So i thought a compilation of working tweaks and mods we can now do with root access would be nice. Anyone who wants to add to this can do so, I'll add it to the OP with credits. Other tweaks and mods from around xda will be added as links to their respective threads.

- L Speed ( Suggested app by @sirslipzalot )
L Speed is a modification that combines tweaks inside an intuitive application, the main goal of the tweaks is to improve performance, reduce stutters and lags, and expands battery life.
The mod will and should work on any device that meets its minimum requirement.
You only need a rooted Android device, Android 4.0 and later is needed for L Speed app to function properly.
L Speed by Paget96
Replace Sprint Boot Animation with standard Samsung Boot
Using any root file explorer, navigate to /system/media. In this folder, you'll find three files that begin with "SPR". Rename them as shown in the pic below with .bak, or you can delete them.
Threads you should check out: - @psouza4 has made an All-In-One Mod Package that fixes and changes a number of things. In the OP under Recommended Next Steps section. Make sure you don't choose the VZW zips. Also comes in debloater variety!
- @_alexndr has made a universal init.d enabler that will add init.d support to ALL devices!!
- @Debuffer has made a Governor Tuner that will add the ability to change governor settings using pre-written profiles using a terminal emulator! Note: this will require your phone to have init.d support through the link above this, or by other means. (Suggested by @Soooperstar)
Want fancy boot animations? Here's a few: - Master Themer @pas2001 has a number of custom boot ani's here! A number of them are branded to the Galaxy S6/S6Edge, but there are many that are not! (suggested by @Soooperstar)

Note 1: If you choose to use CSC Feature Expert by @wanam to edit your device, insure you know what you are doing! Changing something you are not 99.9% sure what it is can cause irreversible consequences.
NON ROOT Required Mods:
- Galaxy Labs:
Adds Galaxy Labs to Settings/Advanced Features (root not required)
Mega
- Display Scaling Activity
This setting is available on the SM935U Firmware base. Here is how you can get it with any other firmware base that doesn't already have it:
1. Download More Shortcuts. It's made as an addition to Total Launcher, but you can use it as a stand-alone app, as well.
2. Go to "Activity", scroll down to settings, and expand settings. Check out to pictures below to see what you're looking for exactly. Basically it condenses menus and icons to allow more info to be shown at one time.

Go here to find the animation that you want. Some are custom for the S6 but there are some generic ones also. For me to get them to work I had to duplicate and rename some files.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/themes-apps/boot-animation-stylepas2001-t3116925
Once you find the one you want, duplicate those same files and rename with SPR and XAS exactly like I have in my screenshot. Copy them over to system media to overwrite the old bootanimation. Ignore the folder that says edge V, that's just an additional bootanimation I have. You only need the shutdown animation if you have a shutdown file

Some of what that thread goes into is mentioned in this op in one form or another. There are a few threads that give full step by step instructions for phone efficiency tweaking. But since one way may work for some but not others, and visa versa, i don't think they should be part of this. Plus there is the whole xposed thing, which is a separate ball of wax, that even well versed and experienced rooters (like myself) have problems with. Let alone the noobies.
The point of this thread is to give anyone who wants to mod the ability to. Nothing too crazy. As easy to understand as possible. Sure, following directions in the thread you mentioned can be done by anyone regardless of experience. But that's a lot of tweaking all at once. A misstep could cause minor or major issues, and an inexperienced user won't know what the heck happened. Which could lead them to be completely turned away from rooting (...possibly).
However I will consider adding it. Maybe include a separate section for threads like this one.
Thank you for the suggestion!

I was just curious if someone had tried the Gov-Tuner mod. I had root for a while, but the battery drain killed me, so I went to the U. I found workarounds for ad blocking; volume key skip track; mute youtube ads; and hotspot so I good, but wanted to see if it made a difference. It has an uninstaller zip if it doesn't work, so thought I would post it here.

This update zip will replace the SystemUI.apk with one that has the wifi toggle switch enabled in the notification panel. Flash with recovery. A thanks to Cheater912 for requesting this mod.
Note: The toggle switches have been slightly rearranged per my preferences. If you would prefer do have a different order, post reply below.
Please note that there are different versions for stock and for beans rom. Beans are marked accordingly. However, the launcher you are using does not matter.

ICS Blue Mod EDIT: Ghosting should be fixed now
I will not be accepting custom requests for the ICS Blue series due to the number of files involved. I apologize for the inconvenience. I wasn't expecting such a huge amount of traffic and requests coming in. Thanks for being a great and active community. I will work to develop a solution with which to allow customized versions of it in the near future. I might create an ICS blue version for the second most popular toggle configuration based on dl count. Most likely one with MobileData in the first section.
The current configuration is as follows:
-Toggle Order: BT/Wifi/GPS/Orientation/Sound/PowerSave/Airplane/DrivingMode/MobileData/Sync
-All Toggles are themed blue
-Battery Icon is themed blue
EDIT: GREEN BEANS IS FIXED!! (no really, it is this time. tested + confirmed)
Both stock and beans versions are available. See attached
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To-Do List (bean support where noted) REQUESTS ARE NOW CLOSED (SEE EXPLANATION BELOW)
-kill gps crosshairs (multiple requests) See here for progress
-stock with wifi instead of screen rotation (stam2000) [In Progress]
-wifi/sound/mobiledata/screenrotate/airplane/powersave (cvballa3g0) [In Progress]
-remove "battery is full" notification (revolt1) See here for progress
-color date ICS blue (Schaweet)
-AntiToggle w/ ICS Blue battery (aatrek)
-Wifi/BT/GPS/Airplane/Orientation/Sound/DrivingMode/MobileData/Sync (Zoandroid)
-No Animation (MAD Industries)
if you are on this list and you are using the bean rom and the entry is not marked for bean, please send me a PM so I can correct it
CLOSED: Because I need to develop a system to more quickly and dynamically generate these files. This will allow a greater level of support as well as personalization. The tradeoff is time. I will have to devote a certain amount of time to this project instead of the requests once I am through with the current list. Rest assured if you are on the list right now, you have priority. Thank you for all the positive feedback this thread has gained. It's had much more impact than I could have imagined.

Could you possibly explain which xml files and which parts of those files to edit in order to get rid of certain toggles? I only want 5 total toggles on there and am just now learning how to edit this stuff.
WOW thanks a lot this is great! Can you post a Screen shot?
Any chance you can make one with just GPS, WiFi, Mobile Data, Airplane Mode, Bluetooth? in that order? Im on VZW btw

Sure. You will want to decompile /system/app/SystemUI.apk using apktool. (dont forget to apktool if framework-res.apk so you dont get decompile errors, also make a backup of SystemUI.apk) Then go to /SystemUI/res/values/arrays.xml and you will find a quicksettings array. That will list both the order and type of toggles. You just add/remove/move the lines around.
EDIT: Also, you cant just recompile and push to phone. You must recompile and pull the resources.arsc out of the new apk and then slip that into the original apk file that you pulled.
If you need more specific help, join me on freenode. #verizons3

Yes, I updated the OP with an option for stock. Also, can you confirm this is now working? (just making sure)
Dumb noob question
What does "flash with recovery" mean?
If I already have a rooted phone, can I just rename the existing SystemUI.apk and copy this one into its directory with Root Explorer?

STORY:
MY NAME IS MICHAEL AND I AM A NEW DEVELOPER...WHEN I SAY NEW I REALLY MEAN NEW! I AM IN NO WAY AS SKILLED AS THE OTHER MAGNIFICENT DEVELOPERS THAT ARE HERE ON XDA. I AM SIMPLY DOING THIS FOR FUN AND TRYING TO BUILD MY SKILLS STEP BY STEP. I WAS FIRST INFLUENCED A WHILE BACK WHEN I HAD MY FIRST ANDROID PHONE WHICH WAS THE OG DROID AND I ALWAYS WANTED TO BUILD ROMS AND DO MY OWN THEMEING. SIMPLE FACT WAS THAT AT THAT TIME THERE WERE NO DEVS THAT REALLY WANTED TO HELP(AT LEAST FROM WHAT I SAW) SO NOW A FEW YEARS PASS BY AND I FINALLY SAW A GREAT DEV POST A GREAT THREAD ABOUT HOW TO BUILD YOUR OWN ROM. I READ IT CAREFULLY AND FOLLOWED THE STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS...AND NOW AFTER ABOUT A MONTH FROM READING AND FIGURING OUT LITTLE THINGS HERE AND THERE I HAVE FINALLY BAKED MY OWN ROM ALL THANKS TO EDGEHOOD! HE WAS THE CREATOR OF THE THREAD THAT MADE ME REALIZE THAT I COULD DO MY OWN ROM AND DO IT MY OWN WAY. HE GAVE ME CONFIDENCE IN SOMETHING THAT I DIDN'T HAVE CONFIDENCE IN. THANK YOU EDGEHOOD BECAUSE WITHOUT YOUR WORDS OF WISDOM AND YOUR DO IT YOURSELF THREAD I WOULD HAVE NOT EVEN THINKING TWICE TO TRY TO BUILD MY OWN ROM NOW WITH THAT LITTLE STORY ASIDE LET ME INTRODUCE TO YOU ALL HERE ON XDA THE AVID ROM!!!

Instructions for adding extras...YOU MUST ADD EXTRAS BEFORE YOU INSTALL ROM: download both ROM and Extras .zip; unzip both ROM and Extras to your computer; go into the Extras folder and check out the folders for the extras you want; copy the .apk's you want into system/app on the ROM(note: some Extras require you to also add/replace libs...libs can be found in system/lib on the ROM)(note#2: some of the .apk's in the Extra folder will require you to replace other .apk's in the ROM..just delete the same .apk that is in the ROM and replace it with the .apk you have choosen from the Extras folder); once you are done adding/replacing all the files and/or libs make a .zip folder of: boot, system and meta-inf folders; give the .zip a name and place it on the root of you ext-sdcard; since these are just apps you will not have to do a full wipe BUT WIPE CACHE AND DALVIK CACHE; then flash and your good! once i get aroma down packed then it'll be easier but for now if you want the extras just follow the guide a list of whats in the Extras folder is at bottom where "updates" is at.

He kind of said this is his first ROM, and most of the features are things a lot of other roms have. The important, more subtle part is that we have another dev on scene and although his ROM is pretty standard atm, everyone starts somewhere, even devs like synergy and paranoid, and his future work may start to bring more unique features.
Coming from someone who likes to build his own kernels from source (for fun and learning), and knowing how much work that alone can take until you get the hang of it and get your own process going, I understand his excitement of building a new ROM and getting into the dev community.
To dev: good luck to you man. I usually run rooted stock or synergy (although MOAR has been working itself in there ), so I'll be sure to comment if I find anything.

Aroma is kind of a PITA... Lol
If you don't know C then you kinda just have to read it and figure it out yourself. Go look at my updater-script and aroma-config in my META-INF folder if you wanna see how it's done.
You have me on gtalk so I can answer any questions you have

AT&T owner here.
TWRP installed flawlessly. CleanROM 1.0 installed flawlessly and booted up just fine.
OP was not kidding, Factory Reset took about 5 minutes. Just be patient.
I'm happy to report TWRP did not nuke out my pictures on Factory Reset, like my Factory Reset via LG settings menu did the other night (sadpanda).
I really, really, really wish AT&T Ready2Go or whatever the hell that is was replaced with the Stock setup that triggers a proper App Backup/Restore process, but no big deal.
FYI, if you want street names back in Google Maps, change your Text-to-Speech to Pico TTS from LG TTS. Unfortunately, Pico TTS is not natural sounding, and there doesn't appear to be a way to sideload Google Text-to-Speech yet. I attempted ganking Maps/VoiceSearch from /system and installing them manually to get the Google Services directly, but it didn't help.
Thanks Scrosler! Runnin' just fine.
Looks like I lost the ability to change my lock screen wallpaper with Clean ROM, anyone else experiencing this?
I tried a clean re-install and got the same result, so I'm pretty sure maybe something might've been debloated that it hinged on...

There is actually a file that you can freeze that would cause this issue. I dont recall the specific name of it but its something like lockscreen settings. I had to edit the file to change out the wallpaper. But I cant recall the name.

I have this problem. I can switch to different stock wallpapers on my home screen, but I'm locked to a blue wallpaper for my lock screen. I'm kinda sad because I like using the stock papers for my lock screen.

I heard its running slow... Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt.
I have another server I can mirror on, AndroidFile Host, but its not as user friendly so I dont care to use it.
If they would give me shell acess to use wget I would do it. But alas...
Here we are with what we have...
No worries. Understood. I've downloaded enough files from goo to know it's "potential". It will eventually get the job done. Just happy for clean rom.

I would like to write a script to make a custom toggle in quick settings open up the power widget. Anyone willing to either help me learn about writing script or to tell me the script to enter to make this magick happen?
Thank you in advance...
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Hi,
It's not with a script that you can do that, but you have multiple solutions:
- Decompile/modifie/recompile the SystemUI.apk and Framework (at least), there is some guides but it's the harder thing (like this for example then edit the quick settings).
The easy way is to use:
- A custom rom that allows quick settings management (see dev section).
- Use an app like Power Toggles or Notification Toggle.
- Use Xposed framework with Xposed modules like Gravity Box.
It depends if you are rooted or not, if you want to flash a custom rom, etc...
I'm sorry, I probably should've mentioned this before hand. I'm currently running slimkat 2.3, which, I don't know if your familiar with. But it has "The Chamber of Secrets", which allows you to basically write a custom shortcut to edit any setting within the build prop. ( Now you should know I'm guessing at its full capabilities because I don't know how to use it and I'm asking for help)
I'm not new to flashing ROMs, kernels or apks, but I've never compiled my own ROM. And I don't really have the capability or need to do so. From what I understand, the chamber of secrets is pretty amazimg , I just want to know how to use it.

Hai. Author here.
I routinely search xda for the chamber to make sure nobody has done anything TOO stupid with it lol.
Anyway.
Power menu isn't in it's capabilities.
However...wrote up a powemenu shortcut for slim shortcuts.
Merged...so will be in the next build.

Thanks juba. I didn't want to clog up the thread with my ignorance. I would really like to learn though. I tried doing some research on my own last night on the Settings.java file. But not sure what in looking at.
If you could please point me in the right direction to start learning it would be much appreciated. I understand that I could really needs things up if I do the wrong thing. And don't want to do that. However, I'm a pretty competent person and want to learn.
Thank you for all the work you have done for our perfect ROM!

Well.
The settings.java file lists all possible system settings.
For example...
Say I wanted to make a shortcut to turn my status bar clock a different color.
I'd search the file for something that looks like a match...
Like Ctrl+f > "clock"
Next...next...next...etc.
Oh, look. "statusbar_clock_color"
That sounds right.
Add to chamber.
Checkbox? No...that isn't a checkbox setting.
Values?
Here's where it gets tricky.
Check boxes and colors...simple.
Colors: input like it tells you to in the dialog.
-2 means default for us...so you could do red,#ff00aacc,-2
For example...to switch between those three values.
List preferences...
https://github.com/SlimRoms/packages_apps_Settings/blob/kk4.4/res/values/slim_arrays.xml
As you can see...the top bunch is for what looks like led timeout settings...
So if I wanted to change those...
I'd find the setting in settings.java...
Input desired values. Such as 0,2500
Which matches to always on and long.
Thank you. I'm going to be delving into this this weekend.

I never even noticed these things. I did, however, look into it and found the following.
1. Quick settings only pulls down from lockscreen when you use the slider
2. I haven't ever really tried to have a seperate wallpaper for my lockscreen, but the only options I noticed available now is for transparency of the lockscreen.
I will look into applying the same settings (disabling quick settings) the other lockscreen options have for the slider option.
Thanks for your input.
Low call volume
Thanks for your hard work. I have been on this rom for a few months now and love it. It keeps getting better over time. I noticed however that the phones speaker isn't as loud as usual on this latest build. It's really odd. I use Viper4Android Fx instead of DSPManager. I wonder if it has something to do with that. Otherwise, the build is solid overall. Just a few reboots, but that's common on my phone so for with any rom.
EDIT: Actually found the cause. I never knew that there were different volumes for in call. I accidentally stumbled upon it while on a call. The volume was set low for some reason, I don't make a lot of calls normally so this was odd for the volume to change. Oh well, all is good now. Awesome rom! 10/10 in my opinion

Happy to hear that you were able to figure it out on your own.
scott.hart.bti is the main one putting in all of the hard work. I'm just building it for our device, and trying to merge a few changes of my own here and there, based on the feedback that I receive here; which, to be honest, hasn't been much. 200+ downloads from goo.im on the latest build and only two comments. I have to logically assume that lack of feedback means everything is operating as it should.

Oh yeah. I swap between CM11 and this, and Beanstalk is much better. Even using the Torched KK kernel, CM11 isn't performing well for me. Yeah Scott is doing a awesome job, but your help is appreciated as well. I know time is money/family/sleep among other other mundane obligations, so it's nice to have a dedicated maintainer despite having lives. Thanks a lot :good:
Quick question, does this have an option for the battery bar? I see it's a feature in the ROP OP, but can't seem to find it on my phone. I also can't seem to connect via ADB. I just rooted two other One Xs the other day, so I don't think it's my computer, but I'm gonna check later tonight with the other phones. Otherwise, great Rom, and keep up the good work!
There's no option for battery bar on this ROM. Do you have usb debugging enabled in Developer Options? You also need to grant root access to apps & adb.

Where do I do that? Nothing has come up that I'm aware of to grant root for that. I also just tested it with another phone, ADB is working for it. (JB ROM)
The option is right there in Developer Options, just above the usb debugging option.

does anyone know how to/ if its possible to enable bln?
Trickster Mod from the Play Store can be used to enable bln, but it has to be supported by your kernel.
I use the most recent version of Torched.

Would someone with an older version of BeanStalk please try the BeanStalk OTA app now? I think I may have corrected the issue with the app detecting the older versions of the ROM!
