I rooted my Nexus 5 about two weeks ago and I'm new to rooting so I don't know much. Anyway after my phone was rooted my apps started crashing. It happens most to twitter, and i feel like the longer I'm on an app the more likely it will cash. This also happens to Reddit and several other apps. When this happens first the app freezes for about 5 seconds and then it proceeds to crash, where it then restarts my phone. And it happens about every day... maybe once or twice a day. I used cyanogenmod and I reinstalled the rom but it still freezes, then crashes.
[Edit]- changed logcat to show E/

How did you root it? What method? Rooting alone should not cause those problems
If you used the dalvik/bionic enhanced patch, make sure to use the separate patches as the dalvik one has a extra file that is needed for cm based roms... wipe the dalvik cache too
Yesterday I installed DU Cleaner I clicked the button it did the usual clear cache stopped running apps etc, but I noticed at the end it stopped some startup services and apps.
I have just rebooted my phone, it took about 10 mins to boot up not he usual 1 or 2 , then I was getting a lot of app errors unfortunately*** has stopped working etc, and now it is supper sluggish even wringing this post out, every few words it freezes and takes time to catch up.
There is nothing on the app to adjust startup items, I me ruined on a magisk thread that I have a problem with startup managers they just don't seem to work for me so I have no idea how to resolve my problem.
Edit: I tried whiping cache and delvik but one weird thing when I usually do that it has to optimise over 300 apps as usually it's slow but normal but now it only does about 150 and it's done withing a few seconds. One of the apps that's constantly crashing is WiFi direct share, the error message keeps popping up
Hi. My device worked just perfect until 5 days ago. It slowly began to ignore some tasks like opening apps or doing calls.
2 days ago my google pixel with Android 8.0 started to ignore every input i made, like opening apps or trying to reboot. It behaving like this after taking some pictures with the rear cam. After some attepts in opening apps it started to reboot. But instead of a normal reboot it stuck in a booting screen (the one with the Google G and a gray animation bar underneath). It took a while and i waited until it seemed that the OS booted correctly. But after this my device started to reboot randomly after a few minutes. After a while i figured out, that i can hold the power button while the screen with the google G was up to reboot it normally. This worked so that the phone was at least half an hour or more working until it rebooted again out of nowhere.
So far i tried to get it in safe mode and delete some apps like whatts app etc. In safe mode i didnt notice any crashes so far.... but in normal one it does a lot so deleting apps wasnt helpful. Turning on flight mode was not helpful either.
What can I do? What could it be?

Same thing happens with my Pixel, sometimes the phone is just get stuck on some random screen then I have to press and hold it for 15 seconds to let it reboot again. Lately I have started to see another problem, when it reboots bunch of google apps and services stops working and gives hell lot of notifications. All this started to happen after Android Oreo update

I noticed problems with my ear speaker as well. And i cant make phone calls. The phone doent respond anymore when i try to.
Same problem after android 8.0 update
If you have installed the latest Google phone/dialer app, that is likely the problem, was for me.
Find the app in settings and uninstall,it will roll back to a previous version and hopefully fix your issues.

My pixel does the same thing, ever since I updated to 8.0, have you tried doing a factory reset? I haven't done it yet, I have been uninstalling apps for the last couple of days, when it is in safe mode it works good, but when it's not, it freezes and restarts. I'm going to try uninstalling the latest version on google dialer to see if it helps.
I just want to update everyone in case you are having a problem with the random reboots.
I uninstalled the phone update and it was still randomly rebooting so I backed up the stuff that I needed and just did a factory reset. I have been a full day on my phone without any problems. I did a factory reset twice, just in case, for some crazy reason, the phone still had a problem, I wiped it twice! I think you'll be good with only wiping once.
Anyways to sum it all up, I did a factory reset, restored all of my backed up data from my pixel, I had about 120 apps and the phone has not had a problem since. I hope it helps someone else.

Mate, please report if you're still getting the reboots. Mine disappear for two weeks after I do a factory reset and then come back. Same happens in Safe Mode. Bug report claims it's 'Sense Key : Hardware Error [current]' and Google rep says it's a hardware issue (Toshiba's memory or something). Buganiser thread is here.
wrong place sry
Had this on my pixel xl. I was on the 8.1 beta.
factory reset, rolled back to 8.0
8.1 ota official
haven't had a reboot in over a week now

Yea, the issue is back, has been for about 2 weeks. This phone is really starting to be a pain in the ass, I can't believe that it happens so often. Did you do a warranty fix?
That's a pity. Yes, I did. Got the device roughly two and a half weeks ago. Flashed 8.0 and then sideloaded 8.1 right away. Knock on wood, all good. But there's still a report every other day in Buganiser of a phone even on 8.1 doing this.
Got mine at release. November 16. Google won't replace it either. I have a one pixel brick
I have the same problem. However, it is not frequent enough on Android P beta. But as soon as I go back to the stable build, it starts to do the same thing. Did you guys have any luck resolving this or should I send it back to the vendor I bought it from. They won't replace the device in Pakistan but may be will fix it in some manner.
Hi!
Stock Rom, no root. Build: A6003_22_190911
I'm not sure what the root cause is. For seemingly no reason, my device started rebooting randomly (once every few hours, sometimes minutes in between) when starting apps or interacting with them. To remedy the problem I wiped the cache partition, but the reboots are still as frequent and in addition, apps randomly close/crash.
The reboots seem to be soft reboots or sth, since I don't have to enter the SIM PIN again after they happen.
I'm not quite sure, but maybe it was the most recent update? I did it a few days ago. I waited quite some time before updating.
Can you help me find a solution to this issue?
Cheers,
reijin
Are you root? What rom you using? Are yoy using edxposed?
It's the stock Rom without any modifications. I'm not root.
I've been having the same issue as you since a couple days ago when I got the phone. I don't think it's the update itself, because I was having issues even setting up the phone before I even got to update it
Interesting. I think I will try to acquire a debug log, but as of now the crashes have become less and also less reproducible. It's kind of a mistery to me what's going on.
Well, it's been ok for a while, but I just had 3 reboots in 7 minutes. No idea how I can acquire a log if it's so inconsistent. Is there a last error log or sth that I can try to access?
Do you have the google assistant power button shortcut enabled?
I was experiencing this exact behavior until I disabled that option, and now I get multiple days without a crash/reboot.
The phone has become basically unusable. It will crash, I restart, then it will crash again at random times--sometimes immediately, sometimes after 60 seconds, and (if I'm lucky) it'll last about 5 minutes or so.
I've had this problem intermittently for a few months (like, it'll crash constantly for a day, then be fine for weeks, then crash like this again). Yesterday I had to bring out my old ipad to use instead because the Zenfone was unusable. And it appears to still be crashing today.
Any ideas what's going on? Anything I can do besides a factory reset, which I'd really want to avoid if possible.
Did you do any heavy modifications like root, magisk, xposed? With crashing you mean that apps or system components crash with the typcial error message or do you mean that the phone shuts down and restarts.
You could try flashing the latest update if you didn't already do so recently or try booting to safe mode and if it's still behaving the same it's likely a hardware issue.

No major mods--I did install a SystemUI modifying app but the crashing problem started before that (and I've only used that to remove some menu bar icons).
The phone shuts down and restarts--sometimes it just shuts down. I've already flashed latest update. I'll try safe mode--thanks.
