I have tried both CWM recover and TWRP and I cannot get either one to open a zip to flash. Both say the same thing;
"Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E: Can't open /sdcard/CleanROM 2.7 Inheritance ODEX.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted."
I have tried redownloading the rom, downloading different and stock roms but to no avail. It always says can't open such rom...
I have already deleted stock operating system so I cannot go back to stock... I have recovery, fastboot, and that's about it. Someone please help me. :'(
did you unlock your device prior to rooting? silly question, i know.

Yes, my device is unlocked. I successfully used the bootloader unlocking tool by asus.
Are you downloading to the tablet or a PC or MAC desktop?
If you're downing to the tablets internal try instead to down the file to a desktop and move it to an external microSD in the tab.

Have you try to redownload the rom file?? the file itself may be bad.
Try checking the md5sum of the zip file directly on the device (use adb shell from a PC and the "md5sum" command).
The zip files are fine. I almost want to think that it won't open the zips because it thinks I'm not rooted or something... Is there a way to install a rom from ADB or another way... as if I didn't have recovery?

These messages come from the stock recovery. If you really installed CWM and TWRP, it didn't work - try installing your recovery again.

You have USB degugging checked under settings/developer options....correct?
Pretty sure _that is onto your problem with not having the custom recovery installed.
Remember you have to hold volume down for at least 5 seconds on a reboot.
Look to see if the tiny letters upper left say booting recovery.
If TWRP is installed you'll see a blue looking screen that says "TEAMWIN" after releasing the volume button.
*just a note if you're properly rooted and can verify root go to Google Play and download GOO Manager to your tablet.
GOO Manager is the easiest way to install the latest TWRP intead of using fastboot.

do you have the zip on the memory card? because sdcard is also known as the internal memory, not the actual microsd. move the zip to the memory card, if you have not done so already. navigate to the microsd card. You want to keep going up a level until you see a folder called REMOVABLE. open that folder, and you will see your memory card. now navigate to where the zip file is.

Dear Gentlemen,
I'm trying to install 'RazoDroiD v4.0' ROM in my rooted phone, and right now i got stuck in the main screen (samsung) since 20min.
I read carefully the tutorial [GUIDE/HOW-TO] Beginner's "Getting Started" Guide...
And i followed the steps mentioned in it, i got a slight problem in the step " 8.Now that you have wiped all data, select “install zip from sd” from the main recovery menu, then “choose zip from sdcard”.
And i rebooted the phone on normal mode, accessed the SD card, changed the ROM's file name into update.zip (since i can not see that "install zip from sd" )
Rebooted the phone in recovery mode, and installed that update.zip, and it worked installed and it said welcome to "RazoDroiD 4.0", and stuck on reboot main screen (samsung).
Could anyone help me please??!
Thanks in advance

I did my friend, but no news, nothing happened, im still stuck at the samsung screen for a long time!
im thinking is there any possibility to Install the ROM from computer?!
You do partition the SD Card and install it again. Before that all you want to save from the SD Card, you copy somewhere on your computer, USB or DVD. I think on music, pictures, videos, etc.
Did you use this Clockworkmod Recovery?

Have a look at this:
Where do I start for this.?
1. You obviously haven't followed the guide to the letter...
2. You flashed a rom using stock recovery
3. You are currently using Tass.ops which is for galaxy mini and not for fit...for fit, you need beni.ops which is a different file and not a simple rename...
What do you need to do:
1. Take a deep breath and relax...try and calm down...
2. READ THE FULL GUIDE ATLEAST ONCE
3. If you have doubts, ASK here BEFORE proceeding...
4. Clear everything up, double-check and cross-check each and everything...
5. Proceed...

for Motorola Motoluxe XT615
Foreword
At the time there are two different kind of CWM recoverys. Both have their positiv and negativ characteristics. Some say the installable is better then the temp once, other think in a other way. So choose for your own and make your own experience.
Installable Recovery
At first your phone has to be rooted! In the next step you have to activate "Unknown Applications" (Settings > Applications).
Download the attached recovery(ENG).apk below or click for download. Copy the file to your sdcard and navigate to the directory where you have pasted the file in.
Click on it and install the APK.
Now you should have a app called "System Recovery" in your menü. Before you continue you have to connect your phone to a power supply or to your PC.
Now open the app and press the button with the title "Enter Recovery". You will be asked if you want to give the application root right.
Agree and the phone will boot into recovery mode!
As usual you navigate with volume+, volume- and except with the powerbutton.
NOTE:
- You´re just able to enter custom recovery while your phone is connected to PC or power supply.
- This version of CWM has a restore bug, so you should not restore a nandroid backup with this version!
Temp Recovery
By this type of recovery you have to execute a batchscript on a PC running Windows.
Unzip the archive and double click on the "-=Recovery-loader=-.bat". Further instructions are mentioned in the script.
NOTE: Everytime you want to use this type of recovery, you have to reexecute the script
v6.0.2.7 (recommended version / click for download)
- Language: English
- no MD5 mismatch error
- no root required!
- after long time of testing, we can say it´ll work for 99%
v6.0.1.5 (click for download)
v6.0.1.4 (click for download):
Changelog
25.01.12: Added new temp recovery 6.0.2.7 by enox and set as recommanded version
18.10.12: Added new temp recovery 6.0.1.5 by enox and set as recommanded version
03.10.12: Removed chinese Temp-Recovery 5.5.0.4 because englisch Temp-Recovery 6.0.1.4 is fully functional too and now recommanded to use
22.09.12: Published CWM Recovery
Thanks goes to: enox.co | monkichi1987 | cjr123 | luxxx123

It will sure help others who don't yet know how to install and use it

the command behind the button only shuts down the phone.
when it is connected to the pc or power supply it will automaticly start into charge-mode.
normaly you'll see a big battery thats charging.
But this process got hijacked so that it loads the cwm.
At all.. when you press the button without a connection to anything it just shuts down ;D

When you restore via recovery(ENG).apk then your phone will brick!
So just restore with the temp recovery.
Finally! I hope we'll get a more stable version soon and custom ROM's!

I was able to figure it out last night. Took a couple of days and a few tries. Found a website in French that explained it (luckily I know french very well). At first I had problems getting SUTLR to patch correctly, ADB drivers and moto drivers and different SUTLR versions later I got that working.
Then couldn't get SuperOneClick to actually root it, stuck at the "getting mount path". Tricky getting to time it right with rebooting the phone and opening that application, but after 3-4 times, got it rooted. Got the separate partition made and using link2sd too. All is well now

You want to remove the installed CWM? That gets executed via APK?
Should be realy easy just delete the "battery_charger"-symlink and paste in the original file.
When you want to unroot your phone, you have to flash a sbf or do a factory reset.

What update.zip do you want to flash?
First of all, all props goes to the OP of this thread. This is merely a step-by-step detailed guide on the process since there were a lot of members complaining that the steps were unclear.
- Download the following and extract all the files:
MT6577 USB VCOM drivers (link: http://www.mediafire.com/?2sf30pboet4qvov)
SP Flash Tool v3.1224.01.rar (link: http://www.mediafire.com/?h68v8yhhtci8h0e)
CWM-ROOT-B92M.zip (link: http://www.mediafire.com/?8o2yx9ssz1abwon)
2.5gb-data-perm-root.zip (link: http://www.mediafire.com/?4wg5f6rgat8qdrt)
- Install the MT6577 USB VCOM drivers drivers
- Inside the 2.5gb-data-perm-root folder make sure the files have the following names (CASE SENSITIVE!):
recovery.img
EBR1.img
boot.img
logo.img
MBR.img
preloader.img
Screenshot:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
- Turn off your phone and unplugg the USB cable
- Start SP Flash Tool
- Under options in the menubar check "USB mode"
- Under File in the menubar click on "Open scatter-loading file" and select MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt from the CWM-ROOT-B92M folder
- Double click the following rows inside SP Flash Tool:
PRELOADER and select preloader.img (from 2.5gb-data-perm-root folder)
MBR and select MBR.img (from 2.5gb-data-perm-root folder)
EBR1 and select EBR1.img (from 2.5gb-data-perm-root folder)
BOOTIMG and selet boot.img (from 2.5gb-data-perm-root folder)
RECOVERY and select recovery.img (from 2.5gb-data-perm-root folder)
LOGO and select logo.img (from 2.5gb-data-perm-root folder)
You should have the following then:
- Click on "Download" inside SP Flash Tool
- Take out the battery of the phone
- Put the battery in
- Connect USB cable with your computer
- The bar at the bottom of SP Flash tool should go to 100% a few time and present you with a green circle when done
- Done flashing, hit volume up + power to start up CWM and make a backup
I hope this detailed guide helps everyone out

After flashing with 2.5GB ROM, I have issue with my camera: it detects 80MB partition as the SDcard partition.
Anyone know how to change this? Or.. which file should I look for to change the camera save location?
Make sure you have an external sd-card inserted in the phone. It should automatically be mounted to /sdcard/ where you should have enough space to store your camera photos.

What charger are you using and how fast/slw will it charge a empty battery?
Mine takes for ever (8hrs from 0%), the charger fastcardnet send me, but also a standard usb charger i got.
I'm just using the default micro USB chargers I have laying around. I never charge via a computer (USB) though.

Yes worked!
Hi,
I have followed this guide but I didn't get root access.
I also wiped data and did the factory reset but there is no superuser...
What do I have to do now?
And I have another question: What do I need to do to go to the Internet by connecting to my Laptop (in it's function as a Wifi-hotspot) and using his wired-internet-connection? I only got it by Ad-Hoc but it seems that this doesn't work anyway...
Thx,

Try flashing again and Superuser should be working. Once flashed I suggest you start the play store and you'll see that there is an update available.
About the Wi-fi: that's something computer related so don't know for sure about that one. I just Googled and came across this website:

I have the same problem, how did you fix it?
I had a 2.5 GB space on my Internal SD Card before I do this root, now it is 83 MB, I could try a factory reset but I still need the rooting so I will run into this problem again.

When I first did the root I did not the su.zip step so I booted my phone and it informed me that my internal SD card is damaged amd asked me if I wanted to format it, I clicked yes and then it became 83 MB, I did the root again and flashed su.zip too, I also tried to format the internal SD card but it is still 83 MB.
I think I need to reformat with specifying the new size, how can I do that?

Thank you codeworkx for original development and getting the ball rolling!
These are unofficial builds compiled from source with the desire to stay as current as possible. The official builds are several builds behind, and might not be the most compatible with current CM10.1 releases.
Built from source, not responsible for any issues this may cause if you do it wrong, YMMV

Thank you for this guide and the links you provide!
I copied the .zip file to the SD card and I can access it via File Manager.
However, when I reboot to recovery mode (Android system recovery 3e) and try to install the zip-file, I get this error:
E: failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)
I can't access the SD card from revorery mode... Any ideas?
You can't install this with stock recovery.

Thanks for your reply... So what is the right way to install CWM recovery on stock recovery? Do you recommend to flash as PDA via ODIN? The problem is that my stock recovery is unable to access my SD card so I can't install any update as zip-file via the current recovery...

THANK YOU

couldn't find a tar img for gt-p5110 even on cwm site (they had a zip file not a tar)
thank you so much! I pressed thanks!
mount external sd card
Does any of these allow mounting of an external sd card so we can backup to it and install zips etc.. The most current CWM still does not mount my external sd card on my p5113 it always says cant find the mount when i choose the external sd. I've tried two different versions now and am running the latest cwm with same results. it be nice to leverage the external card like i do on my phone to store nandroid backups and roms.
Thanks.
It does for me, but I always use TWRP personally... I test that the external SD mounts in CWM long enough to install TRWP back off of it! Lol

I've tried flashing the .tar via odin but it doesn't seem to work, odin says the flashing has suceed but when I try to boot in recovery (vol down+power) I just get stock recovery, I tried it with 4 other recoveries and every time the same thing occurs. My galaxy tab gt-p5110 is running stock 4.1.2 which I updated it to a few days ago.

I had the same thing over here. I used 6.0.1.2 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34490421 this post (link to the recovery file: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B02Uc9IrgGXQZjAxRUhtMW96NUk/edit?pli=1#) and installed that. That worked fine. Then I just updated through recovery to 6.0.3.3. Remember to use the zip file from recovery, and the tar file from Odin.
I'm back! I'm currently setting up a build environment for CM10.2 and then I'll build the most recent recoveries for our tab.
I had started building the 6.0.3.5 and then suddenly the 6.0.3.6 commit was pushed so I scrapped that! Figure using the CM10.2 sources rather than CM10.1 will make sure everything is fresh...
6.0.3.6 normal zips are up. Tested it with my GT-P5113. Micro SD, adb, all working. Touch builds will come later.
Hey look! 6.0.3.6 Touch!
Whoops. Must be a problem with the build servers. Touch is closed source so I can't build it myself. I'll take down the links until further notice.

Well that sucks. I tried using the build server for touch again and it threw up a bunch of errors after rebooting to recovery...

Folks,
I was trying to clean up my oneplus one yesterday and have accidentally wiped the OS on it. I still have TWRP 3.0.2(I believe the latest installed on it). I imagine to get it rooted and put a custom ROM on it, I would need to first bring it back to stock rom since there is nothing on it now. The issue is when I'm trying to put it fastboot mode the command line "fastboot devices" does not recognize the device so I can't even move forward to the next steps. I have installed the latest version of the SDK tools which has the google driver. Not sure if I am missing something..Would appreciate if someone could please guide me in moving forward.
Much Thanks

Dont worry dude, first
1. Download Rom and put on Flaskdisk
2. Open TWRP
4. Flash the rom on flaskdisk using USB OTG
5. Profit

Or connect your phone to PC. Have phone on twrp and transfer files and flash. I do this usually on every clean flash.

Open twrp -> mount -> internal storage -> connect to PC via USB -> copy the ROM -> flash it. It will get you a OS, Then root it by flashing SuperSu. And for fastboot ... Do you have device driver installed? If no check for universal drivers on google.

Thank you for the response. I did put the device in twrp and connected my device to the PC but nothing popped up to drag anywhere? I thought it might be a driver thing but when I did connect my device to the PC(while in twrp) I can hear a sound on the PC which tells me that it does know a device connected, just nothing happens after that?
Anything I'm missing??

Follow this step dude:
1. Open TWRP and Wipe System, Data, Cache, and Dalviak
2. Flash Firmware/Modem. C6 0214 or C7 00011
3. After that try flash the ROM (Jgcaap) again.
5. Profit.
