I recently purchased an S7 (no edge) and it mentioned it had a quick/fast charge feature.. great! Faster charging! However, I noticed that with actual use (with screen off I might add) it doesn't really charges that quickly over the normal charge. Maybe a few minutes less, but not much of a difference..
Anyone else having this issue? Using the global version, no root/no ROM (for now).
Of course it works, are you using the oem charger and cable?
Also make sure Fast Charging is enabled under Settings - Battery

Yes, using the stock charger that came with the device. Thus far, returned the S7 when I first received it due to the same 'fast/quick charging' not working. So, this is the second S7 device I'm having.

Fast Charging is enabled by default, so ya.. that's not the problem either.
Fast charging means tha from 0 to 60 % it charges fast (30 minutes) and after 60% it charges with normal speed.

are you sure about this information man ?
it works but you have to have it enabled in settings/battery.
Recently I noticed that my fast charger wasn't doing it's job as the charge rate was 'standard'. So I checked with old charger from Note 4 and it's cable, it worked wihtout issues as 'fast charge'. I ended up finding out that the problem was the cable I was using, it got damaged because of use and it's not helping the phone to detect the fast charger. So, just in case, change your cable and check again.

This is a stupid question, but did you plug in the cable correctly into the charger? Mine was like half-assed into it the first time and then quick charge doesn't work. Make sure you lube it up nice and wet and slide it in as deep as possible.
i bought one couple of days ago,and neither me, i dont see any difference between fast and normal charging

I'm currently running Sean's latest leak/update and have noticed significant battery drain despite being plugged into the charger. I never really paid enough attention while on gb roms, so I'm not sure if this is an ics thing or not. My buddy at work has had similar issues and is completely bone stock, so I'm thinking it's just a skyrocket issue.
Anybody else notice this? It happens no matter what I'm doing on the phone and is obviously more noticeable when playing games. It seems to me that the charger should at least compensate for the usage!
It had me so baffled, I've re-flashed multiple times now with the same results.

Yeah... it's 5v/1a. Same with my buddy. I thought that might be the problem, and I had switched it with an old one, but don't think so. I've used the powerskin in the past, and it's also 5v/1a... still drains with it.
I'm totally puzzled! I've changed chargers, gone with/without the powerskin, re-flashed roms, calibrated the battery and who knows what else. Only thing I hadn't done was replace the battery, but now that my buddy is having issues on stock, I don't know if that's the problem or not....

Its probably the battery while charging check if in about phone it says its conncted to ac.
Also are you rooted?
Could also be the cable. I have had the exact issue, replaced the cable and now its fine. Its funny cause the galaxy s2 is far more picky when it comes to chargers/cables. For instance. I can plug it in and the phone won't do a think, yet when I plug it in the skyrocket it will accept the connection.

I've tried diff cable/charger combos... no luck. I had cable issues with my epic (sprint) and knew Samsung had issues with them in the past, so that was one of the first things that came to mind... no dice though!

Test your receptacle with a digital multi meter . The stock charger works great. Enough so
That i spliced 3 high quality usb cable and have over a ten foot cable which charges just fine.
So its possible. U have a bad charger. Crap cables. Or overdrawn circuit whith your receptacles. No enough to trip but enough your charger cant pull 1 amp

I did a 1.5 hour Skype video while on charge and my battery never charged it held at the same percentage. Anything else I do charging outweighs my use. Gotta be the charger or the phone itself. Even if you have no battery in it should still boot off the charger and run correct?

Use any type of root explorer, while charging got to sys/class/power supply/battery
and open batt_current_xxx or something like this, I'll check it later if you get into troubles, breaking my head now with tasker at the moment. It should show a value around 8500, at least that's what it shows for me.
I'm having the same issue on Sean's latest update, my battery current adc file says 2934... I posted this in the sky ics thread
"I've been having some battery issues since coming to this ROM on update six. I'm on nine now and all is well, battery life included once I get it charged up. I'm using OEM Samsung everything, charging block, two different cables, my original battery and a 2100Mah extended for the Gnex. All Samsung, no change between them. This thing just REFUSES to charge if I'm using it while plugged in, and if I leave it alone and let it charge, it takes absolutely forever to charge either battery. The skyrocket battery won't gain one percent charge if I'm using it while plugged in, and the Gnex battery actually discharges slowly! Any ideas? I bought this phone from a member on here and it came with superlite 5 and I don't recall it having this problem."
If the file reading is that low there must be an issue with the amp, if you tried a different charger and cables and it happened since changing roms I'd say its a pure software issue. Maybe you should try flashing a different kernel before trying to change your rom, the problem may be laying there.
I had the same issue but mine was related to the usb cable. With a new micro usb cable my phone charges without issue.

Hello,
I recently purchased a wireless charging station/pad, the Verizon-branded LG WCP-700. I have 3 different batteries for my Thunderbolt (rooted, stock). 2 of them are the stock/original 1400mA batteries from HTC. One came with the phone, the other was purchased additionally from Verizon. The third is the red MyTouch 1650mA battery, purchased from Verizon.
ALL THREE batteries get warm/hot when charging with a corded charger. Still, it charges fine.
When I use my new wireless WCP-700 charging pad, the phone gets VERY HOT (52+ cel., 120-130 far.). Sometimes, it gets so hot that the charging stops. But sometimes, it charges throughout the night and fully charges the battery, which is fine. This happens with ALL THREE batteries.
What is wrong and what can be done?
Not interested in installing a new kernel, etc.
Not running many background apps.

I've heard, but don't know for certain, that tethering while charging can cause overheating and damage.

Yes. But wired charging works fine (even when tethering).
(btw, is there a better app to use than Wireless Tether? I like it, but my computer keeps losing connection. I have to stop and restart the app).

If its called "wifi tether for root users" in the marketplace, scroll down to the "more by developer" section and try the other one. It's titled the same thing, but has a green wifi icon.
See if that one works any better for you.
Some phones use one better than the other.

so have you found a fix for this? or is it just the nature of things?
RBarnett09-
I have tried two apps:
WiFi Tether for Root Users:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...tLmdvb2dsZWNvZGUuYW5kcm9pZC53aWZpLnRldGhlciJd
Wireless Tether for Root Users:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=android.tether&feature=related_apps
Both current versions. (although, oddly, it seems that "Wifi" uses "Wireless"'s service).
Both give me the same overheating results.
Any other options?
In my experience it doesn't matter what tether I use it gets hit. That is just the nature of what is going on. The 4g radio is pulling a lot of data and WiFi is having to broadcast all that. Not to mention the CPU has to process all of that. Sounds like a heat generator to me. Oh and don't forget that you're charging the phone at the same time which also generates heat.

with the stock charger, about 2.5 hours. i went and bought a 3.1 amp charger yesterday, and it charged my phone from 5% to 100% in 1 hour 30 minutes!
it would all depend on the charger you are using(no, they all arent equal), and whether you are charging via wall or usb.

Ok Now this game is getting dirty and don't bring nationality in between....as per you have done b.tech whats the big deal in it.
On topic nexus 5 uses battery charging IC( TI BQ24192) which does not support more than 1.5A current so even if you use a 10A charger max it will take is 1.5A.

Has anyone checked their charging rate with a battery monitoring app ? I have been experimenting with different chargers and I can't seem to get the charge rate >1A. The max I have been able to get with the phone in idle with the screen off is 1010ma.
This is nowhere close to the 1.5A max.
I'm running Carbon ROM + LaboDJ's version of Franco r49. I've tested using the Nexus 4/Nexus 5/Nexus 10/Blackberry Playbook chargers.
To charge from 0 - 100 takes me over ~2.5hours.
My nexus 7 charger takes just over an hour from 10 to 100.
Hi every body, as you know, galaxy S6 has a feature called fast charging. But in fact, the fast charge ability stops at 60% battery, from 60-100%, it comes back to normal charging. Does any one know how to increase the percentage of battery charging in fast charge mode !?
Thank you !
You cant do that and you should not even want to,as it would damage and shorten the life of the battery.
the one factor impacts charging time (not only fast charging) is usage with mobile network. Try to enable airplane mode to decrease charging time.

You can't... the more the battery charges the more resistance it develops the slower it is going to complete charging..

Thats right.. all things have limitations
Well, if you really want a shorter charging time, why don't you turn the device OFF while charging ?
This should take at least another 10mins off the total charging time...
The phone already charges from 0 to 90% in 1 hour..

Personally I'll avoid fast charging as much as possible, as heat will build up when you fast charge & heat is the enemy of any lithium based battery.
So I slow charge it over night...and only (super) fast charge it when I'm in a hurry...[emoji16]
