[HELP!] GPS not working after updating to Marshmallow!!! - D850 - AT&T LG G3

Right after I updated my D850 to MM, my GPS doesn't get a fix on location properly. Sometimes it just does not work and sometimes when it does work it points me the wrong way. I've never had this issue before, the GPS also does not seem to be live too, meaning that it doesn't update constantly. Instead it jumps every 10-15 seconds. Am I the only one with the issue? :crying: :crying:

Did you try performing a factory reset?

Twice, but the problem persists.
Edit: I did the hard reset through phone but didn't downgrade-reset to factory using PC if that's what you meant.

So you wiped everything? Strange that should fix any software issues.

I can definitely see this being a software problem with marshmallow. Ever since downloading it on my LG G3 D850 it can barley read sim cards anymore, and since D850 (as far as I know) can't downgrade I'm screwed.

If it can barely read SIM cards that's a hardware issue. Software wouldn't cause that. What do you mean you cannot downgrade? Yes you can.. You just follow my guide and use LGUP and flash kitkat.

The phone shows little icon for download mode and then after 2-3 seconds it comes to a page that says Firmware Update with a USB icon. And below it says "Do not unplug the USB connection until the process is complete" with a progress bar.

G3 Bricked/Boot Loop

So I read other threads with similar issues but nothings seemed to work.
Basically my LG G3 (AT&T) started acting odd one day. Resetting every 3-5 minutes, overheating (more than usual), wouldn't connect to Wi-Fi. Eventually I reset it and the problems got worse. I downloaded a boot logger that can't figure out why, there's no physical damage (EDIT: when this first started, I noticed that the little pink water damage sticker on the battery was, well pink, however I never got it wet and could've been pink before but I don't know), I factory reset it again and nothing, swapped the battery and everything. I could've done more but it is still under warranty so I kinda gave up and decided to exchange it.
The new one is on the way and comes tomorrow or Wednesday however now my G3 won't even turn on, or rather it stays locked on the boot screen (the LG logo specifically) it won't go past that. I tried to hard reset it with the power button and it gets to the screen with the android logo with its chest open and just resets again.
I'm not trying to fix it anymore I just want advice on wiping it basically as I can't even wipe it through my computer. With my last phone what I did before selling it, and what I wanted to do again, is encrypt it, then factory reset to just be extra safe and I wanna know if there's anyway I can do this basically with the phone like this, or if I can get it to a state where I can do that again. I'm not all too familiar with android this low level so I want to know if I can basically "hard" wipe it because I can't even connect it to my computer (it keeps resetting).
Also one time on a boot it said the kernel crashed, don't know how relevant that is as it only happened once out of at least 1,000 times by this point.
Any help would be appreciated, super frustrated right now.
Thank you!

So I'm going through the tot method, however when I plug the phone in I get an error that "Windows malfunctioned the last time the device was plugged in" I plugged it in last night to see if I could do anything and it kept resetting. But in device manager it just shows up as an unknown USB device and there is now no ports section.

What's your OS? If windows 8/10 you'll need to unhide. But if your getting a windows malfunctioned the last time error that would be your computer problem.

Wait. What are you trying to do? Why are you needing to flash it if you haven't already voided your warranty? Rooting/Custom rom "voids warranty" in itself.
Flash a tot or kdz puts the phone 100% complete back to stock as you bought it.

Lg G3 d850 Marshmallow boot loop.

So I recently updated to Android 6.0 and it worked perfectly. So about 1 month later (today) I get prompted with a message stating there is an update going to install in30 sec. I let it do its thing setting the phone to comeback right when it's booting up(or so I thought) instead it's the boot loop going on over and over. So I remeber the flash tool so I decided to go with that but it didnt work. Is there any fix for the Android 6.0 boot loop on LG g3 d850?

Upgrading to 6.0 without a Verizon sim card

Hi, new here and looking for some info. I recently bought a used Verizon GN5 unlocked on eBay and using it here in Japan. However, it's still on Android 5.1.1 and I want to upgrade to 6.0. problem is, it keeps saying that software update is not available and asking me to try again. Is it not possible to just connect to Wi-Fi and install the upgrade. With Docomo it's possible. TIA

Download Smart Switch for PC or Mac: http://www.samsung.com/us/smart-switch/
Install.
Run.
Plug your phone in.
It will say there's an update available and ask if you'd like to download it.
Say yes, and wait.
I'm having the exact same problem (using a Verizon Note 5 in Europe).
I tried the (latest version of) Smart Switch, but the installation hangs at the beginning; is it possible the SM-N920V isn't supported? Or am I doing something wrong?
@blindmanpb, thank you very much. It worked perfectly. That's why I love Samsung, support for every minute detail on their devices.

Hello, I've read somewhere here that without a Verizon SIM you cannot get OTA on this model . also on my device smart switch does not work with updating, it keeps saying something about server error. The only way I could get it to update was to use the Verizon Updater from the phone. Never thought that Verizon could be such a bunch of retards with such limitations. I wish I could convert it to a 920C model but it does not seem possible

You can either download the firmware update that you want to install and flash it via recovery using side load if you know how or just download odin from @Misterxtc post above and use that on Windows to flash it... The easiest way is odin.

Need help

So after flashing my D850 from 4.4.2 to 7.0, I cannot access TWRP recovery. Ever since I flashed the rom, I keep getting these 3 errors:
"boot certification verify
secure booting error
cause:boot certification verify".
I can still boot into 7.0, but it's not fully functional. It's missing apps, functions, keeps crashing, etc.
Any suggestions to fixing this?

The only problem I'm having is that I can't change the port settings. My PC recognizes my G3 as "AOSP on D850".

After clicking on my device under portable devices in device manager, the only options I get are general, driver, details, events, power management. I'm using Windows 10 to do this.

It wouldnt be under portable devices, it would be under Communication Ports. If you don't see that you would need to unhide them

I'm honestly about to throw my phone against a wall right now. I cannot boot into download mode anymore, my computer won't allow me change the port settings, the only thing I can do is enter the rom. USB debugging still works and I can transfer files, but everything else is broken.

So your using a USB 2.0 only port right when trying to put the device into download mode?
I still dont understand why your saying it wont allow you to change the port settings? I've never ever seen this. If the port is there you can change it. Remmeber your phone HAS to be in download mode for the com port to show up to change it to com41. Why not try LGUP?

Thank you, I was using the wrong USB port. It's currently installing the device. What is LGUP?

LGUP is part of the back to stock guide. Theres KDZ flash tool, TOT flashtool, and LGUP which flashes both tot and kdz files.

What's the reason it's stuck on the logo? Did you do something like attempt root or anything?
If you haven't done anything to cause it did you try performing a factory reset?
It could be a hardware issue or battery problem if you didn't do anything to cause the stuck on LG logo problem.

So with the phone off you've tired holding down vol up and power or vol down and power to attempt to factory reset? Your phone doesn't need to boot into the OS to factory reset it...
Also normally this doesn't happen unless it's a hardware issue since you didn't do anything to cause it.
Was the device running MM? If so you need to use LGUP. Lg flashtools 2014 won't work if your running MM 6.0.
Just check out the general section there's a back to stock guide with links to firmwares.

Ok so I checked it, can you tell me which stock firmware to download, also my phone reboots and I don't know if it running on mm

Just use LGUP. And flash your models kdz. There's no specific one just make sure it matches your model.

Yes. Just place your phone in download mode.
If your phone still does the same after flashing it's either your battery or a hardware failure.

A couple of us had the same problem. Just buy a new battery and replace it yourself. It fixed the bootloop for all of us.

Just search the forum and YouTube for lg g flex 2 bootloop and you'll see. I was in the same situation as well and that helped. I replaced it multiple times and I even baked the motherboard in the oven. Just the battery was the issue and thank God nothing worse. And the battery is like 10$ so not too much. Hope you fix it.
