OK guys I just need to vent out my frustration with Samsung phones. I have used S3, Note2 (N7105 and N7100), then S4, then I have already returned 2 units of the Note 3.
Common problem with all of them is the screen, Then the S3 and Note2 had "SDS" (Sudden Death Syndrome). I had to return a few of the S3's and Note 2's because of those problems. On my first S4, the bottom half was darker than the top half of the screen, it had like a pinkish tint.
On the Note 3 again, it was the same problem with my first (N9005 International), it was dark on the bottom right corner of the screen so I returned it to amazon. So I ordered a N900T (Tmobile version) because i want to use the phone on my Net10 sim running on AT&T. This one was different because about 1/10th of the phone on both top and bottom were a little darker than the middle of the screen but I decided to just keep it because it was not as noticable as my previous Samsung phones. But I was shocked when I was making a call, I heard some screeching/squeaking/interference-like noise coming from the earpiece. After that phone call, I quickly tested the phone and "BOOM" the noise was always there when the phone's screen was on. It even happens when the phone is just booting up. This is confirmed by a Tmobile employee when I went to the shop.
So off it went back to tmobile.
I am really now fed up with Crapsung specially now they have introduced knox, and maybe locked bootloader even on future international models.
Right now I will not buy any crapsung phone. I am really tired and fed up.
Rant off...
The screen issue is a common thing most of us have that issue but its either not bothering them or not visible to them based on how they use a phone. The darker corners is, yellow/pink tints are pretty common they are in most if not all units to a certain degree. Also the black splotches are back but this time they are only visible on certain grey shades since the screen now turns off if it is a pure black color info (RBG 000)
Having said that I still got and kept the phone since its only $105 on my 24 month contract so its ok.
if i were you. i will stop using since the Note2 or the S4. anyway theres always some flaws in production. you just so lucky to get those faulty set.
I had SDS on my S3 that bothered me but was corrected after 4.1.2 update and didn't affect my phone, for Note 3 darker half screen I don't have that problem thank God, and just a little advice, never ever buy any phone online, you have to buy it from a retail shop and check the phone at shop to make sure everything is working fine.
Stop ordering your devices from the US. (You're probably in the US though.) The quality control regulations are much higher in the EU. (resulting in a higher price, but the quality is better.) There's a reason phones are so cheap in the US...
And not just Samsung phones. All the Asus TF700's from Bestbuy had issues with screens cracking, hinges breaking, massive creaking, broken keyboards... None of the EU models had those issues.
I've handled around 300 EU Note 3's so far, not a single one had any of the issues you described. Not the screen, not the audio, not the lightissues, no broken proximity sensors, nothing.
(The SDS issue was worldwide and software related, though.)

I used to live in UK, and the S3, S4, and Note 2's were all UK models. Also, the Samsung phones in the US are made in china, but the UK one I have handled are not.

not more samdung fones...as long as knox stays,i amntaking my money elsewhere!
The ones in EU are not made in korea?
I'm running non-rooted stock on my N3 BTU without any locks or reboots.
using Samsung phones since Galaxy S1. Never had evena single issue. May be I am too lucky. Hell yeah Samsung
I have a note 3 made in Vietnam and it's flying. Running x note and lean kernel, I could probably get hundreds of uptime hours I'd I wouldn't be rebooting my phone at least twice a weak to flash different stuff. Rock solid.
In your case you have lots of problems with Samsung. But if everyone did expirience these problems, noone would've bought Samsung again.. And you're right about Knox. Its crap, but people get dumber and dumber day after day. Knox is just a backdoor for samsung or w/e when they need something from you. Just like Microsoft uses Skydrive. Its free for everyone and its usefull.. but think of the things Microsoft can do with it..
We life in a world where we are vulnerable for the "Tech" we get these days, this might be used against you later.

Your disrespectful and racist comment is not welcome here. Unless that's actually a city or province, in which case my apologies.

I am not aware and not intending to sound disrespectful and racist. Infact I am also Asian. If there is any person who is from china I offended, I am sorry... is chingchong like the "N" word, well even the blacks call themselves the "N" word... listen to a lot of rap/hiphop music... The only problem sometimes is the government trying to be "politically correct" so as not to offend anyone, but they are unaware or they keep a blind eye on their own citizens' "freedom" of speech.
I have been to a chinese speaking country and I know for a fact that their people call the "White" people nasty words whenever they see one on the streets so that you know. Does their government care? NO... Does anyone stop those people from calling a "White" man some nasty words? NO...

Does that change the fact that it's disrespectful and derogatory? No. Also, just because you're Asian, that doesn't mean you have the right to suddenly be racist again other Asian people. That's not how racial equality works.

It doesn't say where it's made on the EU boxes, just "Made by Samsung". (And mine lists Samsung UK... Bought in Germany. Lol.) Also, the US devices are all made in China or Vietnam.

I'm Dutch and I call most of my countymen lazy, greedy potheads. Does that make me a racist, then? Or just a realist?
Looks like the LG G3 with 3gb memory is the answer...

Have you used Phone info app? It will display country of origin along with other useful data. I'd love to hear where the EU phones are manufactured.

Anyone else notice what seems like to be a screen burn in on their Galaxy S6 (non-edge). I was outside today in direct sunlight for the first time and I pulled up google chrome (white background) and I noticed dark gray lines as depicted by the red lines in the pictures. Just curious if anyone else has this?

I have found exactly the same issue on mine. But it's only noticeable in direct sunlight it seems. At present it isn't a deal breaker for me but it's certainly a bit odd. Surely it's a little early for screen burn in?

+1.
It's not screen burn in. It's the metal chassis behind the screen which you are seeing., which is only visible in direct sunlight.
Ok but is that normal?I have the same issue and at the store i notice the same issue on one new-out of the box device.Should we replace our device or this is normal?
I started a thread to this issue yesterday. Because I didnt saw this one.
Just replaced my phone because some issues with the display, flash led and this problem.
Think my replacement will have it, too.
For now I cannot anwer me the question if it is suitable to accept this for a phone in this price segment. The summer is coming and the issue will be there on a lot of days.

I think i will not settle for a phone at this price range and this stupid issue and i think that nobody should. I will just pick up Note 4 with Exynos if this issue is not resolved with the 3rd s6 device.
Me too.
On a teardown from ifixit you can exactly see the unit that creates these frame.
Thank you very much! I also experienced this on my Galaxy s6. I ordered a replacement and also noticed it.
Just to let you now guys.I tested 4 new s6 devices and all of them had this issue!!!This is a big thing and nobody is making the real fuzz abou it.So i picked up Note 4 with Exynos.Do not buy s6, wait for month of two just so they can resolve this.
I think it is a design problem and there will be no fix for it.
If that is the case, then ppl should make a big deal about it.I don not have this phone anymore but I would like to help if this issue continues.I will contact samsung via facebook and see what we can do.
I got my replacement yesterday and yes, the problem still exists. The phone is from Vietnam, 04/15/15.
The story goes on. After Amazon Germany stopped selling the black 64 GB edition I replaced my one against the white 64 GB. This one shows the frame on any background. Not only white. Only on very dark ones there is no see.
And I can see it under normal light conditions. Not only sunlight.
A very very very bad Display.
Why is it just this quiet about the issue? It's not less ugly like the flash LED or the wiggling home button issue.
My S6 (Germany; Mediamarkt) doesn't seem to have a a burn-in.
http://www.directupload.net/file/d/3982/wj6uc78e_jpg.htm
Try this in direct sunlight please with max brightness.
It is not a real burn in. It is a frame of a used component that Lays direct under the display.
Real screen burnin
We were at the Verizon store today and noticed that all the Edge phones had real screen burn in. One had the Verizon logo burnt into the screen that you could see clearly from within any app with a white background. We used chrome and a normal web page to show the employees of the store. The galaxy s6 egde had some sort of Verizon demo bar burnt into it. It seems to be a problem with the screens. I googled for it and found this thread. I am surprised this hasn't become a serious problem for Samsung yet.

Had a very bad screen burn in my S5 - i could actually see the title of the email app i have to use for work on a white screen without sunlight (title of the app is ALWAYS at the top when working in the app). Now had the S6 since it has been out and starting to see the same issue. Spoke with Samsung about this and they stated that the S4, S5, S6 and all Note devices are capable of getting screen burns with High Contrast imaging or lines. They said they could replace my screen but i would be without a device for nearly a month, and the carrier will not complete a warranty because the device still functions perfectly.
THANKS SAMSUNG!
Hello again people. Just received my shine new S6 this morning only to find out it is a fake. Obviously I am very upset about this and I have contacted the seller on ebay but he assures me it is real and that he bought it from the carphone warehouse. This is obviously a lie and I now fear if he asks me to return the phone he will just say that it is not the phone he sent me and I will be left with nothing. So I am now looking to see if there is any way I can tell from the photos in his listing that the phone is a fake proving that this is the phone he sent me. Here is a link to a photo from his listing on the left next to a genuine S6 photo on the right.
http://s24.postimg.org/3xvkdztxx/Photo_Grid_1438804184330.jpg
Please tell me there is a way to tell this is a fake.
Hopefully I will receive a full refund through PayPal however I am trying to gather as much evidence as possible.
Thanks
Install Phone Info Samsung from Google Play Store.
Check all of the info and run refurbishment check from the app's menu.
The best thing would be to go to some store and compare to another S6.
Also, try some special Samsung features or apps and test them. Maybe try Antutu Benchmark. Score should be around 60K.
These are some of the ideas, hope it helps.
Oh, the phone on the left has way too weak light on capacitive buttons. I have a black S6 and it's buttons' lights are really bright, sometimes annoying.

Thanks, I have been to a Samsung experience store today to ask them for some kind of confirmation that the phone is a fake however there tech team had already finished for the day and they advised me to return tomorrow and they would help. I did compare it to one in the store and it is a world away from the genuine one. The screen resolution is different and it is very laggy in comparison as well as build quality. This I already new for myself as the first thing I did when I got it was to start the recovery only to be greeted by some Chinese characters instead of the genuine Samsung recovery. I am really just looking to see if there is any way to tell from the photos in his listing that it is a fake.
Not sure if I should do this but oh well. Here is the listing...
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/252040570304
Can anybody tell from the photos?
Thanks
Install CPU Z from the play store.
Ask the seller to provide conformation of their purchase from CPW. They should have a receipt and on it will he the IMEI number.
Definitely contact eBay though, they shouldn't get away with ripping people off.

Brilliant! Why the hell didn't I think of that? I'll get straight onto him about the receipt. Thanks Obagleyfreer.
On the first picture you see the earphones, they are not like that on the real S6, they look like the ones that come with the Iphone. Idk about the charger but i guess it's not like that neither XD The homescreen of the Touchwiz ui, the little "house" dot doesn't look like that. And the capacitive buttons leds are brighter. I guess if you turn it off, and enter to download mode (vol down + menu + power buttons), you will see a menu in an asian language XD
Before buying a phone, you should see a LOT of unboxings, just to check what comes inside of what you are going to buy, and how it looks like... Just with that pictures i can clearly see that it's a fake, because i saw a lot of reviews and unboxings before i bought mine XD Anyways, good luck with that and hope you can solve your problem!
Thanks xXCriss1, you're a star. Just looked at an unboxing video of an S6 and it seems you're right about the charger plug, it's totally different. I will try to get the tech team at samsung to confirm that for me tomorrow and hopefully they will put it in writing. If they confirm that's the phone in his listing is a fake then he won't have a leg to stand on.
What a jerk I never understood why people like to scam with these fake phones I know it's fake but you're trying to provide proof so I will help you boot the fake into download mode if it looks different than is then it is fake.
EDIT: to boot into download mode hold volume down+home button+ power while the phone is off
Already done thanks so I too know it's a fake, its just getting the proof for PayPal. I'm not sure they understand too much about downloader mode etc ha.
Oh, quick question. How the hell do you get out of download mode? I put the phone in the store into download mode to compare it to mine but I had no idea how to get out of it so I just left sharpish haha.
From the pictures one can see there are no shadows under the icons and between the phone frame and the screen the black gap is wider.
Hello my friend thanks for telling of your experience wow terrible I hope you get your money back

For that thing I have no idea on the normal S6 hold power and volume down try it for that.

Ok so here we go. I bought a phone from someone earlier today. It was supposed to be a Samsung Galaxy S7 and it says it on the back, when you turn the phone on at startup and in the settings. Here is the thing. The model number inside the phone is a samsung galaxy core prime as well as the imei. It is the same shape and size and everything and the body as the s7 also. How can someone do this?
I downloaded the Samsung app ""phone info and it gives me a bunch of info of the galaxy core prime. It HAS been rooted also. it gives me nothing about knox or anything else no build numbers or anything.
I know all about root and a little about Odin, but nothing about something like this that someone can manipulate a phone and why. Can someone please help me??????
See if you can boot into download mode, whatever it says in there is the correct model phone, firmware can be faked
If it is the core prime, only way I can imagine they did that would be if the motherboards were close enough size to fit the S7 body, but the shape and size of the core prime body is very different to the S7
I'm in Canada and I got a G955F right when it came out. I recently noticed that there appears to be something under the screen creating a big black spot. All this time i thought it was something under the screen protector so i never worried about it, until i took it off and the spot was still there.
The local samsung store will not honor the warranty as it's different models, however is this really true and is the screen different for each version of the S8 plus?
Doubt it, probably just a manufacturing defect.
