Guide On How to Root Sprint stock Marshmallow
1. Download and place on internal storage -- > BETA-SuperSU-v2.68-20160228150503.zip
2. Download custom TWRP beta test version for MM -- > twrp-3.0.0-1-M-test4-nobleltespr.tar.tar
3. Flash TWRP custom recovery with Odin (same instructions as rom flash apply).
Reboot into custom recovery and flash SuperSU and reboot.
You may get a kernel panic on first reboot, just hot boot the phone by holding pwr + volume/down.

Thanks for the reply got it

[Q] CF Auto Root query

I'm pretty confused about the way CF auto root works. some say it breaks OTAs some say it doesn't affect the recovery so it won't break OTAs. can anyone here please explain me if I'll still get OTAs after rooting my all stock 5.0 Nexus 5 by Chainfire's Auto Root method? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No you won't get OTA.
In 4.4, if you had root and stock recovery, you could still get OTA. In 5.0, root makes changes that prevent OTA. on 5.0, ANY changes prevent OTA
oh god no this is bad for me
I really wanted to use this WiFi kill app on my Nexus and now I have to wait for 5.0.1 and then root

Don't worry about it, WiFI kill doesn't work on 5.0 anyway

I'm planning on rooting my 5.0
What if when 5.0.1 rolls out, and I want to update OTA?
How do I unroot my N5 rooted via Chainfire's method?

You need to be full, 100% stock.
I too was rooted with CF and stock recovery.
To be able to sideload the OTA I had to:
1) download and extract the 5.0 factory image
2) fastboot flash boot boot.img
3) fastboot flash system system.img
4) adb sideload The5_0_1OTA.zip
The CF root process modifies one or both of boot and/or system. The 5.0.1 OTA will not apply with these modified.
The above process will not lose data.

By downloading the 5.0.1 factory image in step 1, you could have skipped step 4 :/

I currently have cos12.1 installed along with twrp. Will ota updates still work or would I need to flash stock recovery to receive the ota? Any download links for stock YOG4PAS3JL recovery? Thanks ?

No, OTA won't work since you have TWRP, either reinstall stock recovery to install the OTA or install the signed version of the OTA that will work with TWRP. They are all in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/official-cm11s-roms-ota-updates-t2906746

So just to clarify, I have a 6045I factory global unlocked from Amazon, It has never been rooted, bootloader unlocked, nothing. So would I place on SD and apply update through stock recovery, or is there a different method? Really just want root for adaway and xposed. TWRP would be nice, but not necessary. Just don't want a new paperweight. Thanks!
Can i install twrp to flash thid or stock is fine?
You can try windroid toolkit v3.1.
First u have to unlock bootloader then to flash recovery and supersu .
For me it is not recognising my phone hope u will get success.
If try then pls share ur experience.

For me it got downloaded but showing device either offline or unauthorized
I'd run a full virus /malware scan.... I use 360 Security on mobile devices and PC's. It, along with SUPERAntiSpyware has served me well.

Well the obvious choices are:
1) Use mobile Q to restore to 5.0.2...unlock bootloader, install twrp....upgrade to marshmallow using the modified update.zip that doesn't wipe recovery and finally root using the file mentioned.
or
2) Live with it as it is until someone figures out how to restore fastboot which will probably still require downgrading.

That's the problem. This phone is totally stock with nothing done but the update. I literally charged it, turned it on and 20 minutes later 6.0.1 was nagging for install, which I did. There is now the OEM unlock switch in developing options, but I don't know where to start, or flash.

I have a problem with rooting 6039Y on rom 6.0.1 by persona78. Stock rom 5.0.2 and root working fine. When i flash via TWRP after the update to MM i get this message:
-Cheking patch status
---Already patched, attempting to find stock backup
---Stock restore failed, attempting ramdisk restore
---Ramdisk restore failed, aborting
This solution - echo SYSTEMLESS=true >> /data/.supersu - not working.
Phone was simlock removed via furiousgold, maybe this is a problem?

Anyone tried to flash SuperSU v2.79, the latest version of SuperSU? It supports even Android 7.1. My bootloader is locked and I don't want to void my warranty just yet, as Nougat can't be rooted as of now.

Updating to nougat issue

Please, I am very new here, I got the HTC One A9 2PQ93 from my brother, I saw ota update but it was marshmallow security patch with other features being mentioned, my phone version is 1.10.651.1, when I downloaded the update I tried to install it but I was directed to twrp recovery so I couldn't do the update, the custom recovery was installed before my brother gave me the phone..now I want to install stock recovery but couldn't find HTC One A9 sprint recovery.img ...the custom recovery installed is twrp v2.8.7.0 ..now I have successfully flashed super su zip through this version of twrp v2.8.7.0 and gained root access, since I can't remove the custom recovery and install ota updates...then what custom rom can I install using this version of twrp recovery 2.8.7.0.? My phone in download mode shows "Locked" and S-OFF but in boot loader mode it says "UNLOCKED" and S-OFF so please I want to upgrade my phone either with a custom rom or stock rom so I need your help please.

install a nougat sprint ruu that will restore your phone back to stock including the recovery(you'll loose your data so backup first). then you'll be able to install all ota updates for Nougat.
