i've recently got my hands on a VOX/s710 phone
my last phone before this used micro SD cards, it was a nokia
when i try to put my nokia micro SD into my VOX, it doesnt recognize, but, as soon as i put it on a nokia, other phones like a palm, etc, it recognizes
is there a problem between nokia branded micro SD cards with HTC?
i tried another brand of micro SD and it worked perfectly
any ideas?
cheers
Initially I tried a NOKIA micro SD card with my Vox and it worked fine.
hum, tks for the reply
so no clues at what the problem might be?
guess if i dont resolve this, ill have to buy another micro SD card
May be, you give a try by formatting the card using a card reader from a Windows PC. That might help.
Yes, make a backup and format to FAT32 (also useful if you want to flash from sd card)! Then put your files back on the card and try again!
thanks for the tips
fortunately, i dont have any indispensable information on the microSD card, i didnt use it a lot, since it was a 1G card, and i had a 2G on my older nokia.
i'm going to try and format it and then post the result hopefully it will work
but since i dont have a memory card reader right now, im gonna try and put it on my old nokia, connect it to the pc and try to format it from there, or format it from inside the nokia phone.
ill figure out something
thanks again for the tips
cheers

tks for the tip tryed it right now, and now its working fine
many thanks both of you for the help!
I have 2 GB microsd card installed. Is it possible to install a 4Gb card or more? Who tried? Does it support SDHC?
Funny thing, I've got an answer from htc support, they say 2Gb is the only possible amount supported

I dont know exactly how to do it search the forum, but i know that there is a thread that says that partion 4gb (using WM5torage that thread tells how to) and then you can use it.
the vox supports SDHC microSD up to 8Gb, found this in www.pocketpc.ch (will post the link l8 when back on my pc).
i'm using a sandisk SDHC 4Gb fat32 formatted, works perfect! i will buy a 8Gb soon and post the results here .

remembered to post this note, after fomarting the sd card, it worked well
just another question though, you guys are talking about 4 and 8 gigs sd cards
doesnt having a much bigger sd card slow down the phone? i've heard of such rumours but never got the chance to tested myself, and since i'm willing to make a sd upgrade i would like to know if its better to stick with a 1 gig or 2 gigs sd card, or i can go ahead and get a 4 or 8 gigs?
cheers
so, finally i bought this fine 8Gb microSDHC from sandisk, and i works just perfect.

i never tried with a 1 or 2Gb card, so there i cannot say. but on the otherhand i did not remark an diffrence of speed with the 4 or 8Gb card, they're just as fast as usual (in cellular device or in pc with cardreader). the only thing i can say, is that cards from cheap(er) brands are always slower than cards from quality brands (such as sandisk, as example). and also SDHC cards should always be faster than 1 or 2Gb cards, because they have a newer controllers (not 100% sure about this point, i think i might have read that in c't).
i hope i could help a little bit...
Dang, 8GB cards work without driver patching? That is champion. I'll be ordering myself one soon.
Yep, can confirm 8gb card works fine, have had one in mine for some months now...
Now what about 16gb? was that article written before 16's were available even the sandisk site seems to be out of date saying nokias that are supposed to support 16's only support 8?
anyone actually confirmed 16's don't work?

32GB somewhere in the first half of next year.
Pricing unknown, but I guess that 16GB will have an intro price of something like € 100,00.

i guess we have to wait some time to test it
at work, some weeks ago, i discussed this with a dev. and he meant that from the hardware side it should be no problem, but maybe the driver needs to be updated. i'm not sure, but as i know the driver adds support for sdhc, no matter of the size of the card. he's not a sys dev, he does apps and branding, i'm only test-ex and advanved user, so correct me if i'm wrong (i'm still learning ).
edit: found following on http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-sdhc-cards.htm
The new 2.00 specification should last a bit longer, as it allows SDHC cards to reach a maximum capacity of 32GB.

so i think, if the device supports that specification (and the vox does), it should support cards up to 32Gb.
and again some info about speed:
The SDHC specification 2.00 calls for cards to be classified according to the minimal sustained DTS as follows:
Class 2: minimum sustained DTS of 2MB/sec
Class 4: minimum sustained DTS of 4MB/sec
Class 6: minimum sustained DTS of 6MB/sec
SDHC cards are classified to guarantee a specific sustained DTS. This potentially saves consumers money, as flash cards are priced not only according to capacity, but also to speed. For example, if a product's maximum DTS is 2MB/sec, dishing out extra cash for Class 4 or Class 6 SDHC cards would be a waste of money. Conversely, devices that can utilize the 4MB/sec or 6MB/sec DTR (i guess the author meant DTS, kel187) will perform significantly better with Class 4 or Class 6 SDHC cards, respectively.

my 4Gb card is Class 2 and my 8Gb is Class 4. i did not recognized any diffrences in speed advantages, neither on the mobile nor on the pc. so the vox and my cardreader must be class 2 devices, what a pitty ^^
Hello everyone.
I have this strange things going on with my microSD card.
Recentely i bought 32 GB card for my nexus one (using cyanogen mod 7)
When i use that card on my pc i can write all the files at 5 MB/s speed. Then i put it inside my phone and it doesn't mount. After few tries like 4 or 5 it mounts but after that some files are gone from sd card. Allways leaving like 30 GB of empty space. So if i write more it will delete some so it would be 30 GB. Then it mounts normally.
Ok now more then half of you will say that this is fake card or smth. But i downloaded H2testw program and checked my card. Everything is fine with it. The program wrote 32 GB of data and verified everything. Its just problems with phone reading SD card. Anyone can help me ?
Hmm........
So noone has any ideas ?
Check your phone for firmware updates that might raise it to the 32 gb ceiling. Maybe there is a Cyanogen 7 update that will take care of this for you. Also does your phone support SDHC cards?
SD Card Not reading correctly
If you haven't done so, you might want to check the specs of your device to ensure that it will accept 32GB. Some devices top out at 8 and 16GB respectively.

That, and I would upgrade to the latest nightly of CM7.
It is probably not "32gb" "Genuine" memory card.
I've purchased the memory card couple months back and
It says "16gb" when I put musics/videos in the memory card, it was unreadable and unplayable. I think it had actual memory of "2gb", so yes, I've been scammed by Chinese people =P.
I recommend you to check your actual memory by using this program
"H2testw"

Like what problem?
Yes. What kind of problems. I have 2GB free and use to have less.
maybe he mean does we hava anything wrong with that case.
my problems are:
i have the original microsd 8gb class 2 when i put some videos, music or pictures and the capacity it's over 5gb, when i restart the phone the "preparing microsd" notification doesnt dissapear and i never take the phone control back except when i release the battery and put it back and change the microsd.
I've bought microsd 8gb class 4 and the same happens.
it's there any solution?
i'm using 4gb class 6 and no problems but i need more space.
Your problem is the SDCArd in general, I was nearly trowing away my XT720, bought an new SD card from ADATA and same problem. My last hope was an new Quality SDcard now with a "Samsung Micro-SDHC 16GB Class 10 - Plus-Serie MB-MPAGA" I have a new phone , no errors, no restarts, didient have to "battary reset" since i have that card.
The investment in a good SDCARD is (IMHO) the best you can do to your phone.
First thread, so putting that out in advance.
I download ALOT of music, and since I wanted to sync lots of music from spotify to my phone and bring a few movies for traveling, I bought a Samsung SDXC 64GB class 10 microSD card from amazon on bf.
I've formatted it to fat32 (with guiFormat on windows and android itself), and my atrix will reconize it. But once I start syncing music to it it unmounts it after a variable amount of time.
Has anyone else been able to get a 64GB microsd to work with their atrix?
Thanks!
i dont think it would , since specs says the phone can handle up to 32 gb micro sd card , and never readed someone report about a working 64 gb micro sd card
sent from the gray stuff inside my skull
On the bionic, they say it works.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458992&highlight=64gb
Aren't the bionic and atrix 2 the same?
Also, I'm running magic mod jb. I read somewhere that 4.0+ has issues with sdxc, could that be an issue?
Try formatting with a different allocation size to see if it works.
Atrix2 doesn't support NTFS or ex-fat, which some other phones do.

Yeah class 10 cards are known to have issues with this phone. It really has nothing to do with it being 64GB or not, that is causing it to dissapear or unmount, but the fact that it is a class 10 card. We have had way too many issues with anything higher than a class 6 card in the atrix2. It is also noted that the atrix2 really technically does not support SDcards higher than 32GB, but I have a 64GB card that I use in several of my phones that seems to work ok from time to time, but I only use it to move a file from one of my other phones to the A2 once in a while, so long term I really don't have a lot of info on that.
Ok, that makes sense. Too bad they don't sell class 6 anymore. So I should try to find a class 6 32gb card then instead of 10?

anything that is class 4 or class 6 is know to work with out issues, no matter the size.
I have 2 class 4 32GB cards that I bought just for this phone that were like 30 USD 6 or 10 months ago, so I am sure you can find a few really cheap now. I know that the whole class 4 or class 6 and the speed thing really tend to turn people off, but I can copy 20GB of music to one card in just over 1 - 1.5 hours, so it is not too bad.

Thanks a lot Jim! Yeah the 32gb is like $20 on Amazon, so I'll spring for a couple of those. Your right, I guess you really don't need that speed anyway (I can wait to transfer my music).

They do. I just bought a 32gb class six sandik on amazon
By the way my 32 class six is noticeably faster than my 16gb class 4...
I picked up the Moto G 4g LTE version recently hopping on the fact that they added an sd card slot. Anyway, I purchased this http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-MicroSDHC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B007XZM6VG/
microsd card hoping for some nice expansion. But for some reason whenever I insert it it says damaged sd card, tries to format it, then says blank sd card, and basically loops this process. Now here's the weird thing, this sd card works fine (can read and write) in other people's phones, but just doesnt seem to work in mine!
I even tried my friends 32 gb microsd card and it worked (it was a slower class 6 varient),I tried *my* sd card in that persons phone, and it mounted and worked fine, the sd card works in my PC also.
I'm wondering if I need a slower speed card? Maybe class 6 or 4. Because I read up on another guys problem on here, his is freezing but he got a slower 32 gig card and now it works without a problem. I know he was having a different problem but I'm wondering if the phone is having an issue with class 10 cards.
Anyone having the same problem or have any idea what might be going on?

Hi,
As I mentioned on the "other guy"'s topic, I experienced this kind of issues with my previous phone, which were entirely solved by replacing my 32 GB Sandisk class 10 card with a 16 GB Samsung class 6 card. AFAIK, fast cards may cause malfunctions with some Android phones, because of the access response times.

Had the same issue. resolved by getting a different brand and lower class. all issues resolved.
I'm using this card bought thru Amazon for 17.99 ------Samsung Electronics 32GB EVO Micro SDHC with Adapter Upto 48MB/s Class 10 Memory Card (MB-MP32DA/AM)------
I have had 0 problems with it and high benchmarks, I use to use Sandisk but after multiple problems with multiple cards over they years I have completely abandoned them for Samsung and have yet to have a problem.
The problem comes from that, some cards won't fall back to lower performance level and thus causing issues for the device that it is inserted in.
Some devices does not have problem with that tough.
Another reason could be the file system used, but that's less likely, although not very rare.
And one more thing is that brands like SanDisk, Samsung, Kingston etc are the actual developers of the SD technologies and sometimes you may get a product that is using newer technologies, which often causes troubles.
I purchased same Sandisk micro card from Amazon as OP did. I got same results. It is sitting here on my bed with RMA on it to back to Sandisk. Just got a new speck sheet which was posted from the motorola forms that says the following:
Micro SD UHS-1 "The card will work, BUT the Moto G 4F/Lte WILL NOT SUPPORT UHS 1 - SPEEDS.
So it appears, a slower speed card is in order. I just had to purchase a Samsung 16 gb class 6 card. Would rather have had a 32 gb but could not find in class 6.
Random and Sequential of my 32gb Samsung Evo UHS-1 in my Moto G LTE using A1 SD Bench
Thanks so much for the input and advice guys! I was too impatient to order another sd card and wait for it to ship so I went and bought a random 32 gig class 10 card from a brand i've never heard of called "Monster digital" and it works perfectly. So I'm not sure what really fixes it, if it's a brand thing or size or speed or what. But my change from my non working sd card was Speed: UHS-1 -> Class 10, and Brand: Sandisk -> Monster Digital
Regarding the SD card issue. I tried with three separate phones with a 32gb class 10 and and a 16gb class 4 -- failed on two of them, but works fine on one of the phones. So there is definitely a build quality issue ( and/or difference ) between the phones, aside from the mentioned 'supported sd card class.' Both of these cards work fine on all other devices ( pc/laptop/tablets including old SD card readers with adapters )

Wanted to give an update. Tested with four devices now ( 2 black, 2 white ) and First one ( white ) worked, next two did not work, but the fourth device ( black ) it worked to detect 32gb sandisk without fail. So there is _definitely_ a difference between them from device to device -- maybe even assembly line quality control issues depending on week of manufacture, who knows.
Very interesting (and puzzling). Do they all run exactly the same version of Android? Are they all exactly the same model (eg. XT1032) and the same internal storage capacity (8/16 GB)?
---------- Post added at 10:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:19 PM ----------
Oops, Moto G LTE is 8 GB only, sorry.
Yes.. exact same model/capacity and OS, all ordered within the same 1 week period ( two being RMA )
Can verify that the XT1045 4G LTE performs very well with a 64GB SDCard inserted internally, ALSO..with a 32GB MicroSD card inserted into the USB / Charge port..and runs both very well, and with both cards mounted..

I have a Moto G LTE on order, and am wondering if the various problems people are seeing are due to the file system used on the card: exFAT or FAT32. I would assume the newer SanDisk cards are formatted with exFAT. Does the flavor of Android on the phone support exFAT ?
Another issue I've found in the past with some other devices and ROM's is that if the card is formatted as exFAT, it might need be set up as a primary partition and not a logical drive (using MiniTool or some such).
But we'll see what happens when the phone & card actually arrive
As far as I'm concerned, my cards were all FAT32-formatted, both the malfunctioning SanDisk and the Samsung that worked well. Nothing to do with exFAT vs. FAT32 then.

Exact same 2 cards ( check my previous post ) , tested on 4 (four) MOTO G LTE , 2 Samsung and a Camera and a Tablet worked only on 2 of the MOTO G LTE's + all the other non motorola devices. It cannot be the formatting or even the make of the card if it's a compatiblity issue.

I am getting 'Removed SD card' / 'SD card removed, Insert a new one' error by using exact same Samsung 32GB EVO Micro SDHC. I could not format it by using Moto, so I did a full format in my PC, Same result. The microSD symbol is UHS-1 (one capital U with '1' inside') - matched Amazon's picture.
Try a slower card (class 6 fort instance).

Just got my moto G 4g delivered today and My 32gb Sandisk Ultra (which I had for 2 years in 6 different phones) won't work. looked it up, saw this thread and I'm kinda sad that I have to buy a new sd card for this when I paid a premium to have the ability to use a sd card in the first place. Nonetheless, I'll take the safer route you guys talked about and try for a lower class speed. Just ordered a samsung 32gb (not the evo model) class 6 from amazon for about 19.25 after tax. it should be here on the 25th I'll let you guys know if it's a good one to use. I knew kit kat didn't play nice with sd cards but this is ridiculous.
