Hi Guys, I'm wondering if Mi4 is still worth it to get today. I have the chance on also getting the Mi4C instead. So I would like to know your experience with it and if you have had the chance to try and compare it to the Mi4C, what would you recommend me to go for.
Mi4 or Mi4C
I wonder if is it a deal breaker to get the Mi4c over the Mi4, taking in count both cameras and the processor. Considering also both with 3 gb ram, and software development such as custom roms and xiaomi official firmware.
Thanks

I did get the mi4 because:
- Better design (in my opinion)
- possibility to install w10
- more roms ( i think)
and in terms of performance and camera they are almost equal.
Mi4 should have better camera, F1.8 aperture size.
I am going to buy a new smartphone and the 2 alternatives are Mi4 3gb no LTE (my operator uses mainly 800mhz lte) and Redmi Note 3 Pro 3gb. Prices are $160 for Mi4 and $216 for Redmi. I don´t like phablet but the newer hardware of Redmi Note 3 Pro is also interesting... Any advice?
I'm not a pro, so my advice may be wrong, but I believe the Mi4 kernal is open so you can will get more longer term custom ROM support (eg Cyanogenmod) where as the Redmi might have better specs, but the kernel source may never be released and therefor you'll be restricted to whatever version of MIUI Xiaomi choose to releases on the device. I was faced with exactly the same choice and went with the Mi4. Infact I am about to install CM13 on it.

Ah, I was actually thinking of the Redmi Note 2 which hasn't got a kernel release if I'm not mistaken. I would go for the Note 3 in your case. Better specs, and bigger screen is a good thing too.
Not to bump a thread a few days old, but I'd say the Mi 4. I just bought one on sale for $145 or so with shipping. I was torn as well but the hardware is what appeals to me the most. I also like how you can install Windows Phone 10 on it, I might do that for a few days just to reminisce of my WP days.

Hello. Whats up with versions of mi4? There's Mi4 with 2/3gb ram and Mi4c and S version. Which is official version from development thread? I don't wanna brick my next phone
Mi4c, Mi4s, Mi4i are completely different phones, not the same as the original Mi4 (their CPUs are not even 32 bit like the one in Mi4), so you can't use ROMs for these phones. ROMs for Mi4c/s/i are in separate forums, not here.
There are 3 subversions of the original Mi4 - 3G version (described as "Mi4 W" in settings), "Mi4 LTE-CU" and "Mi4 LTE-CT". The amount of RAM doesn't matter. If you have Mi4 3G or LTE-CU variant then you can use almost any ROM for Mi4 or Mi3 (that's right Mi3 is actually a weaker version of Mi4, which is compatible). The only version that doesn't work with other ROMs is Mi4-LTE-CT (a specific LTE version). But in any case you should carefully read the requirements and instructions for each ROM.

Thanks. I changed my mind and i'll buy an Redmi 3 Pro. 3/32GB LTE version should be fine with xda roms? Thank you
Edit: i mean there's only Redmi 3 on xda. The processor is same as used in Redmi 3. The only difference is more ram.
Hello
I was and I am tempted to buy Xiaomi Redmi S2 phone. It has nice specs and in Europe there are more good deals for this phone (from 5% even up to 40% off) than for any other Xiaomi device.
I was about to purchase it but in the last moment I read a comment stating that I should watch out for this device because it’s hardware is 64-bit but the software (OS) is 32-bit.
Can someone tell me is that true?
If YES shall the owner be worried? Does it make additional problems?
I am having a Redmi S2 and yet I have not faced any issues. But, all the specs are just enough for Fortnite mobile except it's 32-bit ROM. Fortnite mobile demands atleast 3GB Ram and a 32-bit is.
Except that everything's fine.?

Can You tell me/us more as for why there will NOT be support for this device after August of 2019?
BTW Redmi S2 is the same device as Redmi Y2. Why? Cause in different regions of the world the name that Xiaomi uses to sell that device is different. The specs stay the same.

Redmi S2/Y2 will have Android Pie update in Q2 2019 but i can not confirm for Android Q update also device will get at least 2 MIUI update (MIUI 11 and 12)
e.g Redmi Note 3 released with MIUI 7 but it got MIUI 8-9-10.2

I like Miui 10 performance but ads sometime makes boring.
And you can play pubg and other "some" games well. You can'y play 64 bit games like Fortnite because OS 32 bit you know and official MIUI 64 bit never come.

Hello! I have been using A2 Lite for about six months now. I liked Mi phones. But I think A2 Lite is not up to mark as per the price charged. Especially, Android One experience. It lacks lots of features as compared to other MI phones in this range running on MIUI.
What are your thoughts on this?

That's the point of this phone. Stock android with no features. That's why you do your research before buying something. You could've bought Redmi 6 Pro which is basically the same device with MIUI rom.

Redmi 5A and Note 4, both have Dt2w, and they both run MIUI.
I bought this phone specifically because it didn't have MIUI on it.
Stock Android, unlockable bootloader. It's the first phone I've had that gets security updates too.
I've had it for a few months now and I still love it.
MIUI suck, give so many features that u might never use.
Those features consume CPU and battery, while stock Android has lesser feature but any feature you want you can just get them from PlayStore.
My last Xiaomi phone (Mi 4i), became super laggy until cannot unlock the screen.
Turn out it was MIUI fault because it became normal again after I flashed it with custom ROM.
From my point of view it's the perfect Android terminal.
I only miss one feature from MIUI : Scheduled turn on and off :crying:

Try flight mode, almost zero consumption. -+1%/night
This phone absolutely lives up to its price point of the $159 I purchased two of them at. Great screen, great battery life, decent processor that can handle mostly everything except high end gaming, metal body, 2 of 3 American LTE bands for T-Mobile, FM radio, IR blaster, security updates monthly with Android One. MIUI is a dumpster fire and if you wanted MIUI you should've bought a Redmi.
It's a great phone.
I'm still wondering why so many people who prefer MIUI over stock android bought the A2 Lite instead of the Redmi 6 Pro which is even cheaper. Personally, I wouldn't even touch a MIUI phone with a pair of pliers.

I flashed a custom rom on mine and have no such problem, actually no complains about the device. It's just hardware, with a proper OS on it (stock is never that) it works really good.
I bought this smartphone right after it was available version 4/64. I can tell is the best smartphone i never had, The best quality/price ratio, Battery last 9 hours sot, now you can install many custom rom, gcam makes photos great.... its fast and the display is great. Im totally satisfaited with this device. If you miss Miui than its you that bought the wrong models phone

Note 7 pro. Better developer support, lots of custom kernals and ROMs(official) always up-to-date. Colour os sucks and they're probably making realme os probably will be just like ****ty colorOS. Don't understand why then can't use stock or stocklike OS. Ram management is trash too. Hardwares don't make everything better if software is trash. And ofcouse they're ruining their own phones with bad updates. Already made a big mistake buying this realme 3 pro. Wanted to return it but return period was of 8days instead of 10(appealed on 9th day) so they did not accept it but redmi note 7 pro was out of stock that time.. bad lunch for me meh.

MIUI OS was the main reason I fell in love with teri and I have made numerous people to opt for redmi over samsung. But I have heard that after update coliurs OS 6 has got improvement over colours OS 5. I am gonna wait for redmi note 8 launch to see if it suits my pocket. Thanks for your valuable feedback.
First I'm a huge redmi fan myself and i still use note 3. I'm can understand your confusion. I'm myself do a lot of research. Anyhow here is my take. Realme 5 pro is in every way of specifications superior to redmi note 7pro, Cant comment on color os though. So you should expect a price drop soon in redmi devices since both are priced exactly same. Another important factor to consider is that i read somewhere that they are sending free devices to some developers so there is a good chance development could see big boost. Redmi note 8 is based on meditek chip and not on the usual snapdragon unlike note 7. I know redmi note 3 didn't see much development around mediatek. And lastly redmi note 7 pro has a notification light which is missing on realme devices. Hope this helps.

Redmi Note 8 have a snapdragon 665, it's the Redmi Note 8 Pro who have a mediatek Helio G90T
As a pure android lover I'd go for Realme 5 Pro. I've never tried Color OS but not even planning to do so. I've spent a year with MiUi on my Redmi Note 4 (mido) and in the past 1.5 years I've tested every Pie based rom on it and I can surely tell it's way better than Miui. I'm sure it'll be the same for me with Color OS. Since the hardware of Realme 5 Pro is way superior compared to Redmi Note 7 Pro (charging, UFS storage, chipset), all it needs a good custom rom/kernel combo and I'll be swift and smooth. But that's my opinion as an android purist. I've followed android since 2.0 and been a fan of stock experience since then.

Hey bro. I bought a Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro, 12gb ram and 256gb rom.
Its running chinese Miui pad software. After removing bloat (Some chinese apps) its absolutely the best ive ever had. Ive been using Xiaomi phones with miui for a while, and never used chinese roms.
But this one, on another level.
1) There are not too many issues i faced. Google play store was even pre-installed! (never had that before)
Its smooth, english works fine, can remove most apps that are chinese, and all runs fine.
Only thing i can think of, is that when using other launchers, like Nova, some animaltions/dualscreen shortcuts work alittle less easy.
But for most, the normal standard launcher (With a smart dock) works fine.
2) since I live in Myanmar,I get them straight from china, so cant say much on places elsewhere, for this version i paid about 450usd. cant match that im afraid.
3) not that i can think of. There is a Xiaoxin lenovo tablet, that has the 870 snapdragon, but again, where would you get it from..
If you have any questions regarding the tablet, let me know, ill do my best in answering!

i just read a guide on unlocking bootloader. it requires a sim card and a data connection to work. and this device doesnt have that. how did you bypass this?
Which guide have you read? It's simple, just use Xiaomi's unlock tool and wait for 7 days.
I appreciate you guys for the advice, I was afraid before but thanks for giving me the advice.
I like the tablet very much. Speed, battery life, feel, quality.
But MIUI is absolute sh*t, especially the chinese version with its preinstalled keyboards and bloatware.
You have to put the GBoard on it ASAP and disable / uninstall a lot of apps.
In the chinese version some messages are not translated and therefore displayed in chinese.
I'm currently waiting for the bootloader to unlock and then install another ROM.

The answer is obvious. Why will there be a ROM specific to a country where the product will never be release?

Obvious for an Indian person living in India
In my case I am just looking for a Rom other than Chinese one
Hi
Bought the Xiaomi Pad 6 (6gb/128gb) Chinese version a week ago via eBay from EU for £317. Great tablet, came with Google play installed and filled it with required apps. Only problem is that some system Chinese apps cannot be uninstalled. Am waiting until a Global rom is available and then I will unlock and root . Don't mind MIUI as have a Xiaomi Redmi note 12.
