After almost a year of flawless operation, the wireless charging on my Nexus 5 stopped working. Over a period of 4 days or so, it became intermittent and then stopped working completely. I have multiple wireless chargers and it fails to charge on all of them. Similarly, my N7 charges fine on all chargers, so I concluded my phone was bad.
After doing a TWRP backup, I did a warranty exchange with Google. Wireless charging initially worked fine on the replacement phone and I restored my TWRP backup. Again, over a few days, wireless charging became intermittent and then stopped completely. Again, my N5 fails on all of my chargers while my N7 works on all my chargers.
What could cause this? Could a rouge app be doing this? I'm planning to install a factory image to see if it charges then, but I haven't had time to do so yet.

Have you tried pressing down on the back of the phone in case some contacts are loose?

Yeah worth doing this if it's been dropped or compressed in any way. There are various contact clips that need to be in place around the back. I had an issue when I removed my back. I had to push it down firmly around the edges and centre to get it working again. Although if it stopped again after a restore, it could well be software and a reset will determine that
Thanks guys. Yes, I have tried squeezing the back with no success. I am aware that there is an additional clip near the upper middle of the phone. It appears to be properly clipped in place. I should add that since this is a new (refurbished) phone, I have never removed the back or dropped the phone, so I haven't done anything that would loosen any of the contacts on the back cover.
Does it work when the phone is switched off? That should eliminate any software issues.

Ah, of course!
I just tested both while off and while booted into recovery and it does not charge. So, the question is, am I really unlucky enough to get a phone with a bad charging mechanism after just returning a phone with the same fault? Or am I doing something to damage the phone? Is it possible that one of my wireless chargers is defective in a way that damages the phones charging circuit?

That does sound pretty unlucky!
What current does each of your wireless chargers use? Mine is 1.2A, never tried a stronger charger. Not sure if a stronger current could damage it though.
Have you had a read of this thread? There's some pretty detailed testing done there.
Maybe @Datsun.510 might know?

I don't know. My primary chargers are a Nokia DT-900 and DT-910. I think there are many people using those with the Nexus 5.
I finally called Google and they think I just got a bad replacement unit. I'm skeptical, but they're sending me another one, so we'll see.

For the benefit of anyone with the same problem who reads this:
I've been using the 2nd replacement unit for almost 2 weeks now, and wireless charging still works fine. I still find it unlikely that I just happened to get a replacement with bad Qi charging, but I'm glad I requested another replacement. As expected, Google offered to replace it with no questions asked. Great customer service. (I thought I read somewhere that each purchase is only eligible for one warranty exchange. I suppose in my case, if they really sent me a bad one, I'd be upset if they refused.)

Google is much better than any other company when it comes to these things
Today I noticed that galaxy s6 won't charge anymore. Tried different cables and chargers.
If I move charger cable a bit it, 'charging logo goes on' and nothing else. Also somehow I managed to turn on the device but it showed 0% and after couple sec it went off.
What could be the problem? Charging port or battery ?

Have you ever dropped it in water ?
Mine did this a few weeks ago until I blew into the charge port and then it was fine. It didn't really look that dirty so I was surprised it worked.
If you already replace the cables it must have something in the USB port on your phone, try cleaning with a thin pin, it helped me more than once.

They said that there is a corrosion inside the charging port. As it is my brothers' phone I cannot confirm if the phone was wet or something. He just said that he tend to use his phone when it was raining outside. The best part was when I went to the service she plugged in with her charger and phone started to charge, but I still agreed to check the phone. Now I got refused warranty and not sure what to do next.

Think you've got 2 options here, if you are capable of taking apart the phone you can see the level of corrosion and see if you can clean things up or take it to a 3rd party and get the charging port replaced.

I had some experience when I was changing some parts for LG G4 and galaxy s4. Hopefully it's similar.
Do you think that I should replace that port? as it's charging now.

I think for the time being see how it goes, maybe what happened is when the charger was inserted at centre it may have worn away some of the corrosion on the pins when the contacts rubbed against each other, but long term id look at getting it replaced.

That's really good point. I know that for the car you can use spray against corrosion and the corrosion goes away. Would that be something that can be used for the phone and some stick to clean it ?

You have to becareful with anything that's liquid based, as it could possibly cause a short so becareful with that.
The lg and s4 would have been a lot easier to work on. I've had a few lg phones apart since they always break on me and their one upside is that they were very easy to fix.

I'm form Israel and here we got lots of 3rd party phone labs that fixes phones.
If its like that there too, use them.
Anyone had issues with the phone charger?
My girlfriend is using an S7 and she has a lot of problems with the charger. Phone is not rooted or any custom ROM. Just stock. I replaced the chargers twice until now. The first one took almost a year to break. This one took like 6 months or so.. Has anyone encountered this type of issue before? All the chargers are taken directly from Samsung.
Charger starts to show signs of malfunction when it's missing the fast charge option or not charging at all. Then it returns to normal. Then in a matter of days the charger is not working anymore.
Phone variant is G930F. I'll attach a screen of Ampere after the last "charging" with the broken charger. It took the print screen after a minute or so. It's hard to keep a girl away from her phone.
P.S. Charger is 100% broken as I'm not able to charge my phone with it, so I just want to know if this is a phone issue or a voltage issue.
Sounds more likely that the phone is damaging the chargers vs you constantly getting bad charger replacements

You should bring it to the service center, and they will check the port for you. Thing is, the port might be bad, and for this reason it kills all the chargers you buy as a replacement. A sign of this if the charger cable gets very hot on the end closer to the port. I mean the micro usb plug itself. But thats one thing, if it isn't happening, the port could still be broken. You should go see if the port is fine. If it is, then I suspect it as a voltage issue in the house, or something. So worth checking that too. Hope you still have a guarantee on the phone. Because then they supposed to fix it no cost. You sholud try if data transfer is working through cable. If not then it shows again, port issue. If you don't want to to use the phone connected to a PC, or otherwise an easy solution could be buying a wireless charger. So then you didn't fixed the port, but the phone will be charging. But first make sure it's not the houses voltage problem, or the wallplug, because if it is, then it can ruin your wireless charger too.

Well thats not an easy one. But I don't really think that's the issue here. If she isn't living in an old house, then there is very little chance of a problem with the curcits. You should ask her if she had any random power breaks or such things in her house. Or light bulbs going wrong too fast. But as I said, I don't think thats the problem. It will be the port, I just mentioned the voltage as a possibility, and the thing what you should keep in mind.
So I suggest Her buying a wireless charger, as her phone is an S7, she can do that. But if I were in her situation I would bring it for a check to Samsung, or wherever she bought the phone (ofcourse if she still has a guarantee as I mentioned earlier). To tell the truth, as I see the problem is with the port, and depending on what you said, I don't think a home solution or buying another charger would be enough in this case.

Yeah, I would've sent it to warranty if she had any. She doesn't know much about phones so I feel responsible with this matter.
I think wireless charger is the best solution.

Yeah I think so too. And you know. There is the swag in that She can show to friends like: "Look my phone is charging without plugged in" or something like that.

She got the phone unsealed with "one hour use before" from a local "dealer". I don't approve this and I don't trust him. Apparently he's a good friend with some of her family's friends.
Still returning a phone after one hour of use is not something someone would do if it was working ok. He told me the other user loves Apple more.
Even though i think the other user didn't notice the voltage issue, as it took almost a year for me, until the first charger broke down.
But i prefer sealed products. Even though they don't have warranty as I flash a lot of stuff.

Okay so hi again! Just a quick update here. Maybe if someone reads later. So I was watching this video for fun:
There is a part of the video where he disconnects the battery. He clearly says that the micro-usb port and the wireless charging part is connected with a different cable. Thus the wireless charging still works, even if the port is broke.
I thought it was good to mention this, I was sure about this before, but here you can see clear confirmation on it. The part in question is somewhere in the middle of the video.
So if you manage to screw up your port, wireless charging will be still functional for sure!

Greetings all! I need a bit of help regarding my device - Moto G3/Moto G 2015 (Osprey - XT1550) 2gb Indian version. The device has been running flawlessly on Stock Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow since I got it in January 2016. However since yesterday, the dual led flash isnt working properly. Only the bottom (white) led lights up when I turn on the torch or use the flash. The top one doesnt light up. However, when I press at the back near or around the LED, the top one also lights up. It turns off again as soon as I remove my hand. I think some internal connection may have gotten loose and I dont think its a software issue, but I would like someone to tell me if its so. Also, any fix to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's high time to replace the device's battery. The battery bulges gradually and as the flashlight connectors are just above the battery they lose contact with the terminals, so I would suggest you to go to a Motorola service center and ask them to show your battery to you, if in case it looks bulged to you get it replaced. After the battery replacement the device will function normally.
3 years is a good time that the battery needs replacement. Go ahead and consult a Motorola service advisor.

I insist you to consult only a Motorola service center. Local chaps mess up the device. So just informing you beforehand.

Yeah there's a Motorola centre near where live so I took the device to them. The guy there told me that in most cases if the battery goes bad, falling battery backup would be a major indication. He also said that if that were the case, the battery would have become bloated and would be easily detected. To find out the problem, he said he would have to open up the device, and this being my daily driver device, I cant afford that right now. Any suggestions as to what should I do next?

The process takes mostly an hour to complete. If the battery goes bad it would cost you around 1500 rupees or so. Go ahead and get the battery inspected and replaced if necessary. My friend also faced the same problem a month ago, so I doubt the battery is the cause of the problem.

So, in the case of your friend, did replacing the battery solve the LED flash issue? Now, do both the LEDs light up when using the flash or torch?

Yes, replacing the battery solved the problem of the dual flashlight.

No probs mate! Its a good device and I want to keep it working for as long as I can.
I had this happen to my phone, I solved it by sort of 'massaging' the camera and flash area with my thumb until the amber LED stopped turning off without applied pressure.
Hello, my oneplus 7 pro recently started giving me low tempereture warnings and the battery percentage would not move from 50% (Accubattery said that the battery temperature was -40).
Every now and then it would randomly fix itself though and this could last from 10 minutes all the way to ~48 hours.
I had the original oem battery on hand as I had replaced it about 9 months ago (battery health said it was on 84% back then and I wanted to have my phone lasting a bit longer), so I thought swapping that one in would fix it, however the issue persists and acts almost identically, no matter which battery I have in the phone.
What are the chances the original battery would break immediately after installing it?
Is it possible that there is another sensor that is broken somewhere in the phone?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks I hadnt seen that software before! It looks like the rest of the sensors are working fine so I guess it really must be 2 bad batteries. I suppose I'll try and order another one and see if that does the trick. Theres no way to bridge the sensor similar to the 3t is there?

It may be the battery ribbon cable or connector.
It could still be a failure on the mobo.
Replace the cable and the battery.
Or ohm out the cable. No clue how to test the sensor unless you can dredge up a service manual online.
