[EFS corruptes] S8+ G955F - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hello dear users,
I`m facing a very big problem with my g955f. For a while i had 7.0 on my device but yesterday i decided i should update to 8.0. I flashed the latest 8.0 stock (BL, AP, CP, CSC) from sammobile and everything worked great. Problem appeared when i tried to install supersu and it got into a bootloop. I flashed again 8.0, this time without BL because i've got the error "SW REV. CHECK FAIN(BOOTLOADER) DEVICE: 2, BINARY: 1". After device booted up there was NO IMEI...s'o i think something happened with efs partition. Then i tried a fix from another thread and now i get "efs mount failed (invalid argument) after i flash a rom and the phone restarts".
I know i know, i should have made a backup...
The question is, does anybody know how to solve this problem ? Maybe from where to get an efs dump (even with IMEI 000....)
sorry, my english may not be so good
Thank you !

there is only way to get imei back is Z3X box if someone on mobile shop have it otherwise you need to send it to service centre with your recipe & mobile box.

i finally found a combination file for U2 bootloader version but no success. Someone more skilled than me told me that efs partition seems to be effectively deleted. I'll take the phone to a service today and hope this will be solved. Thank you
LE: can you explain what this pit file is for ? i don`t want to brick the phone more than it already is

No.... still not fixed because efs partition is deleted. What is your phone actual problem ?null imei or it doesn't even boot up ?

I have this stock S8+ Official Oreo CRAP Firmware 14.02.2018, but i can´t find the combination files for it.
It does boot up, but it doesn´t give signal and when i look up in settings for the imei it says unkwon. How can i be shure that the efs partition is deleted?

Oreo comes with U2 version of bootloader. This means you can`t use combination files that have been made for 7.0 bootloader (U1). Yesterday i found a combination file for U2 version. I'll share the link with you but right now i'm at work and i don`t find that link. When i'll be at home(8hours) i'll post the link here(i saved it in bookmarks). Chances for recovering your imei are very high i think. Until then please don't make something stupid with your phone like i did....
LE: if the phone is booting up then i think your efs is just corrupted

Yeah....i`m desperate too....i messed up an expensive and a high end phone.....but that's it....we're learning from our own mistakes ). I think that is the file i'm saying (check if it has "U2" in its name). Download it, flash it with odin (put the file in AP), wait until the flashing process is done and that "gears screen" is on, and wait. After that flash the stock 8.0 oreo and the imei should be back. Hope this helps you. I can't give you an exact method to see if efs is corrupted or deleted.....like you i'm a newbie with all this architecture of android...

I used the combination file and show me the imei so i think it was just corrupted. But when i try to flash stock in odyn https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/development/rom-galaxy-s8-t3749444 this version, it says device 2 binarie 1 error. So flash without check BL. But then the device doesnt boot and gets stuck in first screen. What can i do?

There`s nothing you can do. Your only option is to stay with 8.0. You can't downgrade the bootloader from U2 or U1 because U2 security policies seems to not be ok with this ). I left my device at a service twenty minutes ago to reflash an efs dump from another 955f....hope they will make it.... anyway, congrats for reviving your device

This message means that your actual bootloader version is newer than the one you want to flash and because security policies you can`t flash an older version. You'll have to flash latest stock 8.0 (bl,ap,cp,csc).

Hello, I had sent you a message to try and help as much as I could but you opened a thread so I'll help you on here.
First. Double check all twrp folders using a file Explorer. Some roms when flashed through twrp automatically back up your efs partition.
Second. If the folders are blank then we'll proceed to try other methods of fixing your imei.
I assume since you went from having a blank imei to that weird number you tried one of the methods you found through Google.
There are ways to manually reenter your imei if the methods found on Google fail. Follow the instruction in the site below (I highly suggest using the terminal emulator method) and report back here. Your imei can be found on your Sim card or the bigger card your Sim came in.
Flash with stock 5.1.1 ROM via odin.

This right here.
I have cleaned this thread, and I don't want to see any posts about IMEI modifying or anything illegal here.
You can try stock flashing, rebuilding an EFS partition somehow (probably impossible) or repair shop, but any talk of anything illegal and the moderators will take action on your account.
Thanks.
Have you tried searching for a Galaxy s6 efs repair script?
If nothing has worked you definitely need to go with a repair shop. Either a third party repair or try to warranty replace your phone through Samsung. If you go the Samsung route Odin flash 100% stock firmware then send it in to them and see what they say
yeh i boght new s6 edge lolllllll bbut i i learned to back up

Hi, I had my S6 on android 5.0.2, carrier version, rooted and unlocked (with a imei which corresponded to a nokia after unlocking). The phone worked fine, I had service, I could make calls, etc... I decided to flash stock unbranded marshmallow on it, so I downloaded the firmware from sammobile and flashed it. Everything went right except I didnt have service (No service). I went desperate, I flashed modems, read thousands of threads, but nothing. Any suggestions?

When you flash your device you may loss your Imei number so you won't be getting service .but looks like you haven't lost it (provided you found them in the the settings option and not from the box which you got your phone from)
Look for a baseband fix for your phone in the site you got your ROM.
PS edit your previous post and delete your imei no.
I was just asking if it was there .
Ok, thanks alot. What would be a baseband fix?

Just a zip file of the baseband version that needs to flashed through recovery so the phone can get service
Edit: Your baseband version is OK as well.
Share the link where you got the rom pls .
Also try a normal reboot if you haven't tried it yet.
Update : you sure you can't make calls ,my marshmallow says no service(unless I haven't turned on cellular data) but I can make calls
.if nothing's working share the site which you got the rom from

Sorry, I didnt understand well, you asked me to flash a baseband (which I did not find), then you edited saying that my baseband is OK. So what do I do?
Would installing twrp, and flashing a costum rom fix it? Or should I download the stock rom from another website?

Stock Bootloader

Does anyone know where I can get just the stock bootloader image to flash via TWRP?
Long story short I F'd up my bootloader and now Odin will not flash a stock BL file do to a version mismatch and to make matters worse I can't find a way to restore to stock baseband so my network isn't working. If someone can share a backup that'd be super
EDIT: Forgot to specify I need it from a TMobile variant (J700T) for firmware APK6 or APK3 (Odin doesn't seem to want to flash the stock BL from my Odin ROMs perhaps because there is a version mismatch in the phone?)

download latest stock rom at sammy..
Already tried. Looks like I am officially a victim of a partial brick (Odin wont flash BL because it thinks I'm downgrading and I have no Baseband/network) I'll try and see what I can do through TWRP since I can still flash that through Download mode. I made no backups myself but would restoring another TWRP backup solve it perhaps?

No dice my dude. However, I did find something else
Turns out when I check the bootloader version it reads J700T1UVU3AQC3. Sure enough there was a baseband update and security update a few days ago and my device must've installed it while I was asleep. This would explain why my baseband is broken AND why Odin doesn't want me to flash the APK6 Bootloader.
So there's good news and bad news. The good news is there is hope but the bad news is I am currently at the mercy of whenever someone decides to upload this firmware on the internet (if anyone does that is)

You are lucky because you at least have a functioning bootloader and a working TWRP. You are unlucky because AQC3 firmware is not available publicly yet. In any case, bootloader cannot be flashed in TWRP as far as I know. Your only option is to get your missing ACQ3 partitions from someone else's back up. IF you have messed up your EFS partition though you are out of luck.
So exactly what partitions do you need? I may be able to give you those partitions if I have a personal backup of those from the past. Right now I have modified so many things that a current copy of my partitions will probably do you more harm than good.

As far as I know I just need a main system.img backup
Edit; to specify, if I was flashing with Odin it would be what I would put in the AP slot
The phone in its current state is extremely slow and buggy. My intuition tells me that the older Android version does NOT like the new fiirmware (The bootloader is also where the firmware/device config info is stored IIRC)

Well lucky me Ive got a similar situation though I reflashed with a 3-part HOME file from sammobile to unroot/unTWRP, but did so not realizing the darn BL wasnt included. Lucky for me my build versions matched, so Odin flashed flawlessly, the device boots as if it were brand new, stock recovery and all, everything functions/boots as it should, splash, factory setup, TMobile network works fine etc - only problem is both SafetyNet tests fail, so Google wont let me use use Android Pay and every other payment app that hooks into their API shuts me out. I also noticed a lightning-fast error right before going into the bootloader if you boot from the stock recovery (its so fast I need to capture the log to see what it is).
Any suggestions on where to find a BL to go with my J700T & assuming I find one, any nuances I should be aware of when flashing so as to avoid a potential brick situation?
FYI I flashed with the below from sammobile (and yes I was already at AQF1).

The bootloader is always included with the firmware and is most certainly included with the firmware you posted.
Safetynet probably fails because you need to factory reset.

Honor 8 stolen and flashed

Hello, guys i need your help here. My 2 week old Honor 8 was stolen by thief. Police retrieved the phone and I got it back. Problem is that the thief did something to the phone and tried to remove/replace IMEI and ROM so he wouldnt be tracked down by police, which obviously didnt help him. Now i got my phone back and there is writing " This phone is unlocked and cannot be trusted" everytime i reboot it, but it loads at least. I tried to flash the phone with Rollback and stock firmware from hihonor.com website but without luck. Flashing stops at 5% saying version mismatch or something like that.
2 more cents:
1. About phone shows 2 different IMEIs
2. Version number shows: FRD-C900B120
I would like my phone back to stock firmware without root or anything, i dont need that.
Can anyone help me out here? Thanks a lot!
Hi, i had your problem, stuck at 5% and here (in another thread) some people helped me, so i'm telling you what i did hoping i can help you too.
Update process:
First of all be sure to download the firmware updated (Marshmallow) http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=92125&version=360419&siteCode=it-h
After the download is finished:
1. Make a backup, then format your External SD card from your PC (FAT32 should be fine)
1. Unzip (just extract) the update.zip and you should have "UPDATE.APP". Transfer this file to the SD card into the dload folder (if folder is not present, create it yourself). Pay attention, when i did this i haven't any file on the formatted sd card, so do this before transfer anything else
2. In the dialer app, enter the combination *#*#2846579#*#* and select "Software Upgrade" to make the updating process from SD start
3. If everything goes fine but the phone does not boot (bootloop on Honor logo), enter to recovery and wipe data and cache
I think that there is no need to use the rollback package as you weren't on a new software, so just download this firmware and you should be fine flashing it.
P.S The firmware i linked is for model FRD-L09, as i don't know where to find yours. If your phone is European version, then you can download and try to install it. After all, when the phone boots you can update to Nougat via OTA to B380 firmware if you want. Let me know if you succede
It did not help unfortunately. I downloaded the zip, extracted and moved dload with .app in it to formated SD card. dialed the number, selected the package, phone rebooted to twrp and nothing happend. so I turned it off and tried (+ - power button) install, it started installing but after 5% it says "Incompatibility with current version. Please download the correct package." and reboot system now. Same outcome as with rollbackers before
dunno whats my correct version tbh, "About phone" shows under Model: FRD and under Version: FRD-C900B120. thats all i got. btw I live in czech rep.

Okay, shouldn't have rebooted to twrp.. But if manually update fails maybe it's the case to try with the correct firmware. If you can find the firmware wich begins with FRD-L09C40 (wich belongs to Czech Republic) you can retry the update process. I searched around the web but found anything (maybe because i'm in italy, idk) but you can try to search in another thread here on xda. I saw a list of original firmware if i'm not wrong. You can try see there or ask them if they can provide a link for the correct firmware you need. Sorry if i can't help anymore

I can help bud . But before plz answer few of my questions.so that i can get a clear view if ur issue
If bootloader is unlocked, there should be no problem with flashing it via adb manually or TWRP.
If this fails, there is always a way how to fix it, with DC-Phoenix.

Baseband and IMEI info of J7 2016 (SM-J710FN) accidentally wiped

Hi guys,
I happened to accidentally wipe the system partition on my J7 2016 (SM-J710FN) through TWRP during a botched rooting attempt. After noticing that the phone didn't boot up subsequently, I managed to flash a stock ROM via ODIN as given in the below thread.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...7-2016-stock-rom-build-date-7th-t3515491/amp/
Now the phone boots up fine, but does not connect to any cellular network as the Baseband and IMEI information shows up as 'Null' in the 'About Device'. And I did not have a backup of the 'efs' folder too.
I took the phone to a Samsung Service center, but the service guy said that since the Baseband information is lost there is no other option other than replacing the motherboard. It kind of sounded lame as this is evidently just a software issue, and the device works perfectly in every other way.
I attempted the 'Emergency firmware install' option via Smart Switch, but the tool does not recognize my device even after the manual entry of Model Name and Serial Number.
Is there some other way I could try to get this issue fixed? Any help or suggestion would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Could try faking the IMEI number through some apps, if you still have the box. Otherwise I think it's a lost cause since IMEI number is the device "identity Card number/SSN" as to so to speak.

Thanks. I still 'know' the IMEI numbers of the device (there are two, being a dual SIM phone) as it is there in the box and under the back cover. Do you mean to say there is no way to flash that info back to the device? Maybe something like a template EFS file to which the info can be added through some tool? Just wondering..

The hard part is to find another working efs for this phone which I could possibly use as template for other tools that can alter the IMEI.. I did a bit of googling, but it didn't throw up results other than some password protected zips.
Will do a bit of hunting. Thanks..

sir ,plz help , nast night i have installed custom rom "port Note 7 " on my galaxy j7 2016 SM-J710fn , and now its not recognizing SIM Card and Baseband number and IEMI number are also null , Plzzz help as soon as posiible
I Have Same Problem. But After Flashing 4 File Firmware By Sidrose01 For J710FN With Odin. Thats problem Solved. I Use Odin Because Smart Switch Doesnt Work. Sorry for my bad English. But your CSC will be Changed.
If ALL you have done is wipe the SYSTEM partition I don't see how the EFS could be lost/corrupted.
My advice would be to first attempt downgrading the current firmware version( IE Android 7 to 6) via ODIN, this in its self can fix many erroneous issues.
Then, Irrespective of whether the device boots or not afterwards, update to the latest firmware. The essential part is that the device auto boots to recovery after flashing with Odin and completes the update.
Or as posted above find the factory 4 file firmware and flash that. Be aware this will likely wipe your device.
