Universal unbrick guide:
Terminology - types of bricks:
Soft brick - often occurs in the shape of a bootloop or any other problems with booting such as always getting to recovery or not getting past the carrier logo. This type of a brick, which shows some signs of life, can in most cases be fixed.
Hard brick - As the name implies, your phone can essentially used as a brick and it shows no signs of life. This kind of a brick is rare and in theory should be unfixable. However there are advanced methods of fixing your phones such as JTAG, but they require extra tools and accessories.
The decision:
Is my phone soft or hard bricked?
If you answer yes to all of the questions below you probably have a hard birck:
Test as said in order!
Nothing happenes when you hold or press the power button
You cannot get the screen to even turn on by pressing or holding any combination of buttons on your phone
Nothing happenes if you do the same as about but with your phone plugged into a charger
Nothing happenes when you plug your phone into a computer
When you plug in your phone into a computer it does not recognize it as a phone, storage or any other media device
Nothing happenes when you try all of the above again, but with removing the battery in between steps for 10 seconds and putting it back in again
Nothing happenes when you try all of the above again, but after leaving the phone plugged into a charger for 2 hours
If all of the questions are a "yes", then you either have a broken charging port and and a discharged battery or you have a hard brick.
The unbricking:
There are many methods of unbricking and they are all different to each phone. Here I will list the most common methods that often succeed.
Samsung users skip to 4. method.
1. If you have access to a stock recovery:
Method 1:
1. Shut down / turn off your phone.
2. Boot into Recovery mode – hold down the volume down button and then hold the power button (the button combination is different for every phone. Look yours up on Google)
3. Use volume keys to navigate the menus, and power button to select the menu items (Again, might be different for every phone)
4. Choose “Wipe Cache Partition”.
5. Choose “Wipe Data / Factory Reset” to delete all your settings and apps, using the correct ROM.
6. Reboot your device.
Method 2:
Download the stock rom for your phone. It should be in ".zip" format. Make sure it's the official version
(Find it by Googling something like "[your phone model] stock rom")
Put the file on your phone's external SD card.
Make sure that the rom is for your exact phone model.
4. Select "apply update from external storage"
5. Navigate to the zip file you copied to your phone
6. Install it.
If you get Status Error 7 that means you didn't download an official stock rom.
2. If you have access to a custom recovery:
Method 1:
Try stock recovery method 1
Method 2:
1. Find a stable custom rom for your phone or if you want to download the stock rom
Make sure that the rom is for your exact phone model.
2.. Copy the zip file to the phone's external SD.
3. Install the zip
(If you have a custom recovery you probably know the drill)
3. If you have access to fastboot mode:
First install ADB and fastboot drivers (if you haven't already):
To install it on windows there is a handy tool called the 15 Second ADB installer which will install pretty much everything you need.
On Ubuntu install with:
Code:
sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot
On Fedora:
Code:
sudo dnf install android-tools
On OS X using Homebrew:
Code:
brew install android-platform-tools
Once you have the drivers installed you have to find a recovery image for your phone to install a custom recovery.
You can try one of the popular recoveries such as CWM or TWRP.
You need to get the recoveryNameHere.img file for your phone.
Find it by Googling:
"[your phone model] TWRP recovery"
or
"[your phone model] CWM recovery"
Make sure that the recovery is for your exact phone model.
Now on your phone enter fastboot mode:
Turn your phone off.
You can try different button combinations. For my phone it's holding power and volume down buttons.
Once you're in fastboot mode plug your phone into a computer and open your terminal/cmd.
Type in:
Code:
fastboot devices
You should see a list of devices. There should be only one device ID number.
If you see the ID it's working. If you don't you didn't install the Google USB driver properly (on Windows) and if it says "'fastboot' is not a recognized command" or "No command 'fastboot' found" then you didn't even install your drivers.
If you have problems with installing Google "how to install adb and fastboot drivers"
Now that you know fastboot is working type in:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery C:\Path\To\Recovery.img
Replace "C:\Path\To\Recovery.img" with an actuall path of the recovery file you downloaded.
It should say success.
If it doesn't try to execute:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
This will delete all data you had on your phone (games, game progress, apps...).
Now try
Code:
fastboot flash recovery C:\Path\To\Recovery.img
again.
Once you're done type in:
Code:
fastboot reboot
And your phone should still not work. Now what you have to do it try the custom recovery method above (number 2.)
4. If you have a Samsung device:
Try this tutorial of unbricking with Odin: click here

i cant take out my battery

Go into recovery mode. Choose Wipe cache/delvik. Then reboot. If that doesn't work you're going to have to go in recovery and factory reset

It is the official for g6-l11
2. put the update.app into dload folder on your sd card
3. shut down your phone
4. hold volume+ volume- and power button. When itstart to boot release the power button, and hold both the volumes.

after that you will have everything in place

[GUIDE] Install TWRP on Nubia NX512J Z9Max

This guide explains how to install custom recovery [TWRP] on Nubia NX512J (Z9Max) device.
This uses a simple and handy tool made by [email protected] to install the TWRP as well as stock recovery on nx512j
The tool supports 3 versions of TWRP to be installed and 3 versions of stock recovery from v2.04, v9.20 & v9.21.
This also means that you can switch from TWRP to stock recovery if you want use stock firmware and vice versa.
The emmc_appsboot.mbn for TWRP and Stock recovery has different layouts this why for stock firmware, stock recovery with specific emmc_appsboot.mbn is required.
while for TWRP modified emmc_appsboot.mbn is required. The tool provides both options.
To begin this you will need following:-
1. Windows computer
2. USB Cable
3. of-course NX512J phone
Steps :-
1. First download the following zip from https://yadi.sk/d/ep-d0Lc63Hgnzr or from https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=889764386195916618 maintained by ilya_rat
2. Extract the zip file on your computer wherever you wish
3. Navigate to the extracted folder (Flash_recovery )
4. Run the install_recovery.bat file
5. A window will open showing several options. See the attached picture
6. If you do not have Fast-boot and ADB drivers installed then choose appropriate number and press enter to install the "USB drivers"
7. Power up your phone in fast-boot mode by pressing Power and Volume down button while phone is off until a menu option with nubia logo appears this is fastboot mode
8. A countdown timer can be seen on the fastboot page which restarts the phone after 10 seconds. Press volume up or down key to disable the countdown timer
9. Now connect the phone to PC using USB cable and enter your choice to install the stock recovery or TWRP. For example Choosing 3 option will install " TWRP 3.1.0.0"
10. A message will show that everything is OK if the TWRP is installed. You can reboot the phone to recovery mode from the bootloader menu by navigating using volume keys and using power button to select the option.
now you will greeted with TWRP from here on you can install any custom firmware or root your phone as you wish.
The official version of TWRP can be found at Teamwin website https://twrp.me/devices/nubianx512j.html
Remember:- If you plan to use stock firmware you must install the stock recovery using the tool and install the stock firmware. TWRP is only and only for any custom firmware due to different emmc_appsboot.mbn layout
The commands used in this tool
To install recovery
Code:
fastboot -i 0x19d2 flash recovery twrp*.img
where twrp*.img is the name of twrp recovery image
To install aboot [emmc_appsboot.mbn]
Code:
fastboot.exe -i 0x19d2 flash aboot emmc_appsboot.mbn

TUTORIAL-Samsung GALAXY S4 SGH-I337M-lineage os 14.1 7.1.2-ROM

Sorry for posting here, but I was unable to post in Android Development. And I feel this may help people who have trouble installing Nougat 7.1.2 on there Galaxy S4-I337M. As it was quite difficult for me to find the proper tools and method to install this OS.
The instructions are listed below. You will need to have TWRP installed and your phone rooted prior to doing the following
Recommended External SD CARD to save all files required.
Files required
-TWRP-3.1.1- GOOGLE dl.twrp.me/jfltecan/twrp-3.1.1-0-jfltecan.img.tar.html
-Odin3_v3.12.3- GOOGLE odindownloader.com/download/odin3-v3-12-3
-Gapps-GOOGLE opengapps.org/
-Lineage OS 14.1-GOOGLE JFLTE-SIDE-androidfilehost.com/?fid=961840155545596426
*SuperSUGOOGLE download.chainfire.eu/1220/SuperSU/SR5-SuperSU-v2.82-SR5-20171001224502.zip
I would install SuperSu but I believe Lineage has a built in SU. But to be Safe flash it anyways.
That is JFLTE ROM for S4 CANADIAN VARIANT.
Before you do any of this make sure you backup your phone image. This means everything not just apps and user data. If you have older version of twrp; enter recovery and go to backup. Then backup device. Once finished boot device. Save that backup to your PC.
I would recommend you have external SD card as well. Once you have your phone IMG backed up do the following.
Ensure you have Gapps downloaded for 7.1. You can choose which to download. I would recommend Pico 7.1.
It is the one with least google garbage.
Keep all files on phone but SD card is recommended in case of install failures.
Flash twrp 3.1.1 through odin, Make sure it is latest version. Turn off auto reboot on twrp.
When you flash 3.1.1 and odin states it has PASSED. Press VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER.WHEN SCREEN GOES BLANK QUICKLY PRESS VOLUME UP WHILE STILL HOLDING POWER AND HOME. WHEN PHONE SAYS RECOVERY, LET GO OF POWER WHILE PRESSING VOL UP+HOME. This will ensure you enter recovery and not freeze at main. If you cant get into recovery do following.
*Turn off phone. Then power on while holding VOL UP+HOME+POWER.When phone vibrates let go of power and continue pressing VOLUP+HOME. This will ensure your phone boots to recovery. Sometimes the phone will freeze and say SEandroid enforcing and will not allow you to get into recovery. So do the above.
Once phone is in recovery go to wipe. Wipe the following.
DALVIK,
SYSTEM,
DATA,
CACHE.
YOU CAN DO INTERNAL STORAGE, BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE ALL REQUIRED FILES ON EXTERNAL SD CARD. DO NOT WIPE INTERNAL IF YOU DO NOT HAVE EXTERNAL SD CARD.
!!DO NOT WIPE EXTERNAL SD CARD WHEN DOING WIPE.!!!
Once the wipe is complete Press back to get to TWRP main menu. DO NOT REBOOT AFTER WIPE JUST PRESS BACK KEY.
Then press INSTALL and go to the folder where you saved all the file Lineage rom, Gapps, SuperSU. Your going to go to install the ROM first.
select the folder where its saved and click the lineage os.zip and swipe to flash.
ONCE THE FLASH IS DONE PRESS BACK AND FLASH GAPPS.
THEN PRESS BACK AGAIN AND INSTALL SUPERSU.
ONCE SUPERSU.ZUP IS DONE FLASHING. THEN HIT REBOOT.
!!!******IMPORTANT- WHEN YOU HIT REBOOT YOU WILL SEE OPTIONS STATING INSTALL *NEW TWRP APP* AND SOME OTHER OPTION. YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THESE ARE **UNCHECKED**. IF LEFT ON YOU WILL GET SEANDROID ERROR. SO MAKE SURE THEY ARE UNCHECKED THEN SWIPE TO REBOOT********!!!
Now your system will boot to lineage. The first boot takes some time, so DO NOT panic. Allow the System to boot up and enter User Setup.
*******DO NOT TURN OFF PHONE JUST WAIT AND THE PHONE WILL LOAD OS AND ENTER USER SETUP***********
Once phone boots into OS. IT will enter Setup and you can take it from there.
Good luck!
PM me for any questions.
Has anyone tried this yet that can confirm if this works?
Until this is confirmed, I'm going to go with GoldenEye.
what could "take some time" mean? 10mins or more?

Worked for me - Samsung S4 I337M from TELUS. Thanks!
I'm interested in this ROM for the SGH-I337M. Can you confirm what works and what does not? Does camera work (both pictures and recording; front facing and rear facing?). Does GPS work? Does bluetooth and Wi-Fi work? Any significant issues? Also, I noticed that there are several newer ROMS.
while this worked for me my goal was to install magisk. Which throws a "boot image patched by unsupported programs. Please restore stock boot image".
i wonder if this is because it has been tweaked for this phone. or if Gapps is doing something.
probably the "optimized" aspect.
is Gapps absolutely necessary though?
Hey. Can anybody let me know if this will overheat my phone, or if there is a newer version available for download? I'm really interested in this, but I'd rather not go through the process of getting a new ROM, and setting everything up again, if it makes my phone feel like a clothing iron.
EDIT: I went into the files uploaded by this guy, and downloaded the most recent version of version 14, and... Wow. Awesome! It's super fast, and it does NOT heat my phone up one bit! My only question now is: Does version 16 of this ROM work for the Canadian variant of the S4? I can't seem to find any information on this, so any reply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know if anyone has found a solution, but I have successfully rooted my X30. Before I begin, I am NOT responsible for ANY damage incurred by following these instructions.
Here's what I did:
1) Unlock bootloader-
This is pretty easy on the X30. You need to have adb and fastboot installed. In a terminal (for Linux, which is what I use) or command prompt (for Windows) type: adb reboot bootloader. Once in bootloader, type: fastboot flashing unlock. on your phone (the print is really small) use the volume rocker to choose to unlock. Oh, before i forget, backup anything you want to keep as this will wipe the phone.
2) Boot the phone up, sign in, and search for magisk manger for android. Download and install it.
3) Download the boot image I have attached (it is the stock image for the X30).
4) Place the image on the root of your sd card or internal storage.
5) Open magisk manager and touch install (the one at the top, as there are two). Next tick the circle next to "Select and Patch a file. Choose the boot image you downloaded from here and magisk will do the rest.
6) Now boot it back into the bootloader (adb reboot bootloader).
7) Once in bootloader, type: fastboot flash boot magisk.img. Reboot phone (fastboot reboot).
8) After the phone is booted open Play Store and download root checker. Once it's downloaded open it and check for root. You should see a prompt asking for you to grant root access. touch "Grant" and it will respond and tell you have root access!
