I think my power button assassinated itself - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So heres the situation. I woke up, and tried to press the power button once, which i do to get it to show the lock screen, that didnt work so I hit the home button and didnt think anything of it. Eventually it occured to me thats not normal, so I tried holding the power button to see if the reboot options would pop up, and again nothing. So without thinking I took the battery out, put it back in, and as Im sure you can guess, nothing. The phone is rooted and has TeamWin recovery, but I did that the same day the Marshmallow update was available, so its been working fine for weeks, then all of the sudden this happens. Im 100% positive its nothing I did rooting the phone weeks ago, I just wanted to eliminate that as a possibility.
So as it stands, my phone is off, adb wont recognize it while its off, so rebooting into recovery that way isnt a option, getting into recovery pressing the hard keys isnt a option. Anyone else had this issue, or know of a quick fix solution? Im open to anything, that doesnt require taking the phone apart. Because I dont want to, because I hate going there, but Ill take the phone to sprint if I have to.
Also, when its plugged in it shows the charging screen.
In short, its not bricked, its not stuck in a bootloop, basically, is there a way to turn it on, aside from the power button?
Any and all help is appreciated, and thanks in advance.

I actually just got it to turn back on, then I was hit with a constant "Unfortunately NetworkSystemProvider has stopped" and its 4am, I dont feel like messing with this, so I did a factory reset, and if this doesnt work Im either going to throw it off a overpass, or just turn it back off and wait to take it to sprint, because if I had a hard time getting it to turn on Im sure they will to.

Help! Bricked Phone Warranty Dilemma

I just received a new Fuze from AT&T as a warranty replacement (my old one was draining the battery quickly, overheating, etc.). I reverted the old one back to stock and that is ready to be sent back.
Now the issue: I opened up the new one. Powered on, seemed okay at the time (now I remember that I bumped it and it randomly reset at the carrier splash screen, didn't think much of it then, but clearly a problem). It seemed to work okay, so I flashed HardSPL and put on a custom ROM. Continued to work okay. Then I turned it off.
This morning, I go to turn it on, find it will not power on at all. Then I try again, after pulling the battery, and it starts booting, but then I jiggle it a little and it shuts off. Try it again, it freezes at the carrier screen. Basically it won't turn on.
Now I put the battery in the Fuze I'm sending back (which at least boots) and find that overnight, with the phone off, the battery dropped from 95% to less than 5%!
Basically I think this phone is a dud, but I need to get it back to stock SPL and ROM to send it back! I'm currently re-charging the battery in the old Fuze in the hopes I can get the new one to boot.
Any thoughts or solutions?
Still no luck in booting up even with a full battery...anyone have any ideas??
try this...it worked for me when i had a similar problem...!
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and CENTER buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
3. Continue pressing the RESET, VOLUME DOWN and CENTER buttons until you see this message on the screen:
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press ?VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.

Yeah thanks I would definitely try to do a hard reset...problem is the phone won't turn on
Any other thoughts? I am thinking I will just have to send the phone back to AT&T as is in the hopes that it really is bricked completely and that they won't turn it on to find a custom ROM and HardSPL.
That sounds like a bad idea; if they find out you hacked the new one, they're gonna be pissed that you sent in the previous phone for exchange.
So, you can't get it into bootloader, to at least flash back to the stock rom? You said it wouldn't boot up, but how about plugging it in and seeing if you can get in bootloader? That's what I'd do. You actually don't need the battery once you're in bootloader, if you have it plugged into a wall charger or connected to a PC through a usb cable.
Basically, the phone stays dark what ever I do. I can't get into the bootloader or anything, the screen and all lights won't come on, period. The battery works fine in other phones as well. Very puzzling.
Any other ideas? I suppose if they do manage to get the phone to power on, I can just play dumb about HardSPL...I've even read about people getting phonse with HardSPL back from the warranty department. The phone is probably bricked anyway from what I can see, so I guess if they manage to spark it to life, I will just have to play dumb...

broken fuze. powers on as soon as battery is popped in

So I've had my fuze a little over a year now, no major issues. Used mostly energyroms, but about December time I switched back to a simple non-bloated stock rom for the stability.
Anyway today at work I was texting, and I press the power button to put the phone in standby. And the screen remains on and usable. I tried again and it would not go into standby (power button physically feels normal, it does not feel loose or abnormal.) So i let it sit for a few minutes, then i look at it and a message poped up asking if i wanted to turn the phone off (like as if i was holding the power button)so i press no, then it comes up again a few seconds later and aagain and again. So I soft reset the phone.
The phone resets but takes a LOT longer at the att/htc splashscreen, then it hangs at the htc screen and does not make it to the wimo screen, but instead an error screen saying:
"The device is unable to boot because you have either turned off the device incorrectly or tried to install an applicationa from an untrusted source, press SEND to reset your device or press any other button to cancel..."
I think it went through the hard reset this time because when it restarted it asked to calibrate the screen and install stuff. it resets again sometime after that, still takes forever at the splash screen and comes back up to the error, only this time no matter what button i press it wont go away and boot into wimo. It seems like none of my buttons work (they wont light up now) when i slide out the keyboard, it is not lit up like normally.
And heres the kicker, my only way to turn on/off the phone is to take out/put in the battery. As soon as I pop the battery back in the fuze turns on. Is my phone toast? Ive tried to hard reset and the phone does not reach the bootloader, it goes straight to the splash screen. Same with trying to reflash it from my comp, raphealwrapper cannot find my phone.
I've only recently encountered the exact same problem on my Touch Pro, but stock ROM and everything. As far as I can tell, our power buttons are busted and probably need to be serviced. One of the contacts must be stuck in the 'on' position somewhere inside :\ As a temporary fix, I've been using AEButton Plus and remapped double tap end call key to turn the screen off, and removing the stylus to turn it on.

[Q] Possible dead digitizer/can't get into recovery question.

Ok, so I bought this phone as a project, it will boot fine to the lock screen, but I think the digitizer is jacked, but I want to test other things just to make sure. For instance I try to go into recovery mode by holding vol down and power and get nothing. So i dont know if the button is bad or I am not doing something right. Or if fast boot could be the cause, I cant get to menu to see if it is on. Also is there a way to get debugging on without using the phone? I'm guessing no, but I could do alot more to the phone if it was on.
Anyways. Any advice, or suggestions?
pull the battery, put it back, then try to get into recovery, and w/o usb debug or root, its very difficult to do anything with it in its current state
EDIT* also, its the button is having problems, the nice thing is that you can actually access the button itself under the volume rocker, to see if its an actual button hardware issue
Nope, battery pull didn't work, still booted normally. blah.
check my last post edited with something that might help

[Q] Strange boot loop problem

So, yesterday my phone kept turning itself off for no apparent reason and then it would start vibrating constantly. I would take the battery out and restart the phone as normal and it would work. Later on, it shut off completely and did the same thing it had done for most of the day so I tried restarting it again like I had been doing. However, this time it would load the loading screen and get no further than it saying the model number before it turned off again and started vibrating. Before this time the phone would at least stay on for 10-15 minutes. I kept trying what I had been doing all day with no luck of it getting any further than the loading screen. If I put the battery in, it would immediately start up and then turn itself off and start vibrating again which it shouldn't do because I'd need to turn the phone on for it to load up. I looked up what the problem might be and people were saying to reboot the phone. I managed to get the recovery screen up for about 3 seconds before it turned off and started vibrating with a black screen again. Now the phone doesn't boot up/turn on at all if the battery is in. However if the battery is out and the phone is plugged into charge, then it would start up with the same problem as earlier. I would like to get to recovery to be able to either hard reset or flash a new rom, however, the phone will not boot into recovery, instead it will just turn it'self off again. The phone is not in usb debugging mode so I am unable to flash the phone via a third party software. Any help would be much appreciated as the phone is currently completely unusable.
Thank you.
check your power button ,it might be damaged...!!
No it's definitely not that because I could use it for get into recovery (even though it was for just a second, not long enough to be able to do anything). I have no idea what the problem could be.

that is the idea, if the power button is blocked you can enter recovery just for a sex then it reboots,
when you put the battery on it turns on?
Yes, it used to turn on straight away when the battery was inserted but this isn't happening now. Probably time for a new phone.

if it isnt happening now its because you have no more battery left
you can fix it to a service, its not so expensive

I have the same problem right now after a failed flash. So I would suppose it is not a stuck power button... I can't even get to recovery by the way....

I could get to download mode (for about 6 seconds)
After a lot of trying I suppose it must be the power button, as you suggested. I even succeded in installing a stock rom (by pressing the power button in the download mode every seconds or two)...
Seems strange though. I suppose pressing the power button to get into the download and recovery mode gets it stuck....
Thanks for your suggestion though. I will bring the smartphone to a store tomorrow and see if they can get it fixed.

Nexus 5 Random Shutdown Frequent Problem

I don't understand how exactly can I explain the situation, but I'll be as specific as I can. Please try to understand and help me from this.
My Nexus 5 is on Marshmallow without any roots etc ever. Now, the problem goes like this:
Suppose I press power button once, then screen should turn on/off once. Now this which happens normally in any phone happens in mine for first few times, then it starts like if I press power button once to turn screen off, it goes from off and turns back on, I again press power button, again from on it goes off and back on, this keeps on happening until I try my luck for it to off, but then sometimes it happens like after so much pressing it eventually show me "power off" option on screen(which generally should open if I hold the power button). Now once I encounter this "power off", no matter what I do, I power off/not, it'll automatically turn off, and this happened atleast 10+ times till date. So finally whenever I encounter "power off" option, which sometimes comes when I try to turn screen on or sometimes off, but never I hold the power button, but finally even If I don't click on power off, it'll power off.
And that isn't yet strange till there, normally now "Google" shows on screen when device is powered on, but here after encountering "power off" it shows "Google" and turns off.
This problem has happened to me from maybe starting a week ago, atfirst I ruled it as maybe hardware problem, cause after 3 factory resets, nothing changed, but then when I did wipe system cache and data format from recovery screen, everything got resolved. But this too remained for 2-3 days, again same problem started after it, I this time cleared system cache from recovery, and this time too it helped somewhat. so I can atleast say that it isn't a hardware power button problem, but something which I don't know what, always creating problems from software.
Now this problem has developed itself, because now the power button is kinda working okay, but now the "power off" comes on screen automatically, I can say once-twice a day, and as explained 'n' times before, once I encounter this, mobile turns off.
So everytime I've to turn phone on after this, and pray that it doesn't repeat, but it's yet going on, and i'm so pissed off by this phone, I regret buying this, honestly as till now mentioned I tried whatever I could/I knew, but nothing, nothing's helping me.
Also the problem intensifies when phone is on charge & "power off" is encountered, then the phone goes to turning off and "Google" is shown, then it shows "Google" then turns off, then it shows "Google" then turns off, and this loop keeps on going.
Finally I hope i'm as clear as possible, if someone can please help, I can guarantee any kind of format will just resolve the problem for few days only, and hardware power button problem i'm not feeling it as formats basically help it great, but anyway if I'm going wrong somewhere/need proper explanation somewhere then please tell but resolve this asap.
Phone's from India and it's been 1 year since bought and atleast a month from the Marshmallow OTA update and this problem started randomly without me doing anything I guess from a week ago.
I think you should take a look at that power button.
It's your battery. I was having the same problem with my nexus, I replaced the battery and the reboots are gone.
Mine did this exact thing a couple of weeks ago. really annoying and couldn't put my finger on it, until i got so annoyed that when it came up with the power off notification I repeatedly pressed the power button for maybe 20 times, this resolved it for a few days, though to be honest, the best advice that someone posted, was that a sharp shock to the side of the phone that the button is on resolved it, been over a week now and it's been fine.
I put it down to the case i had on it, harbouring small dirt that was getting into the button housing and interfering.
try it out, failing that, perhaps a new power button, i did have one in my ebay basket, though i don't need to go down that route, not for the foreseeable anyway.
**edit
incidentally, i went down the software route too wiping caches etc. no avail.
