Moto G3 not detected in Windows 10. Plz help. - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I have upgraded the Moto G3 to marshmallow and PC to Windows 10. After this upgradation Moto G3 is not detected in Windows 10. I have checked the device manager and nothing is changing in the device manager. The mobile is getting charged but no MTP connection. I have tried most of the solutions like
1. Enable usb debugging and change usb config to MTP from charging after installing the motorola drivers.
2. Tried installing the motorola device manager and did the same as above but no use.
Plz help

Does your phone have 6.0 or 6.0.1?
Mine has 6.0.1 and I use file transfer mode when connected to my PC. It is detected.
If your phone has 6.0 then upgrade to 6.0.1

tnx for replying. My phone is having 6.0.1 and I have tried changing the usb debugging settings from charging only to media transfer protocol.
Usually when phone is connected it shows the hardware changes in device manager but when I connect my phone its not showing any hardware changes.
Also when I tried connecting the same phone to linux it directly takes my phone as usb drive.

Sorry for late reply. When your phone is connected to Windows, swipe down from notification panel ( status bar ). It would be showing "USB for charging". Tap on it and press "File transfer mode". You're ready to go.
By the way did you face this problem while you had Windows 8/7?(if you upgraded for free) or did the computer come with Windows 10 itself(is it a new computer)?
---------- Post added at 05:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:19 PM ----------
As you said in the question, after marshmallow update this is one change seen. It isn't directly read as USB drive.

But every time I connect the phone to my PC, I just change to File Transfer Mode and go ahead. It is detected. What happens is when it is in charging mode, phone is detected but internal storage and SD card is not shown. But after changing to file transfer mode both are shown and then I transfer required files.
Moreover nothing has to be even installed.

it seems there is no problem in your case, charging and MTP are two different things.
When MTP mode is on, you will have MTP and Charging working together, but
you will not have MTP while only Charging mode is enabled.

Phone isn't reconized in Windows Vista

Hello members,
I recently bought a new PC, running on Windows Vista Ultimate. I had to install Microsoft Mobile Device Center for syncronization (instead of Active Sync for Windows XP), so I did.
As far as I know I installed it the way it should be.
So here come's the problem;
I wanted to flash a new rom, so I connected my device to my pc to establish a connection with Microsoft Mobile Device Center,
but the phone isn't even reconized in Vista, therefore I can't flash a new rom on the device.
I tried al my USB ports and did a hard reset on the device, but that didn't work.
The phone is a MDA Vario 4, with MRom 1.63. I never had problems on XP with synchronizing so im pretty sure the Rom is not the problem, but I don't know what is..
How can I fix this so I can flash my device using WMDC in Vista

i think this might help you, im assuming that your phone is recognized as a when you want to sync it but when you want to flash a rom it will not find the phone, if this is the case here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291723, hope it helps
try unchecking that checkbox for enable quick ....
Depending on whether it is if you want to flash or not...
If it is just to sync, I had this problem too and the solution was to delete the profile in ActiveSync on the phone and then reconnect. (I think - it was a while ago).
As per the first pic in xhypnotik's post, try unchecking the box for "enable faster data sync". If this doesn't work, try deleting the profile on the phone...
I had a similar issue. See if running Windows Update on Vista works. For some reason the driver for Device Center didn't automatically download for me. It was on of the updates under Windows Update though.
Before I start, thx all for your reply's, your help is much appreciated.

Vista still not reconizing. It just shows the unknown device message when I connect it to USB, so there isn't anything I can do.
I made some screenshots of the message I get when I connect my device;
When I click on the message, I get the following screen;
When I go to my computer, there isn't any device I can click on..
Try plugging in some other devices instead of the phone into your USB port and see if that message appears. You might need to update your drivers or install it.

Did that too. I tried an external HD storage device, an MP3 player, and my printer, which is USB connected. Al devices are working properly, except the phone. When I connect it, and want to install drivers for it, it simply just says, that there aren't any available.
I fixed the problem.
Very weird, I accidently tried another USB cable and that did the trick. It installed all the drivers automatically and now the device is reconized, so problem is solved.
Thanks everyone for your input!

[Q] Nexus S USB Mount Problems [Q]

My phone can only charge but not be recognized on USB, when I plug it into my computer it says it's unrecognizable from my computer (like an error pops up). It wasn't like this before I installed the new update to the cygeonmod rom. I tried going back to stock gingerbread, other roms. Like at least 4 roms i've tried I just don't know what to do now. Any Ideas?
Are you trying to access the storage or use development tools (like adb) via USB?
Also, have you tried with a different USB port (preferably one on the motherboard of your computer)?

I'm just trying to access the storage, I've tried different usb ports but it just keeps saying USB Device Not Recognized.
I'm assuming you're using Windows... can you go under Device Manager and see if there is one with an exclamation mark (!) when your device is plugged in?

Had the same problem and it ended up being a faulty USB cable. Pretty unlikely, but try a different cable and see if that helps.

I've tried different usb cables with different computers and with different usb slots in each computer. Nothing works. Is it possible that my nexus s is missing a file allowing me to connect usb to my computer? Because every computer I use it says USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED so I was just wondering if that's the case.

It sounds like your problem can be isolated to the phone, but I'm not familiar with working in a Windows environment. I'd try booting into (the phone's) Recovery and seeing if you can mount the drive from there. Might help you isolate whether or not your issue is related to a particular volume.

I tried that going into the phone's recovery mode and plugging in the usb cord and it still says the same thing. When I go into further like clicking the message it gives me a Code 43 warning on my computer. I also tried hard factory resetting my phone when I was on the phone with Samsung and that didn't work either. Everything was fine before I flashed Cygenmod rom on my phone everything was perfect.

Nexus S Woes
I had the exact same story and errors as tdog1o1, and the ONLY fix I found useful was on an mp3 forum.
" I had code 43 problems with my usb ports until I found a thread on MSI's website. My front panel usb ports connected to a 9 pin usb header on the motherboard. Only 8 pins are needed. If pin 9 has a black ground wire then remove it. I didnt give this fix much hope but it fixed my problems! "
After many hours of driver installs, front usb port changes, and a dozen reboots, this actually worked!
I merely used the USB at the back of the computer and Voila!
Looks Wind Slash nailed it at the beginning of this thread.
Nexus S
I am having the exact problem, have found a solution.

Try to switch USB port in PC, reinstall your android (complete wipe of system, then reinstall it). Or maybe your windows is causing this problem.
Cable or port issue. USB port on phone, computer or cable.

On the first day when I connected the phone to my PC everything was fine, I installed Xperia Companion and was able to access the internal storage/memory card. I tried on another PC and again all seemed fine. It is just on my main PC, there is a driver error (according to Windows device manager). Updating fails, uninstalling and plugging the device back in also doesn't work.
I think I have found the cause, https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...soft-wpd/9f900903-50d8-4935-939d-5dbf8d6bd1d0
Now I need to figure out a way to remove the faulty driver!

You don't need to enable debugging to use MTP
Problem solved!
Problem solved, it is caused by the new driver update (Microsoft – WPD – 2/22/2016 12:00:00 AM – 5.2.5326.4762), it seems to have issue with some devices-specifically Mediatek powered ones. The solution is simple, uninstall the driver update via Windows, if that isn't possible then use system restore, if even that fails (like in my case) then the driver can be manually removed using command prompt, as explained here. Now the device connects fine, just like it used to.
As far as I am aware the update has now been pulled so shouldn't install. I triggered the installation of the update myself after manually checking for updates-that's the last time I'll be doing that. :silly:
Fix
Apparently there's a very simple solution. Same thing happened with me a few days ago, search for " How to Fix MTP! problem in windows 10 " on Youtube uploaded by " Infinity Studio " watch this it solved my problem. (Sorry can't post link as m still a junior member)
