Weird problem old nexus 5 random reboot sometime - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
It maybe same several problems in forums but i already read all these. In my case, i already factory to lower stable version but nothing changes. Problem maybe come from hardware, i don't think it come from button power. I find out when i put my sim card in phone, it sometime or frequency reboot even i don't touch power button. So far i remove sim card seem problem not appear anymore. Is Is it problem come from sim tray right?
Anyone have same problem like me?

Nope, Problem still there nothing changes. Even remove sim card. Still keep rebooting...

Weirdness after SIM swap

Got my SIM swapped out today to see if it would improve battery life. No luck. I came home, pulled it from my G2X and put in my Nexus 1 to compare speedtest.net results. Put in my G2X, and noticed it said checking system for a while before it booted. Now I'm stuck in a situation where the home key doesn't bring me back to home, and if I press power off key I only get the option to turn off-no more mute sound etc. I installed ROM manger, fixed permissions, and flushed Dalvik cache. You guys got any bright ideas on how to get it back to working as it should again? I am concerned about the single option power button, but phone was always turned off with button-no battery pulls to avoid corrupting system.

the sim card wouldnt have caused those issues, but it sounds like a factory reset should fix you.
or revert to a previous state if you made a backup.
It may be another coincidence but I was swapping my G2's SIM back and forth and the last time I put it in the G2X it said "no SIM found." After that, the G2 wouldn't recognize it either.
When the LG spinning status bar shows red during boot and it says "checking system" that's the kiss of death. I've had it happen twice and had to do a hard reset to revive the phone both times.
Yea, I wound up doing a reset from the privacy menu, but I had a Ti backup so it wasn't so bad. No idea what happened, there must be more to swapping SIMs than meets the eye. Apparently it's more than just an access key to use the network.
I just swapped in my new sim as well (coming from the g1 sim). So far the data speed is going a bit faster. I shall do some more testing and try to update my status in about another day
Edit:
Forgot to tell you guys what my speed was before changing the sim... Well I had about 4-5Mbps with the old sim. I just did a test with the new sim in the exact same spot and got 8.74-13.99Mbps down!

Just remember what happened to me if you decide to put it back in your old phone. I've been lazy and didn't bother to Nandroid, didn't think this would necessitate it. Lesson learned!

Having SERIOUS Issues

Last night, while I was reading a text message, my phone rebooted itself. When it came back on, it told me that my memory card was invalid and that I would need to reformat my phone. It gave me two options: Emergency Call and Reboot. I pressed Reboot, and it turned back on normally.
Everything was fine until it rebooted itself yet again. This time, when it came back, none of my apps/games/anything work. The phone is on, but I can't do anything with it. The only apps that open are 3rd party apps that I sideloaded.
I tried connecting to Zune to roll back to a restore point, but all I get is connection errors. I even tried going into my Settings>about>reset your phone. This told me it would reset my phone back to factory settings. After doing this and having it reboot, my phone is still the same. All the apps are still there and not working, and even my custom theme is still there.
Someone please help me.
AT&T Samsung Focus
I just did the hard reset by holding Power+Camera+Volume. It seems to have worked.
Any idea what could have caused this? I mean yeah I did a lot of registry tweaks, probably making it somewhat unstable, but this isn't cool...now I have to re-unlock it, re-force NoDo to install, etc...
EDIT: Well, the factory reset is still...resetting. It's just sitting on the Samsung splash screen not doing anything. I'll report back if it never leaves this screen.
im guessing you are usig a samsung focus? if you are you would have better luck posting is the focus forum but it sounds like you are using or you used an incompatible sd card with it.
check this thread out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834144
and im personally using a samsung 16gig sd card bought from ebay seller nikolai1778(or something like that) since december and i havent had any issue so that card is certified. hope that helps
Yes, I am using a Focus, but I have had this card in my device for months and months. It has never given me any issues.
I took the card out, factory reset it again, and it is giving me the same "Storage card not working" message. The card isn't even in my phone anymore.

what size is the sdcard? you probably just now recently used up all the space on the card and thats when you started getting the random reboot and data loss. read the thread i pointed out to you a lot of the issues you are having are documented there and the only known fix is to get a certified sd card or take out that sd card and hard reset the phone.
Again, I took the card out, hard reset it, and it's just stuck on the Samsung screen.
It's an 8 GB Sandisk Class 4

im out of ideas here, thats the 1st time i have heard of that hopefully someone else can help u out. you can try calling or taking your phone to at&t
Yeah, I still have my warranty (I think?). I left it sitting on the Samsung boot screen for about half an hour and it wouldn't budge. Seems to be bricked, although if I just try to turn the phone on normally, it shows the storage card error (without the storage card present). It gets stuck while reformatting.
if you can go to settings/about/reset your phone do it whitout your sd and again with your sd card

I don't think that is the problem. From what rmcgraw has described, it sounds like the phone is bricked, with or without the card installed. I don't think this is something that is a user-serviceable problem. My guess is that the phone needs to be replaced.
Yeah, I can't even get into the phone to go to the settings. As I had said, I tried hard resetting from the settings menu twice, to no avail. I have no idea why this happened, it was completely out of the blue. Hadn't changed any registry values that day or installed any new apps. At the time it happened, I had my phone plugged into my PC to charge and I was reading a text message.
I'm leaving for the AT&T store right now, I'll let you know how it goes.
Well, after about an hour of standing in the AT&T store on the phone with the warranty department (they couldn't even do anything in the store to help me), they told me they had no idea what was wrong and that they'd send me a replacement. I have to send my original phone back to them obviously, and if they determine that it's my fault, I have to pay $410. Oh yeah, and I have to wait a week for my phone.
I am having the same problem with my surround. Got my first one warrantied out because it was bricked at the HTC splash screen after getting the memory card error. Now my second surround is giving the error every couple of days and has needed a hard reset for the same reason you mentioned. I haven't done anything to my phone. No jailbreaking or whatever. And both have the original sd cards.

Maybe your computer over volted in some way and the memory card ( not the removable one, the internal one) got damaged. I know that when I plug my Samsung focus into an Apple usbwall adapter that the touchscreen doesn't work (capacitive buttons do tho?) and it may reboot its self. I assume this happens because the Apple charger releases an incorrect voltage to the phone- ie; more or less than the phone needs and it causes the device to stop working properly. Never had any lasting effects on my phone, but I just can't use an Apple USB adapter

UPDATE
Received my new Focus on Monday. Everything was fine until a couple of days ago. Just so you know, I did NOT re-install my 8 GB Sandisk Class 4 microSD, and I did NOT unlock my new device. Everything is stock on it, except for the apps I've installed.
Now back to the issues: It started crashing randomly a couple of days ago. It would do it when I plugged my phone in, as I entered apps, and sometimes just completely out of the blue. Yesterday, I got the "Storage card isn't working" error, even though a storage card has NEVER been in this device. That error actually froze, the phone re-booted itself, and has been working normally since. This is how the my other Focus was acting before it bricked.
So, my question: Is it the battery or my SIM card (those were taken from the other device)?

If i had to guess is the battery .....
This may be completely unrelated, but I found it interesting...
I had installed the "Drive On" GPS app on my old device. I didn't like it so I never used it. I had made a list of all of my installed apps right before my phone bricked to reference for when I got a new one. When I got my new Focus, I did not install Drive On.
After I started having problems with my new device, I noticed that Drive On had appeared in my app list without me installing it. However, it wouldn't open. I uninstalled it and my phone hasn't crashed since. I haven't gotten the storage card error since then, either. In fact, my phone has been running flawlessly and maybe even better than before.
I could be crazy, but Drive On seemed to be a rogue, phone bricking app that I will never install again.
Phone was acting up again last night.
5-7 crashes/reboots, and I got the "Storage card not working" message again.
It's strange how these problems seems to come in waves. The phone will work perfectly for days straight, then will go crazy and have tons of reboots and errors within half an hour, and then will go back to working perfectly fine for a while.
I want this to stop.
Ugh, it just restarted itself and is now showing the "Let's get started" screen, as if it formatted itself. I took the battery out and I'll try to boot it back up in a few...
Why am I having such bad luck with these phones?
EDIT: Yep, the memory is completely wiped and everything is back to stock. All I did was plug my phone in because the battery was about to die. Every single one of these problems has occurred while the battery was extremely low and the icon would stay at the top of the screen reminding me to charge it. As soon as I plug it in while on low battery, the problems begin.

A day after re-formatting itself, my phone suddenly fully re-installed (by itself) Drive On again. It opens and runs. I uninstalled it again. It is the only app that keeps reappearing after I have issues with my phone.

[Q] HTC Surround Stuck at white screen

Well my HTC surround is stuck on the white HTC boot screen and will not go past. I've tried hard resetting it as well as swapped the memory card 3 times all broken after inserting them. Anything I can do to fix this?!
this method for replacing the card
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BiZzfdWDR4
If so, the phone needs hard resetted after inserting the new memory as the memory becomes part of the phone and it needs to format it.
Or do you mean sim card?
I only ever had an issue once with my surround not booting and getting stuch at same screen. Ended up the sim card wasn't getting good contact with phone. Took out the sim, wiped it off, put it back and it worked. Also if there is a sim card issue, i think Att will swap it for you.
have you tried to reflash the stock rom?
I have this problem too
Anybody help me????
if you hold volume down while turning on the device do you get the multi colored screen can you post the results here please?

restarts and SD card drop issues

good morning!!
I have the Sensation 4G with a 32 gig Sandisk micro SD card running Revelation Rom (updated to latest version) that has started giving me a significant amount of problems with restarts. I also have a relatively new Anker battery that has easily doubled/tripled the usable time of the phone, and i don't think it is causing the problem.
The problem first started off when i would press the power button and it wouldn't instantly wake up the display. it would take a few seconds then the display would wake up. Restarts would sometimes help with that, but it never really went away. Then it would all of a sudden start dropping my SD card, often in the middle of an app running which would lock it up and it would either restart on its own, or i would have to pull the battery to do so. each time it restarts on its own, it will not mount the SD card. i have to restart it multiple times to get it to mount.
I don't think its the ROM b/c I have been running it for months without issue. The only other software change that was recent was my SU binary was out of date and i updated that. It really feels like a hardware issue to me. like the back of the case is grounding out somehow or it could just be that the phone is 3 years old and at the end of its life. Has anyone else experienced issues like this?
I am unlocked, but with S-ON. i am using the most recent stable version of 4EXT as well
Thanks!

One plus is a fraud company its hardware gives up after 1 year,,,this is bul****
Hey dude
Well strange i would contact oneplus about this should be under warranty there's no point in asking on the xda if you haven't even unlocked bootloader and clearly you aren't a user that like to fiddle with things
Cheers hope oneplus support will help you
Mine op6 works fine have it till launch no issues so i guess its stupid to call company a fraud, there's always chance that the smartphone or any electronic device will fail overtime that why you have warranty
I have posted my query here because few years back when i was using HTC ,i faced an issue and when the service centre gave up and returned my phone unfixed, one senior member from xda helped me to revive my phone and certainly that guy made my day for which i shall be forever thankful to xda forum
P.S : I am Sorry if i have hurt you in any way , i am just fed up not able to find any solution yet
I am just here trying my luck and hoping to find another life saver, Cheers ?
I've got the exact same problem. Op folks told me it's a hardware issue and they might have to replace the motherboard. But I really don't trust them
Its pretty much a hardware problem. I had the exact same problem with my OnePlus 3. I went to the official OnePlus service centre and they told me the same (to get the motherboard changed). I don't think it's worth to change the either motherboard.
I got the network IC repaired for half the price from some local mobile repair shop. See if you can do the same.
I have OP 6T and this issue started right after one of the updates, as the phone asked to reboot after an update. So, right after that update phone took 10-15 minutes to boot. Couple of days ago the was another Google Security Fix update, and that killed everything. No SIM cards, no wifi hardware... I tried fresh install, which stucks at - Wiping, Please wait. I tried to unbrick it, and I was able to reinstall official android, but still not wifi or mobile networking. they are just gone. - Does not like a hardware issue to me...
Turn off phone, remove SIM, turn on phone with no SIM, turn off, then plug in SIM and reboot again.
Most likely it's the Network IC, very common issue
You can try all the SW things first just to be safe but if nothing works then it's all that's left.
I have found a workaround which has worked 100% during last 7-8 times this issue happened. Once the no sim and wifi detect issue happens, switch off the phone, plug it into charging, let it charge in switch off mode for 2 mins and then switch it on with charging on.
It sounds like jump starting but somehow it works. Seems like network IC or something gets reset. Keeping my op6 for now with this workaround!

I too had a similar problem after getting my touch and screen replaced at OnePlus service center , while returning they told me that it's motherboard is also faulted and will work for few months at max and after I started getting the same problem as sim card not being detected and wifi unabled , but I got a temporary fix for it. The problem still persist.
The solution to this is while the phone is loading just slap the screen with palm strongly just don't break the screen , slap it repeatedly until you are asked to put the unlock code.

It's a temporary solution as the problem is in your motherboard, i even had my IC changed but nothing helped. This is the only solution, it keeps happening twice a week or even more.
