Frequently freezes. When listening to music, music will just pause, and when I try to wake the phone, it isn't possible the screen just remains black and buttons are unresponsive. Freezing still occurs even in safe mode. I've tried clearing cache but nothing works.
Had same issue yesterday til i hard reset the phone. MM6.0.1 stock rooted, xposed, busybox, and running some modded kernel. Not really worried it happened once in the few weeks running this. Oh i was using MXplayer watching a movie.

Alright so here's some background info first:
Verizon Galaxy S3, OTA'd to VRBLK3, rooted/unlocked using this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439), phone is pretty much stock other than TWRP recovery and the phone is rooted. I also froze only a few Verizon/Touchwiz apps. I've had the phone only for a few weeks now and rooted/unlocked since the OTA to VRBLK3. I've had zero issues after root.
Now onto the problem at hand:
I went to reboot my phone today after a browser freeze up and noticed a song playing when the phone booted up. It didn't go away... as I was going through App Processes looking for something that stood out as to what and why this song was playing and found nothing. Pulled down the notification bar and it stopped. Questioning what it was I went into ringtones and found out it was playing "Over the Horizon" ringtone... Rebooted again to see if it was just a fluke and again it played the song when the phone started up... This time the pull down of the notification bar didn't stop the music like I had thought. Pulled the battery and turned on the phone again to only hear the music start up again... The notification pull down stopped the music again and I've just left it alone and it hasn't started again.
I'm just wondering if anyone else ran into this issue or if anyone has any insight as to how this happened. Mind you, I've been running my current setup of installed apps/settings for weeks with no issue on reboots. Now I've got a song that plays non stop whenever I reboot my phone... Other than a full wipe and starting all over any suggestions???
Here is a quick video I just made with the issue:
*** Please excuse the desktop/lockscreen wallpapers lol they are SFW btw ***
** Also, if you hear crickets in the background... its my lizards food lol **
* Finally, sorry for sidways view... first time youtuber lol *
Wipe Dalvic and cache in recovery and reboot.
Wiped delvik and cache ... no dice. After the apps optimized the music started right up again... rebooted again just to be sure and it still plays the music

Hmm tried deleting the audio file and it still plays on system start up ... I have no idea where the file is and why it plays

I am having this exact same issue today. It is playing the stock boot up sound but it doesn't stop. I can use the phone fine but this music just keeps playing.
Any luck on solving the issue? I suddenly started to have the same problem.
Me too, on a verizon s5.
Same here. Tmobile s5
For me, it seems to be the battery full notification sound.
I can also confirm that it is linked to the notification volume.

Ok, so I noticed that it started after I updated some xposed framework modules. I uninstalled xposed and rebooted. It's now stopped.
Anyone else?

Sometimes Xposed and Wanam modules don't play well even when they aren't installed together. A lot of times its just a rogue module that interacts with another app or process.

If you go into the thread for gravitybox kk, this issue is actually addressed. They posted an apk that should fix that bug
Hey
Whenever I open up a media player on the phone or just youtube, and i either turn the volume up or down, it pauses the playback, can anyone tell me what could be causing this? Its been happening to both me and my girlfriends One Mini since we did the latest OTA update, and ive tried pretty much everything i could think of to get rid off it, but no luck
Have you tried a factory reset? I heard this fixed another issue related to Bluetooth. If you do remember to BACKUP.

xposed?
do you have xposed framework installed and sense 5 toolbox? maybe try looking in there, also what rom are you running
Just a statement / is this just me.
First crash was this morning. Was playing music on my headphones, always-on screen was being displayed. Music continued to play but none of the buttons did anything and the clock was stuck. I had to hard reboot by holding down the vol down, home, and power buttons.
Second crash was tonight. Watching Youtube video, audio went into a continuous tone, and after 10 seconds the phone rebooted itself.
My S6 never crashed like this requiring a hard reboot. Hell even going through S3, S4, andS5 I never had a crash. Is Marshmallow just shaky?
I've had my phone for almost 10 days and haven't experienced anything like that. Try a factory reset? Maybe there is an app you downloaded that hasn't been updated for MM.
I've had mine for almost a week now and haven't encountered this at all
Still crashes 2-3 times per day, every day. despite my best efforts to disable apps to try to figure out what the problem is. I'm going to try a factory reset + restore. If that doesn't work, it's going back to Verizon or Samsung as defective. I'm guessing either the cloud restore + Smart Switch running in parallel screwed something up, or the hardware itself is physically defective.
It's incredibly disappointing. OS should never be this unreliable regardless of the apps being run on it.

This is what I experienced few days back with Nova Launcher( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1UChZaaw58 ), it was the the culprit. Turning accessibility OFF fixed it!
Boot into safe mode and observe if you encounter it again.
I had the same problem with my s7 while playing music through Samsung player It froze on AOD . Hard Rebooted it , removed the Samsung music player

My S7 came even without Samsung Music Player. I had to manually install it. I think we have the ones with the least bloat available.
I updated my GS7 from marsh to nougat 7.0 last week, since then I have experienced a unresponsive black screen multiple times, ussaly happens if playing music and turning off the screen, when hitting home or power to turn back on the screen stays black, the captive buttons have light up, but it takes 30 seconds of hitting the buttons for the screen to finnaly kick on, a few times it has done this just from locking home screen, no apps running, screen won't wake up! What could be causing this and what can I do to fix it. Any help is appreciated.

Actually, I have the same issue, and I have the SM-G930F.
I updated yesterday to 7.0 via Samsung Smart Watch, then did a factory reset and even cleared dalvik cache.
Prior to that I ran rooted 6.0.1.
Any suggestions, what might be causing this? And any other solution than to factory reset?

I tryed a few diffrent players, it does it with all of them, Slacker, mp3 player, even YouTube Red, so can rule out a music app, I am running Nova launcher how ever I don't think it related to that. I have cleared cache and restarted and the problem still happend today... I'm thinking factory reset but really hate to do that, also thinking att store since they broke my phone with this update and still under warranty. Any other ideas?

Hi mate
What I would do is flash stock rom again using CSC files to reset all partitions , do not install any of my apps and observe the phone for a day or two ...if everything is ok start installing my apps.....if problem comes back...then the issue may be one of the apps
Hi all.
Is there a known issue with the latest "standard application updates" that may cause the system crashing and rebooting?
I dont know if there is such a thing like "event log" in android to help tracing the error im getting since today.
First time was while I was playing Mortal Kombat X Mobile, game went unresponsive, screen black, charge led was flashing strangely and very short, almost unrecognizable. Now this could perfectly happen just on the homescreen.
Occurs once in a while, Id say almost every 1-2 hours.
Have the latest stock rom , patched, rooted and some minor debloating. Havent touched the system for weeks, everything was perfectly fine, this is the first day it is not.
So if anyone can give me a hint on how to find whats wrong , that would be great.
Guess I'm not the only one! I've been having the same exact problem since yesterday too!

There is logcat. You're rooted, so it's fine. You can also pull logcat logs via adb. However these logs are cleared once the phone reboots.
I've been having heating issues, very fast battery drain and my camera went back to taking green pictures . It was beacause of updating magisk. I uninstalled it and reflashed the 14v and it is back to normal. I'd recommend seeing if that is the problem

I still have 14.5 installed while it tells me 15.3 is the latest.
No overheating (at least nothing that could be felt on the outside) , camera works as it should.
Did a shutdown and restart, device didnt crash over night, now after its been used for 30minutes, it crashed while reading the news within chrome....
Maybe some kind of Spectre/Meltdown countermeasure patch which affects stability?
Really cant need that as I use my phone for 24/7 support
Just found out that I didn't have the latest build. Was on 47.1.A.5.51 probably.....
Now on 47.1.A.8.49 , still rooted , restored almost everything what has been installed before, so far it has been crash-free since 1-2 hours. If it doesn't crash within the next 24hours , i'll put the simcard back.
