Phone charges and turns off if I use it too much while it's charging (5 minutes). When unplugged from the charger it happens too.
Any solution? Having a similar issue
What are you doing on your phone during the moments before it turns off? Was it warm/hot to the touch before it turns off?
The only thing that comes to my mind is that it's overheating from what you're doing, and is automatically shutting itself off to prevent any potential damage that could be caused were it to not do so. Playing a game can easily increase the temps because GPUs on MediaTek phones aren't that great compared to phones with Snapdragon , Exynos or Kirin SoCs, so it needs to push itself harder to get better performance.
Sometimes watching videos from a web browser instead of an application can cause the phone to get hot as well. In fact, my Pure XL shut itself down once after I watched about ~40mins worth of video on Chrome instead of YouTube.
Nothing else comes to my mind on this. Just try to let your phone take breaks every once in a while as well.

My phone actually will usually not boot. It starts booting then usually shuts off as he blu bubble animation comes on. If it's plugged in it will go farther and sometimes completely boot but will shut off after a couple of minutes or if he phone is unplugged.
I've tried flashing the gionee rom several times and accidentally forgot to uncheck everything and have the gionee preloaded now.
OP, is this similar to your issue? Have you tried flashing or backing up?
---------- Post added at 10:51 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:26 AM ----------
Also I don't know if this has anything to do with anything but when running so flash tool, the only way it will attemp and recognize the phone is by holding down power and both volume buttons

This is exactly what my issue is too! Well it used to be, but now it doesn't turn on at all. Charge or no charge. I have flashed my device many times, did not fix at all. Right now I'm actually trying to flash it again for the sake of it, but I can't access the boot loader for some reason.

Thanks for the input and advice. I can't seem to find a battery for it anywhere. I spoke with blu about it and as I've seen before they want a receipt to verify proof of purchase date but the phone is still under a year old. I waiting to hear back from them now. I've been able to flash it a few times even tried using the complete gionee rom but still same issue. I think that it is a battery issue too. I love the phone ever since it was announced but haven't even been able to use it since i purchased it a couple weeks ago. Have you found a battery for it?

I also at one point found one on ebay for 10$, but it sold out
I've got the same problem:
When plugged in it's usable
When unplugged it dies immediately when i turn it on
Doesn't seem to be a battery issue though as i am currently unplugged and on recovery mode and its been on for an hour now

Hmmm... What were you doing prior to it not working? Dropped? Something minor occur resulting a reboot? When did you buy it? Finally... Any physical damage on the castor screen from impact damage?
I've rooted the phone, and before when I've reboot the battery appear on the screen...
I know with my captivate I used to be able to take the battery out, plug it in and it would boot. Try that... Yank tha battery, plug it in, and try to boot it

Try using the fxz file. My phone used to be glichy and do weird things. I flashed it and now it works fine.
Can u boot into AP fastboot mode?
no the phone is like totaly dead i cant even do a hard reset nothing at all....
could it be just a bad cable and it wont charge?
Do u still have the warranty? If so I'd just get a new one. It sounds to me like u have a bad phone! Did u get it from best buy?

Oh in Europe? I assumed u were in the states! My bad im sure u mentioned it. I just wasn't paying attention.... lol. So u see nothing at boot ? Not even the M in the start? Nothing at all?
Well the only thing I can think of at the moment is:
Press the volume buttons at the same time and hold them down.
Then press the power button.
In the menus look for AP fastboot.
If u can see that u can flash the fxz. Im sorry. Its 1:30 a.m. here in California! Im so tired. Im sorry if I couldn't help u! :-/

The same thing happened to me after rooting and flashing Romulus. Used the phone a week or two, never rebooted it. Battery ran dead one night and wouldn't boot the next day. It seemed to not want to take the power from a usb hook up(pc), white lcd light and even self booted like in the quote here. Finally, during a self boot, plugged it in to a wall charger and it recharged no problem.
I definitely think there's a glitch with NO POWER AVAIL in this model's bootloader somewhere, and I'm in the US! Kinda afraid to turn the damn thing off again though...
Any delving would be nice!!!

It's not ROM related, it's dead battery and charge-mode related. I think that there is not enough battery to boot into charge mode. Power cycling can help if you catch it and plug in at the right time.. or you could always go MacGyver on it... see HERE for some previous discussion on this subject. Glad you got it to work, though.
Also, you need to reboot your phone more often than once a week (try like once every day or two) - or it can start to slow down and lag.
white led means insufficient power..
you need to use your wall charger...
what if there is no Led what so ever?
tried charging the battery and it seems it did, because it got a little hot
but stiLL didnt turn on a bit, its Like compLeteLy dead now.
i was trying to fLash the stock rom 4.0 with rsd Lite and when it 'reboot' to start doing its stuff, it never booted again
and after that im not able to see any lights on my phone, (tried aLL key combination)
(ceLLphone has no guarantee, bought it on ebay)
do i need to send it to a repair shop, or change the circuit board?

If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.
i saw that thread before and i couLdn't find it, thanx for the Link.
My issue is that when I take a photo on my Nexus 5 and it is under around 60% of battery it shuts down, the screen just goes black (phone is complexly off and dead) and the device will not respond to ANY input until it is plugged into a power source, then it will boot up and function normally. This issue occurred about two weeks after I installed Android 5 however I do not believe it is related due to factory resets, different roms and the issue is still persisting. When the problem started I had recently (a week or so before) moved to Germany, my initial thoughts were that the battery was the problem as when it first happened the phone rebooted and only had 5% left even though the device had around 50% before I took the photo, from then on the battery life was terrible so I purchased a new battery and installed it. The battery problem was solved (battery life was normal) and when the phone crashed it didn't boot up with any difference to the percentage of battery that was remaining. I am now thinking that something to do with the change in power supplies damaged the device. I think this is unlikely though as Australia (where I am from) and Germany (where I was when the issue started) both run on 240V, the stock power adapter was used just with a euro adapter. I have tried to collect logcats however I can't see any errors before it cuts off (I'm no dev by any means so I could be missing something)
Last thing is that this issue NEVER occurs when the device is charging so I'm thinking that it is a hardware problem. And of course the phone is out of warranty.
Any help or light on this occurrence would be amazing.
Try with some custom camera apps on play store, If that didn't work then i think the problem is with regard to hardware.
Let me know if that worked.

It didn't seem to help, It also crashes when running Geek Bench 3 so I am thinking that it may be a CPU problem (CPU gets ramped up when taking photos) So I'm not sure what to do, it's beginning to be a major issue. Thanks for your help though.
I also have the exact same problem, I believe it started a while ago. The only thing that seems to help for me is to plug it in as well.. Any news regarding the issue?

It sure doesn't look that way. And it doesn't happen every time. I also kind of got the feeling that it happens when the battery is kind of low.. (Like below 60% or so, at least the last time it was 52)

Did you try fastboot flash system system.img?
Yes I did, I have tried different versions of android from googles factory image page and nothing seems to have helped :/
Does anyone know if the new Android 5.1 update resolves the issue? There's no OTA just yet, but the factory images have been published.

I ran into the same issue with my N5. It started happening for me when I flashed to version 5.1 (factory image).
same problem here
I have the same problem. It is worst since I replaced the battery some days ago, and actually it just happened again while I was trying to reply to this thread, not using the camera (but it's the first time it happens while not taking pictures).
Anybody got some new info? I'm on 5.1, btw.
i am trying to fix my friends phone. she has a nexus 5, and as the battery was only lasting 8 hours, she decided to buy a new battery and replace it.
since the replacement, the phone shuts off randomly, once she takes a picture.
it can only be powered back on, if it is plugged into a charger.
now we changed the original LG battery into the phone, but since 7 days there is not one reboot with the original battery.
she did buy 2 "original" batteries from ebay, and the polar battery with 2450a but all 3 batteries have the same issue.
as the original LG battery has no issues, i suspect that the non-original fake china copies sold on ebay and amazon have a problem.
now she has ordered the original battery from LG directly, and once that one is tested i will post a comment again.
cheers thomas
I also have the problem (using Polarcell Akku for my Nexus 5).
Switched back to the original Battery: Problem solved.
Gesendet von meinem Androiden mit Tapatalk Pro
I'll swap the original battery in
I'll update you on what happens
Found the issue
So it looks like that was the issue, the old battery has its own problems but the issue with it shutting down when the phone was under load has stopped.
Anyone know where I can get a genuine battery in Australia?
confirmed new original/genuine bateries have the same problem. Tested with Lg direct supply battery, pollarcell 2450 battery, eBay battery (seems exactly the same as original LG supply, so i believe is it genuine too).
i think the problem isn't the battery at all, the phone is also eating more power, then under high load conditions and low battery charge (no really need to be low) adding the flashligh comsumption discharges all the capacitors on the main power line and the phone hangs.
a rare thing makes the original unbranded battery wich came with the phone to work well even if battery autonomy is broken. I'll try this weekend to transplant the small ciruit boar of the real original battery of the phone into another of the new ones i have. Maybe the output power regulator itself need to relax a bit to keep the main power line with battery voltage current all the time. And the new ones aren't relaxed...
i'll post again until few tests during this weekend.
That would be awesome but I do believe that in my case it was battery related as I replaced my battery about a week ago and it hasn't happened since, I've tried many many times even when the battery was on 2% and it still didn't crash I bought the replacement on eBay (I believe it's genuine) and everything seems to work correctly. I'll be interested to see your test results though.
I started to have the same exact issue with my Nexus 5 camera and it won't boot until I connect it to a charger. I noticed that when I turn off the flash this issue disappears.

same issue here... anyone has an idea if there some log-files that can be checked in order to see what process can be related to this issue?
I have a Idol 3 6045, and the weirdest thing keeps happening. For some odd reason, whenever i try to turn it on, i get to the alcatel screen, then the phone thinks it has no battery and shuts off, when in fact, the battery is full.
I have tried the following to no avail:
reflashing via mobile upgrade q
draining the battery completely and then leaving it plug in over night to recharge
wiping cache via recovery
factory reset
Also, when the phone has some battery, and is plugged in, it goes into bootloop cycle where the phone turns on, goes to the battery symbol screen and then turns off, over and over again. I know the batter can hold a charge, so i am confused as to why the phone just turns off during the boot process thinking its dead.
Any ideas? btw, the phone is sadly bootlocked and does not have a custom recovery.

Sure. The model you're looking for is OT6045i. I don't think it matters the variant OT6045i should cover them all (assuming you have the 5.5 inch Idol 3) For your date code just leave it blank. Go through those steps and print the RMA sheet they give you in the end. After printing I wrote the purchase date in the date code slot( probably doesn't matter) . Once you have your sheet just ship that RMA sheet with your phone to the address the give you. I believe it's in Richardson, Texas

Hi All,
I'm facing a weird issue with my phone from more than 2 months and it has reached a frustrated level now. It used to shut off at levels like 15%, sometimes between 15-25%. But nowadays, it shuts down automatically at 40-60% and that is really unreliable. So, i wanted to check if there are other people facing the same issue or is it only my device. Please share your views, any possible solutions, possible reasons, and if applicable, similar experiences.

Well i do hope you won't face any issues with your phone. But this is totally weird. This is making my phone unreliable for me.

thanks so much, bought it after my nexus4 died which im still sad about because its one of my 1st real android phones after having a contract android phone.
As an update, i kept my phone on charge for straight 4-5 hours. and now it shuts down after 20-25%. Definitely an improvement. But still it's a mystery why does it show this bug in the first place.
Umm, how has no one mentioned maybe trying battery calibration!? Seems like a fairly obvious first step here to take before swapping out for a new battery.. Plug the phone in and let it charge entirely. Even at 100% in Settings > Battery it will still show "100% - Charging on AC" (or USB whatever you've got connected)
You need to wait for that to turn into "100% - Charged." Then, calibrate using any battery calibration app from the playstore, ( I use this one )
After it charges to 100% - Charged, hit "calibrate" in the app, disconnect the charger, and let it drain entirely. You might find it dying out before 0% once again, but this hopefully should have been the last time. Plug the phone in and switch it on as soon as you can while it starts to charge. Let it charge uninterruptedly to 100% - Charged, again.
Not saying this might solve it 100% but it is an option to try.

Well already tried and i may sound a bit silly, but studies have proved that battery calibration is a myth. Android automatically cleans the batterystats.bin file after every single full charge. Rest assured, i have already done that with no avail.

I had the same problem, phone was switching off @ 40% and at times @35%. Battery calibration certainly helped. No more problems now. Works well if the phone is rooted.
My OPO is having a reboot issue, was on cos13, cm14.1 and ubuntu with mutirom,
Symptoms
1. the phone stays on if connected to a charger or powerbank.
and without charger it bootloops at the 1+ logo
2. in switched off state, when charger is connected the battery sometimes shows 0% and increases to 100%
3. with charger i entered cm recovery, removed the charger, the phone stayed all night long with cm recovery menu display on.
after draining the battery, i plugged back charger and the phone in switched off state did show the regular charging animation and took the usual time to full charge.
after full charge I removed the charger, tried to power on the phone boot loops at 1+ logo.
4. without charger it can enter fastboot mode.
5. with charger it can boot into os, shows charging, led lit up, but after removing charger it won't stay long, also if opening camera it turns off.
6. even on powerbank it can boot up and stay switched on. and work normally (camera etc anything)
(7. while turned off and on charger the animation shows charging but the top led isn't on.) - I don't remember it lighting up on charging while switched off
8. the night before this issue occured, my phone rebooted twice while watching youtube. and in the previous nights also I noticed battery dropping overnight.
what all I tried,
1. fastboot flashed cos, - not solved
2. flashed using Qualcomm USB port tool - not solved.
3. ran the make_ext4fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p15 command in twrp. - not solved.
4. erased and flashed persist.img - not solved.
so what could be the problem, opo is now my secondary phone, now using op3 as primary.
The battery is at its end of its life....replace the battery and all your problem will be gone...
you're not the only one that have experiences this problem (i have seen more then 10 people having the same problem)...last year and this year there a lot of people having bootloop problem due to dying battery...factory reset, flash stock rom and etc won't help you solved this problem...
i personally have this problem last year and after i replace the battery all my problem gone...i think Oneplus made OPO batteries only lasted for 2 and a half year....

thanks for the reply i guessed that, but still wasn't sure, can it be also due to any issues to board, anyway since i've done with flashing and all i'll try an OP service center, and hope it won't costs me big.

Nope it is not issues with the motherboard but batteries...the phone can be turn on like normal when charger is connected and goes into bootloop once the charger is disconnected....its a clear sign that the battery is dying...when it connected to the charger, it may look like the battery is full but it is not...just buy a new battery and all your problem will be gone...you can try flashing lot of rom, revert to stock or whatever you do in fastboot but it ain't gonna help you...it might boot normally but within an hour it will goes back to bootloop....
like i said before i was on the same pages as you last year...all the flashing stuff didn't work until i replace the battery....there no issues with the motherboard whatsoever....my phone still work atm without any bootloop problem...
feel free to go to OP services center if you want, if they tell you it was a motherboard issues then you have been screwed by the services center by repairing something that is still in good condition and you gonna pay more then just a batteries afterwards...

I have almost exactly the same problem. The thing is I cannot find a way to enter multirom recovery even on a charger. When on a charger it tries to boot into my primary rom but gets stuck on it endlessly.
Are you sure its the battery? I mean, mine charges to 100% when plugged in and doesnt seem to have any problem with charging. Mine did it a few days ago, it went into a bootloop for no reason. I havent touched anything for a year and it happened so randomly and lost everything I had on it...

Hey dude Thanks a lot... I was facing exactly same issue for last 2 days... I bought OPO on Dec 5 th 2014... I think its battery only works 2 years...
@iPusak Gaoq™, tried to get a suitable battery online but the shipping charge killed most deals, some were even counterfeits, so finally I decided to visit an op service centre, they replaced the battery with a new one, now my OPO is good as new. thanks again.
I was just going to post, about my issue, but the forum suggested your post. I read the first post, and yes, I am facing the exact same problem. Taking a picture and the phone shuts off. Vibrating from getting a notification and restart.
And the saddest part, the phone won't boot into OS if is it not plugged to PC or AC power.
My Opo is almost two years old. Can you suggest a good battery replacement for me?

Hard to suggest which batteries is good if you planning to bought it online cause there no way you can know whether the batteries you gonna buy is original or OEM...only when you bought the batteries in a retail store then you can see whether its original or OEM and yes the differences between both batteries is noticeable...
