[Q] will rom files designated for the i9300 work on U.S. Carriers?

I can find many rom files for the international version for the s3 but not for the u.s. version. I am looking to flash the paranoid android rom.

NO. The international version is a totally different device from the US version, the international phone (i9300) has Samsung Exynos hardware inside, the US version uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon hardware. You can find a version of Paranoid Android for the Verizon S3 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858298.

If it has a Snapdragon processor, the bootloader can not be unlocked, and you can not flash TWRP, nor any custom ROMs.
With that said, I'm a bit puzzled by your description of your device. On the attached varients list, I don't see a "hk" version, and the only 6GB ram version is the G955FD which has an Exynos processor. Is that what you have?

OK. Apparently the "O" does have an unlockable bootloader and is a Snapdragon as you indicated, and there is a version of TWRP available for it (https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ecovery-twrp-galaxy-s8-s8-snapdragon-t3636718).
You'll have to research ROMs, though. I do not know if there are any that support this variant.

S8+ Roms 'scene'

Hey guys, I am planning on getting the S8+ and Ive been looking around Xda for Roms for it but there are not a lot of them(stable neither) so my question is why are there not so many Roms and how is the future looking? I always root my phones and like to experiment, so should I buy it?
Thanks in advance, Ray

I live in Germany so which ever one is sold here (european)
If you like testing ROMs go with OnePlus 5T, i'm also thinking about switching.
OnePlus 5T is a good choice if you want to use developer apps and sideload mods, tweaks, roms.. etc.
I think if you go with a Exynos processor S8(international variant) you should be ok, as is it has been rooted fully already.
Check this post out for a list of different S8+ variants.

The Snapdragon processor hasn't been fully rooted like the Exynos version. So make sure you get the right model for your location.

Not that it matters in this case but your statement is not accurate. We do have root and it's stable. What we don't have is an unlocked bootloader which the Exynos version DOES have.

Quite so. If you didn't already do it you could head over to Cross Dev or the S8+ ROM forums and see what's available there.
Presently the vast majority are modded Touchwiz-based ROMs, which are quite excellent and offer great customization/battery life etc. If you are specifically keen on LOS-based (or other non-Touchwiz) ROMs there are very few under development, but it seems like quite a way to go yet.

[?] 80% threshold charge limit on rooted S8+

Hello,
I need to obtain some clear information regarding the 80% limit charging.
I own a Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus SM-G955F (EU), and I'm about to unlock its bootloader in order to root it.
Question : does the 80% limit apply to the Snapdragon (US) or Exynos (EU) or both model ?
Does this limit also apply to newer Samsung devices (s9, note 9,s10,note 10)?
THANKS

As far as I know the 80% charge limit applies to Snapdragon ( US ) models.when rooted. The Exynos version does not have this limitation.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, but it seems that this concerns Verizon S8+ phones, so US version, so Snapdragon One.... Am I Right ?
For record, I own a eu s8+ powered by an Exynos chip

Well snapdragon Samsungs that America variant (second hand)like XXXXU, XXXXT, XXXXU1, XXXXT1, XXXXP can not unlock bootloader and hence cannot flash roms. Only XXXX0 does the job.
Xiaomis are fine if you have patience to wait 7 days for bootloader unlock.
I have no idea about realme phones as I do not buy them.
Famous exynoses are also supported like the 'unkillable' Galaxy S II I9100.
ya but you know how hard is exynos to develop any ways it depends.................
The commom agreement is Huaweis, especially those released after 2018-06, are out of the selectable list.

because unlock bootloader forbidden Offical way and can be only done unofficially with patch below 2018-06
Most important for me is: Root, Privacy, VoLTE and VoWiFi (and I love LineageOS)

then blacklist GSI roms only devices like J7 Pro(j730) as those broken volte and some even sim
blacklist old phone like S II too as those probably does not even support lte.

Privacy means for me = AFWall+, AdAway + that I can set permissions for the apps, i.e. the LineageOS is already enough for me, that already brings a lot with it
