A friend of mine rooted/unlocked/installed DlevROM on my Infuse, and pretty much set it all up for me. I wanted to move to the ZEUS ROM so I put the zip on my sd card, booted into recovery, and installed it on my phone. I guess I should have wiped everything beforehand because now my settings seem to be mixed between the DlevROM and ZEUS ROM's settings.
My big issue: I wanted to boot back into recovery, wipe everything, and do a clean install of the ZEUS ROM, but now I have one big problem:
When I hold down the button on my phone that normally gave me a bunch of options: Reboot, Recovery, Sleep, etc... I now only have 3 options: Silent Mode, Flight Mode, and Power off.
How do I boot into recovery since the option to do so is gone? Please help, I am freaking out here.

Three button into recovery. Hold down Vol up/dwn and power till samsung displays then let go of vol. You should boot into recovery.

Haha which ever one it is... I never use it...
Extended power menus are my friend!
it surprises me how people still have not gotten the hand of 3 finger your way in to recovery... how long have this been been out? 9 months people. and you still cant figure out that its just faster to 3 finger your way into recovery.
and that people, was my little rant on 3 fingering your way into recovery. Thank you. now have a awesome day, keep calm, and smack anybody who disturbs you. k. whatever. bye.
Download rommanager, open rommanager than choose the "boot into recovery" option

Hello,
First, I am completely new to rooting, flashing etc.
Second, I just flashed Coredroid, and want to try another custom ROM. However, when I go to Settings > Applications, I don't see the "Fast Boot" option. So, Volume Down + Power won't work!
Could you assist on this issue?
Thanks.
you dont need fastboot.
copy the rom you want to your phone
hold down the power button until the menu comes up
hit restart
it should give you 4 options
choose recovery
in recovery, install from sdcard
point to the new rom you want to use
confirm
it will flash, once done, reboot
done
If that doesn't work, you can reboot to Recovery within Rom Manager as well.

The option to turn off fast boot is under "power" in the settings menu
something like this

No! Nothing like that. That is not how you turn off fastboot.
my thoughts are that all roms should come with fastboot turned off by default anyway, so if there is an issue, it isnt a complete chore to get in.
thats why i will always turn it off with my releases

Thank you for your reply. Actually, I didn't have any options under restart button. I found the "Fast Boot" option under "Power" settings, so I disabled it then Vol Down + Power worked for me to boot in recovery mode.

Thanks for the advise. I, now, use the Rom Manager whenever I want to boot in recovery. That works like a charm!
Hi guys,
I just bough a used HTC One S. The device has rooted by previous owner. There is a custom rom but I do not know which one it is. I want to install CM10 to my phone. I tried to follow the step from this a video but I have a problem. After writing the "fastboot flash boot boot.img" command, the guy from the video hits the "HBOOT" button but there is no "HBOOT" option in my phone's "FASTBOOT" menu. As far as I guess, because of that, I cannot flash "boot.img" and cannot see recovery menu of this boot. So what should I do in this step, I would be appriciated if anyone could help me.
The video's title is "HTC One X: Jelly Bean CM10 (Cyanogenmod) - How to Install - Cursed4Eva". I cannot add link because of lack of post.

How about... like... Following a guide ment for the one S, instead of a guide for a completely different device?
yea, the right guide for your phone will help!
also, can you still boot into bootloader to make sure phone still works:
do this by pressing vol- and pwr at same time until screen goes black or for about 8-10 seconds. then release power, but continue to hold vol- till phone boots into bootloader. Once there you can use volume rocker to go thru choices and pwr to select. at this point you can press pwr with the FASTBOOT highlighted blue, then then select reboot. Or you can go down to recovery and select it and see if you can get to recovery. if you get stuck just reboot into bootloader as mentioned above.
also, you can check which rom is on phone by going to Settings/About Phone and scroll to bottom. since you don't know that, i would suggest getting much more familiar with the phone and your bootloader screen before flashing roms.
whichever rom you flash, read the OP page carefully and first and last 20 pages of thread. also, include wiping system as part of any full wipe.
recommend TWRP recovery, which you can get thru goo manager from playstore as opposed to cwm.
make sure whether you have an S4 or S3 phone. S4's will run at 1512mhz
anyway read, read, read and make a backup of your phone and sdcard asap
Hello,
I have bought a used Xoom which shows after reboot the message "Tablet could not be use, please insert the valid sim card"
But I also can't go in recovery / fastboot mode during boot operation. I tried this instruction.
"Boot XOOM into Recovery, Fastboot, or RSD mode
So you need to get into Recovery to backup your XOOM (you do nandroid don't you?). Or perhaps you were working on creating new levels of awesome and something happend and you find yourself staring at the Motorola Dual Core boot screen with your XOOM refusing to boot any further. Fear not, you are only a few clicks away from finding your way back into recovery or fastboot goodness.
Turn your XOOM off
Press Power to turn your XOOM back on
When the Motorola Dual Core boot screen appears tap Volume Down repeatedly until "Android Recovery" is displayed
Press Volume Up to enter Recovery"
So root is also not possible because, I can't activate the USB debugging.
What is the best way to install CM10.2 on my XOOM?
Thanks a lot
Markus
Instead of repeatedly tapping volume down, boot the "M" logo screen, wait three seconds and press Volume Down once. Some white text should appear. Volume Up changes the text, Volume Down selects it. If you can get into recovery that way, then you can probably make some headway.

Whats a good dealer for spare parts? It seems that also the sim slot is defect. HM can I root the xoom without sim reader and without volume buttons?
Thanks
Markus
I solved it.
1. Power off device.
2. Hold power and vol down button.
3. Wait until lg logo appears.
4. Release power button only for one second while continuing to hold vol down. After the second elapsed press and hold the power button until it boots into recovery.
don't release both buttons.. keep volume down held. Remove USB cable to make it easier and make sure you're powered off before trying.
you also wont get into an actual recovery menu just have the ability to factory reset.
I've added a how-to boot into recovery section in my general g5 thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/how-to/info-autos-g5-thread-t3350648

So there's no way to get into the actual recovery yet?
I want to wipe the cache and see it it frees up some of the memory that's being used.
Right now I'm only showing 1.1 gb available of free ram out of 3.7 gb.

no u can only wipe data/cache through factory reset. not cache only.
only way for full recovery would be to unlock bootloader and install a custom recovery like TWRP.
Thanks, I figured it out. It's a bummer we can't wipe cache or dalvik with the stock recovery.
Hope we get TWRP soon and this whole fastbook issue figured out soon :fingers-crossed

Press Volume - & Home & Power for ~30sec then phone must automaticlly reboot, then when you will see Samsung logo directly really fastly move finger from Volume - to Volume + but still holding that other two buttons. You must get in to recovery menu if you had flashed it before. Then flash again ROOT or full-wipe and just clean install another ROM+ROOT ofcourse. If you did fully unroot via SuperSU then that's can be why now system don't started
