I can only overwrite my Charm's ROM with Motorola's different versions. Haven't tried them all yet (only the T-Mobile version has booted).
I'm trying to get Freeyo to make us a custom ROM by donating a him a Charm:
http://www.cronosproject.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=664&p=23467
Here's the original Charm T-Mobile ROM and another ROM for Charm without Blur - but it didn't boot when I flashed it to my T-Mobile Charm using RSDLite 4.5.3 - I had to flash T-Mobile again.
Haven't found a way to (nan- or clockworkmod-) backup the entire ROM.
Charm ROMs:
http://and-developers.com/sbf:mb502
You open the recovery menu (only good for wiping and installing a signed update.zip - not backup) by holding power and X. When M logo appears release Power.
To flash an *.fsb ROM using USB cable and RSDLite you must hold down arrow up and power - then release power.

No. Installing a custom ROM not signed by Motorola required a custom recovery image.

In order to install a custom Recovery you need an unlocked bootloader. Unfortunately Bootloader on Charm is still locked.

You can't run nandroid on devices with locked bootloaders.

There are currently no custom ROMs for the Charm because its bootloader is still locked. The stock T-Mobile image is the official one that is signed and therefore can be flashed on the locked bootloader.
> In order to install a custom Recovery you need an unlocked bootloader.

Can't developers sign ROMs themselves? Cheat the bootloader by signing a custom ROM?
The recovery tool menu (hold X while booting and release it when M-logo appears) can apply update.zip and I guess those must be signed as well but perhaps the developers can do that.
> There are currently no custom ROMs for the Charm
But apart from the official T-Mobile ROM there is an official DEBLUR ROM (which didn't boot for me, though) - and there Motorolas open source repository if developers want to build a ROM themselves, I guess. I haven't found the Telus ROM but I suspect it's also on Motorolals non-listed download server but its direct link is unknown.
Thanks about power on + up arrow press to bootloader... I'm trying to flash that Android without blur on my MB502... Let's see if it will work
Crossing fingers!

On an unlocked bootloader the signature of the ROM you are flashing must match Motorola's (which are a secret, obviously). The whole point of unlocking the bootloader is to be able to flash ROMs with different signatures.
Just a heads up to Charm owners.
NEVER EVER EVER flash the T-Mobile Charm ROM if you're not on T-Mobile.
Your phone will be stuck on that ROM because flashing it messes with your bootloader, and the bootloader won't be able to accept any other ROM.
If you want to de-blur use this:

I have a T-Mobile branded Charm that is unlocked and I use it on AT&T's network. It's stuck on EDGE because of the different frequencies, but I don't mind.
What's this image? Judging by the file name, it looks like it's for "Basil" which appears to be Motorla's internal code name for Charm. Would it work on an unlocked T-Mobile Charm running on AT&T?
Can i build an custom recovery image and flash it using the update.zip method.
Steps in building custom rom
koushikdutta.com/2010/10/porting-clockwork-recovery-to-new.html
Here my build fails in the step where i link with the boot.img
In my charm I have taken the boot.img using cat /proc/mtd.
When building it says invalid header
Any suggestions.
Before that is this method possible ?

No, because you would have to sign that recovery image with keys that only Motorola engineers know.
Hi,
Please android geeks, any suggestions to unlock the bootloader on charm.
Note: popular devices are the benefitted ones. Unique models and low end phone are not cared by geeks, I guess.
In the thread 'Motorola Charm!' the user polovinamozga has finally cracked the bootloader! Even tried cyanogen 6 on the Charm

That's not entirely correct. He didn't crack the bootloader, he bypassed it.
This is awesome news. We should now be able to flash custom ROMs, just not custom kernels. But even without kernel enhancements there's a lot that can be done to make Charm better.

It's the deblur rom from http://and-developers.com/sbf:mb502
I don't think it works on T-Mo charms because the T-Mobile charm seems to have a newer bootloader which won't accept older ROMs like the Deblur one.
Charm ROM
Hi Guys,
not sure if this is helpful, got this link from a chinese website. my Asia Charm is running BASEM_U3_01.12.0_DEBLUR.

It should work just fine for both GSM and CDMA versions.
Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544940 a one click root tool developed by me that will unlock bootloader, flash the latest touch CWM and superuser, you should not worry if you have an unlocked bootloader cause it will still work.
1 is there a version of CyanogenMod for the S6
2 if so does screen mirroring work with CyanogenMod on it. (i have a note 8 and it has CM12.1 and screenmirroring dont work to chromecast.)

For lock bootloader you have flashify if you want to install samthing or flash a rom.
Ya but the bootloader needs to be unlocked to root the phone how do you unlock the bootloader
Many variants you don't. Many have locked bootloaders with no unlocks available.
Hello all,
I am receiving tomorrow my new Samsung S6 and i want to know some things.
- Unlocking bootloader (how to and link?) - have searched a bit and you need ODIN. but what is the best version etc
- Installing TWRP3.0 (how-to) - where to find the latest TWRP for samsung s6
And than one of the most important question, is there a stock android that doesent have any buys and fc's????
Bootloader is not locked on S6 (except AT&T variant)
You can get latest ODIN from here;
http://dl.sammobile.com/Odin3_v3.10.7.zip
If you want to install TWRP on it;
1- Update it to Marsmallow if you haven't
2- Install this TWRP via ODIN;
http://arter97.com/browse/S6/kernel/13.1/g920fi/arter97-recovery-g920fi-13.1-twrp_3.0.2-0.tar.md5
3- Boot up to TWRP and flash this ZIP before do anything on TWRP;
https://download.chainfire.eu/932/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.71-20160331103524.zip

Wouldn't this order make more sense so he had a backup in case something goes wrong?
Also, here are the threads for TWRP and SuperSU for the S6 on XDA:

No, and there probably won't be any for a long time, but there are lots of TouchWiz-based custom ROMs.
so basicly i dont need any customezation? because you telling me there will not be released a custom stock rom? Even a CM13 rom
thats poor services!

Correct. The only custom ROMs availability now and the foreseeable future are based on TouchWiz, not AOSP Android or CyanogenMod.

He need dm-verity disabled boot image for working TWRP backups. That's why I suggest him to install this ZIP.
While reading topics on the internet (google)
If you THE smartphone update to 6.0 you do not need to unlock the bootloader. is this correct?
For now i will not use TWRP because there isent a proper ROM for the S6. is this because the exynoss CPU? because QSD cpu's have always the better support for CM..

As I said before, there's no bootloader unlock because bootloader is factory-unlocked on Samsung devices.
If you want root, you should to use TWRP for install the latest SuperSU.
Yes, there's no CM ROM for Exynos 7420 right now. Maybe in future? Who knows...
is there a twrp that works because the original twrp that i download form twrp.me isent working getting a weird issue: recovery is not seandroid enforcing

i tried to install it, used the AP method in Odin.
But when i want to go in TWRP recovery i get the stock recovery! How to solve this issue
I'm having this issue as well on the T-Mobile variant. I have tried the unchecking auto reboot option in Odin and manually going to recovery. When I successfully flash according to Odin, I can't not get past the Recovery is not Seandroid enforcing boot.

Motorola Smart assistant will fix it, and you'll need it to get the file for magisk to modify
