Anyone Using an Unlocked Exynos S7 or S7 Edge on Tmobile or Metro PCS ? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I am very interested in using the Exynos S7 on Metro PCS/ Tmobile due to about 20% better battery life.
What I will get is 1 hour or more of SOT compared to Snapdragon.
What I will lose ( probably ) is*
VoLTE - this means you have fast [LTE ] Internet while on a call- great for business customers.
Those using Exynos Phones in USA..
1) Do you have simultaneous Voice and Data ?
2) What Band is your Phone on while on the Internet during a Call? H+ is quite fast IF the phone stays there.
IF the phone drops to 3G during calls the Internet will be slow.
A) Why do I need Voice and Internet simultaneously ?
Business Calls -when you need to reference something Online during a call.
B) It was amazing to me a few years back how few people knew what VoLTE is - (voice and data on LTE= simple) Metro PCS was one of the very first to have it back in 2012 which is one of the reasons Tmobile bought Metro.
C) VoLTE USUALLY requires specific Carrier Software (and a VoLTE capable Device)- so not transferable from one Carrier to another - Android was going to include it as Standard Option in Android BUT this never happened.
So Exynos Users S7 or S7 Edge in USA how is simultaneous Voice and Data working for you?

About VOLTE, while it is not enabled by default on unbranded handsets (phones using CSC such as: XEF, BTU, DBT,XOA...), you can flash a carrier ROM CSC (one from a carrier that handles VOLTE, like BOG) and the feature will be enabled after a factory reset of the phone, the feature once unlocked can be used on any carrier and does not require any specific carrier software to work
1) Yes it does, that's part of the WCDMA standard, however if you are connected to a LTE network that does not handle VOLTE or if the VOLTE feature is not enabled on the phone, it will use CS callback and drop from LTE to HSPA for the duration of the call
2) During CS fallback, the phone uses "H+" (which is really Dual Carrier HSPA)

Where can you get flashable csc? Am I chasing Unicorn here?
Btw OP i am currently using 64GB version of Samsung Galaxy S7 from Korea - g930s.
It stays at H+ during the call.

Verizon Galaxy Note 5 on Reliance Network in India?

I have a Galaxy Note 5 from Verizon and will be going to India soon. Is there any way to get this phone to work with Reliance which is a CDMA network in India? I'm moving, so I'm going to disconnect Verizon when I leave.
No idea
According to this website, yes:
http://willmyphonework.net/
Verizon phones are not SIM/carrier locked, so as long as you settle up with them (so they don't blacklist your device's IMEI), you should be able to take it to pretty much any carrier, whether it's CDMA or GSM.
You may or may not get a 4G data connection depending on what the carrier supports, but phone calls & texts should work with no difficulty. For instance, popping an AT&T SIM card in a Verizon Note 5 will get you phone calls, text messages, and limited 4G support (in my area I can only get it to connect to HSPA+).
You may need to manually program in the appropriate APN settings for the carrier you're trying to use it on.

Note 5 on Canadian GSM network

I am in Canada on Rogers/Fido network. I bought a Sprint note 5, it works OK in my house but loses signals at various other locations. is there any way this could be fixed?
Short answer: nope.
Longer answer: You probably already know that the N920P supports only some of the LTE bands in use in Canada, specifically for Fido/Rogers it's only one of them. In practice, having used both an N920P and a N920W8 on Fido, while the W8 shows a way better signal most of the time, when the cell is congested it doesn't really feel any different. I don't know why this is exactly, but as an example - on the train platforms in Union Station, the Sprint phone would show no connection/poor connection and the Canadian phone would show a good connection. On either phone, transfer speeds are reduced to a trickle.
P.S. if you don't already have it, Package Disabler Pro can get rid of the stupid Sprint activation screen every time you power cycle the phone

[Q] SM-G995FD on Freedom Mobile LTE

I have been trying to get my LTE working on my Samsung S8+ SM-G955FD with Freedom mobile. I have updated the CSC to XAC and GLW from the development forums and the phone will not connect to LTE at all. However flashing it to tmobiles CSC I was able to get LTE as it uses the same band 66. I initially got LTE by selecting the network operator "Home" once I lose connection from LTE to 4G it will not automatically reconnect back to LTE unless I select the network operator again. Any suggestions on fixing this?
Same issue with Reliance JIO (India) using VO LTE. Seems the phone does not support it either (the 6GB Ram Model)
up!
my 3g does work but lte not always!
I found this article around flashing csc, it seems like it's proven to work when they are the same model eg both g950w.

I would like to ask if you rooted your phone and changed the CSC as per instructions given in the Droidview website?
If you did, and the results were not satisfactory, then you would have tripped Knox, but gained little.
I am in the same situation, and am considering rooting the phone to try the method in Droidview.
Thanks.
I got s8+ from freedom and trust me I absolutely hate their reception. On a drive home or from I get interruptions of voice call for 5+min (highway drive) in some areas. Anywhere in US call reception is hit or miss. In Canada isnt always great other. Now for LTE well, it ok if you catch LTE signal. Allot of the times im on 4g. Speed are very slow. If im lucky I get LTE. So i don't know whether its the service or the phone but im not happy. I'll pay of this phone and move back to FIDO or on US network. Freedom is garbage to me. Im all over the city, country and north america - freedom isnt great for me. Fido was excellent but i didnt get any credit on the phones, in US fido rates are very high.

Unlocked J327A on T-Mobile: can I enable VoLTE and wifi calling?

I just got an unlocked Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) J327A from Amazon. This is an unlocked version of an AT&T prepaid phone. My T-Mobile SIM works OK with it. But: (1) VoLTE is not enabled, meaning T-Mobile will not work on 700 MHz Band 12 (which is the whole reason I got this phone, we don't have coverage here on any other band) and (2) wifi calling is greyed out and unavailable.
I had not realized there is more to switching between carriers than just "locked" or "unlocked", because there are different features beyond the basics that are either supported or not supported, and it turns out that having either VoLTE and/or Wifi Calling is pretty much essential for me now.
I'm an utter newbie regarding firmware mods. Is there any hope of changing the firmware on this model to enable VoLTE on T-Mobile and/or wifi calling on T-Mobile? A quick search of this forum only found complaints about seeing a "Wierd VoLTE icon" when they rooted their J327T phone. Which to me actually seems hopeful. The update guides I've seen all warn that firmware must be loaded only into the exact model number called out. Not sure if that means just "J327" or for example "J327x"
My question is: can you change an Unlocked J327A (supporting AT&T features) to a J327T (supporting T-Mobile features) by software tools? Or are there hardware differences, or at least serial-number-based locks to prevent that?
Would like to do the same thing, any luck?

VOLTE On TMobile & ATT?

will volte work out the box for TMobile ? They won't activate phones on their network after a while if they don't support VOLTE.... Or any plans to update it in the near future. When will this go on sale in North America?

I am currently on T-mo, it doesn't do VoLTE currently, I know its possible via root and changing parameters. ALSO they just enabled VoLTE for their ROG phone 3 via an update so I will assume they will probably do the same for the ZF7, if not I will have to root it.
I asked an asus rep about sale in NA and they didn't have an answer from marketing team, so I bought mine on eBay
I'm beginning to think they will sell in in america especially if they enable volte for TMobile like they did the rog 3. I'm waiting to see if they enable volte on the 6 and the 7.
And then there's the OnePlus 8T coming in going to weigh my optione

This guy apparently has VoLTE already on his phone, unsure how though.
Will this work on att in the states? Also which model if so?
ATT will ONLY work upto 3g. You will see an H on top the signal bar which indicates a Enhanced 3g speed also know as HSPA speed connection. I have tried 2 new sim cards. I have tried several APN's I have tried all updates and a reset. No 4G and no 5G on ATT. Unless someone can tell me something new, this phone will not FULLY work on ATT. Text works. Calls work. Internet is sort of hit and miss with decent signal but again rather slow.
T Mobile will ONLY work upto 4g. No Volte although it seems to have the capability of Volte it cant not work with Tmobile Volte because it seems the cell bands are not compatible. Text work. Internet works rather fast, Good solid signal however no 5G and no Volte due to incompatible cell bands.
I did research on this subject and found that the ATT cell bands for everything including 5G do seem to be compatible with the 7 pro but again, it does not FULLY work oddly
I also did research on Tmobile cell bands and the bands for 5G are not even close to being compatible. Volte is also non compatible. 4g is compatible and works..
THIS IS MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE TODAY AS I PURCHASED A SIM FROM EACH PROVIDER ( THIS IS A DUAL SIM PHONE) AND PLACED THEM BOTH IN THE PHONE.. I DID EXTENSIVE RESEARCH>>>
IF ANYONE CAN GET THE PHONE TO DO 4G or 5G ID APPRECIATE THAT INFO>>
ASUS NEEDS TO DO AN UPDAT FAST BEFORE PEOPLE START TO RETURN THIS DEVICE. THIS AGE IS ALL ABOUT 5 G.. THIS PHONE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH USA. I DO NOT SEE HOW AN UPDATE WILL FIX THE PROBLEM SINCE THE PHONE IS ONLY PHYSICALLY CABLE OF A SPECIFIC SET OF BANDS WHICH ARE NOT NOT NOT THE SAME AS USA BANDS
