I can't boot into stock recovery - T-Mobile LG G5 Questions & Answers

I solved it.
1. Power off device.
2. Hold power and vol down button.
3. Wait until lg logo appears.
4. Release power button only for one second while continuing to hold vol down. After the second elapsed press and hold the power button until it boots into recovery.

don't release both buttons.. keep volume down held. Remove USB cable to make it easier and make sure you're powered off before trying.
you also wont get into an actual recovery menu just have the ability to factory reset.
I've added a how-to boot into recovery section in my general g5 thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/how-to/info-autos-g5-thread-t3350648

So there's no way to get into the actual recovery yet?
I want to wipe the cache and see it it frees up some of the memory that's being used.
Right now I'm only showing 1.1 gb available of free ram out of 3.7 gb.

no u can only wipe data/cache through factory reset. not cache only.
only way for full recovery would be to unlock bootloader and install a custom recovery like TWRP.

Thanks, I figured it out. It's a bummer we can't wipe cache or dalvik with the stock recovery.
Hope we get TWRP soon and this whole fastbook issue figured out soon :fingers-crossed

HELP! Motoroi stuck in boot...

I hadn't even loaded a ROM but I was using Clockworkmod to format my SD card. It rebooted and when it started up again, I got this screen.

It won't stop this even with the hard reset... any ideas?
Clockwork does work for our (720) phones. Not sure about 701's but try these. Put your SDcard in your PC and format it all to Fat32 and wipe all Clockwork material from it. Thus making a clean slate. Then if you are partitioning your card you can use Minitool Home Partition Wizard and it will work for you or you can use GParted. I like Minitool bc it preserves the data on the partition is you want to resize it later on.
Install Open Recovery or Androidiani Open Recovery 3.3 (search google for downloads) follow instructions on installing and viola there you have it.
Once those are installed and partitioned all you'll have to do to get into recovery is hit power and when Motorola M shows up, press and hold Volume up.
I read somewhere on XDA that clockwork fails to distinguish between sd card and internal memory and might partition phone's internal memory. Though bug was fixed on version 3.0.2.6 or higher. Next time to be on a safer side partition it using Linux/windows/mac.
Have you tried reflashing it with RSDLite? It might give your phone a life!
My computer doesn't recognize the phone at all and I can't get past that screen I posted. I can't boot into recovery mode and I can't do a hard reset... I think I got a brick

That screenshot looks like a crashed OpenRecovery. Try using Motorola's recovery. I'm not sure if Motoroi is different, but this is how you enter Motorola recovery on Milestone XT720: https://motorola-global-en-aus.cust...one-xt720---master-reset-/-factory-data-reset
Can you get to the bootloader (power off, hold volume up+camera while powering on)? If so, all you have to do is flash a stock SBF using RSD lite or sbf_flash. You have to try really, really hard to permanently brick these phones.
Finally got it working... thanks everyone

ROM install failed

Hi,
I was trying to install a ROM this was my very first time I never did this before. I started ODin, attached my phone in download mode, provided .tar file in PDA and clicked START. A few command ran in ODin console and then my phone display was gone and nothing further happened in ODin console. I waited for long but no progress. I detached my phone and tried to restart it in order to revert back to my previous ROM. But I am seeing only this screen and I am stuck here:

I was installing ROM from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843019
I was following these steps provided on another thread:
Instructions - ODIN (long)
- Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch!
- Unzip the attached CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.zip
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start ODIN
- Click the PDA button, and select CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.tar
- Put your phone in download mode
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure repartition is NOT checked
- Click the START button
- Wait for the phone to reboot
- Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)
flash oficcial rom with odin 2.3.3 2.3.4
and then go to recovery mod (home key+power button) then click install zip form sd card and then pick that rom and then do factory reset and wipe cache reset
and then reboot
Hi mv_style,
I tried flashing official rom with odin. Everything ran successfully in oDin. But when I rebooted my phone it shows the start screen and then restarts and this repeats infinitely.
Can you please let me know whats the problem and how can I fix it?
Thank
Did you try reflashing it again, after factory reset and wipe?
Ok press Power buttom + Home buttom and select wipe data factory reset and than reboot the phone.
Install clockworkmod and wipe all ...it wuold be the solution

[Q] Help! ROM Issue - No Recovery Option

A friend of mine rooted/unlocked/installed DlevROM on my Infuse, and pretty much set it all up for me. I wanted to move to the ZEUS ROM so I put the zip on my sd card, booted into recovery, and installed it on my phone. I guess I should have wiped everything beforehand because now my settings seem to be mixed between the DlevROM and ZEUS ROM's settings.
My big issue: I wanted to boot back into recovery, wipe everything, and do a clean install of the ZEUS ROM, but now I have one big problem:
When I hold down the button on my phone that normally gave me a bunch of options: Reboot, Recovery, Sleep, etc... I now only have 3 options: Silent Mode, Flight Mode, and Power off.
How do I boot into recovery since the option to do so is gone? Please help, I am freaking out here.

newbee with roms

I have rooted my nexus s 4g using sdk method, I'm thinking of diving into installing the cm-10 but need instructions. Pardon if by chance I'm in wrong forum, but they wouldn't let me swim in the developer pool yet.
Welcome to the world of flashing
WARNING!! this will delete all your apps and data so use a program like titanium backup to backup all of your apps and data.
1. Make sure you have CWM Recovery installed. (If not, download rom manager from the play store and flash it.
2. Download the rom you wish to install, and put it on the root of your sdcard. Plus the gapps if there are any.
3. Turn your phone off and hold the volume + button and power button at the same time to boot into the bootloader. Navigate using the volume buttons and select recovery using the power button. If you have the touch recovery you can use touch otherwise use volume keys and power button.
4. Go into backup/restore and click backup and scroll down and hit yes. (This makes a NANdroid, which is a backup of your stock rom. If anything goes wrong or stuck in a bootloop or just having problems, you can restore your stock rom using this)
5. Hit wide data/factory reset, wipe cache and then go into advanced and click wipe dalvik cache.
6. Go back and click install from sdcard and then choose from sdcard and then choose the rom you want to install.
7. Reboot and it should take about 5 Mins to reboot. (dont worry, everytime you install a new rom, it will take a little longer than usual)
8. Once rebooted, you will be asked to set up your phone like when you first got it.
Well done you just installed your first rom
Happy flashing.
Read this three times, then do it... this has every step from a new phone, so you may skip a couple steps.

Welcome to the NS4G club...now to down to businesses. If you want the east way just use ROM Manager it currently has a CM10 ROM in burnsa. Make sure on the options before flashing you select all 3. So you have a back up and a clean flash. Have fun

[Q] Installing CM10 over another custom mod

Hi guys,
I just bough a used HTC One S. The device has rooted by previous owner. There is a custom rom but I do not know which one it is. I want to install CM10 to my phone. I tried to follow the step from this a video but I have a problem. After writing the "fastboot flash boot boot.img" command, the guy from the video hits the "HBOOT" button but there is no "HBOOT" option in my phone's "FASTBOOT" menu. As far as I guess, because of that, I cannot flash "boot.img" and cannot see recovery menu of this boot. So what should I do in this step, I would be appriciated if anyone could help me.
The video's title is "HTC One X: Jelly Bean CM10 (Cyanogenmod) - How to Install - Cursed4Eva". I cannot add link because of lack of post.

How about... like... Following a guide ment for the one S, instead of a guide for a completely different device?
yea, the right guide for your phone will help!
also, can you still boot into bootloader to make sure phone still works:
do this by pressing vol- and pwr at same time until screen goes black or for about 8-10 seconds. then release power, but continue to hold vol- till phone boots into bootloader. Once there you can use volume rocker to go thru choices and pwr to select. at this point you can press pwr with the FASTBOOT highlighted blue, then then select reboot. Or you can go down to recovery and select it and see if you can get to recovery. if you get stuck just reboot into bootloader as mentioned above.
also, you can check which rom is on phone by going to Settings/About Phone and scroll to bottom. since you don't know that, i would suggest getting much more familiar with the phone and your bootloader screen before flashing roms.
whichever rom you flash, read the OP page carefully and first and last 20 pages of thread. also, include wiping system as part of any full wipe.
recommend TWRP recovery, which you can get thru goo manager from playstore as opposed to cwm.
make sure whether you have an S4 or S3 phone. S4's will run at 1512mhz
anyway read, read, read and make a backup of your phone and sdcard asap
