[Q] Lost IMEI - Samsung Galaxy Fit GT 5670

Guys, need some help here.
I´m noob, After try some custom Roms, scripts, kernels, etc, I lost my IMEI. Device is working fine, but can make emergency calls.
Try many things to recover it, i flash a froyo stock rom, GB stock, try diferent programs and read a lot here in XDA.
Cant find EFS folder, even using Root Browser.
I didn´t know that was need to back up the EFS folder. I only had CWR backups, and even this not works.
Maybe there something especific for Galaxy Fit?
Thanks for any help!

Try install stock ROM with 4 files via ODIN, after CWM via ODIN and after custom ROM which you want.

Tried exactly this using a stock froyo rom, doesn´t work...

Are you tried Gingerbread with 4 files?

No, i tried Gingerbread (one package) and Froyo (4 files). Is there any diference?

I do not know. After this what I suggested, custom ROMs should work normally.

I will try again, where i can find GB in 4 files?
thanks!

Here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
In Search write s5670, and download ROM for your location.

Ahhh this is something that even I was perplexed with...
A lot of people have reported this already, but we haven't made headway in this area...
In samsung phones, IMEI is either in efs or in csc, but none of us have had a closer look at this...
Hopefully, we'll be able to have ways to backup imei in the future...(no promises, though)

I hope too, for now I'm trying many ways to recover my IMEI, nothing works...

Updating: I use EFS Pro V2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308546 , and finaly have my IMEI back. I post it cause coud be helpful for others.

Can you be a bit detailed?
Maybe list the steps.
This would help a lot of people.

Well, sorry for my bad english, will try to explain step-by-step: i instaled the app (EFS Professional) in my notebook, conect my device via USB, debuggin, ADB too.
Open the app on computer, select Qualcom.
Click on Qualcom NV Tools, a new box will apear.
Click Connect.
First i try Imei Repair box, insert manally the IMEI number and click Write IMEI,doesn´t work (and i don´t know if to digit IMEI number was neccessary, but just in case)
Close this box, go back to initial box and click NV Restore. The fone will reboot and it´s done. IMEI original number was restored.
I don´t know if maybe just clicking NV Restore as first step will do all the job, maybe. But I was "exploring" the options and thats works for me.
I hope it be helpfull

Have a couple of thanks, coz this was helpful.
I'll ask around if somebody has lost their imei and we'll try to cross check this, make it noob proof and then have it added to my guide to help the poor souls who might need this in the future

[Q] Recovering/Replacing the IMEI number

So I just received a replacement phone via warranty from T-Mobile.
I have upgraded to Gingerbread 2.3.6 and am rooted.
I just realized now that the IMEI number in Android is 00000000.
I'm not sure if it was like this before I started tinkering with it or if it happen as a result of the root/upgrade.
Anyways, I have the sticker that gives me the IMEI number under the battery, I just need to know if/how I can get this back into my phone. I've read something involving a HEX editor? But I don't know what or how.
Any advice and links would be greatly appreciated.
A little more information. I originally noticed that the IMEI was set at 0000000 because I tried to install Swype beta and it says cannot install on an android emulator. Further googling of this lead me to realize that swype wasn't recognizing my phone as a legit android OS because the IMEI number was missing...so yea. This is where I am now.

Did you make any backups before upgrading to Gingerbread 2.3.6?
ADD: Here is a quote off another thread with this problem:
I got my IMEI back. I had my nv_data.bin.md5 and nv_data.bin backed up when I unlocked my phone after I got the new one from Samsung. I just coppied them the the efs folder and my IMEI is back."
Hope it helps! And hope you have a back up... maybe even from your other phone?? Or before you upgraded the phone you have.

So I have the nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 files from my old phone and from my new phone. Sorry, I wasn't thinking enough to make a backup of these files when I upgraded to Gingerbread using Samsung Kies.
So now, with these two sets of files. Do I want to take the old (and good) files from my old phone and replace the files on my new phone. Won't that transfer the old phone's IMEI though?

First - Is your phone working?
Second - Have you tried a factory reset if your phone is working?
Third - Try a factory reset and reflash a stock rom.
Fourth - If you phone is not working give it a shot and let us know
Yes the phone is working fine. Just with the IMEI missing, I can't get Swype beta to install (I'm assuming that is the problem)(That the only problem I've found so far). Would a factory reset restore the bin files and IMEI number then?

What I have read is a factory reset or reflashing a ROM (or both if all else fails) should restore your IMEI. I have also read flashing the original ROM that came on the phone has worked. You may try that if the factory reset does not restore it.
Since your phone is working don't copy the files over from your other phone
Do let us know your progress.
How do I obtain the original rom, is it posted here in the forum?

You need a custom kernal to flash from CWM. That is why you are getting that error. Let me look for an odin flash back to froyo stock for you.
On a side note - I have read taking your battery out for 10 mins has worked for some. Since your phone is working you may try that while we continue to look for a fix.
Sucks that this kind of problem would happen from following these instructions. I figure it would all automated and such...

I say before going back to froyo try raver's ROM-ODIN-2.3.6-Gingerbread Offical Maybe a stock reflash will work. I have read a thousand ways that have work for different people now. You have done a few. Try this as it is easier than going back to froyo for now. Let your battery charge first.
Maybe kies just f-ed up your imei. And where are the big dog's when you need them? bhundven/FBis251?
Did you just root? Or did you use an app to unlock your phone as well?

For those who have no baseband and null Imei on their i997...

Im not sure were to put this so called tutorial so mods feel free to move it to were it belongs if its not supposed to be here. I was having a big issue with my Samsung i997 thats was showing no baseband on settings, No imei null/null and of course didnt have any signal. I started a couple threads about things related to that. No luck, until a member called Truckerglenn pointed me to a efs .tar file he had made that fixed his phone.
So before i start, credit for the efs file goes to Truckerglenn i had nothing to do with that. Then, i want to make this clear, This worked on my i997, it doesnt mean it could work on other phones but for some reason i think it will. I messed up mine on purpose a couple times after i solve it just to see if it was a real solution or just luck. It worked every single time like a charm. With that said, i got to make clear i didnt have a copy of my original efs file. I have deleted the efs file a couple times also. So i think none of you could mess a phone worst than i did, and i still managed to bring it back to life using this method.... So lets talk about what i did:
First download Truckerglenns efs .tar file located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1438113
In my case i used the infuse unbrick ODIN file so i dont know if it works with any other firmware or not.
Open the ODIN file located on the infuse unbrick files and click efs clear, yes i know it sounds very risky and people have made clear that is not recommended but hey, you cant mess up your phone worst than you already have so. Anyways, put the infuse ODIN files were they belong, pit, pda and phone. Then here comes the tricky part, i used the Truckerglenn file in the csc box to flash it with the unbrick files.
Click start and the phone will flash the stock Froyo for the i997, wait until the flashing ends. Then when the phone reboots into recovery before hitting reboot go to wipe data/factory reset and click it. Then you can hit reboot phone and if youre lucky enough you will have your signal, restored imei number and baseband version.
Like i said this worked for me and i cant asure you it will work for you. But after all those weeks i spent dealing with this without success and having deleted efs many times and messing the phone that much, i didnt have anything to lose. Also thank Truckerglenn for his efs if this work on your phone, after all im just giving you an idea on how i made it work on mine but i didnt create a file or anything i just flashed it the way i just told you. Good luck guys and keep up the good work!
this happens to me as well, but flashing an efs didn't help me. any other ideas?
Step by step??

So, I am having same problem as u were. One thing that I want to make sure is do i clear efs and then flash ?? or just click the box on the efs clear and put everything and flash it??
So here is first option - You check on the clear efs box and then click "start". After it's finished, put other files and click "start" button again.
Here is second option - You check on the clear efs box then put all files and click "start" button and done.
which one is correct way to do this process??

Ok, my phone got fixed by AT&T. But it wasn't software problem. My radio chipset was burnt. I checked and when AT&T saw that, they just replaced my phone to new one. For free. Pretty happy now. Thanks for help tho
Thanks!
OMFG...I bricked my Infuse a while back and I thought all hope was lost. I have bought a Note since then but I wanted to sell it and wait for the Note2 while I could still get a pretty penny for it.
This worked like a champ.
I basically followed your instructions using the Unbrick package here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27286083#post27286083
I also checked the EFS clear checkbox. I didn't have to factory reset from recovery either. It just rebooted and I popped in my SIM and it worked!
So I haven't gotten to the stage where I do not have signal... but do plan on moving my infuse from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1. Through this process, it has been noted that you could lose efs. So before I tried to install the rom, I backed up my efs through root explorer. Within this app, all I did was copy my whole efs file and pasted it to my SD card. After this, should my efs be fully backed up? And if I were to install jb and WERE to lose signal, how would I go about restoring it? My efs is on my internal storage..
Thanks

@TokyoLee
It would be best if you informed us of the upgrade path you took.
Slim ROMs (I am assuming you are trying to flash a JB 4.2.2) are known to cause loss of IMEI if flashed directly from ICS. Best solution would be to flash a CM10 and then a CM10.1 before flashing SlimBean. I have followed this path and have had no problems although I have gone on to Rootbox 4.2.2.
scott.hart.bti's Unofficial CM10.1 post has instructions for the proper upgrade path, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28842232&postcount=1
andros11's "[Guide] How to Flash Jellybean" here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878458
is an essential and important read to avoid any IMEI snafus.
Also, and this important since almost every JB ROM thread mentions it at one point or another: REMOVE your external micro-SD card from the device before flashing a JB ROM.
Hope this helps.

You may have to start fresh from GB [or Froyo]. That would be the best recommendation.
qkster's posts are valuable in how to get back to GB. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081

Unless you have your EFS backed up which you can flash via ODIN or Heimdall it is impossible to get tour IMEI back.
Best is to go all the way back to GB.

Do not even think about doing such a silly thing. This is an Infuse specific efs. You cannot flash it to the I-9000 or I-9100, for example. The partitions are different on different Samsung phones, they are not necessarily interchangeable.
Unless there are clear instructions available, you could end up with a very expensive brick.

Help, deleted nv_data.bin

I was helping a friend to unlock his phone, and I accidentally delete nv_data.bin and dont have a backup. I know the original imei, is therea way to regenerate the imei? If I dont have backup. Please if somebody know i need help
Try one clicking back to stock
ok, i will download in my house, but, i was reading that one clicking dont touch the efs partition, and that file was there
Was the phone on gingerbread or ICS/JB? If it wasn't on gingerbread (Assuming it was a rom not based on CM7) you'll be able to restore the files by using a one click
the rom is in 2.2.1. Thats ok? I download T959VUVKJ6_STOCK-UVKJ6-One-Click.
So, if I use it, this will restore the nv_data.bin? I ask before doing anything because i have fear of make the this worse

No it won't. lol The OP is already on a BML partition structure. That trick only works if you loose it switching over to MTD.
Sorry OP your IMEI is gone and short of some fancy hex editing their is no way to get it back. Your phone will still work with zeros but data might be an issue. If you wanna try the hex edit way look in the dev thread for OLD unlock threads. Good luck.
So, i will have issue with 3g data or something like that?
I see a way that i can input the imei with a z3x box i think, and in my city there is someone with that box, that can work?
i search and only found: ;
REF] How to unlock SGS 4G or Vibrant 4G (IMEI Problems fixed)[Updated 11-19-11]

I search in the dev forum. Do you remember something more about that post to search? :/

IMEI=0 restore with QPST, provided a QCN is available?

First things first, I'm sorry for opening another thread on this but I feel the other ones weren't headed exactly in the correct direction.
A little background:
I was trying to downgrade my XT1541 to Lollipop since 6.0 was really bad and I got frustrated and used
Code:
fastboot erase all
The result was I erased my IMEI and I haven't been able to connect to a network carrier since. The problem can be solved by re-writing my IMEI but that's the difficult part.
What I gathered so far is I can use QPST, backup QCN, go into HEX and change IMEI there, then restore the QCN back to my device. The problem is I can't locate the IMEI in my QCN since my IMEI is now simply 0.
So in all, could someone make a backup of THEIR QCN and send it to me? I would flash it to my XT1541, locate the IMEI (since now I would know what I'm looking for), then change it back to my own.
Does that sound like something that could work? Can anyone help?
UPDATE1: Noone sent me their QCN however I did try to restore the one I backup up (which still has an IMEI=0). QPST Software Download reports
Received an invalid command from the phone.

So getting another QCN won't help as it seems that I can't write the IMEI (qcn) back to the device...
There are only two possibilities of fixing this... a 50/50 chance that a full factory flash will restore it (don't know how, but it does sometimes). If that doesn't work, then you need to send it to Moto for repair.

Well, unfortunately that leaves option 2... or turn it into a media play and buy a new phone.
Funny how `fastboot erase all` causes such a pain for some and not others... but once your IMEI is gone, there isn't much you can do. Moto kinda screwed the pooch on that one.
Hello, did u try Xposed IMEI changer? Maybe that will be a native fix for this issue.
Try this >http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/info-moto-g-imei0-t2925970/post61725547#post61725547

Hey, couldn't get any results with the xposed module
Just one bump
One last effort, not a bump. If anyone can direct me to commercial services for repairing the IMEI i'd be very greatful. Official Motorola Service wont repair it for me btw.
Thanks
try this guys

SM-G920I No service.

Hi, I had my S6 on android 5.0.2, carrier version, rooted and unlocked (with a imei which corresponded to a nokia after unlocking). The phone worked fine, I had service, I could make calls, etc... I decided to flash stock unbranded marshmallow on it, so I downloaded the firmware from sammobile and flashed it. Everything went right except I didnt have service (No service). I went desperate, I flashed modems, read thousands of threads, but nothing. Any suggestions?

When you flash your device you may loss your Imei number so you won't be getting service .but looks like you haven't lost it (provided you found them in the the settings option and not from the box which you got your phone from)
Look for a baseband fix for your phone in the site you got your ROM.
PS edit your previous post and delete your imei no.
I was just asking if it was there .
Ok, thanks alot. What would be a baseband fix?

Just a zip file of the baseband version that needs to flashed through recovery so the phone can get service
Edit: Your baseband version is OK as well.
Share the link where you got the rom pls .
Also try a normal reboot if you haven't tried it yet.
Update : you sure you can't make calls ,my marshmallow says no service(unless I haven't turned on cellular data) but I can make calls
.if nothing's working share the site which you got the rom from
I got it from: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/71371/G920IDVS3EPE2_G920IUUB3EPD2_CHO/
Thanks alot for the help, keep it up.

Ive tried rebooting and Ive checked if moibile data is turned on, but no luck.
Sorry, I didnt understand well, you asked me to flash a baseband (which I did not find), then you edited saying that my baseband is OK. So what do I do?
Would installing twrp, and flashing a costum rom fix it? Or should I download the stock rom from another website?

You have both imei and baseband okay so it's the ROMs fault.
Try another one

Hey, I researched alot and apparently there is no such thing to flash an IMEI. I now I can restore EFS folder, but I have no backup at all. I will continue to try everything, as my case is very frustrating and strange....

Yes, it is only for mtk devices. I will try and flash xtrestolite, then root and flash xposed framework and finally install the imei changer from xposed.
