Problem with brick - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Yesterday i flashed mtcb Firmware on my mtcd by mistake. Now i'm trying to Flash the right Firmware on my erisin 4046 but i always get this error. I made a boot sd card with sd Firmware tool.

Try to reformat the SD card and place the image on it again. It says can not find the image or invalid. But the recovery looks ok. Just make sure you have the mtcD image and don't do mcu

I made a boot sd card with sd_Firmware tool because i can't get by the normal way into recovery mode. When i Power on the Radio i just have a black screen. With sd Boot it starts the Radio by itself and fails with Update.

I'm not sure if the file name is the problem. It sd Firmware tool renames the Image file to sdupdate

You don't have to make a boot sd card.
You should try to get into the recovery and flash the normal file just copied on the sd card.

I think your problem is the filename. I installed Malaysk's custom firmware yesterday and I would get the same error until I renamed the firmware file to "update.img" not sdupdate.img. Try putting 2 copies of the file on the card, one with each name.
Hope that helps.

That would be in the error message, look at the attachment, I had the same problem first.
There is always a way to come into the recovery if the recovery isn't broken.
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67351829&postcount=131
Or boot with the boot card into the recovery and change the sd card with the dupdate.img & update.img once you are in the recovery

I did it thank you! I made a boot sd card and i put dupdate and Update Image on usb, than it failed with sd and with the recovery mode i Updated with usb

I had the same issue in my KD.
I procedeed in this way:
1. Downloaded a iso image of my unit (KD): dmcu e dupdate;
2. Created a bootable as card with sd.flashfirmware and boot in recovery (if you'll have an error, don't worry).
3. Removed sd card and flashed dmcu and then dupdate
Try this way

Hi,
does anybody know why I get this error every time when I tick "SD Boot"? My device is bricked and it doesn't enter recovery mode. Therefore I tried this. Creating the firmware SD without ticking "SD Boot" works fine.
Started the tool as an administrator, on a win7.
Thx in advance!

Proceed unticking "sd boot" and "upgrade firmware", create sd card, put it into gps slot and boot.
After the error message, remove sd card and proceed with booting via usb flash.

If I untick sd boot (although all tutorials say it should be ticked as it needs to make the SD bootable), I can indeed create it, but the HU doesn't boot from the SD. I start the HU and nothing happens. Are there any buttons to be pressed? I still need there has to be a solution to make it "bootable"

I ticked sd boot, After error message, unticked sd boot and create sd card...
Put into hu and it goes in recovery mode

Hey. Just wanted to mention one thing. You don't need to format your SD Card to get it to work. All you need is to put the DLOAD folder with the UPDATE.APP in it. You can have other data on the sd card as well and it still works. People end up formatting their sd cards when most of them are already fat32, at least the main partition, so maybe you should edit that step?

RazoDroiD v4.0 installation

Dear Gentlemen,
I'm trying to install 'RazoDroiD v4.0' ROM in my rooted phone, and right now i got stuck in the main screen (samsung) since 20min.
I read carefully the tutorial [GUIDE/HOW-TO] Beginner's "Getting Started" Guide...
And i followed the steps mentioned in it, i got a slight problem in the step " 8.Now that you have wiped all data, select “install zip from sd” from the main recovery menu, then “choose zip from sdcard”.
And i rebooted the phone on normal mode, accessed the SD card, changed the ROM's file name into update.zip (since i can not see that "install zip from sd" )
Rebooted the phone in recovery mode, and installed that update.zip, and it worked installed and it said welcome to "RazoDroiD 4.0", and stuck on reboot main screen (samsung).
Could anyone help me please??!
Thanks in advance

I did my friend, but no news, nothing happened, im still stuck at the samsung screen for a long time!
im thinking is there any possibility to Install the ROM from computer?!
You do partition the SD Card and install it again. Before that all you want to save from the SD Card, you copy somewhere on your computer, USB or DVD. I think on music, pictures, videos, etc.
Did you use this Clockworkmod Recovery?

Have a look at this:
Where do I start for this.?
1. You obviously haven't followed the guide to the letter...
2. You flashed a rom using stock recovery
3. You are currently using Tass.ops which is for galaxy mini and not for fit...for fit, you need beni.ops which is a different file and not a simple rename...
What do you need to do:
1. Take a deep breath and relax...try and calm down...
2. READ THE FULL GUIDE ATLEAST ONCE
3. If you have doubts, ASK here BEFORE proceeding...
4. Clear everything up, double-check and cross-check each and everything...
5. Proceed...

Help? Can't flash custom rom

I have tried redownloading the rom, downloading different and stock roms but to no avail. It always says can't open such rom...
I have already deleted stock operating system so I cannot go back to stock... I have recovery, fastboot, and that's about it. Someone please help me. :'(

Are you downloading to the tablet or a PC or MAC desktop?
If you're downing to the tablets internal try instead to down the file to a desktop and move it to an external microSD in the tab.

Have you try to redownload the rom file?? the file itself may be bad.
Try checking the md5sum of the zip file directly on the device (use adb shell from a PC and the "md5sum" command).
The zip files are fine. I almost want to think that it won't open the zips because it thinks I'm not rooted or something... Is there a way to install a rom from ADB or another way... as if I didn't have recovery?

You have USB degugging checked under settings/developer options....correct?
Pretty sure _that is onto your problem with not having the custom recovery installed.
Remember you have to hold volume down for at least 5 seconds on a reboot.
Look to see if the tiny letters upper left say booting recovery.
If TWRP is installed you'll see a blue looking screen that says "TEAMWIN" after releasing the volume button.
*just a note if you're properly rooted and can verify root go to Google Play and download GOO Manager to your tablet.

do you have the zip on the memory card? because sdcard is also known as the internal memory, not the actual microsd. move the zip to the memory card, if you have not done so already. navigate to the microsd card. You want to keep going up a level until you see a folder called REMOVABLE. open that folder, and you will see your memory card. now navigate to where the zip file is.

I tried something, and it went bad very fast!

Hi there, I'v tried to update my FT101. So I've found the right website for the job, KatKiss ROM MarshMallow 6.0.1 Release. Got a lot of things going for me so I was really in the mood for it.
I came a long way.... until the moment came to update Android itself. Entered the SD card. No SD card found. Oke let`s try another one, no SD card found. Alright, also found a link on how to install the FT101 with a direct cable from a PC. Plugged in the cable from the FT101 to my win10 pc, no connection what so ever! Oke let`s try my win7 pc, no connection what so ever! Oke let`s try the laptop, no connection what so ever! So now I'm running out of ideas, last and final try. Different SD format's, NTFS, FAT, FAT32 and exFAT (tried it with two different card's).
Made some photo's of my progress, is there anyone that can help me further? Please? :fingers-crossed:

Well yea, what else am I suppose to do with it?
Any other ideas?
I'm still hoping to fix this but i'm gonne need some help with it
So assuming by your pics, you still are able to get into bootloader/APX AND Recovery (TWRP)... So you are not yet completely bricked, this is good.
Your TWRP version is 2.3xx and you wanted KatKiss 6.0 marshmellow.
You needed the latest TWRP 2.8xx, that was in another thread.
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2434422
If you find a way to get the sdcard reading (only formatting linux ext3/4 or FAT32 will work) or the pc to connect to TWRP/APX, install the newest TWRP and reboot the recovery (important), and try again to install KatKiss 6.0mm AFTER the reboot.
Your original USB cable for the asus is in good shape? Not frayed or busted? This is important if you want to recover back to stock:
(I cant post links yet) Download the Original factory firmware and the ASUS drivers from here
Code:
http://www.asus.com/us/support/Download/28/1/0/1/32/
Those should be able to get you back to factory.
Are you using a one-click method to root and do that stuff? Most of them are outdated nowadays, packing in old cwm or old twrps.
If need arises, you should check in Windows Device Manager and see what the TF101 is showing up as when you connect.
To get the right driver for it working:
connect the USB
boot the TF101 into APX/bootloader and leave it there
delete the device in the DeviceManager (and checkbox the Delete drivers as well)
now boot the recovery of the TF101
On DeviceManger delete the new device (and driver checkbox as well) again
disconnect the USB
install the ASUS driverpackage letting it finish installing
then afterwards reconnect the USB
reboot into APX, and driver should install in device manager, when it appears, then reboot into recovery and wait for it to install a driver.
You should see if any of the tools you had used has in its directory adb.exe and the related dll files, open a command prompt in that folder with the files (hold shift when rightclicking the whitespace inthe folder> Open a Command Prompt from here). Then with TWRP open and USB connected, go to Advanced -> Sideload ABD, see if its connecting something in Windows Device Manager. If it is working, then that means you can use in the command prompt
Code:
abd sideload xxxxxxxx.zip
-----------> xxxxxxxx being the filename you want to flash
repeat the command after each one finished with the rest of the zips you want to flash
Hi ich0,
Thank you so much! I'm going to give it a go, I will let you know what happend

Possibly hard-bricked NXT-L29

Hello guys, hope this is the right place.
I have a Bootloader unlocked Huawei Mate 8 NXT-L29, no carrier, Italy. It used to have root permissions (SuperSU) and custom recovery (TWRP), but at some point I decided to update to the newest EMUI with Android Nougat in a Beta but very stable release.
Before doing that, I flashed all stock firmware which I had previously downloaded a copy of using fastboot and it worked. I set the phone up, ran an update which was required to update to Nougat Beta and then factory reset-ed the phone.
Eventually, to get root, I followed a guide that said to flash the correct version of TWRP (worked), open it (worked), flash the Nougat update data zip file. I searched the internet for it and found a zip package that contained two zip files, one of them was called something like "update data only". Since the guide said "data" I only flashed data (which actually goes on the system partition). Once that was done, I flashed phh superuser zip, wiped data and rebooted.
The phone was working... Except that many important system packages were missing (basically all Huawei apps). I had to get through the setup using a USB keyboard, then I headed to playstore and downloaded SwiftKey. Among the apps missing: the file manager, the clock, the themes, health...
So I realized I actually had had to flash BOTH the zip files, not only "data", but instead of flashing it too right away, I went to TWRP and wiped system, data and boot partitions, to start over, with the intention of reflashing all the original Android 6.0 IMGs via fastboot and redoing the update and all. The wiping of system crashed saying that the partition could not be erased.
I plugged the phone in the computer via USB and issued a fastboot flash command to the system partition with the stock ROM image. It failed flashing "sparse image". I tried to at least return to stock recovery; it flashed, but when I tried to open it, it hanged on the "Your device is booting now..." message.
Boot does not seem to flash either.
After flashing back to TWRP, the custom recovery is still working, but the official one or the phone itself are not.
I even tried the dload method:
I formatted an SD Card as MSDOS/MBR with only one, primary, partition with a FAT32 file system. I copied the UPDATE.APP file into a folder called dload, which is the one and only folder on the SD card. Here's what my phone says about it: "Software install failed! Incompatibility with current version. Please download the correct update package." above a button to reboot the mobile.
If I try to boot the device it gets stuck on the "Your device is booting now..." line.
Trying bootloader relock from fastboot only spits out an error: "root type is risk". I don't even know what that means.
I really hope there is some way to save my handset, or maybe it's just kissed this world goodbye [emoji26]
ANY kind of help is greatly appreciated! And thank you all in advance.

Hello c|nder, first of all thank you very much for your post. I am a bit confused. Where do I find this "roll back" you mentioned, and how do I flash it/apply it?

Search for noughat roll back there will be a few of them, download the one that applies to you example 636 or whatever location the phone is branded and unzip the download and copy the update.App to dload\ on sd card is there is no dload folder make one. After that turn off phone. Press and hold all 3 buttons for 10 seconds it will go into update mode and once finished just download a firmware applicable for ur phone model and update it via update again .
Okay. Will try and let you know in a few minutes

Does Russia/Asia/Middle East/Africa work for Europe, cause it's the only one I found

Okay so the Russia one worked, though I had to dig a lot to find the Marshmallow file as Huawei thought it was a good idea to remove all official packages from the site. Now the phone is flashing. I'll update soon, but I believe it's gonna work now!
