Bluetooth keeps disconnecting - Samsung Gear S2

Just picked up a standard Gear S2 and updated the firmware. However, it's constantly disconnecting and reconnecting to my Galaxy S7 edge. Bluetooth stays connected for all my other devices. Any tips?

I'm having the same issue with my S2 Classic, but I've got a SGS7. Both are running stock software/firmware. My issue started a couple days ago, so I'm thinking an update was applied to something that introduced this issue. I am hopeful it will be fixed in a future update (sooner than later).

How often is yours disconnecting? Mine was every few minutes. Today it's been flawless. Weird.

I have the same problem and it is very annoying, bluetooth keeps disconnecting from my car, specially during calls and then tries to reconnect again. This never happened to me before in any smartphone so this is a specific problem from the S7. I tried clean cache etc. but the problem continues. Sometimes the call can go 15 minutes without disconnecting, other times it disconnects 2 times in 5 minutes, but it happens everyday twice at least. This is a very strange problem, can't find any solution. It is driving me nuts specially in a 700 euros phone!!

not only on S7
It's the same here with a Gear S2 Classic and a Huawei P8max. A few minutes after being connected (manually) the Gear disconnects.

I just switched over from my S7 edge to a Moto Maxx I had in a drawer - no disconnects today. Gonna swap out my S7 Edge for a replacement I guess.

Replacement didn't disconnect until I switched on high accuracy GPS. When I switch GPS over to power saving, the disconnects stop (so far).
Anyone else noticed a correlation with high accuracy GPS being turned on and frequent Bluetooth disconnects?

After working with three different S7's (2 edge's and one regular) as well as a Droid Maxx, I found that the phones would regularly disconnect when I had High Accuracy GPS set to on (with disconnects occurring multiple times per hour). If I switched the phones to power-saving GPS, disconnects would never occur.
Not sure why this would be but I don't recall it happening before the latest S2 update. I have always used High Accuracy GPS because I use the Tile app which requires it....HOWEVER, the disconnects were SO irritating, I guess I'd rather lose my keys and/or wallet because I turned the GPS to power saving to eliminate the disconnects because it was SOOOOO annoying.

PROBLEM FIXED -Bluetooth on gears2 /note 5 keeps disconnecting
Hi guys,i'm new to this forum. Came across it a few days ago when i needed assistance. I have been wearing my gear s2 classic and note 5 for approx. a year now . As of last week it kept disconnecting and connecting every five minutes which became really frustrating. I was missing important calls and message as my phone is on silent and gear on vibrate mode. After trying numerous attempts of clearing the Bluetooth cache and even hard reset watch and phone twice . It still did the same. I contacted my buddy over at Samsung headquaters is South africa to confirm my warranty date on my note 5. Thats how far i was heading, to return the headset for a new one. Luckily my warranty expires in October 2017. He then advised me the following
1) Check gear software updated - My gear was updated.
2)Check phone software updated- My phone was not updated.
So i got down to doing the update, size was around 1.4 GB
A fast WiFi connection will take approx. 15 minutes.
Had this done 2 days ago
Problem solved :good:
Phone looks and feel way better with the updated software and Gear has not disconnected since then.
Hope this helps.
Please share .

I'm starting to suspect it's a problem with my S7 Edge. I had the Gear S2 connected to a Nexus 6P for a couple months and never encountered connection problems. It's only since I switched to the S7 that I started getting the sporadic disconnects. I've tried changing my GPS settings but there doesn't appear to be a low power mode on the S7 edge with 6.0.1 stock so I just kicked down to the basic GPS only and turned off wi-fi and bluetooth location.
Not impressed so far.

also happens on S8+, but not on Note4
This is happening on my S8+ also.
It also doesn't work properly with my car radio and microphone (I can receive calls well enough, but issuing voice commands is a nightmare).
I had the Gear S2 and car radio connected to my Note4 before. They worked perfectly.
I will try lowering the Location accuracy. In any case, looking forward to upgrading to Note8 in a few months when my S8+ contract ends.

Bluetooth problems?

So I got my edge 2 days ago and I have it paired to my LG tones Infiniums and my LG watch R. Every so often my watch disconnects and my tones do as well. The tones reconnect instantly but I have to turn the Bluetooth off and on just to reconnect my watch. I had no problems having the two set up with my s5.
Anyone else experiencing any similar issues with their bluetooth?
I have a VZW edge and have experienced similar issues with Bluetooth dropping (all 4 of my) connections. I read an article about clearing BT apps cache and/or wiping the phones cache partitions. Neither have worked.
I have my Plantronics BT earpiece connected & the connection has never dropped off.

bluetooth drop
I have the s6. Bluetooth drops and reconnects to my headphones, g watch r and car. Did not have any problems with the HTC M8.
I'm having the same problem with a Galaxy S6 (non-edge) with a 2014 Honda Odyssey. Used bluetooth for a year with this vehicle with an S3 without any issues. Now, the S6 constantly disconnects and reconnects, shows call history from 4 months ago, or gets into such a state that bluetooth is so wedged that only a reboot of car and device will get it to re-pair.
I've found a number of threads searching online. This is not just a Sprint problem. Verizon S6s have similar issues. Not sure if this is a hardware problem or an Android problem...
I've got the same problem with my S6. Connection drops constantly with my G watch R and my car.
I had the Galaxy Alpha before the S6 and it connected perfectly to both my watch and car.
Pretty frustrating.
I've had some luck with clearing cache for Bluetooth and Bluetooth test in app manager. I can keep connections all day long without drops, but i still have the weird call history problem.

Bluetooth bad? S6 Edge

Anyone else having Bluetooth issues? My wife just upgraded to a new S6 Edge 64gb from an S4. She continually complains about the Bluetooth dropping, and sounding all garbled up. Especially in areas where the S4 used to work. Anyone else have similar experiences?
nope
Yes, had the same a while back. Reset helped so far

Yes. OMG it's horrible.
Turning off/on BT fixes it for a while.
I'm hoping a future update addresses the issue.
Mine is terrible compared to my old S3. I have it paired to the radio on my bike so I can stream while I ride. My S3 was solid, good sound quality, never dropped in and out and I could walk about 20-25 feet away without any interruption. Now with my new "upgrade" to the S6, I can barely get 5 feet away from the radio before the signal completely drops out and I get a lot of stuttering and dropping in and out while I am just sitting on the bike. Re-setting the BT and re-pairing everything fixes it for about 2 minutes if I am lucky.
In the end I really don't like the BT capability of the S6 at all compared to my phone from 3 year old technology.
Install the new rom and check if it helps

I'll try that and see if it helps. will post a follow up after a couple of days.
I was told by Samsung that the S6 has a newer version of Bluetooth which is not always compatible with older bluetooth versions in cars etc. They suggested seeing if there was an update for the radio firmware in our vehicle. Well, we have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and the dealer says there are no updates at this time. I did try AT&T's suggestion which was to wipe the phone and factory reset it and start over. Tomorrow my wife will test it on her way to work again and see if its any better. If neither of those options work aT&T said I can opt for a warranty replacement.
I was doing some house work tonight and found that the audio would skip when I was any more than about 10 feet away from my speaker.
I can walk to the end of my back yard with my Optimus G with out problems (about 200 feet).
?

Bluetooth range (and WIFI stability)

Hi, I make my comparisons versus my Gear 2 and just what seems reasonable.
With my Gear 2 I could be in another room in the house, a good 15 meters away and no issues, with the S2 (especially with the new function of vibrate on disconnect) it constantly drops when I move room even sometimes for no reason.
Also setup the WIFI option as a backup but again half the time it shows the WIFI signal as poor and I am sat right near the router, which is working 100% fine with everything else (i.e. mobile, laptops, tablets, tv.)
i get the same, bluetooth just disconnects , don't know why. also bluetooth music earphones cut out and range poor
I have exactly the same range problem on galaxy s6 edge plus with all bluetooth devices.
It's shocking , if Samsung don't fix these issues soon , will switch to fist android wear device with lte , there lucky the urbane 2nd got discontinued
A hard reset helped but still disappointing

Choppy bluetooth

All of a sudden I've been having bluetooth issues. The range of the bluetooth is very weak for my headphones. It is barely 2 feet. And if it's not in a direct line of sight the playback is very choppy. The range extends if i turn off the wifi - but it's nowhere near what it was before having this issue. My Gear 2 began to constantly connect and reconnect as well. But I'm thinking this only happened at home when the phone's wifi was turned on. It stopped happening once I turned the wifi off (but the range doesn't seem to be as far as it used to be). All of this just started happening today and I've had the phone for a little over a month (all bluetooth devices connected since day one). Ive been looking for solutions and tried clearing the phone's cache, the bluetooth's data and cache and unpairing all of the devices. Can anybody else offer any other suggestions? I'm really trying to avoid having tmobile replace it as i do not want to receive a reburbished model.
ANy luck. I have this issue too. I also notice its tied to random wifi drop outs as well
Posts around the net and other Note 5 forums here are saying it's related to the latest update Samsung released.
Wireless charging not staying connected
I also am experiencing that the wireless charging is not staying connected. I am using the samsung wireless charger and never had a problem before. But my family is not having a problem with their note 5. This is leading me to believe that it is not due to the latest update.
Just call T-Mobile and explain the situation, there is a service bulletin that their techs are aware of. Request for a replacement. Make you backup all your apps and data before your replacement arrives. I tried to Odin back to stock and this still didn't fix my bluetooth problem, luckily i had my Nexus 6 that i could pop my T-Mobile sim in and bluetooth is great now.

I'll probabably wind up having to do that. But I'll hold out hope that it's a software issue (I'm really trying to avoid getting a refurbished replacement). What's interesting is today as I was going to work I didn't experience any of these problems (phone was in pocket and no bluetooth dropouts on headset or gear 2 watch). Placed my phone on a wireless charger at work (a Choetech fast charger) and didn't have any problems. I'm probably reaching but now I'm wondering if there is something going on in my house that is spooking my phone:laugh:: I'm going to monitor it throughout the day and see what happens once I get home.
edit: spoke to soon as my headset disconnected (although watch hasn't - yet)

What's a nexus 6?
T-Mobile sent me a brand new replacement phone not a refurbished phone. This was a brand new model in the original box with all the accessories. I downloaded all the updates and my Bluetooth is back! The replacement phone was on update COI5 by the way.

Note 5, Gear S2 Classic: Bluetooth connection cycling

I have a Note 5 and a Samsung Gear S2 Classic. The bluetooth connection between them, at times, is very intermittent. Sometimes, the connection stays rock solid for hours.
Sometimes, it disconnects, I reconnect using the Gear app, and it disconnects again as soon as I put the phone to sleep. I'll cycle through this four or five times, then it finally stays connected. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason, since it has occasionally disconnected with the phone awake and the Gear app on screen. Oh, and it isn't a range problem unless 3 feet is too far between them.
Samsung support walked me through a factory reset of the watch and uninstall/reinstall of the gear app, but it didn't resolve the problem...trying to find enough time to once again be online with them.
Prior to the Gear S2, I had a Pebble Time, which never lost connection.
Android version 5.1.1
Gear S2 version R732XXU2AOJ3
Hi,
have you found any solution to your problem yet? I encounter exactly the same one with a Honor 7.
I got both my phone and watch one week ago and connexion is most often lost as soon as the smartphone goes asleep. This makes my gear S2 classic absolutly unuseable for notifications and connected functions (which is the main reason I bought the watch for, I would have bought a normal watch if I just needed to get the time :crying.
For information, my honor is based on a Lollipop 5.0.2 OS.
Thanks for your help.
I can tell you that I have the Gear S2 and Note 5 and there is no issue at all with mine, so it is not a compatibility thing at all. There may be some issue with your gear s2 or note 5
