Hello everyone.
I have this strange things going on with my microSD card.
Recentely i bought 32 GB card for my nexus one (using cyanogen mod 7)
When i use that card on my pc i can write all the files at 5 MB/s speed. Then i put it inside my phone and it doesn't mount. After few tries like 4 or 5 it mounts but after that some files are gone from sd card. Allways leaving like 30 GB of empty space. So if i write more it will delete some so it would be 30 GB. Then it mounts normally.
Ok now more then half of you will say that this is fake card or smth. But i downloaded H2testw program and checked my card. Everything is fine with it. The program wrote 32 GB of data and verified everything. Its just problems with phone reading SD card. Anyone can help me ?
Hmm........
So noone has any ideas ?
Check your phone for firmware updates that might raise it to the 32 gb ceiling. Maybe there is a Cyanogen 7 update that will take care of this for you. Also does your phone support SDHC cards?
SD Card Not reading correctly
If you haven't done so, you might want to check the specs of your device to ensure that it will accept 32GB. Some devices top out at 8 and 16GB respectively.

That, and I would upgrade to the latest nightly of CM7.
It is probably not "32gb" "Genuine" memory card.
I've purchased the memory card couple months back and
It says "16gb" when I put musics/videos in the memory card, it was unreadable and unplayable. I think it had actual memory of "2gb", so yes, I've been scammed by Chinese people =P.
I recommend you to check your actual memory by using this program
"H2testw"

Hello all, I recently upgraded to the ATT Fuze and then installed an AData 8 Gb MicroSD card. The issue is sometimes the phone will not detect the files in the card. So if I restart my phone everything works fine and the phone sees all files in the SD card with 80 mb used. If I restart again the phone takes a long time to view memory of the storage card and then shows nearly the entire 8 gb used. File explorer show the folders but none of the files in the SD card.
If I remove the MIcro sd card and plug it directly into my laptop then it shows the actual space use and al the files correctly.
Anyone see this issue or how to resolve it. I have already replaced the phone once. SD card works perfectly when used in a laptop.
IS THIS A PROLEMWITH THE PHONE OR THE SD card.
Please help
Why don't you try re-formatting the memory card?
If you've replaced the phone and you're still having the problem, I'd say it's the card.
I use a SanDisk 16GB MicroSD in my Fuze and have never had any problems with it.
I have reformatted the card multiple times using both vista and Xp and still the same results. The card works just fine on my laptop. When I put the card in my phone it does not detect the card till I soft reset the phone. After it comes up, the phone will see the card but show space used as the entire 8 gb even if the card is empty.
I have ordered a new Kingston 8 gb card. Hopefully that will work
Sometimes there are compatibility issues with certain cards. I use a Sandisk 8gb card and it works well. TP reads and writes quickly to it. Try this other card you ordered then adise results here. Good luck.
HTC recommends Sandisk.
I use sandisk 8 Gb Micro SHDC Mobile Ultra with the Tyynt sdtune up cab!
Suggestion
Format the card sell it and buy a real sandisk ;-)
Yea! will try the Kingston. What is the sdtune up cab file. I could not find such a file.
I too
Hi, i have the same issue with same A-DATA SDHC 8GB Class 6. On PC everything is ok, but when i put it in TP (no branded) PDA didn't recognize it. I reformat it 10+ times, same. I make some experiments and realize that when on the card i have to 2GB files work fine, but when i exceed that limit the card stops to mount in file system of TP. I fill the card to max with some stuffs and place an image file, then try to flash the phone with it, the strane is that the phone is flashing ok, but after flash and hard reset the card didn't mount at all. If i change the image file i can flash again, but in file system i haven't card. Very strange. I use few roms ot NRZ28. Do you think that the problem is in any dll in rom or the problem is in card. Becouse bootloader see and use card, but the system didn't.
p.s. Sorry for bad english.
My Kingston SD card works. The only difference I can see between the two is that the AData is a class 6 while the Kingston is a class 4.
maybe the Fuze has an issue with class 6 cards?
I am using the ADATA 8G MicroSDHC memory card without any problem for my HTC Fuze. This is a Class 6 card from Newegg.
Yea, I had bought the exact same one! Dunno why it didnt work for me!
i am using an 8GB Adata microSDHC card from Newegg.com and my HTC Fuze will NOT see it. I have tried everything I know (very computer knowledgeable). Checked the reg settings, etc. but it will not ever see the card even after reformats and reboots. The card works fine in laptop and other devices, but not my HTC Fuze... ???????
I had big probs with my 8 gb sandisk: Files and folders were lost after a time... i formatted with a lot of utilities, nothing helped now i use kingston without any probs on my TP ...

same except a transcend. works great with my transcend adapter + Reader

I purchased DSE 8Gb card, like you could see it, reformat it & everything worked a treat on the PC, but when putting into the TP it was a very different story!
Sometimes it would see it, sometimes not, very hit & miss affair without any reliably repeatable circumstances, so took it back, tried another one - same issue, then sucked it up and went to purchase a Kingston one (5 bucks cheaper)... it worked first time and haven't had (touch wood) a problem yet!

Mariobg, I am in the same situation you are. I am using NRG Energy Rom 2.0 4/14/09. I am having the same problems with my A-DATA micro SDHC 8GB Class 6. I also own a SanDisk 512 MB micro SD card that works no problem. I will try flashing to a different ROM to see if that fixes it. Did you ever solve the problem.
Adata issues on rapahel
Hi there , i have the same problem with this &*^&*%$ Adata card on my raphael.
Rom : Elite rc3
Tried Hard Reset
Tried Soft Reset
formatted it untill it was smoking.
Learned one thing with this....first read...then buy.
Well I tried several different ROMs and still no success. i ended up trying the memory card in my friends HTC Fuze, and it did not work either. He had a 4 GB micro SDHC A-data card that works great. So I tried his card in my phone, and it also worked great. So, it appears that the 8 GB A-data card is defective. I am going to RMA it tomorrow.

But, unfortunately, it did not solve my problem.
I have a Class 4 Kingston 8GB MicroSD that was in NTFS format. My HTC Fuze couldn't see it until I format it in FAT32. Works now .
I've read 2 different things about how much memory the Captivate will see. Does anyone know for sure if it's 48 or 32 gigs?
I put my 32Gb Sandisk in my Captivate today...and it mounted ok, all 21Gb of installed music and movies on that card seemed to work fine, based on my random sampling.
Keep in mind that it makes a "fake" /sd directory in the root of the internal /sdcard, and that points to the external storage when using an Android file explorer like Astro. And also keep in mind that there's a lot of apps that just don't know about this directory, so they can't "see" the external storage.
Windows sees two distinct storage devices, however, as it should be.
It has build in internal 16GB (2GB of that is reserved for apps) rest 14GB is data for whatever, Plus whatever Micro SDHC card you will add.
16+16 SD = 32GB
16+32 SD = 48GB
I have put 16GB micro SDHC to it (32GB cards are to expensive) connected to windows i get two drive letters one for Internal 14GB Data partition and one for my own 16GB card.
Hope that helped you.

Yep the ATT site spec sheet says 32gb is supported by the phone. And from all appearances it does indeed seem to work with the phone just fine.
Now the real question. Who is going to tear apart the phone and replace the internal SD card (since I assume it's literally an internal microSD card as seen in other devices) with a 32 GB card and see if it can handle 32+32 GB.

you seem like a willing volunteer
hmm if only i had two 32gb sd cards i would but they expensive
The real reason for replacing the internal SD card would be because it's so damn slow.
I agree with the slow part hence the mods to change the cache onto the external which speed up the phones.... any word on if the internal SD card is replaceable or not? If it is, that would be great news as its definately not as fast as a class 6 card and replacing it with one would definately speed things up.

Haha, exactly that. If I had the money for two 32 GB cards I'd try.
Edit Hmm... I saw a tear down of the Galaxy S and I didn't see an internal microSD card, so maybe it doesn't use a card like the Streak. Might be built in and unable to swap. Oh well!
Hi all,
My apologies if this has already been covered but i have a question regarding the removeable but not removeable storage within a HTC Mozart 7.
Ive pulled the phone apart previously a long time ago and had a 16 kingston class 2 Micro SD installed and it caused alot of freezes and crashes and as such i removed it and placed the existing sandisk 8gig class 4 Micro SD card back into my phone, Ive been using this fine for quite a while and the time has come where i either have to remove all my pictures and movies (Back them up of course) in order to keep using the phone as i have run out of space. This isnt something i want to do as i like to have the pictures and movies on the go with me like they should be so i can access them whenever i want. Ive started using skydrive to store my pictures to make room on my phone so i can use it. Anyhow as im getting off topic i`ll get to the point. I purchased a Genuine Sandisk 32gig Class 4 microsd card before the release on mango in the hopes it would work and it subsequently didnt. I therefore email HTC support asking them for a list of what cards are supported and strangly enough they did respond. With this
Here are the brand names of SD card and its storage that are compatible with HTC handsets. We have tested these and we can guarantee its functionality. You may use one of these to your phone. Please see the list below:
BRAND SIZE
ADATA 4GB, 8GB, 16GB
Kingston 4GB, 16GB
PQI 16GB
Pretec 4GB, 8GB
SanDisk 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB
SILICON POWER 4GB, 8GB, 16GB
Transcend 4GB, 8GB, 16GB
As there is no mention of the 32gig card being supported i took it out. im now trying to install a 16gig kingstone class 4 card and when i boot the phone i get the error "Memory card not working". so i thought i`d try the old 16 gig class 4 card and got the same message. Its worked before but i have a feeling that it may not be working now as it was used with the old OS and not with 7.10 so my phone no longer detects it. Anyway does anyone have any ideas on how i can get the 16 gig or 32gig class 4 cards to work with my phone? Do i maybe need to jailbreak it to make it support higher cards?
Any answers would be helpful
Solved
For those wondering themselves how to do this (Mango Update). Basically follow your guide to removing the old SD card and input the new one, ive had problems with kingston class 2 cards and bought a genuine sandisk 32gig class4 card which is now working and installed in my HTC Mozart.
After installing the new card and booting your phone you get a message "Memory card not working" whereas with the old original OS you got prompted to format (looks like M$ changed that feature). So what you need to do is power off the power and holding down both up and down on the volume keys power on the device. You`ll get prompted with a 2 options.
Volume Up - CRC checking ( i think)
Volume Down - Factory reset
NOTE-this will wipe your phone completly. If you havnt done a zune backup i STRONGLY advise you do this before attempting this.
Press down and you will see a message advising "Reset Complete". Power off the phone and turn it back on and the phone will restart in "First Run" mode. Once you have completed all the steps you should see the OS booted up. Check Settings\About\More Information and you should now see your new size depeding on the size of the SD card you`ve installed.
Just thought I should let you all know about my recent experience with this microSD card.
The Part number is SDSDQY-016G-A11 or SDSDQY-016G-A11A
I bought one from my local Best Buy after finding the item was marked down from $49.99 to $17.99. At first, my initial thought was "Done!" I took it home, opened the package and began transferring everything from my 8gb card to this new 16gb class 10 card.
Now, here is where the problem starts. I do not know if I did not take the necessary prerequisites for this particular card, but, after about an hour of just basic copying of data to the new card, I was struck with a CRC error and the card forced ejected itself from the USB host. I removed the card and put it back in to see what happened and found a corrupted directory from the last thing the card was copying. I couldn't access it or delete it. I couldn't copy anything into the card either. I tried formatting, to which it would complete the operation with a "This card could not be formatted." message at the end. I tried downloading different partitioning software to delete the partition, format the unallocated space and create a new partition to which I was "then" greeted with a variety of "This card is locked/Failed Operation/Space cannot be formatted/Partition could not be created." I gave up. I went back to Best Buy and exchanged the card for a new one. I thought "F*** me right? I got lucky with a bad card."
Nope.
Same thing with the new card, except it happened within 5 minutes of copying anything onto the card. This time around, I decided that I am not going through all of that again and returned the card.
Again, I do not know if I took all the necessary prerequisites before handling the card, but, to my knowledge I do not think there could be anything.
Instead, I jumped over to Hhgregg and found a different model SanDisk 16gb microSD card. I was able to copying over everything over to that card the first time and without a problem.
Also, in case it's asked, the phone did pick up the card initially before anything was copied. After the problem's arose, the phone refused to mount the card at all.
So, if anyone was considering picking up this card, its up to you what you want to do. Just Beware.
I found that the SanDisk USB device/ other SanDisk Adapters was causing errors in the 15 or so misc cards I put through it. Were you using it? or was it in your phone?
I went with the 64GB SDXC and no issues since.
At first I used the supplied adapter which is when the first card gave out. The second card I used a different adapter. A USB based one and it still gave out but much faster. Initially I tried with the card in the phone, but it kept force ejecting itself from the USB host as soon as I started. I thought it was the cable at fault.

I have the same problem i purchased 16gb ultra yesterday and today i m unable to format this card in NTFS system it formatted succesfully in fat32 bt the speed i get white transferring any file is jus 3.5-4 mbps olease help any solution for that??
I have a 7 months old SanDisk ultra 32gb and it's still very good. I have better speeds when copy inside the recovery than inside the rom.
Did you report it to Best Buy?
Hi, I have now gone through 2 cards, the first one thinking it was broke so i sent it back, and my unit is doing the exact same with my new card.
When i got my first card which was a sandisk ultra 64gb sdxc card, i thought it was originaly a bad card as my unit wouldn't see it, plus when i put it into my laptop and formatted it, it only showed as 32gb.
i exchanged that card for basically the same one, but it said made for android on it.
I put that straight into my unit when i opened it and that said the same thing on my unit, can now safely remove card, and when i went to settings > storage, there was no sign of a card, it just said mount card, and if i did this, it would say preparing card then a little after say i can safely remove it again and still show nothing.
i have now put this card back on my laptop and formatted it as fat32 (as i thought this one was going to be already seems it says its made for android devices), and again, it shows on my laptop as only 32gb and not 64gb, the file system is fat32 as well.
i have seen screen shots of people using this card in a 10.1 and their storage does show as 64gb.
i have tried using hp format utility and guiformat to format as fat32 (both show on unit but only as 32gb), i have tried using windows 7 formatter to format as exfat (which wont show in my unit), i have also tried sdformatter 3.1 which also doesn't seem to get my 64gb to show.
can anyone help, i surely couldn;t have got 2 bad cards?

Why are you cross-posting James?
lol i wasn't sure how fast i would get an answer in the other forum so i posted to both
thank you very much for your help though
What was the solution?
Edit:found the other thread
well the solution for me was to get a 32gb card as i just couldn't get a 64gb to work, i have not had the latest update either to test out a 64gb card.
Easius partition manager to format 64gb card FAT32... This will allow you to use the sd card until you get the update, it just means you're restricted to 4gb files and under....

I tried the H2TestW... when it opes it also only says 29 GB.
But when it was first seen by me it showed 64 GB with exFat format. Only upon using programs such as guiformat... to format it to FAT 32 it changed to the lower value.
Try formatting ntfs
Does the Note support 64GB cards? The Samsung Uk site states "up to 32GB". If anyone should manage to get it to show full 64GB, please share as I'm wanting to buy a larger card.
64 GB Card on Note 10.1
I am running a Sandisk 64GB SDcard on my Note 10.1 and it works fine.
I did install it...unmount it, format it and rremounted it.
It is a Wifi GT-N013 and the card worked under both ICS and JB.
Hope it helps
