Hello,
First, I am completely new to rooting, flashing etc.
Second, I just flashed Coredroid, and want to try another custom ROM. However, when I go to Settings > Applications, I don't see the "Fast Boot" option. So, Volume Down + Power won't work!
Could you assist on this issue?
Thanks.
you dont need fastboot.
copy the rom you want to your phone
hold down the power button until the menu comes up
hit restart
it should give you 4 options
choose recovery
in recovery, install from sdcard
point to the new rom you want to use
confirm
it will flash, once done, reboot
done
If that doesn't work, you can reboot to Recovery within Rom Manager as well.

The option to turn off fast boot is under "power" in the settings menu
something like this

No! Nothing like that. That is not how you turn off fastboot.
my thoughts are that all roms should come with fastboot turned off by default anyway, so if there is an issue, it isnt a complete chore to get in.
thats why i will always turn it off with my releases

Thank you for your reply. Actually, I didn't have any options under restart button. I found the "Fast Boot" option under "Power" settings, so I disabled it then Vol Down + Power worked for me to boot in recovery mode.

Thanks for the advise. I, now, use the Rom Manager whenever I want to boot in recovery. That works like a charm!

Hello!
I really need your help, I'm stuck!
I'll try to explain what happened.
I decided to change my Samsung Captivates ROM, did all stuff which was listed in tutorials 1:1.
Downloaded Clockwork recovery manager, created that update.zip file using it.
Moved my new ROM to sd card. Then selected an option "Install rom from sd card" in Clockwork recovery manager.
Phone rebooted...
And that's all, know I can't do completely nothing, I mean I just cant use volume and power buttons to select items in menu. It's just frozen.

I found similar topic, maybe this is reason?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869781
Anyway, I need you help, as that topic didn't helped me, as I dont know what people were talking about there.
I can view internal memory files using Droid Explorer, but I can't view sdcard's data to remove that update.zip...
What can I do in this situation?
Many thanks!
that is just worst day for me. After applying older version of Clockwerk, I was able to select in recovery menu.
I selected format user data, and after selected to install Fenix rom.
During installation, some kind of error occurred. And only thing i can see, it is At&t flash logo on my screen.
If I try to enter into recovery mode, power button (select) isn't working, only up and down buttons are working...
just one question:
What should i do? damnit...
installed in download mode.
Thanks to this guy, his screencasts 're just epic.
maybe it will help someone else

can you access to dawnload mod with the 3 combinations? if yes flash another rom with odin.
Ifnot if you can still acess to recovery (if u can access daawnload mod then u can access recovery) all u need is to pull your batterry and do the 3 combinations, then press installe zip from sd card, then choose zip from sd card , and then YES installe zip from sd card, ENJOY!
A friend of mine rooted/unlocked/installed DlevROM on my Infuse, and pretty much set it all up for me. I wanted to move to the ZEUS ROM so I put the zip on my sd card, booted into recovery, and installed it on my phone. I guess I should have wiped everything beforehand because now my settings seem to be mixed between the DlevROM and ZEUS ROM's settings.
My big issue: I wanted to boot back into recovery, wipe everything, and do a clean install of the ZEUS ROM, but now I have one big problem:
When I hold down the button on my phone that normally gave me a bunch of options: Reboot, Recovery, Sleep, etc... I now only have 3 options: Silent Mode, Flight Mode, and Power off.
How do I boot into recovery since the option to do so is gone? Please help, I am freaking out here.

and that people, was my little rant on 3 fingering your way into recovery. Thank you. now have a awesome day, keep calm, and smack anybody who disturbs you. k. whatever. bye.
Download rommanager, open rommanager than choose the "boot into recovery" option

I have rooted my nexus s 4g using sdk method, I'm thinking of diving into installing the cm-10 but need instructions. Pardon if by chance I'm in wrong forum, but they wouldn't let me swim in the developer pool yet.
Welcome to the world of flashing
WARNING!! this will delete all your apps and data so use a program like titanium backup to backup all of your apps and data.
1. Make sure you have CWM Recovery installed. (If not, download rom manager from the play store and flash it.
2. Download the rom you wish to install, and put it on the root of your sdcard. Plus the gapps if there are any.
3. Turn your phone off and hold the volume + button and power button at the same time to boot into the bootloader. Navigate using the volume buttons and select recovery using the power button. If you have the touch recovery you can use touch otherwise use volume keys and power button.
4. Go into backup/restore and click backup and scroll down and hit yes. (This makes a NANdroid, which is a backup of your stock rom. If anything goes wrong or stuck in a bootloop or just having problems, you can restore your stock rom using this)
5. Hit wide data/factory reset, wipe cache and then go into advanced and click wipe dalvik cache.
6. Go back and click install from sdcard and then choose from sdcard and then choose the rom you want to install.
7. Reboot and it should take about 5 Mins to reboot. (dont worry, everytime you install a new rom, it will take a little longer than usual)
8. Once rebooted, you will be asked to set up your phone like when you first got it.
Well done you just installed your first rom
Happy flashing.
Read this three times, then do it... this has every step from a new phone, so you may skip a couple steps.

Welcome to the NS4G club...now to down to businesses. If you want the east way just use ROM Manager it currently has a CM10 ROM in burnsa. Make sure on the options before flashing you select all 3. So you have a back up and a clean flash. Have fun

Hi guys,
I just bough a used HTC One S. The device has rooted by previous owner. There is a custom rom but I do not know which one it is. I want to install CM10 to my phone. I tried to follow the step from this a video but I have a problem. After writing the "fastboot flash boot boot.img" command, the guy from the video hits the "HBOOT" button but there is no "HBOOT" option in my phone's "FASTBOOT" menu. As far as I guess, because of that, I cannot flash "boot.img" and cannot see recovery menu of this boot. So what should I do in this step, I would be appriciated if anyone could help me.
The video's title is "HTC One X: Jelly Bean CM10 (Cyanogenmod) - How to Install - Cursed4Eva". I cannot add link because of lack of post.

How about... like... Following a guide ment for the one S, instead of a guide for a completely different device?
yea, the right guide for your phone will help!
also, can you still boot into bootloader to make sure phone still works:
do this by pressing vol- and pwr at same time until screen goes black or for about 8-10 seconds. then release power, but continue to hold vol- till phone boots into bootloader. Once there you can use volume rocker to go thru choices and pwr to select. at this point you can press pwr with the FASTBOOT highlighted blue, then then select reboot. Or you can go down to recovery and select it and see if you can get to recovery. if you get stuck just reboot into bootloader as mentioned above.
also, you can check which rom is on phone by going to Settings/About Phone and scroll to bottom. since you don't know that, i would suggest getting much more familiar with the phone and your bootloader screen before flashing roms.
whichever rom you flash, read the OP page carefully and first and last 20 pages of thread. also, include wiping system as part of any full wipe.
recommend TWRP recovery, which you can get thru goo manager from playstore as opposed to cwm.
make sure whether you have an S4 or S3 phone. S4's will run at 1512mhz
anyway read, read, read and make a backup of your phone and sdcard asap

the main problem is "Home button + Volume Down key + Power button simultaneously until you land in download mode." DOES NOT WORK FOR ME, I NEED IT'S ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION
Well then go to the respective forum of this phone. But I don't undertand why adb tools are not working for you. That's not possible LOL... I never see it happened if adb is configured properly.
