Phone isn't reconized in Windows Vista - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hello members,
I recently bought a new PC, running on Windows Vista Ultimate. I had to install Microsoft Mobile Device Center for syncronization (instead of Active Sync for Windows XP), so I did.
As far as I know I installed it the way it should be.
So here come's the problem;
I wanted to flash a new rom, so I connected my device to my pc to establish a connection with Microsoft Mobile Device Center,
but the phone isn't even reconized in Vista, therefore I can't flash a new rom on the device.
I tried al my USB ports and did a hard reset on the device, but that didn't work.
The phone is a MDA Vario 4, with MRom 1.63. I never had problems on XP with synchronizing so im pretty sure the Rom is not the problem, but I don't know what is..
How can I fix this so I can flash my device using WMDC in Vista

It works great with Window Vista Home Premium 64bit. Is your settings familiar with mines?

i think this might help you, im assuming that your phone is recognized as a when you want to sync it but when you want to flash a rom it will not find the phone, if this is the case here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291723, hope it helps

try unchecking that checkbox for enable quick ....

Depending on whether it is if you want to flash or not...
If it is just to sync, I had this problem too and the solution was to delete the profile in ActiveSync on the phone and then reconnect. (I think - it was a while ago).
As per the first pic in xhypnotik's post, try unchecking the box for "enable faster data sync". If this doesn't work, try deleting the profile on the phone...

I had a similar issue. See if running Windows Update on Vista works. For some reason the driver for Device Center didn't automatically download for me. It was on of the updates under Windows Update though.

Before I start, thx all for your reply's, your help is much appreciated.

Thx for your reply's, but my phone isnt reconized at all. So I can't do anything at all on my computer, no flasing, no synchronizing, I can't even acces the phone's memory card, even if I select the Disk Drive option.
As soon as I connect my phone to my computer Windows Vista just says,
"The usb device is not recognized".

Vista still not reconizing. It just shows the unknown device message when I connect it to USB, so there isn't anything I can do.

I made some screenshots of the message I get when I connect my device;
When I click on the message, I get the following screen;
When I go to my computer, there isn't any device I can click on..

Try plugging in some other devices instead of the phone into your USB port and see if that message appears. You might need to update your drivers or install it.

Did that too. I tried an external HD storage device, an MP3 player, and my printer, which is USB connected. Al devices are working properly, except the phone. When I connect it, and want to install drivers for it, it simply just says, that there aren't any available.

I fixed the problem.
Very weird, I accidently tried another USB cable and that did the trick. It installed all the drivers automatically and now the device is reconized, so problem is solved.
Thanks everyone for your input!

dead bootloader what to do next

I've got a dead bootloader. My device doesn't upgrade thru SD and not with USB. can somebody please help me because i realy don't know what to do. My device is dead for almost 3 weeks now
[edit]
Even my backup on SD doesn't load. And this happend after i downgrade the radio version of the well know greek rom
[/edit]
nobody?
Is there a solution to flash only the bootloader?
I think you need to add some more info, if anyone should have a chance to help. For example what happened when it died - how and why? What happens if you remove the battery cover, replaces it and turns on the device? Text on screen, like USB or Serial? Have you tried uploading ROM from different PCs?
The more info you provide, the more likely it is that someone recognizes your situation from own experience and can provide some help.

You are totaly right.
I have update my frvice with the wrong greek rom and now i have the 15 sec reboot thing.
When I startup my device he ends up the bootloader and the only way to get the device booting to windows is remove the battery cover. But the her reboots again after the 15 seconds.
In the bootloader i tried to load my backup with the SD card but nothing happens. I also tried to load a ROM with MaUpgradeUt_NoID but nothing happens. I only get empty version thing.

If i use the regular MaUpgradeUt and change the file change.bat for the xda3nbftool I get a error "error 201: get device data error".
I also tried to backup my device with the wrong ROM on it, to look at the header but nothing happens (romupdate.exe).
So my conclusion is that my bootloader is dead. Please correct me when i'm wrong but if this is the case how can i correct my bootloader.
When you unplug your Magician from the USB cable, what do you see?
If you see (with the backlight OFF) "Serial v1.00" or similar, thats a WORKING bootloader.
Make sure you have Active Sync DISABLED (right click the taskbar icon, click "Connection Settings..." the uncheck "Available by USB".
You should then plug in the USB cable and it should change to "USB v1.00" or similar.
Your PC may detect the connection as new hardware - that is a good sign that you have Active Sync disabled.
Let the New Hardware Wizard do it's thing, then re-run the upgrade setup and it should work.
If not, you've got BIG problems.
guess I'm in big trouble
The only thing i can do, is trying a different pc without ASync. On the current pc i'm working on, USB in activesync is disabled.
Are there any posibilties to reload (rebuilt, update) Bootloader.
Can somebody please help me.
The bootloader is built in as it's own ROM, and I've never seen a utility that can make it writeable. I doubt you've destroyed your bootloader, but that doesn't help you - sounds like you'll have to bite the bullet, act dumber than you are, and return it to the manufacturer for a repair - and probably pay for the privilege.

But isn't it strange that if you can't destroy it, it doesn't work anymore? And isn't there somebody who had the same problem?
Before you give up, try this:
Try using another USB cable.
I have experimented many times to realise that the upgrading process does require matching with the right cable.
I noticed that in the screenshot you posted, there is no info on what the device will be upgrade to! I could be wrong, but this may well mean that your device is incompatible with the ROM you are trying to upload.
Try downloading another ROM and give it a go. The best thing would be, if you can find one made specifically for your brand, ie Qtek, I-mate or whatever, and DON'T patch it. Just let the original installer do the job...

There isn't a orignal rom fot the dutch T-mobile MDA. And if you use a original installer, it uses ActiveSync. And i can't boot windows because it restarts after 15 seconds so I can't use ActiveSync.
Why can't you use an original ROM updater, if you have the Greek resetting ROM installed? I believe a lot of us has done so without any problems, including me. I don't remember precisely what I did, but it was no problem whatsoever. Most likely I just entered bootloader mode first, to keep the Magician from resetting...

I really tried everything but without any results. I realy don't know why i can't use the original ROM updater.
I have the similar problem, but mine one doesnt even start windows. It always go into the bootloader mode and stays there. I try upgrading it, but it gives me communication errors.
Do this
This is what you do.
Disconnect your JAm from USB
Go from your PC , ACTIVESYNC > FILE > CONNECTION SETTINGS > remove the check mark for ALLOW USB CONNECTION TO THIS DESKTOP COMPUTER
Now connect your JAM to your PC again via USB, this time active sync should not start since you have disabled USB
Now double click on the installer file of the original ROM and you should be good to go
After Reset , enable USB ,
Go from your PC , ACTIVESYNC > FILE > CONNECTION SETTINGS > Put a check mark for ALLOW USB CONNECTION TO THIS DESKTOP COMPUTER
MDA dead
I have tried.... it's not responsing as it should be.

HELP!!! my Uni stucks in bootloader

Hello to all uni gurus and wizards!!
First of all, I've read all wiki before posting this question. Perhaps i"ve missed something but honestly, i did my best.
Now to the problem: I've got QTEK9000. For couple of years I've enjoyed the brilliant ROMS that were developer here by masters . Recently my uni's motherboard went dead, so i find a person (it was not easy) who replaced it. That person flashed my device with original WM5, and it worked perfectly and i've got videocalls also
Well then I decided to re-flash uni with WM6. And there was when problems started. I started with Tomal's 8.71 ROM, but it was unable to detect my Uni at all!!! Tried Tomal's 8.9 - same thing, VNInt's ROM - no good. I've tried MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and it founded uni, but after restart device stacks in bootloader. My bootloader is v.1.01 and is says 'Serial' on screen, even though it is connected through USB cable. That is OK because previously (before MB replacement) it was showing 'Serial' but I was able to flash without any problem.
So now I have my Uni with Bootloader v.1.01 and 'Serial' written on it. I've tried to connect with Mtty utility and with Uni_exitbootloader, but they can not see that USB port is connected to Uni - 'Cannot open USB port'.
Thank you for reading so much letters Any help will be greately appreciated

1. have you check usb cable? perhap your cable brocken. try another usb cable.
2. wish you have the lattest active sync (4.5), try to uninstall it then re-install. restart you pc then try to flashing.
3. try with another pc - or - try first to restore your pc to the date you remember the last date that everything fine when you flashing.
hope one of that will solve your problem ... or we must wait for enlightenment from uni master sifu here

Thank you for reply These are good suggestions. However, I've already tried them - installed AS 4.5 on a different computer, changed cable (though I'm pretty sure that old one is working) and tried to run mtty on that computer. The same thing - computer does not recognises USB device and mtty cannot see USB port
disable AS usb connection as Jonny advised. now connect the usb cable and try to flash a rom. it will make sure that your usb port/cable is working right. wait to finish the flashing, exit RUU.
now disconnect the cable and reconnect. run the mtty tool...
make sure usb cable plugged into computer, not into hub. i didn't need to kill anything for mine to work. reboot pc and try again?

Wow, Gurus are here Now, what i did:
1. I've get a desktop with fresh WindowsXP SP3 installed.
2. Installed AS 4.5 from MS website
3. Disabled USB connections in AS
4. Removed SIM card and SD card from my UNI.
5. Connected my UNI directly to computer with definately working USB cable. Got message "One of USB devices has mulfunctioned........"
6. Tried to flash with Tomal's 8.9 ROM for 64MB. It was unable to see my UNI:
Of course flashing was unsuccessfull
Also MTTY 1.42 utility cannot see USB port
After all this my UNI still stucks in bootloader wth text 'Serial' on the top and 'v1.01' at the bottom
seems your usb port is broken.

USB port on UNI? I will check. However, I doubt it, because when I plug mY UNI in computer Windows detects something on USB port, but cannot identufy it. If USB port were broken, then Windows would be unable to detect anything.
I guess, there's no solution for my case . Thanks to all who was trying to help me

[GUIDE] How to change the Sprint banner using CDMA workshop

What to change the Sprint banner to something else?
Well here is how.
This is a rough guide, maybe I'll get ambitious and spruce it up when I have some more time...
Install HTC Sync if you haven't already..
Get it here.
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=933&news_id=631
Gonna need the HTC Diag drivers, least I did... these work fine:
http://rapidshare.com/files/293529424/HTC_Hero_DIAG_Drivers.zip x86 32bit
Here are the /64 bit drivers thanks to techwerkz
http://www.techwerkz.com/evo/HTCDiagDrivers.zip
Mod edit: No linking to warez site or suggesting users to get warez is allowed
Enter DIAG mode, dial ##diag#, let windows install the drivers...most likely it won't find the HTC DIAG drivers, but they are in the link above... get it installed.
Now in CDMA workshop, you really don't want to be effin' with stuff you aren't sure what it is... but we are here to change the banner right? riight so don't be changing anything else and you'll be a-ok.
Select your port, hit connect, hit read... goto the NAM tab...hit Read ...change the Banner from "Sprint" to whatever..hit "Write".... then you can reboot the phone and its done.
To find your port...

Select your port, hit connect then hit read. ( picture shows "Disconnect" only because I already pushed connect... )
Goto the NAM tab, hit read, change the banner, hit write. Reboot your phone
Enjoy!
Mods if there is a problem with me posting the link to isohunt, I'll gladly remove it.
Thank you so much love these tips

The com port you are using is not the one the phone is using. Go into Device manager and see what port it is running on. The demo version will not allow above port 6 so you may have to change the port.

Didn't work for me. Windows 7 64 bit.
Edit: It does work on Windows 7 x64. The 64 bit drivers will not be recognized or installed by the Windows 7 automatically. You must force the installation of the drivers by choosing the "Browse" option then "Let Me Pick" option then the "Have Disk" option.
Thanks, that's awesome. I got it working no problem, just followed your instructions
I was sad though, it only lets you put up 12 characters I was going to put up Mistersquirrle but I had to truncate it to Mistrsquirrl. Still great though, thanks
good stuff guys
I did NOT have to install HTC Sync... maybe because I already have the driver installed for adb to work.
But yeah, just had to install the DIAG driver and it worked (Win7 x32)

Nvidia NvFlash APX Driver
Unlike a lot of Android phones out there the Nvidia Tegra2 chipset require additional drivers in Windows to support low level flashing.
Install Instructions for Nvidia NvFlash APX Windows Driver
(Windows x86 and x64 O/S Drivers):
****If you are running VmWare kill it.****
Remove the battery.
Plug in your USB cable to your PC.
Hold Vol Up/Down keeping them held down.
Plug in the USB cable to your phone. (Keep the buttons held until Windows detects a new APX device.)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error icon.
Right click on the APX device.
Select 'Update driver software'.
Select 'Browse my computer...'.
Select 'Let me pick...'.
Select 'Have disk'.
Browse to directory you extracted the *driver* software to: \"Nvidia APX Windows Drivers".
Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC (User Account Control)).
Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'.
If not, uninstall the driver, reboot, rinse and repeat.

It's supposed to upgrade the firmware if an upgrade is available. Right now the latest firmware is V10f. So it won't do anything coz your phone has that firmware already. So as the OP said, this is for FUTURE upgrades.

System.Security.PermissionSet
The Zone of the assembly that failed was:
Intranet
Config: XP inside VirtualBox w/ APX having a USB Device Filter
Cause: This was caused by my trying to run it from a fileshare.
Fix: when I copied the files to the machine's desktop it worked as expected
Thanks for your hard work, cheers,
-G
P.S. should also mention:
You should see it send a bunch of files to the device and the phone screen should say "S/W Upgrade - Please wait while upgrading...". Once the files are sent and the program is finished running in the command window, you CAN just pull the USB cord or be safe and just wait a few extra minutes, however it will still say "upgrading."

as I was certainly worried that it hadn't worked (this is quoted from the manual install method)

Do you see the big red letters saying kill VmWare? The virtual VM driver for the USB device in the native O/S does not play nice with APX Driver in the host machine.
Is there a special driver needed for adb?

What does the original post say? It's all in there. Please read it.
If we already did this with your recovery tool are the drivers supposed to stick? Or are the drivers only recognized when pulling the battery and holding vol up/down? Reason I ask because I flashed the recovery with your tool and was just double checking this thread and noticed that under USB devices I no longer had the nividia drivers in there (this is with phone battery not pulled just plugged in to usb debugging). Thanks
dope i need this
worked like a charm
so I installed the drivers, and when I plug in the phone the drivers are installed; however, I still can't access my SD card. Any advice?

Moto G3 not detected in Windows 10. Plz help.

Hi guys,
I have upgraded the Moto G3 to marshmallow and PC to Windows 10. After this upgradation Moto G3 is not detected in Windows 10. I have checked the device manager and nothing is changing in the device manager. The mobile is getting charged but no MTP connection. I have tried most of the solutions like
1. Enable usb debugging and change usb config to MTP from charging after installing the motorola drivers.
2. Tried installing the motorola device manager and did the same as above but no use.
Plz help
Does your phone have 6.0 or 6.0.1?
Mine has 6.0.1 and I use file transfer mode when connected to my PC. It is detected.
If your phone has 6.0 then upgrade to 6.0.1
tnx for replying. My phone is having 6.0.1 and I have tried changing the usb debugging settings from charging only to media transfer protocol.
Usually when phone is connected it shows the hardware changes in device manager but when I connect my phone its not showing any hardware changes.
Also when I tried connecting the same phone to linux it directly takes my phone as usb drive.
Sorry for late reply. When your phone is connected to Windows, swipe down from notification panel ( status bar ). It would be showing "USB for charging". Tap on it and press "File transfer mode". You're ready to go.
By the way did you face this problem while you had Windows 8/7?(if you upgraded for free) or did the computer come with Windows 10 itself(is it a new computer)?

As you said in the question, after marshmallow update this is one change seen. It isn't directly read as USB drive.

But every time I connect the phone to my PC, I just change to File Transfer Mode and go ahead. It is detected. What happens is when it is in charging mode, phone is detected but internal storage and SD card is not shown. But after changing to file transfer mode both are shown and then I transfer required files.
Moreover nothing has to be even installed.

it seems there is no problem in your case, charging and MTP are two different things.
When MTP mode is on, you will have MTP and Charging working together, but
you will not have MTP while only Charging mode is enabled.
