[ GUIDE ] ViPER|Atmos V4A Sony Beats Edition + Audiophile 100% working tutorial on S7 - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

Here is a complete guide on how to get V4A stock and V4A Sony Beats Edition working on your Samsung Galaxy S7 Device. Please note I have tested this personally on my own S7 Edge SM-G935F and it is working 100%. There was a few bumps along the way to get everything working and if it wasn’t for @guitardedhero help and everyone else involved I wouldn’t have figured it out. There were similar tutorials HERE and HERE that offered some insight but didn' provide a fully working procedure so I put together my own guide that will work for sure.
You will need a rooted device for this to work (SuperSU by @Chainfire CF-AUTO-ROOT) and a working recovery TWRP version 3.0.0 or above found HERE
As usual please backup all your data and files (internal and external SD cards) as mistakes can be made and things don’t always go as planned
0. In your SuperSU app go to setting and deselect/un-tick “Mount namespace separation” (this is causing issues with the installation process on this and other devices)
1. Install BusyBox by Stephen (Stericson) with the default settings of /su/xbin
2. Install the latest version of Viper4Android (currently 2.4.0.1) from the official website - LINK or if you prefer use the older version as it has been favored for providing better quality. (Do not open just yet, only install)
2.3.4.0 with its Super Quality driver is absolutely superior to 2.4.0.1 and its driver in every aspect, it's almost not even fair. I promise you, this build will absolutely blow your mind, especially when used with the ViPER|Audio™ Audiophile™ 4.0 Profile @guitardedhero
3. Make sure Viper4Android has write permissions (this should be on as default but check just in case) Settings -> Applications -> Application manager -> V4A -> Permissions -> and make sure all available options are enabled.
4. Freeze the stock Sound Alive or Adapt Sound app using Titanium Backup.
5. Open up Root Explorer (or your preferred root browser) and change the system to MOUNT R/W
6. Go to root/system/etc/ and rename the file audio_effect.conf to audio_effect.conf.backup
7. Download the modified audio_effect.conf from HERE and copy it to /system/etc/ and /vendor/etc/
(This last location will have no files, it may be skipped?)
8. Set permissions of the new files to rw-r-r (0644) (important! Or you may have boot loops)
9. Change your system back to MOUNT R/O and exit.
8. Restart your device in recovery and flash THIS FILE HERE and reboot (I didn’t perform any wipes)
9. Once your device reboots, open up V4A and grant root permissions and install the requested drivers.
10. Reboot once again and this should be it…
You should now have V4A working on your device
If you feel the stock V4A isn’t giving you the correct audio niche or experience then consider changing to ViPER|Atmos™ 4.8.1 Sony™ Beats™ Edition by @guitardedhero – (I have not tested other editions found here on the OP Thread, they may or may not work… any volunteers ??? )
FLASH THIS FILE TO GET STARTED ViPERAtmos 4.8.1 Sony Beats Driverless.zip
Once your phone reboot you will have a new looking V4A icon and upon opening it should work but your Dolby Atmos app will keep crashing until you FLASH THIS FILE dap_r6.5.zip - Fresh Dolby Atmos App file.
And here is a quick guide written by @guitardedhero to enable the Audiophile profiles...
I don't recommend others to flash without an acceptable backup to restore as this build drops compatibility big time for some devices resulting in no in-call volume for example. It is the custom version I built for my Nexus 6 ViPER|Atmos™ Audiophile™ rom and is just absolutely incredible!
Post-install instructions:
In v4a:
Menu > Show Notification (disable through notification shade if you wish)
Menu > Ui Setting > Expert
Menu > Save Effect Profile > As New Effect > Stock
Download and extract ViPERAudio Audiophile Profile 4.0 zip from the OP attachments section or HERE.
Search in:
/data/media/legacy/ViPER4Android/Profile
and
/storage/emulated/0/ViPER4Android/Profile
until you find the Stock folder you just saved earlier.
Take note that this is your working v4a directory.
Copy the Kernel and Profile folders in the ViPERAudio Audiophile folder you extracted earlier and paste them into the /ViPER4Android folder of your working v4a directory. Compare the folder and file permissions to the Stock folder and files and set them to the same permissions if necessary.
In v4a:
Menu > Load Effect Profile > Audiophile 4.0
Recommended Dolby Atmos™ Settings:
Music tab highlighted at the top
Open or Flat EQ preset
All three effects at the bottom turned Off except for Dialogue Enhancer if it sounds good to you.
Troubleshooting and additional steps will be written here shortly...
Please find all needed and extra files bellow...

Here you go, friend!
Feel free to add this to your OP, a flashable audio_policy for you and your friends! :good:

Thanks! 2 questions..
1) what's the battery drain like compared to without v4a?
2) how do we fully revert back to stock and remove v4a?

Thanks for this guide, kinda got stuck at step 5 though, couldn't figure out how to mount r/w using es file explorer with root? When I tried to change the filename of audio_effects.conf it said task failed which is because I didn't mount r/w I assume

You made my day man
2.3.4.0 is way better than 2.3.4.1 by miles.
I have GS5 besides my 7 edge and the reason i kept it around is the sound quality, i always favored it to listen to music over my 7 edge and just figured out the reason; 2.3.4.0 is installed on my GS5.

The first guide didn't provide a fully working method, try it and it will keep asking you to reinstall drivers, the second was designed for the S6 and provided a different method, here it is covered 101% plus additional sound mods, profiles, Atmos, and much more.

just try it with root explorer app from the store, the second you open it it has that option displayed in the top right hand corner, you cant miss it...

Any reason why the audio sounds high pitched/faster after installation?

[CM12/12.1-UPDATED] S4 Display Color Profiles for CyanogenMod 11, 12, 12.1

### CM12(.1) UPDATE ### (see bottom)
Hey Folks,
are you also tired of the oversaturated colors of the S4 amoled display??
I found out that the S4minisettings.apk, that was originally developed for the S4 Mini by @F4k to regulate the saturation and other colour concerning features, does the job for the S4 aswell! It works very similar to the colour profiles built into samsung stock roms.
After installation you can find a new settings option "advanced settings" in systemsettings/display just like they're are built in into the carbon roms.
Installation:
Download the apk from the link below.
Then you have to manually put the s4minisettings.apk to /system/app and after that it's very important to set ownership and permissions as follows:
Owner: root, root
Permissions: rw,r,r (644)
reboot!
The main option to reduce the saturation is called "Mode - Set the mDNIe mode". I choose "natural" and the oversaturation of the display is gone!
Some other options don't apply until you switch screen off an on once.
___________________________________________________
The apk can be downloaded here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2443961&d=1386605141
original thread here (search for F4K's post):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2558702&page=11
you may also want to have a look at s4miniarchive who did a good article/video about it:
http://www.s4miniarchive.com/2014/01/enable-color-saturation-galaxy-s4-mini-cyanogenmod11.html
all thanks go to @F4k for creating this nice apk!
###CM12(.1)-Instructions###
So, f4k made a new lollipop version of this tool S4MiniSettings and built it into his S4 Mini cm12 rom. I extracted it and offer it to you for download.
Instructions:
- extract zip
- copy the folder "S4Minisettings" to /system/app folder
- set permissions of the folder to rwxr-xr-x (755), the apk to rw-r--r-- (644)
- reboot
- after reboot there is a new icon in the app drawer
- if you prefered the setting "natural" from the kitkat version, now choose "movie"
Notes:
- Important: SELinux level higher than "strikt"/"enforcing" is needed to write to system folder and/or set permissions, and the apk to be loaded at boot. Custom kernels like Alucard mostly got SELinux set to "moderat".
- Don't be confused about the app name - it does work with the S4 - definitely!
Doesn't S4 4.4.2 have this by default? I can do same changes through my Display settings - no need for additional apk.
I use kernel perseus to better experience with real colors.

The "S4" has this by default in the Touchwiz ROM it ships with, but this thread is about CyanogenMod.
Speaking of which, it possible to adjust color cast in CM11 on my Note 8.0 under Display/Display Advanced. Maybe this feature will also come to CM11 on the i9500.
When i reboot nothing happends :/ i have everything like you said, bit it doestn appear. I have cm 11 snapshot m3, help?

the permissions are exactly like you have it, but still its not working. It doesnt scan my apps when I reboot :/. Also worth noting, every time i go to see the permissions or change it it says in a square. "The current file system is read-only. Do you want to remount as read-write and continue the operation?" I click yes, then i change it rw--r--r and reboot and nothing happends. When I go check it againg is the same prosses all over againg.
Edit: Also, in my settings I have Display & lights instead of "Display" as the video shows. I know nothing and I understand this may be a dumb question, but it may had to do with the problem? sorry.
Over-saturated colours of S4? Oh Dear Lord :|

This apk requires way too many permissions for the task it performs... Suspicious...
There is another option: KTweaker tool which comes with Ktoonsez kernels also allows to modify this setting (works with CM11 kernel, not only with Ktoonsez) .
After all this setting can be set via kernel "/sys" filesystem. From terminal emulator execute command:
Code:
echo 2 > /sys/class/mdnie/mdnie/mode
To make this change permanent (survive reboots and ROM updates) one may use init.d supplied with CM11, and create additional script in /data/local/ (in this location script will survive CM update).
Seems like init.d in CM11-M10 doesn't start scripts in /data/local/userinit.d/ directory, so the only option is to place script code to /data/local/userinit.sh
Permissions of this script must be set to 0755 (-rwxr-xr-x).
For anyone who interested in adopting this method I've prepared template script (also it sets some other available screen options, not only mode):
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
# For SGS4 screen mode can be chosen from:
# 0 - STANDARD
# 1 - DYNAMIC
# 2 - MOVIE
# 3 - NATURAL
echo 3 > /sys/class/mdnie/mdnie/mode
# For SGS4 screen scenario can be chosen from:
# 0 - UI_MODE
# 1 - VIDEO_MODE
# 2 - VIDEO_WARM_MODE
# 3 - VIDEO_COLD_MODE
# 4 - CAMERA_MODE
# 5 - NAVI
# 6 - GALLERY_MODE
# 7 - VT_MODE
# 8 - BROWSER
# 9 - eBOOK
echo 0 > /sys/class/mdnie/mdnie/scenario
# Other parameters are boolean: 0 - Disabled, 1 - Enabled
echo 0 > /sys/class/mdnie/mdnie/negative
echo 0 > /sys/class/mdnie/mdnie/outdoor
Additionally I've prepared TWRP (CWM should work also, but I've not tested) installable version of this script (see attachment).
In that case if you dislike my default setting you'll need to unpack it, edit "data/local/userinit.sh" and pack it back using zip.
PS
This MAY work with other Samsung AMOLED devices. I can confirm that it works with galaxy tab 7.7 (p6800).

It's not suspicious in any way! The developer f4k who wrote this little apk is a very honorable guy, just have a look at his profile and all of the work he does...
This apk does the job perfectly and doesn't do any harm to nothing.
Your remark/comment is very unnessessary here. So why don't you go start a thread your own instead of lousing this one up?

I'm not trying to blame anyone in anything.
I'm not a pro in android programming and maybe such permissions are implied to all apk's that manage system settings.
However I can't see any reason for app that manages screen settings to require permissions to make calls, access user contacts etc. and it seems suspicious to me. That's all.

When I was searching how to setup screen settings in CM11 on SGS4 I've found only this thread. And when I've managed to solve this problem with alternative method I've decided that other users maybe interested in this information. I've posted to Your thread because I thought that it is a good idea to post all possible solutions for 'S4 amoled display colour profiles with cyanogenmod 11' in one thread to help other people find them quickly and in one place.
Sorry if I was wrong and violated something.

Mostly when there are high ranking permissions for an app requested, it isn't because of maliciousness of the author, it's often just carelessness of the creator not deactivating them in the building tool's presets he uses.
And after all, just don't be so mistrustful about things coming from senior xda developers......
This method I announced here is very simple to install, safe and works perfectly even with the latest nightlies so far.

-------------------IMPORTANT STEP----------------------------------------------
5: Once you are in recovery mode make a full backup of your actual rom.
THIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE MY TWRP MAKE A BACKUP OF VITAL PARTITIONS WHERE IS STORED IMEI,MAC ETC...
it's a good idea to copy the backup folder on your PC, it could be very useful in future in case of problem with missing IMEI and other trouble...
-------------------IMPORTANT STEP----------------------------------------------
6: Now ( note:due to the fact some people had problem during this step in TWRP-Settings select "Use rm -rf instead of formatting.")select: Wipe-Advanced Wipe and tick: Dalvik Cache,System,Cache,Data.
7: (Without exit from recovery) Select Install and choose the rom zip (on upper part of the recovery screen you can select Internal Storage or SD Card).....
....reboot....

BUGS&TIPS
BUGS:
....probably you will find "G750-T20" or "Huawei" in some places:this is needed for the firmware to working(many libs and function refering to those names)
........
TIPS:
NVRAM WARNING: ERR 0x10 (& random WLAN MAC ADDRESS) ???....HERE THE DEFINITIVE SOLUTION
To download Themes and Songs remember to have simcard inserted and not to be in "Flight Mode":Those apps need to access your IMEI number to finalize autentication..
EMUmI is PREROOTED but there isn't the Supersu apk,all apps needing root will work well,i suggest to install SuperSu(from market) only if you need to manage apps permissions..
The rom is FULLY ODEXED (more stable&fast)....so is not reccomended using Titanium or similar app to remove and then restore apps:It will remove the related libs from system but it will not restore them...so i suggest to use it only if you know what you are doing..(to reinstall an app you need to extract the libs from his .apk and copy them to system/lib again.....)..however you can restore "Only data" of apps without problems.
Many Google related apps are not present(tts,search...)first of all to gain space, second because they are often updated....if you need them you can download from Market without problem..
How To Enable On Screen Soft Buttons:modify this line in build.prop:
#qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
TO
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
(remember to left an empty line at the end of build.prop!)

LG G Flex 2 H959 Ultimate Mod Guide

(ATTENTION: Using this guide is your choice. I am not responsible if your phone gets bricked. All I'm doing is sharing my results so people can enjoy a better experience on their G Flex2, I do not know if this guide will work in anyone else's phone, I only know it worked on mine)
Hello, and welcome to my guide . I'm going to guide you through all the process I went through to install mods that will tweak your experience. The tweaks and mods used, are, as follows:
Audio Enhancement [Viper4Audio (credits to: users zhuhang and guitardedhero) Dolby Atmos (credits to: users guitardedhero and worstenbrood) and a modified mixer_paths profile (credits to: users paris07121978 and soosoolhastam)]
Camera Enhancement [modified camera_config and media_profiles (credits to: user jacksoncolocho)]
Screen And G4 Style-Tweaks [Flash-Mods (credits to: user bountyman334)]
Better Performance and Less Heat Output [modified thermal-engine-8994 (credits to: user probaina) tweaked interactive governors (credits to: users soosoolhastam and soniCron)]
Widened Scope of Phone Modifications [Xposed (credits to: user rovo89)]
Latest (Lollipop, Marshmallow on a locked bootloader is not rootable yet) Software Rooted Image (as of 5th of June, 2016) [15e rootedsystem image (credits to: user kevin3688)]
(I'm so sorry if I let anyone out, if I forgot to credit someone, please reply and I'll add him/her)
TL;DR, here's the guide:
1. (If you haven't already) Flash this image (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0UblGbOPFYBT2RERDZKcUhqcnM/view) on your phone, with this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/lg-h959-v15a-rooted-andriod-5-1-1-t3178517). Note that that flash command works for the 15e image. Now you have the latest software version.
2. Download and Install (on your phone) FlashFire, from the google store (yes, from the google store, not the old 0.24 version).
3. Download and install Stericon's busybox from the play store.
4. Download XposedInstaller.apk into your phone and also download the zip file (the one you'll flash with FlashFire), which has to be from sdk22 (that's for android 5.1.1) and from arm64 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811). Make sure to download the latest one. Now open Flashfire and flash the zip file (+ button, tap on flash zip or ota, select the zip file to the downloaded location, and uncheck mount read/write, then tap on flash). Afterwards, install the downloaded XposedInstaller.apk on your phone and open it. You are now able to use Xposed, which is a unique framework that allows you to download modules, which are "apps" that can change your phone in a lot of ways, way more than a regular app, I think. To install modules, open the XposedInstaller and... you'll figure it out.
5. Downgrade your flashfire app into the 0.24 version, by uninstalling it and installing this version instead (http://flashfireapk.com/flashfire-0.24.apk).
6. Flash the mod (same thing as before, but now there's only the auto-mount option, don't check it) provided by this thread, look for the h959 link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/development/dec-21-stock-lollipop-flex-2-ls996-t3275531). Download it (on your phone) and flash it with FlashFire (it might take a while). Now you should have a slightly better screen, G4 design changes and other tweaks to your phone.
7. Uninstall flashfire 0.24 and install the version from the google store again.
8. Download the Dolby Atmos zip file (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/mod-dolby-atmos-t3109446) and flash it with FlashFire (same thing as before, now there are more options again, uncheck mount read/write again). You should now have a dolby atmos app on your app drawer, it uses an intelligent equalizer and other cool stuff to make your audio sound better. Tweak it to your liking.
9. Download the zip file "ViperAtmos x (x represents the latest version, 5.5 as of now) sony beats edition" (link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/viperaudio-viperatmos-3-8-sq-driver-t3289075) (that "sony beats edition" is not completely necessary, so if in a future version it's not there anymore, don't worry about it). But don't flash it. Instead, copy the content of that zip file to your root folder (mount the folder as read/write with your file explorer and overwrite what's already there) (the lowest/highest folder on your phone, it's not accessible via pc, only via a root browser). The folder can also be called "system(root)" or a hashtag or just "/", don't confuse it with the folder named root that is inside "/" or the folder "system" that is also inside "/". If any files couldn't be placed, like for example audio_effects.conf, try finding that file (it's in "vendor/ect", "system/etc" and "system/vendor/etc") and mount that file read/write, now try copying and pasting again, if it doesn't work again try rebooting and trying again. Open the V4A (V4A stands for Viper4Android) app, it may say to install drivers or it might be already installed, if it says install drivers tap on ok. It will say drivers are installed, so reboot.
10. Download and install SE Linux Mode Changer (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524485), give it root permission and change the mode to permissive. Now Viper4Android and Dolby Atmos should be working together. Viper4Android is an audio tweaking tool that enhances your listening experience, and gives you a range of customization to do so. Tweak it to your liking.
11. Download the following file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3566699&d=1449390187 (delete the mixer_paths from that zip file). Also download the mixer_paths file from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/development/surround-mode-h955-t3376881), look for the latest post of the user "soosoolhastam" on that thread, the one where he uploaded his modification of the mixer_paths file. Also download the thermal-engine-8994 file from Probaina here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/thermal-throttling-hotplug-settings-t3106165), it's in a reply he made to his own thread, it's on the first page. Now that all those files are on your phone, use a root text editor (the only one that worked for me is the app QuickEdit) to copy the content of all those files, and replace the content from the files (with the same name) on the folder /etc. Don't replace the files, since that "broke" my phone, just replace the text content of those files with the content of the files you downloaded, that have the same name. Now you have unlocked 60fps on your camera, your photos are now all stored with 100% quality, your audio has a higher volume and it's more surround, and your phone should heat up less.
12. Download the file "init.qcom.post_boot_xxxxxx.zip" (again, the Xs represent whatever the latest version is, choose the biggest number, not the "original" version) from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/tweak-interactive-governor-lag-battery-t3371210). Extract the file and navigate to the folder GhostPepperVx (x=latest version) (you can choose from the other folders if you want, they have different cpu governors, if you want to try another one) then copy the file "init.qcom.post_boot" inside that folder into system/etc. Make sure your phone is not overheated (since that changes things).
13.Wipe dalvik cache with flash fire to cleanup your phone after all the flashes and stuff. There. Now your phone should be better in every way!

The G4 mod changes a lot of things, some things I didn't even like, like the phone dialer and the contacts design, but I'm keeping it because of the rest of the things that come with the mod. I'll list the things I noticed until now: changes (very minor) to the little menu that pops up when you slide down, it adds a button (an engine icon) to access settings faster (was it already there?), and by its side there's a button that redirects you to a menu where you can change "users", not quite sure how that works, the default calling app is completely changed, I think the design changes are from G4. When you insert headphones/usb a little menu pops up, I just checked and apparently it's a feature called "plug and pop apps", one of the apps that is shown by default is the music app. The mod adds a new app to the menu drawer, called "QTheater", not sure what it does yet. Clock app looks unchanged, gallery app has a new icon, but aside from that nothing's changed there. Quickmemo+ seems also unchanged. Music app is... A little different. Kinda uglier, in my opinion, really. Calculator's the same. Camera app is the same. OOH! Never mind, gallery app is so much better, I really can't describe well what I'm seeing here, you'll have to try it out for yourself. Calendar app just changed to color of the (orange or red?) on it to a more orange one. Email app is the same (who uses that app?). Tasks app is the same. Weather app is also the same. Voice recorder is the same. Dunno if Voice Mate app is changed, never paid attention to it. Update center app is the same. Settings app has a dramatic design change. A bunch of new features on the settings app, including a setting for the phone to read messages out loud. Holy moly so many new features in the settings app. I think that's it. Until now I haven't noticed any other differences until now. You can install a module for Xposed to get more g4 tweaks, including the option to record your calls! Sorry if I missed anything.
can it be removed/uninstalled if we do not like it?

I'm not sure but I think so. But I am sure you can always re-flash the 15e image (that'll erase all the mods, and don't worry, it won't erase any of your data, only the mods), and you can follow the guide without installing the mods you don't like, like the g4 tweaks mod.

Looking good!!! Thank you so much for putting all this effort into this. Especially loving all the audio tweaks! Sorry for the late reply, I've been super busy.
Also just got a Galaxy Tab s2 2016 with oem unlock capability (yay).
About Xposed. Xposed for lollipop safemode was disabled due to knox incompatibility, leading to hard issues if you got an Xposed module bootloop. I created a way to fix this. If you want, it could be a nice feature for users I think

Awesome! I will look into this. Also if you get v4a errors be sure to check the change log in the OP to fix it. Furthermore now that the ROM is as final as I can get it I'll be releasing better presets for all audio apps starting with v4a. One last thing let me know if your Galaxy tab has a qcom processor I'd love to help you get an audio engine on it. If it has an Exynos processor I'd really love to test, I've never had that processor so I don't yet know if it is fully capable with all the audio stuff

I have no idea but I would advise against installing this. I made it for locked devices only. If you have full twrp with the capability of installing cyanogenmod etc... Then pick your favorite rom install it then come back here and give me the details so I can get a port of SoundAlive on it and all the other 7 audio apps as well! If you have the time I would love to have you test a port I have been meaning to test, but I dont have a snapdragon chipset with custom rom capability just yet. Also dont install the Galaxy S5's version of SoundAlive. I tried to port it a few days ago. I got the S5's version to process the audio but it doesnt work with all the other apps like the version installed to the Galaxy S4, furthermore I found that with the Galaxy S4 none of the configured libs in the audio_effects.conf file are required to get SoundAlive to process the audio unlike the version on the Galaxy S5. But I'm looking forward to helping you out, so let me know and dont install this rom it may break loki capability.

Turns out there are multiple courses you can go. You can install this but Do Not Flash OK2 Bootloader. But if I had loki I would install marshmallow and then install my latest audio engine for marshmallow found here -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3655177

Awesome, I would like to try it but don't want to lose my Loki capabilities so I won't flash the bootloader. Since I like touch wiz, right now I am running golden eye rom 5.0 lollipop with imperium kernel. I don't have TWRP, but I do have CWM recovery by shabby penguin installed. I know it's old, but still works good.

I heard that flashing anything in Odin breaks Loki!
Honestly I still wouldn't flash this. I would hate for you to lose Loki. Go to my Galaxy S4 HEX FX thread if that's what you interested in. Then flash that on your current ROM. Make sure no other audio mods are installed.

If you still want to try, you will need TWRP to restore system then instead of using Odin to flash install a custom Loki kernel instead. Don't flash the ROM zip that will definitely break Loki and don't Odin anything. If it does boot the custom kernel then go back to what you had and flash the audio engine

Improved Audio on Oreo Custom ROMs (Ainur Sauron)

I am part of the team for Ainur Sauron, and I am here to present improved audio on the Le Max 2. Sauron has a userconfig which can be adjusted. Download the latest from there and place the attached file at /sdcard before installing. Make sure to remove the '.txt' at the end of the file too! Enjoy :victory:
Impedance is currently set to 16Ω which can be changed to whatever you desire. To set edit the attached sauron_useroptions file and change qc.impedance to whatever your headphones impedance is in Ohms multiplied by 1000 (eg. for 22Ω it would be 22000).
Tested by @I_Raptor_I on his x2, if it doesn't work just send me a log
EDIT: Attached the file
I did not know that anyone else was using Ainur Sauron on LeX2 It really improves the audio quality significantly on Oreo!
Quick question - why does it say "Axon 7" during installation procedure?

Hello GaetanoS.89, first things first uninstall the MK II Magisk module. Now place the given text file in /sdcard folder, then go and flash that module again, it should state that it has detected the user options text file and that's it.

Magisk isn't needed as it'll install with any configuration. All you need to do is placed the attched file at /sdcard (called Internal Storage) and rename it to sauron_useroptions (remove the .txt. at the end).

Did it, and after What I have to do?
@Lazerlord: I tried your mod today by described method.
I copied "sauron_useroptions" into sdcard folder by TWRP file explorer.
Afterwards I flashed latest zip (17.03.) using TWRP. Everything was fine with it during this.
Wiped chache and dalvik and rebooted without any problems.
Result: No ringtone anymore, no message sound, but media sound works fine and was adjustable, no app or menue occoured in regard to your mod. I did not check more.
I could succesfully remove your mod by described method (flash again same file from TWRP)
After removal everything was fine as before :good:
My Phone: X829 with latest AEX 8.1 using Magisk 16.0

I removed the "sauron_useroptions" from sdcard folder (as it was described in the file itself, that UO is not mandatory) and reflashed the zip-file again.
With this way everything works !
Will read a little bit the instructions now...
Generaly I have to say I am using Leeco CDLA as headphones atm which are extraordinary by themselves.
So maybe I will use adapter for 3,5mm jack whithin next days and try some user options. Leeco Loadspeaker judgement is difficult imho.
Also new AEX is very good ROM in regard to speaker sound I have to say.
On Oreo 8.1.0. PixelRevenge 15.1 works very well in music playback. He gave me a strange problem. I removed the system camera that I can not install anymore. I had to put another one. I have not tried calls and notifications yet
edit:- Notifications and ringtones ok. In-call audio worsened, the voice is less clear. In speakerphone there is a loud hiss that makes the speakerphone unusable

We're working on a fix for the mixer_paths that'll correct notifications, ringtones, and other audio. I'm happy that you're enjoying music playback. However, the system camera app problem is nothing to do with Sauron it's probably a ROM issue, or possibly even a Magisk issue.
I've installed this Mod by using Magisk 16.0 (v5.6.4) on RR 6.0(22-03-18).
Before I did this I placed the file sauron_useroptions to /sdcard folder.
During the installation Magisk showed that the useroption file was found and used for the installation.
In Poweramp I get the message that there is a problem with app native libraries (libampffmpeg.so).
I don't know whether the error message has something to do with that, but the volume control in Poweramp after flashing this modul is faulty.
Just when the volume is set the half I can hear anything. The volume control steps seems to be broken, but just in Poweramp.(After uninstalling, the issue is gone, but the error message is still sthere)
In other Apps the volume control is normal.
Since I use RR 6.0(8.1) instead of RR 5.8.5(7.1.2) the speaker sounds cheap tinny - Ainur Sauron didn't help to solve this issue. I removed AudioFX, can this be the reason?
It's difficult to describe the issue "cheap tinny", but I think the audio drivers have problems to divorce the difference frequences.
On RR 5.85. the speaker was more "smooth" and the frequences were divorced much better.
Sorry for my bad english and the critic. I think I'm an individual case and other people don't have the problems which I have, but in my case, the Mod seems not to improve the audio quality.

I've heard from @I_Raptor_I that RR already has a loss in audio quality. I advise the use of another ROM and if the tinnyness persists use the attached Sauron zip.
The Poweramp problem is probably due to DVC (Direct Volume Control) in their FAQ they state it may cause issues with 24-bit or HQ audio. The native libraries issue is not related to Ainur as it doesn't touch that file.
About the audio. ROM (which Sauron edits) isn't the only thing that contributes. the HAL and kernel do too, so RR's bad audio may not be able to be fixed or corrected by Ainur but we'll take a look into it.
Ok guys, @LazerL0rd is kindly developing a very nice Oreo kernel for our Le Max 2 improving the speeds dramatically and most importantly audio, he has already optimized our Qualcomm DSP, expect a very nice audio experience on Oreo from now on so stay tuned and make sure to thank LazerL0rd for his hard work, he doesn't even have a Le Max 2 and yet he is spending hours making this kernel for us
Magisk viper?
I have installed viper on RR Oreo via magisk and audio quality is now on point with how it worked through flashing viper and Dolby Atmos on the nugart RR via twrp. There are a couple of things to consider though, viper must be activated before listening to music through your app, viper does not work over Bluetooth by default in viper meaning you must go to viper settings and set mode to compatibility from normal and then viper will work over Bluetooth. The last thing, and I can't remember if this was true on nugart but viper seams to only work with music that you have downloaded to your device and will not work with streaming music from the web.
