So I read other threads with similar issues but nothings seemed to work.
Basically my LG G3 (AT&T) started acting odd one day. Resetting every 3-5 minutes, overheating (more than usual), wouldn't connect to Wi-Fi. Eventually I reset it and the problems got worse. I downloaded a boot logger that can't figure out why, there's no physical damage (EDIT: when this first started, I noticed that the little pink water damage sticker on the battery was, well pink, however I never got it wet and could've been pink before but I don't know), I factory reset it again and nothing, swapped the battery and everything. I could've done more but it is still under warranty so I kinda gave up and decided to exchange it.
The new one is on the way and comes tomorrow or Wednesday however now my G3 won't even turn on, or rather it stays locked on the boot screen (the LG logo specifically) it won't go past that. I tried to hard reset it with the power button and it gets to the screen with the android logo with its chest open and just resets again.
I'm not trying to fix it anymore I just want advice on wiping it basically as I can't even wipe it through my computer. With my last phone what I did before selling it, and what I wanted to do again, is encrypt it, then factory reset to just be extra safe and I wanna know if there's anyway I can do this basically with the phone like this, or if I can get it to a state where I can do that again. I'm not all too familiar with android this low level so I want to know if I can basically "hard" wipe it because I can't even connect it to my computer (it keeps resetting).
Also one time on a boot it said the kernel crashed, don't know how relevant that is as it only happened once out of at least 1,000 times by this point.
Any help would be appreciated, super frustrated right now.
Thank you!

So I'm going through the tot method, however when I plug the phone in I get an error that "Windows malfunctioned the last time the device was plugged in" I plugged it in last night to see if I could do anything and it kept resetting. But in device manager it just shows up as an unknown USB device and there is now no ports section.

What's your OS? If windows 8/10 you'll need to unhide. But if your getting a windows malfunctioned the last time error that would be your computer problem.

Do you know where I could find the driver files? Not the executable, I'm gonna try to "force" update the driver cause it just can't recognize the device but I need the drivers and can't find them.
And yea still Windows 10.

Wait. What are you trying to do? Why are you needing to flash it if you haven't already voided your warranty? Rooting/Custom rom "voids warranty" in itself.
Flash a tot or kdz puts the phone 100% complete back to stock as you bought it.

Wasn't sure if it was stated still in my OP or not, but that error usually occured when flashing the tot method for the first time on a new phone, which you would use a button combo to factory reset while booting up the phone.

I tried a great many things to get rid of the 2 status and nothing worked... I think I reflashed no less than 20 times, and finally one took. The flash tool, if left alone would always come back as failed and I'd be left with a status 2. I tried factory resets, I tried various other little tricks listed here and there on the web (usb ports, plugging and unplugging at various times, etc) nothing worked... finally after a dozen or so tries at various trick methods, I thought, well let's just do it by the book one more time and see what happens, and sure enough I finally got a status 3 and a pass, pulled the battery and rebooted, everything is good now.

Also remember flashtool will almost ALWAYS fail.. Once its 85% its pretty much done. If it fails past 85% it's done flashing, the rest is just waiting for reboot.

yeah tried that too, it booted to a factory reset status 2 screen.
I'm sure I'm the odd man out in this process, but for me it wasn't as straight forward as all that. I think perhaps the answer for me was flashing multiple times until it finally decided to work. I know with the sgs3 (my last phone) some people had to flash multiple times and others didn't, I'm thinking it's the same here.

The first thing you need to do is get rid of the toolbox. Nothing but trouble. Plus, if you can't modify your phone without a toolbox you shouldn't be modifying it at all. Uninstall whatever drivers you have installed, reboot the PC, install these drivers, reboot PC again, connect phone, flash stock images (see section 8 of my guide thread).
Exactly how did your phone get into the boot loop?

I'm pretty sure you just got unlucky and had a corrupt persist partition, it's a bug that has happened to a few people, that particular automated flash tool flashes the stock images plus it flashes the persist partition. There isn't really anything you can do it avoid it, but i don't think I've seen it affect the same phone twice.

i think i spoke a bit too soon. everything worked fine, but now my phone is getting stuck when it boots. the screen it totally unresponsive. this was the same thing which happened when i restarted my phone. it might be some app i have installed.
i might have to redo the process.
is there a way to find out which one it is?
The only real way to find out would be to start fresh and introduce apps one at a time to see which one is the culprit. But I'd be surprised if an app was causing this.

Hello guys,
I need your assistance with this issue. I got this Boost Mobile LG LS770/Stylo phone from eBay and when I wiped/restored it to clean everything from the other person, the phone still wants me to enter the information from the previous person before I can use it. Of course that is not an option. I tried.
Also, since I am unable to get to the Android OS, I cannot put it in debug mode either. So I tried a few things to no avail. This is what I have done so far:
Put the phone in ADB mode via recovery - Done, but I am unable to sideload anything. I get this error.. "* cannot read 'sideload' *"
Put the phone in download mode "Fireware Update" - Done, and I can see my port as COM3, but when I run the next step, I get a message that says... "Hello, my name is LAF....." and nothing happens.
I tried using the LG one click root tool, but that requires the phone to be in USB debug mode and like I said before, I am unable to even get to the welcome screen in android. I can't get past wifi setup in reality, I can't even skip it.
I have been at this all day today. Can you please help me out? I really appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks
You need a USB-OTG cable and some files. If you have a USB-OTG i'll reply with what you'll need to do. Also, have you contacted the eBay member letting them no they FRP screwed you and you basically own a brick now?

Thank you for the suggestion , but this method does not work. I have already tried this and after the tool went through all the steps, it still asks for the previous account. I have found on some other forums that LG patched this flaw a few months ago and it is no longer possible to bypass FRP Factory Reset Protection. I guess I have a rock until someone can figure out how to bypass this "Feature", which in my opinion should be illegal because it forces people to buy devices from carriers only and you can no longer sell your phone online to anyone, as you cannot give them the account.

Basically once I got to settings I clicked unknown sources and then enabled USB debugging and oem unlock. After that I flashed twrp and then a rooted system image. After that I used http://androiding.how/bypass-google-account-verification-on-lg-g4-g3-and-others and it worked

I honestly don't remember. I'll try to figure it out and get back to you. I think it was through the keyboard. I returned the phone already so I do t have it on front of me.
Look for anything with terms of service. Once you're on the internet you can download the settings app that everyone uses on the internet.

Web trust me i went crazy with this for 3 days. My friend gave me his Stylo from work to unlock and i had this same issue. Flashed back to 5.1.1e,i,j, using kdz files and all the exploits that these guys are using have been shut down. If your on MM forget it. The only thing that worked for me was that tool i linked in the other thread. I hope your wrong on the virus part, ill check my laptop, but your the first person to mention that. Either way i flashed back to 5.1.1 from MM, used the tool, rebooted and it worked i signed in with his gmail.

I understand and I apologize if I sounded like I was shutting your advise down. That was not my intention. I was just stating what my virus tools detected and my experience. Regardless, I decided to ignore the virus warning and let the tool run and do what the steps on the word document stated. It went through all the steps without issues and I got the same matching screen as in the tutorial document. However, after I reboot, I still get the same screen that reads, login with a google account previously associated with this device.
Now, the one piece I'm not sure I understand from your message above is the part about flashing to 5.1.1 from MM using kdz files. How can you flash the phone when you cannot get into the settings to enable usb debug mode? I have tried everything. I even downloaded a rom file image that I placed on an Micro SD card and tried running it from recovery to no avail.
Maybe you are correct and I am just missing a step. Would you mind expanding on the flashing 5.1.1 from MM part? Maybe what steps and files you had to use?
Also, I'm not sure I understand this portion of your message. You signed in with who's gmail?

is there a software older than 5.1.1 that can be flashed to the device?
You can use touch assistant to get in to settings and then disable all google aps, works for me on lg stylo 6.0, PaulieP he is the person that found this method

What's the reason it's stuck on the logo? Did you do something like attempt root or anything?
If you haven't done anything to cause it did you try performing a factory reset?
It could be a hardware issue or battery problem if you didn't do anything to cause the stuck on LG logo problem.

So with the phone off you've tired holding down vol up and power or vol down and power to attempt to factory reset? Your phone doesn't need to boot into the OS to factory reset it...
Also normally this doesn't happen unless it's a hardware issue since you didn't do anything to cause it.
Was the device running MM? If so you need to use LGUP. Lg flashtools 2014 won't work if your running MM 6.0.
Just check out the general section there's a back to stock guide with links to firmwares.

Just use LGUP. And flash your models kdz. There's no specific one just make sure it matches your model.

Yes. Just place your phone in download mode.
If your phone still does the same after flashing it's either your battery or a hardware failure.

Just search the forum and YouTube for lg g flex 2 bootloop and you'll see. I was in the same situation as well and that helped. I replaced it multiple times and I even baked the motherboard in the oven. Just the battery was the issue and thank God nothing worse. And the battery is like 10$ so not too much. Hope you fix it.

Where did this problem start? Did you cause this by modifying, attempting to root or flashing the device with something that caused this?
If so, about your only option is to use your device's flashtool to flash the stock firmware. If your device's stock firmware isn't available then you might be out of luck repairing your device. If this is the case then your only other option might be getting someone that has a device exactly like yours that is rooted and getting them to pull copies of the various .img files needed for your device then using adb shell to dd those .img files on your device. But, to be honest, I don't think this is gonna happen for you. You probably will have to take the device to a repair shop. It will probably be cheaper to just buy another tablet because the cost of repair will probably be more than what you paid for the device.

Its pretty easy to fix a soft bricked device , even if stock rom isnt available , any rom compatible with his device can fix the issue .

To be compatible, the ROM typically has to be ported and that usually requires the stock firmware or stock source from the device that the ROM is being ported over to. 99% of the time you can't just flash a ROM from a different model number, even if the CPU is the same, there's quite a bit more to it than that. The android operating system is built for the specific hardware it is installed on, the two devices would have to be exactly the same and have the exact same components, any differences in hardware make he firmwares incompatible.
For this particular device, I doubt the stock firmware or stock source code area available, even if it were, porting another ROM wouldn't be necessary because if it were available it could just be flashed with that instead of porting a ROM.
About the only time a ROM from a different model number can be used without any porting or edits being made is when the devices are exactly the same device just rebranded with a different "name".
But thanks for trying to tell me something that you thought I didn't know, now it seems I've told you something that you didn't know.

1.Search for your tablet's root package , download it and move it to your tablet's sd card. Then enter your recovery mode by pressing power button+ Home button+ Volume button at same time for 10sec. Once entered , go to option "apply update from sd card" and select the root package you downloaded. (CONGRATS YOU HAVE ROOTED YOUR PHONE!)
2.Search for your tablet's 'custom recovery' , download it and flash it through odin tool(pc) .
3.Final Step ! BASED ON THE RECOVERY YOU FLASHED THESE STEPS MAY DIFFER , SO REPLY ME IF YOU SUCCEED IN FLASHING CUSTOM RECOVERY

Odin is for Samsung devices, not other devices.
The device they are repairing is not a Samsung device. They have this device and a Samsung device. The issue on this device occurred while they were in the process of flashing their Samsung device.
I know you're trying to help but don't post anything unless you are absolutely certain that you know what you're talking about.
In this case, you didn't and that can easily lead to a hard bricked device because they followed your instruction.
Stick to answering questions about devices you personally have dealt with, don't go assuming that you understand someone else's device. They are all different, the methods, tricks and tools for one won't necessarily work on another.
You understand android somewhat but judging by your posts, you don't understand the differences in devices and methods. But you will after you've been here a while.

thankyou so much for the fast responses much appreciated to take your time to explain. Okay i have a question what would be the course of detailed action to preform getting any and all missing .img's it may need. Also i know its a crazy question but would i be able to preform this in store with the displayed tablet that matches mine? How difficult is something like this, and is there any other methods at all I can try to boot past this bootloader. And now that i remember correctly from reading others this happened when I upgraded to 5.1 or 5.0 thank you everybody once again!

No, you wouldn't be able to get it from a tablet in the store, it's a rather involved process that requires connecting the device to PC, it also requires rooting the device and flashing a custom recovery, and that's all before you actually get to where you can pull the files. It'll take a couple of hours,or more to do it.

The only other option is pretty risky. You can try a firmware from another device that has the same CPU and hardware as your device, you'd have to compare specs. It would have to have the same CPU, same screen resolution, same camera(front and rear), same amount of RAM, same amount of internal storage, same accelerometers, etc.. It has to have all the same components that yours has.
