Found this over in the sprint s7 forums. I'm not quite sure what to make of it

This would be quite the birthday suprise!

Interesting that they took files for the LG G5 and used them in the S7. Would be interesting to see what happened and if it can be replicated and used across carriers.
This is already being discussed here:

There is no need for a separate thread for it here. Thread closed.

Does this site include the first XDA model not just latest versions?
Hi,
This is my first time to this site. As I look through the General forum I noticed that most comments refer to Models 1 + 11. I have just purchased from my daughter her XDA that she purchased over 2 years ago, she is upgrading, I just wanted to know if this site will be informative to me seeing I have an old model.
I understand completly that new models come on stream and forums like this will have a change in focus, I was just wondering if older units like my XDA are still a discussion point.
Welcome in the forum.....
I think if you had taken a closer look at the threads you would have seen, that there are many postings concerning the "good old XDA". Also there are many usefull information in the wiki.
Out in the world, there are many useres, that are still using this device.
Sure, the topics about the XDA I are not so frequently than for the newer models (i think that is normal), but if you have any questions i'm sure you get an answer....
Regards
Stefan
Thanks very much Stefan,
I did look through the threads, my mistake was I thought XDA 1 was a newer model then my plain older XDA.
I will now have much enjoyment looking for information on this forum and no doubt, pose more questions as I become familar with my XDA.
It seems to me that any thread pertaining to another phone has been removed by the mods lately. What's up with this? I understand that the thread may not be about the infuse, so I understand your logic for moving them. However, what about those of us that may want to discuss new phone options with fellow Infuse owners that we have been in a community with for some time now?
To me, it seems as if you're controlling what a new group of friends can talk about, and basically being an overly harsh dictator. I respect the opinion of my fellow Infusers, so why can't I talk about new phones with them in a place where I know it will be mostly Infuse owners? It's the GENERAL section for a reason. You're supposed to post any random discussion you want there, so long as it is not offensive and is appropriate for all.
Specifically, I'm referring to the threads about the galaxy note. I was enjoying reading the opinions of all of you, as I will probably be upgrading to it this summer.
And don't say that I can go read in the AT&T note section, because that is not what I am talking about. In the AT&T note section, you get the opinions of all sorts of people coming from different devices, whereas a thread here will only gather the opinions of Infuse owners. I want to be able to talk about new phones without the thread being deleted or moved after a few days.
/endrant
Sorry for the lengthy response, I just think the mods should be a bit more lenient.
There should be one thread for all of it. People can post about it without clogging up the forum.

I have been holding my tongue...
BUT I'm kinda getting there:
HERE IS WHERE YOU WOULD WANT TO POST IT:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255388
All non-Infuse phone goes there...
skyrot, all-trix, galax Not, etc...you get the idea
Sorry, forgot about that thread as its a sticky and I do most of my reading on my phone, where stickies are under a different tab. My bad. Although I still think it wouldn't be that terrible to have a thread here and there regarding specific new phones. Whoops.

np..i don't have any issue usually, but as new threads get created with only a few posts, the older but good thread with lots of material gets pushed back.
We end up with such a large clutter that is harder to follow.
bronco is actually pretty tolerant...I've on seen one thread got locked in the past several months.
Try Dolphin HD with desktop toggle add-on for full web page browsing from phone.
If you want to discuss about a new phone, if that alreday has a dedicated forum, then you can talk about it there.
If not you can post in General-General.
Certainly you cant post in the Infuse forum.
Thread closed
P.S. You can also use the Infuse Comparison thread which is stickied on this forum
First of all, there's been a hell of a lot of threads being made for a while now asking 'What phone to get' or 'S3 vs One X' for example and now there's more and more being made daily and there's just too many now.
That's where the idea for this threads comes into place. Any questions you wanna ask about comparing phones before you buy them, ask them in here.
There's 2 main good points about this -
1. Someone else in here could've already asked about phones that you wanted to compare. If so, you can read the answer and that way you've found out exactly what you wanted without typing a single thing or having to wait for a reply. And...
2. It will stop what will inevitably be more posts all regarding the same thing, from littering the forum. And any that are posted outside of this thread can be directed straight to here where their answer could already be awaiting them.
Simple as that!

Agreed, But really, Popular and repetitive comparisons like the S3 vs ONE X is easily googleable now, If not websites, Other android forums might have discussed that before.
But yeah, Both the popular and unpopular phone comparisons need only one thread, Even the tablet ones, They are multiplying now.
Also, In that way, Someone with a similar phone comparison (popular or not) as yours will be easier to find and you will be able to choose carefully without turning the general forums into a "What phone to buy" forums.
Oh and BTW, Can you make one for the "My phone is bricked/laggy/(insert problem here)" threads?
I just used the S3 vs One X as an example really, but yeah I totally agree that google has it covered and youtube is full of videos for the high end phones against each other.
The aim is to make this easier for people anyway so hopefully it works. I PMd orb3000 just after I made this to see if he'd consider making it a sticky. Not sure if he will or not, but that'll then make it even easier to be honest.
And I already think there's a thread for that. I could be wrong but I think I saw one a while back. I'll have a look around and then if not, I'll make one either later today or tomorrow. It all depends on how busy I am

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but the link to the Accessories subforum seems to be broken. As I understand it, the Accessories subforum is shared among all the S4 variants, but the link from the AT&T S4 area is dead.
Edit: Appears to be broken for the TMobile and Sprint areas, too.
I noticed that too. In the meantime, here is the link to the general S4 accessories thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2165
Seems to be working properly now.
Broken again. Anyone know what causes this?
It works fine from the app, but I never see when there are new posts.
Hopefully this gets fixed. I can open it on the mobile app but on my pc it says it does not exist

Thank you for the report. I have passed it on to the admin.
They weren't only used to discuss availability. Very bad over moderating, tut tut. Please unlock uk thread or direct me to uk specific thread which discusses new colour and 32gb/64gb availability, carrier specific questions, where to find good uk deals, uk firmware, etc......all in one place.

I agree, found it quite useful for local information,
I understand some of the reasoning behind it but even if they were becoming too big to find information, someone could just post their region specific question in that thread and one of the regular visitors would help out. Saves another new thread being started. Plus they are a great way to track regional changes and progress of the life of the gs4 in a specific country, if you has time to read start to finish.

This isn't North Korea, I am sure the moderators can accept constructive, opinions and the requests from users of this forum. This isn't trolling, this is a genuine sentiment which is going to be shared by other users. They were useful threads for those who followed them.

Then say that, not rhetoric about being banned. In response to clutter, far better have region specific threads than new ones each time one provider gets updated and another doesn't, or three threads excitedly taking about a new gs4 model released in a certain country. It does the exact opposite of clutter

if cluttering is the issue then it can be put into a rolling sticky inside a single thread isnt it?
Its advantages overcome the disadvantages to be frank, say for example
*if i were about to ask a question related to free sview covers samsung is providing in india where should i ask for the progress ,status and opinions?
* if a service provider in india has issues with s4 , say its temporarily down where can i ask for the opinion, status etc?
* If there is a new user coming into the thread and if he/she can see their country thread they feel like home and they can ask for questions or atleast move a bit social.
More can be said, but i dont want to make it biggy , I still beleive the moderation commitee will have fair hearing once again. But whatever the final verdict, its upto them to decide
+1
For bala (and continuing further )...
I used to go directly to Indian Offic.....thread to know the updates, accessories, availability, roms, and other regional info ...but now after closing these ...i am feeling stranded.....
...
Please suggest me if i want to know/discuss about the exact price of galaxy s4 in India/Australia/Etc ..then where should i go......if i am planing to visit UK THEN wouldn UK specfic thread be more useful to clear doubts... ...or in such conditions should i open new topic for this???...no way
I think ...after this action...there is more chance of new threads to be opened for small querries..every second..this may cause more cluttering which will need more thread cleaning process...
I Politely request Moderators to consider little bit attention about my opinion...
Thanks XDA & @LL
Please re open the Brazilian Thread.... We change a lot of useful information there!
Thanks!

This!! This alone made the region specific threads worth it. Please bring them back
You only have to look at the numbers of replies in the Ireland/UK topic to understand it was heavily used where a number of members would come to find out any info on their area phones.
I personally found it of great value and am very surprised it was closed without any other topic of it's kind being brought into use....
The trouble is by closing this one single topic it will in turn now create many, many other topics of greater problematic use.
I've owned all the Samsung models (S1, S2, S3, S3 4g and now S4) and country specific threads have been around for all of them.
I followed the Aussie threads for all those models. It will be a pain now searching for all Aussie related info. One thread will now become a hundred.
Why this decision now?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda premium
Moderator should understand what needed and not.dont just simply closing thread that lot of views and comment.its mean the threat is usefull.check out other threat like s2.note.note2...they also having country specific threat and stil not closing by their moderator.i m not complaining bout moderator decision but this time i think this is not a right decision...with specific country threat..new comer and new bie easily asking for other member from their country coz its more friendly to them.others thing..every country have their own internet network provider, not same so in country specific threat they can discuss about it.hope moderator thinking again bout their decision.ty
Soooooo, any chance of unlocking the UK/IRE thread...
+1 on this this is where we discuss region specific releases. Philippines thread has a healthy topic
