Hi all,
I'm searching for a good smartphone which uses non-stock ROM and supports VoLTE / VoWiFi and I want to keep privacy, so root is needed
Which experience do you have and which smartphone you can recommend to me?
Thank you!
it seems you are Indian right,
secondly, what is your budget and expectation in terms of specs of smart phones.
please elaborate about your budget and expectations on specs of mobile.

realme phones have good developer support (if its a famous one)
alternatively you can use samsung phones with sanpdragon remember exynos variants have less support

Well snapdragon Samsungs that America variant (second hand)like XXXXU, XXXXT, XXXXU1, XXXXT1, XXXXP can not unlock bootloader and hence cannot flash roms. Only XXXX0 does the job.
Xiaomis are fine if you have patience to wait 7 days for bootloader unlock.
I have no idea about realme phones as I do not buy them.
Famous exynoses are also supported like the 'unkillable' Galaxy S II I9100.
ya but you know how hard is exynos to develop any ways it depends.................
The commom agreement is Huaweis, especially those released after 2018-06, are out of the selectable list.

because unlock bootloader forbidden Offical way and can be only done unofficially with patch below 2018-06
Most important for me is: Root, Privacy, VoLTE and VoWiFi (and I love LineageOS)

then blacklist GSI roms only devices like J7 Pro(j730) as those broken volte and some even sim
blacklist old phone like S II too as those probably does not even support lte.

Privacy means for me = AFWall+, AdAway + that I can set permissions for the apps, i.e. the LineageOS is already enough for me, that already brings a lot with it

Hey guys, I am planning on getting the S8+ and Ive been looking around Xda for Roms for it but there are not a lot of them(stable neither) so my question is why are there not so many Roms and how is the future looking? I always root my phones and like to experiment, so should I buy it?
Thanks in advance, Ray

I live in Germany so which ever one is sold here (european)
If you like testing ROMs go with OnePlus 5T, i'm also thinking about switching.
OnePlus 5T is a good choice if you want to use developer apps and sideload mods, tweaks, roms.. etc.
I think if you go with a Exynos processor S8(international variant) you should be ok, as is it has been rooted fully already.
Check this post out for a list of different S8+ variants.

The Snapdragon processor hasn't been fully rooted like the Exynos version. So make sure you get the right model for your location.

So if I get the Exynos version I can install custom roms like stock etc? Although I'm not seeig a lot of them in tjia forum to download and install...

Not that it matters in this case but your statement is not accurate. We do have root and it's stable. What we don't have is an unlocked bootloader which the Exynos version DOES have.

Quite so. If you didn't already do it you could head over to Cross Dev or the S8+ ROM forums and see what's available there.
Presently the vast majority are modded Touchwiz-based ROMs, which are quite excellent and offer great customization/battery life etc. If you are specifically keen on LOS-based (or other non-Touchwiz) ROMs there are very few under development, but it seems like quite a way to go yet.

Correct.
Wrong thread. If it gets unlockable bootloader maybe Treble might help with the roms.
You shouldn't have bought a mediatek phone in the first place with the ideas of being a power user.

are you a power user? I mean do you root your devices?
Should I buy this phone because I prefer rooting devices and flashing ROMs when the OEM updates cease to exist or when the phones becomes bogged down by the useless and sometimes harmful OEM services running in the background.
What do you suggest? Should One buy this phone if needs to have an option to be able to root the device (which requires unlockable bootloader and the company Mediatek to release kernel sources which is technically legally requires as per GPL licence.
I HATE MEDIATEK for this that they do not release kernel source codes and the mail responses on the other thread indicates that THEY ARE STUPID too.

This phone is from oppo, it will probably never receive an unlockable bootloader. Just ignore any phone with mediatek processor no matter what they say they offer.
Any phone with mtk chipset are terrible, just that this phone offers good enough value for the price you would have to pay. The gpu is crap just like on every other phone with mediatek chipset, the phone has a version of colour os as the software, and they say that they would provide android P as an update, which I really don't see it coming anytime in the next year.

I will NEVER purchase any Mediatek device EVER.

Sorry if this question is quiet irrelevant to the section
But there is a new Galaxy skin in fortnite just for Note 9 and Tab S4 users
is there anyway to fool how they check the device version so I can appear to them as note 9 users instead of s8+ So I can take the skin without having to pay a 1000$ Mobile

If you have root, you can change /system/build.prop to spoof your S8+ as a Note 9. The problem is, no one knows the codename for the Note 9 (Although it is rumoured to be "crownlte" and "SM-N960F"). Even people who have gotten their hands on Note 9s early can't get the skin on their account until official release. That's probably when it should work.

I play Fortnite with my rooted S8. In essence what you need to do is disable USB debugging and use Magisk hide on the Fortnite app and installer, then hide Magisk Manager and use Magisk core. (Delete the MagiskManager folder in internal storage if necessary). And that's how you play Fortnite with root.

No. All our firmware are 4 part files. It contains one file a csc which is all carrier info.
Hello Everyone!
I'm currently trying to decide whether to get the Honor Note 10, or the Xiaomi Mi Max 3. While the former clearly shows strength in terms of processing power, design etc., the later one has a major advantage in software due to it having treble support.
Hence, if I may ask to those of you who already have the phone, is the device treble enabled? I currently have my OnePlus 5 running Android Pie because of treble, and I would like to have my secondary phone be as flexible as well! I am highly aware that the bootloader unlock requires a paid service, but a few dollars for having barebones AOSP roms would be something I look forward to.
Thank you in advance to those who'll answer!

Yeah! So that it may be possible to flash GSI roms
Hi,
As Huawei doesn't allow to unlock the bootloader, you won't be able to install any GSI to it...
Some people report to have managed to unlock it with a paid option and to install TWRP.
But I am almost certain that even if they did and assuming a GSI will install and boot, you'll end up with a crippled device with features missing or not working...
I'd like to see that also but I think for now I'll stick to stock to no get stuck ,?

Well, maybe we could find workarounds for it... But I do understand your point with having incompatible roms.. I have bricked a device before because of it. But I hope someone knowledgable could look into this, especially those who work on the Honor 10 and Honor View 10 . Anyways, I guess I'll just try by myself, got my unit just today :fingers-crossed:
Is Note 10 a A only device?
hello, I have noticed in youtube videos that the indian model uses volte. With my Eu model (firmware A09) I don't find this setting. Although I use an original O2 card and in my other mobile phone it goes without problems.
Is there a keyboard code to activate?
Some informations about Wifi-Calling?
Thx
I've easily solved volte issues with a small hack but it needs unlocked bootloader and twrp.
No Root, possible for Eu/ India Rom user, unfortunally.
Support said it works but not for me.
Checked with A11 and new A13 Firmware.
dear people, tell me, who owns the eu model and who has the Volte? and with which provider?
thx
