Modify existing app...can anyone tell me how to do this? - Other Tools & General Discussion

Hello Guys...
I want to programm an android app for my school project.
It needs to detect DTMF Sounds and decode it, and depending on which number was dialed, the whole screen should colorize in a specific colour.
I found an app in the playstore...a DTMF Decoder. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.encapsystems.dtmfd&hl=de
so this app already detects and decodes the DTMF signals, and shows which numbers were dialed.
Unfortunately it forcecloses when there's an active call in the background. I guess because both apps want to access the microphone at the same moment?
Can someone tell me, if it's possible to use this app as a fundament, and make my desired app based on it? And maybe stop forceclosing it?
I would be very grateful for any help!
Best Regards, Alex

Voice dial setup.

Hi everyone,
Could anyone tell me what application runs when voice dialing? I hope to replace it with VoiceCommand.exe to make that run instead when I press the voice dial button.
I have been searching all day for a solution to this and found a lot of threads suggesting me to replace the DSdialer.exe in the windows map. I would if it was there. I think it's named differently on my device, just need to know what's it called.
Thank you in advance.

WM6.5 and Avaya as dialler

Hi,
I am new on this portal but I read a lot in the last days and was very surprised of the solutions you find and also the apps you made working. Great
I know its not looking very good to ask as newbie for help but I hope you can help me... I am searching for more than a week for a solution and tried even to edit the registry but unfortunately I am not good enough to find the solution
So what do I want do to?
I have a HD2 (branding free) and I want to install Avaya One-X mobile.
Well the installation was succesfull and I also get it running inside my company and also the private modus. But since I have it installed I hear no ringtone. It always plays an "ding" and thats all.
So right now I always have to keep my eyes on my mobile to see if someone calls me or not.
And the second problem is that I also get no caller picture displayed..
But as soon as I deinstall the one-x everything is working (phone rings and caller picture is displayed)????
So you are my last hope to find a solution. Please can you help me?
If you need any further infos please let me know
Thanks
Frank
oh... the one-x mobile software is free for download on the avaya webiste
I can post you the link later (I am not allowed to post it right now...)
i'm getting mad with it...
Now I am a step further.. I now that the software deactivates the onboard call handler. I think it is only a registry setting to reenable it. after done the caller name+picture should be displayed and even the call-slider should be back.
Does someone have an idea where I can find the entry?
well now I know exactly the differents between the registry with one-x installed vs without. But I have no experiences in reading/interpreting my results.
Is a Dword something which can be used as name? or is it only a value?
Does someone has a guide for beginners please?
Did you contact Avaya support for assistance?
I have recently taken over all our telecoms at the office (avaya system)
Saw your post on One-x and been reading a little on it. Where did you get the install files from and did you get it working in the end?
I have a support contact with a company called central so I can contact them for free advice if needed
is this the version you are using?
http://support.avaya.com/css/appman...loads/P0438/5.2.x/C201012083328498084#summary
I'll take a look at what the installer does as I've not heard of it before but it's not letting me register to download it .
yep that's the software I am trying to download
Could not create an account either
I have emailed my support company and they will be sending the software to me on a disc.
thanks for your responses.
I installed the version for pocketpc WM6 (not the UC version) and yes it is working fine
But:
The problem I have is that since I have it installed it
- my mobile does not play a ringtone any more
- "slide to answer" and "show caller name+picture" is away
When I get the disc tomorrow ill post up the results.
This app will be very helpful if i get it working
As for the no ringtone issue I am not sure.
I would attach it... but i have no permissions...
@ fards: there are two versions. one for "Windows mobile 5"and the other one for "Windows mobile pocket pc" (here you can find it for WM6). the first is a UC versions. For this you need an internet connection and a uc-server running in your company. the other one is for normal mobile use. it calls via the phone connection the server and then your call is managed by the server.
support.avaya.com/css/appmanager/public/support/Downloads/P0483/C20090710162819340875658#files
you can find it here for free and you need no login
I do not see the HD2 listed as compatible device.
Did you get it working or still having problems?
How does the Avaya interface on the mobile phone look like?
Is it replacing the WM dialer completly or only while Avaya software is running in the background?
I have just installed it onto my HD2. The install hung at the end for about 20 mins. Reset device and the software has replaced my dialer. Appears to be working but im reading on how to configure the ini file now.
Tested on personal mode and call connected fine.
it replaces the dialer completly...
for the ini file you need the settings of your ACM. here you have to enter different extensions for each function...
you also has to to enter your mobile number in the ACM. Because your are identified via your number.
But can you test if you get a ringtone for incoming calls? thats my problem. I get no
Just to draw a conclusion to this This topic. This solution does not work correctly on HD2. Unless someone has managed to do this and has not shared?
sry... I was offline for a while... Does somesone find the solution?
No i gave up in the end..... bloody crap

[BUG] Contact Searching Apps

I have tested this issue with 2 different applications.
Moov & Gesture Search
When I do a search for any name, like "Sandra" they will pull up the right contact and display the correct phone number. Once I click on that search result they will take me to a different contact. Is anyone else experiencing an issue like this? I can repeat this issue every time, I can also make a video of it if needed.
I sync my contacts with google and use the HTC sense launcher. ROM is Fresh 0.3.
Can anyone spare 3mins of their time to test this for me?
Install Moov or Gesture Search and test them.
Yes, same problem here, but not really, because I use neither program

[Q] caller ID matching to contacts - please help

Hello,
New to the forum, hello and thanks to all!
I'm Running a Captivate with Cyanogen Mod 7.1
and I am seeing that the incoming caller ID number has to exactly match the phone number stored in the contact (all digits) for the contact matching to work correctly (for received calls and SMS)
I would like to limit the matching to 8 digits, like many traditional cell phones out there. The problem is that in my country in some situations I need to dial the numbers differently from what the network reports for incoming calls.
With ES File Explorer , I modified the /system/build.prop file , adding the line “ro.phone.min_match=8” but it still does not work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160343
The file was modified successfully, the change is still there, but it does not work. Maybe I have to do it differently, with the adb tool but I really don´t know how. Or maybe it will not work with Cyanogen??
Could anybody please give me some guidance on how to do this ?
Thank you very much!
Gonzalo
Ok, after some investigation of the source code:
This does not work with Cyanogen Mod. It has a completely different caller id-to contact code, so that method will not work.
Gonza
Well, does anybody know how to change that behavior?
Since the Nokia S40 days, I'm used to see caller ID matched to the 8 last digits of my contacts. And this has been a major annoyance on CM7 to me, to the point I'm nearly compiling AOSP to extract the original app...
Did anybody discovered how to solve this issue? any progress?
This is the only annoyance I have with CM7.
Thanks,
Marcelo
same for me! any solution?
Unfortunately there is no solution to this.
My brother and I , we looked at the source code, and after a couple of hours of searching we found the routines. Its easy to modify, but then you need to build everything again from scratch.
I dont know how to do that but my brother does, so he tried to do it for me but it took ages to download all the code, and the donwloads were interrrupted etc etc.
End of the story, he could not do it. It can be modified, but somebody hast to do it ...

Best way to change sms tone and ringtone ?

What has everyone been doing for changing sms tone and ringtone? Ive downloaded ringtones to my phone with a free ringtone app but i cant load them.
I also remember a while back the only way to change an sms tone with switching one of the origional .wav file to a new one of your choice. Has this changed? Is it possible to add custom tones now?

Hello Floods7
I downloaded some free ringtones using "Free Ringtones" app, the one that has white chroma on blue background (don't know if it's the same
you used).
I was looking for "Yes - Roundabout" and find it. I clicked on the download button and the app went into the "Downloading page".
At the end, I slide to "MyDownload" and I found it there. I clicked on the floppy icon (Save) and finally the app saved the ringtone
in the list you find in Settings menu.
Or you can add a ringtone zia Zune, following this short tutorial:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-gb/howto/wp7/start/create-ringtones.aspx.
About adding new sms tones (or email, or other kind of alert), you can use the app wrote before to find them.
But if you want to use them, you could try this way:
to have an unlocked device
deploy "advanced config" into your phone (last version will install inside Settings menu, last position)
go to Sounds
choose your favourite tone (don't worry if Advanced config returns an error)
Unfortunately, you will not find their name, i.e. Yes-Roundabout, but a long number (can't know why......): don't try to rename them.
I tried it using TouchXplorer, but neither Advanced config nor usual Settings menu voice could find them!?!?!
Don't know if it's related to the fact that they're mp3... wp's mystery
Easiest way to do this is with Get Advanced Config for your phone This will allow you to change ANY tone on your windows phone 7. =D
To add ringtones you just need Zune and this handy guide
Hope this helps
Uhm... Today it didn't functioned... When I chose with advanced config the "new" sms tone, hothing happened when sms arrived...
And in Settings menu I could only find no sms tone chosen... Maybe I'm missing some other step (changing something in the registry or, simply, remove and reinstall advanced config... bah)

When you use advanced config it will show nothing in the actual ring settings menu of the phone.
However, when you apply it with advanced config it does save and you click ok. Restart your phone and the ring tone(s) should be applied.

I just tried: after device reboot, I received an sms with the remaining credit
and it didn't rang...
I think my phone is an obstinate opponent as its owner some times is...
I will try converting mp3 to wma, or changing some keys in the registry...
This use to work for me before the new HTC firmware update

Make sure that your Alerts are set to something like Alert 1 or Alert 9 under settings, I found out that if they are set to none, the reg hack won't take place; if that doesn't work then you might have v2 or 3 drivers that have dissabled you from edeting the reg like me.

If you have accepted any current or recent HTC updates to your phone then you have the newest drivers that are imbeded in your firmware. But if you go to Settings, About and then more information; you should see your OS, Firmware, Radio versions.

Hello Floods,
did you try this way? Summarizing it says we have to overwrite the already present alert tones... Not tried yet by my side, just found it...
