Hi, I had my S6 on android 5.0.2, carrier version, rooted and unlocked (with a imei which corresponded to a nokia after unlocking). The phone worked fine, I had service, I could make calls, etc... I decided to flash stock unbranded marshmallow on it, so I downloaded the firmware from sammobile and flashed it. Everything went right except I didnt have service (No service). I went desperate, I flashed modems, read thousands of threads, but nothing. Any suggestions?

When you flash your device you may loss your Imei number so you won't be getting service .but looks like you haven't lost it (provided you found them in the the settings option and not from the box which you got your phone from)
Look for a baseband fix for your phone in the site you got your ROM.
PS edit your previous post and delete your imei no.
I was just asking if it was there .
Ok, thanks alot. What would be a baseband fix?

Just a zip file of the baseband version that needs to flashed through recovery so the phone can get service
Edit: Your baseband version is OK as well.
Share the link where you got the rom pls .
Also try a normal reboot if you haven't tried it yet.
Update : you sure you can't make calls ,my marshmallow says no service(unless I haven't turned on cellular data) but I can make calls
.if nothing's working share the site which you got the rom from
I got it from: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/71371/G920IDVS3EPE2_G920IUUB3EPD2_CHO/

Sorry, I didnt understand well, you asked me to flash a baseband (which I did not find), then you edited saying that my baseband is OK. So what do I do?
Would installing twrp, and flashing a costum rom fix it? Or should I download the stock rom from another website?

I was told to post here so:
Hi,
Yesterday I flashed a custom ROM , the rom somehow messed up my IMEI number.
Then i went back to the forum and found out that everyone who flashed the rom got his IMEI messed up and we all got the same IMEI now, i still have calls working but im afraid they will stop working soon, i know what was my original IMEI, can anyone help us please. (Heres the rom i flashed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034130)
I saw that the devs on samsung captivate managed to restore their imeis, there should be a way to do that to the nexus s.
Same Problem with my phone...
same here
I'm restore my backup .. and nothing change
and imei still changed :S
Same here, i think the phone is as good as network dead.
Hi all, I also was unfortunate to flash this rom resulting in the changed imei issue. My Phone was displaying emergency calls only and i was unable to connect to data services. I used Odin to flash back to stock GRH 78 ticking the phone efs clear box . After rebooting i checked my imei number but it still displays the wrong number. However my phone now connects to the network and i can make and recieve calls and data is enabled. Not a full fix and i am not sure for how long it will work but definately an improvement on the very expensive paperweight i had. Hopefully a full fix will come soon.
Trying that~!
UPDATE :
Nope Odin again didn't help.
Isn't it kinda stupid to discuss this in not only one or two but four threads? I get it, you guys want a fix and I feel with you, but having four threads will only cause confusion.
How about you all agree on one and work together to fix it instead of dividing your efforts?

Can you explain what version of Odin you used - Odin3 v1.8 ??
What rom did you flash stock GRH78 ??
Did you use a .pit file and if yes which one ??
What boxes were ticked and de-ticked in Odin ??
Cheers mate
Hi,
I used odin 3v1.8 and the stock GRH 78 rom. I opened odin and loaded the
bootloader, Pda and scs files and ticked the phone efs clear box ,this was the only box i manually ticked all other boxes were left in their default state. i did not have a pit. file. Previous to using odin I had just unlocked my bootloader as it was locked. Odin won't work with bootloader locked all atempts to access download mode were met with a unlock bootloader screen.
After flashing I checked my emei no. but was disappointed to find no change. I then checked for system updates and clicked on the update which started to download. It then suddenly dawned on me that i had not linked my phone to my router and that data was enabled. I cancelled the Gingerbread update and went into notifications and saw my network instead of the previous Emergency Calls Only. A quick phone call verified that my phone was now connecting to the network. I then connected to wifi and installed the update.
I am still stuck with the wrong emei but can now connect to the network and
have restored my favourite rom from a nandroid. The only issue i now have is the
wrong emei but for now my phone functions perfectly

Y'all could try to look in the forums of the various Samsung Galaxy S variants, AFAIK there are ways to restore your IMEI on this kind of Samsung phone, maybe they apply to the Nexus S as well.
Guys, need some help here.
I´m noob, After try some custom Roms, scripts, kernels, etc, I lost my IMEI. Device is working fine, but can make emergency calls.
Try many things to recover it, i flash a froyo stock rom, GB stock, try diferent programs and read a lot here in XDA.
Cant find EFS folder, even using Root Browser.
I didn´t know that was need to back up the EFS folder. I only had CWR backups, and even this not works.
Maybe there something especific for Galaxy Fit?
Thanks for any help!

Ahhh this is something that even I was perplexed with...
A lot of people have reported this already, but we haven't made headway in this area...
In samsung phones, IMEI is either in efs or in csc, but none of us have had a closer look at this...
Hopefully, we'll be able to have ways to backup imei in the future...(no promises, though)
I hope too, for now I'm trying many ways to recover my IMEI, nothing works...

Can you be a bit detailed?
Maybe list the steps.
This would help a lot of people.
Well, sorry for my bad english, will try to explain step-by-step: i instaled the app (EFS Professional) in my notebook, conect my device via USB, debuggin, ADB too.
Open the app on computer, select Qualcom.
Click on Qualcom NV Tools, a new box will apear.
Click Connect.
First i try Imei Repair box, insert manally the IMEI number and click Write IMEI,doesn´t work (and i don´t know if to digit IMEI number was neccessary, but just in case)
Close this box, go back to initial box and click NV Restore. The fone will reboot and it´s done. IMEI original number was restored.
I don´t know if maybe just clicking NV Restore as first step will do all the job, maybe. But I was "exploring" the options and thats works for me.
I hope it be helpfull

Hello, I had sent you a message to try and help as much as I could but you opened a thread so I'll help you on here.
First. Double check all twrp folders using a file Explorer. Some roms when flashed through twrp automatically back up your efs partition.
Second. If the folders are blank then we'll proceed to try other methods of fixing your imei.
I assume since you went from having a blank imei to that weird number you tried one of the methods you found through Google.
There are ways to manually reenter your imei if the methods found on Google fail. Follow the instruction in the site below (I highly suggest using the terminal emulator method) and report back here. Your imei can be found on your Sim card or the bigger card your Sim came in.
Flash with stock 5.1.1 ROM via odin.

This right here.
I have cleaned this thread, and I don't want to see any posts about IMEI modifying or anything illegal here.
You can try stock flashing, rebuilding an EFS partition somehow (probably impossible) or repair shop, but any talk of anything illegal and the moderators will take action on your account.
Thanks.
Have you tried searching for a Galaxy s6 efs repair script?
If nothing has worked you definitely need to go with a repair shop. Either a third party repair or try to warranty replace your phone through Samsung. If you go the Samsung route Odin flash 100% stock firmware then send it in to them and see what they say

Hello dear users,
I`m facing a very big problem with my g955f. For a while i had 7.0 on my device but yesterday i decided i should update to 8.0. I flashed the latest 8.0 stock (BL, AP, CP, CSC) from sammobile and everything worked great. Problem appeared when i tried to install supersu and it got into a bootloop. I flashed again 8.0, this time without BL because i've got the error "SW REV. CHECK FAIN(BOOTLOADER) DEVICE: 2, BINARY: 1". After device booted up there was NO IMEI...s'o i think something happened with efs partition. Then i tried a fix from another thread and now i get "efs mount failed (invalid argument) after i flash a rom and the phone restarts".
I know i know, i should have made a backup...
The question is, does anybody know how to solve this problem ? Maybe from where to get an efs dump (even with IMEI 000....)
sorry, my english may not be so good
Thank you !

Oreo comes with U2 version of bootloader. This means you can`t use combination files that have been made for 7.0 bootloader (U1). Yesterday i found a combination file for U2 version. I'll share the link with you but right now i'm at work and i don`t find that link. When i'll be at home(8hours) i'll post the link here(i saved it in bookmarks). Chances for recovering your imei are very high i think. Until then please don't make something stupid with your phone like i did....

I think that is the file i'm saying (check if it has "U2" in its name). Hope this helps you. I can't give you an exact method to see if efs is corrupted or deleted.....like you i'm a newbie with all this architecture of android...

But when i try to flash stock in odyn https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/development/rom-galaxy-s8-t3749444 this version, it says device 2 binarie 1 error. So flash without check BL. There`s nothing you can do. Your only option is to stay with 8.0. You can't downgrade the bootloader from U2 or U1 because U2 security policies seems to not be ok with this ). I left my device at a service twenty minutes ago to reflash an efs dump from another 955f....hope they will make it.... anyway, congrats for reviving your device

This message means that your actual bootloader version is newer than the one you want to flash and because security policies you can`t flash an older version. You'll have to flash latest stock 8.0 (bl,ap,cp,csc).

Hi XDA members,
I recently received a "Lava Z3" phone from University for free. But, the device is now managed by my University and the device shows "This device is not private" and "This device belongs to your organization".
I want to get rid of this thing and solve this privacy nightmare.
What I've tried so far:
- Tried deleting the "SOTI MobiControl" app with ADB Tools (Didn't work)
- Tried opening the recovery mode with ADB tools and the wiping the data (didn't work) the device wiped and then booted with the same controlled OS.
Please help. How can I solve this issue? Can flashing a new ROM help in this case? or any other suggestion please let me know.
Do you think it could be assigned to the IMEI number or something?

Well you *can* change the IMEI number with root but make sure it's not illegal in your country first

Leave IMEI number. But I want to get rid of this Organization thing. How to remove it? Flashing ROM can remove it or not?

Ok. So, for flashing ROM I need the following right:
- MediaTek Driver
- SPF Tool
- Official Firmware
- ADB maybe
Can you share some guide that can help me flashing the official ROM in my "Lava Z3". I have already downloaded the Official ROM.
