied. Is the root method the same as it is for the Umidigi F1?

Hi. Just a quick question here; I have my service with MetroPCS (T-Mobile), and I would like to know if there's a way to turn VoLTE off. I bought the Umidigi Power Global version, so there may not be a way, just curious if anyone knows. I've looked through the settings and don't any reference to VoLTE anywhere. So far, I love this phone. Lots of bang for the buck.

I don't mind you asking! It might sound silly to you unless you have OCD like me, but the icon for VoLTE takes up to much space at the top and I can't see the rest of the things that are running . It's just ascetics for me. It works well either way. I'm just used to it looking a certain way.
nodoubt. But are u sure u can't bypass what is being displayed in status bar for what its worth..? With enhanced VoLTE u get cleaner HD calling. I know I hear a complete difference. Also you get to use it for text messaging (more reliable ?). But as for OCD with the phone I feel you.... I have the F1 and my wife now has the power because we're waiting on a screen replacement for her S3pro. but anyways, I noticed right off the bat that the power has enlarged font for the status bar. especially comparing to my F1. so u Definitely lose out on space with the power. But for real turn it back on and look for an app that may be able to hide the VoLTE icon honestly...... ? I'm looking for u right now ?
I just ordered mine from Amazon. Does anyone know the "codename" for this device?

I spent a few DAYS the other week just looking for a mod that could hide the VoLTE/VoWiFi icons. The only thing I really came across were some super outdated Xposed modules and some mods that were device specific (like for Samsung or OnePlus phones). I also found a few flashable zip mods, but didn't bother attempting to install them without a working TWRP recovery. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So if you find anything related to that, please let me know! lol
-------
On a general note, a few weeks back while attempting to flash various TWRP recoveries from similar devices and CPU architectures, I realized that the stock boot.img and the stock recovery.img flash files were the exact same file on the Power. There is no difference between them. This might be something worth investigating as this is not the case with the F1 / F1 Play / S3 Pro, etc. Just the UMIDIGI Power. And upon some very brief researching, it seems that some phones (such as the Essential Phone) need TWRP to be patched into the boot.img rather than the recovery.img - kind of in the same way that we got root on the Power by patching Magisk into the boot.img.
Just thought I'd add these observations here as I've kinda been wondering if they happen to be significant at all.
Just an FYI there is a new wireless update....

LTE is 4G,so, if you're seeing LTE in your status bar, you're likely getting 4G on your phone?

i think it came with SM-s908U firmware , now i have flashed it with sm-s908U1 firmware (not sure am i suppose to do that too) , i have tried css:ATC and css:XAA , nothing much has changed.
My carrier 4g bands are
1 (2100 MHz)
3 (1800 MHz)
7 (2600 MHz)
5g is very limited here so i will concentrate in 4g solution for now
