This has been popping up elsewhere, and is a pretty sweet deal.
Amazon.com: Buy an MP3 Album, Upgrade to 20 GB of Cloud Drive Storage for Free
* Purchase an MP3 album from the Amazon MP3 Store by 11:59 PM PST on December 31, 2011.
* If you qualify for this offer and either have not signed up for Amazon Cloud Drive or have the 5GB Amazon Cloud Drive plan, you will be automatically eligible for the 20 GB plan for one year from the date of your MP3 album purchase. Unless you set your account to auto-renew to a paid plan, the 20 GB plan will revert to a free plan one year from the date of your MP3 album purchase.
* If your Amazon Cloud Drive account is already at 20 GB or higher when you qualify for this offer, the offer will be saved to your account as a $20 credit toward any future Amazon Cloud Drive plan fees you may incur at the time your plan renews or at the time you upgrade your plan. If you elect to downgrade your plan to a free plan at the time of renewal, your upgrade offer will be applied towards the 20 GB plan at that time.
Btw, if you guys are cheap like me, here's a 69 cent album to get 20 GB for 69 cents:
Amazon.com: Trouty Mouth (Glee Cast)
NOTE: you MUST click "Buy MP3 ALBUM" at the TOP RIGHT, NOT "Buy MP3" in the middle of the page.
Can only stream from this in the US.

Seemed like a great deal to testdrive the new service so I signed up. So far I really like it. We'll see how much I really use it though.

A lot of things I have seen on the internet are US only things. Glad I live in the states. It's not so bad over here lol. Just ignore all the things people say whats bad and just live life as it comes, the states is worth it. Especially with all these US-only things. LOVE IT
"It's not so bad over here?"
Seriously?
Anyway. I like the service, but the player is not very good. I hope it gets more features and become a little more intuitive.
if free storage is the main thing here then i use free 25GB cloud storage without buying anything.
Get Windows Skydrive account which gives you 25GB of storage and download Android App called Sorami from the Market.
it works great on my Sammy Vibrant.
Hope this helps.
i just signed up

This is a random epiphany. I'm not gonna comment on it but you probably won't be reading this news if it's not available in the country.
Anyway, nice find OP.
Great deal. Too bad it is only for the US.
This would be great if the native Cloud Player let you do more then just play music. I want to upload MP4's, MP3's, APK's, Auto sync mobile photo's, etc....
I go to that flexion link/site to download ea games for my xperia play. They download fine, they install fine, they let me play the trial period fine. But then when I go to purchase a game (I've tried this with battlefield and nba jam) I select credit card, I automatically get a small error window that pops up.
Is this because I'm on the lovely verizon version of play?
Do I have to wait for NBA Jam to be on their sh*tty v z app store? (If it ever makes it there)
If I root my phone would this allow me to make this purchases? Or is it because the flexion store is from the UK and they wont allow the conversion rate for my dirty American dollars? (Cant say I blame them)
Just need some help, I'm new here and a new owner of the phone, I've had it roughly 3 weeks now, so I apologize if this is one of those eye rolling noob questions, but I gotta ask in order to learn!
Thanks guys
141 views and no one can help? =(
Hows this for an easier question, has anyone from the U.S been able to purchase anything from the flexion/v.i.p site with a credit card? Im just wondering if there's an issue with my phone or if it's a verizon restriction or ea restriction, etc
Sorry man never bought from them. For a while they gave away FIFA, the Two NFS games, Battlefield 2, and Dead Space for free. I wouldn't buy from the flexion site because my cc company would nail me for foreign transaction fees. Also I would NEVER buy from the Vcast store, I did once, all the games verify themselves over the internet when you play, means no data connection, no game. I called up and complained and they refunded me.
Nuts, I really want this game
v z apps is a rip-off, not only do you need a data connection, the prices are always higher than android market or the publishers site. I REALLY wish I had read up on how censored this verizon version is before I bit the bullet.
I need to find a good stable hacked os, rooted os, whatever they call it and see if that gives me more freedom. Im really disappointed with this phone, soley because of verizon.

I wouldn't blame the phone. Its not the phones fault... its Verizon. Being the p.o.s. that it is. Blame VZ not the phone.

It really annoys the hell out of me when people like to do so called *cracking apps* when they don't even know that is. Cracking means modifying the source code illegally and using the app for free which would otherwise cost money. You ARE NOT cracking it. You are STEALING it. The developers are working day-night just to make couple of cents but you on the other hand pirating it.
Just go outside and have a deep thought about it. You are willing to spend $50 easily on shopping, whereas, you don't even pay a dime for all the hard work the dev do it for you. It is just stupid. If you found a dollar on the road you wouldn't pick it, but where it comes buying $1 app you google it day and night all day long. I am not a dev but I do understand how it's like. So please please for god's sake stop piracy.
Go go sopa! or not?
Its because they are cheap and don't understand or care that it takes a lot of time and money to develop apps.
In many cases of free apps I wish there was a way to donate to the developer as I hate using something for free that I feel I should pay for.

There is already an off topic thread, why did you create a new one? It's just cluttering up the forum, and unnecessary, since your subject is a small matter and not worth a thread.

Back when I was in school I used to get the cracked apps. Being cheap? No. No debit card nor would parents allow me to use their cards for purchase.

Don't think this is an issue in the large scale. I don't know anyone who would waste his time searching for a cracked app instead of paying one or two bucks for the few apps you want and need to pay for.

To test for a greater time than 15 mins would justify a bit of searching. PowerAMP got it right back in the day. Something like 2 weeks full version trial then you must purchase. Still the best buy I've had on Android.

If you really wanted the app, you would have got the free version. I am sure that you looked for something like " how to get paid apps for free?"
There no access to credit card nor charge cards or whatever cards. So they have to use cracked apps.

Maybe im wrong but i think that at a large scale it doesn't affect developers so much ..

For me the situation is quite different.
I have been stealing apps (yea, i don't affraid to admit it, but im not brave of it). Then i decided to start buying them and supporting developers (bought Cerberus and couple other).
It's maybe my problem, but im affraid to provide my credit card numbers to websites such as google wallet to let them pull the money they want. The paypal here was solution, i could charge my paypal account, so they didn't knew anything about my credit card and it was safe. BUT then wild Google Wallet appeared and there's no such option. No money transfer, no transfer from paypal, i have to provide numbers on back of my credit card. If someone in google goes mad, with the provided cc numbers he can pull as much money as he want. I know it sounds riddiculous, but I like safety. I can't relly on their good will, that thay won't abuse it.
So i stopped buying apps, as there is no way to put money on my account.
I use cracked apps just to check if they are worth the money. I treat them as demo. If I like it I buy it.Cheers

I have no problem purchasing apps, but I do know that aside from the credit card issue, many games and apps just aren't available on playstore in many countries, these are great apps and games and I don't see a reason why they shouldn't be available everywhere, maybe we should look to the causes of many people's pirated apps.

I have to use Market ebabler, and droidVPN so I could view all of the apps on play store.
This is insane!
I've spand 100-200$ for android apps.
I'm with android since 1.5 back in 2009.
Some apps are simply overpriced and I have to find a solution does the app deserve the money, and for that reason I google it to find it for free, just for testing.

There are such things as prepaid credit cards. Just a hint. As an alternative some markets (not Google Play) accept also paypal etc.
Google Play with paypal, at least 20% of us will start buying apps.
I dont use many apps on my android, so buying few apps is not a problem for me. bank in in about RM10 ( 3USD+- ) on my account, and bought apps. Im a student thou. Other than that, I often buy iPad apps, even thou I jailbreak it. Jailbreak for me is only for tweaking. I even bought paid cydia apps. Same goes to my android, root/unknown source/s-off or what so ever, I dont support piracy.
Have the kaching to bought devices/gadgets but dont have the kaching to buy apps? what say you.

this is riddiculous! you don't feel safe to trust google wallett, but you'd trust paypal!!! there's no differencies between those two. they are both corporate giants, if you're paranoid trust neither. or better, don't be paranoid.
So I signed up for Google Opinion Rewards, the day the app dropped. I received the initial non paid survey which was strictly political. I answered it with my views and beliefs, and I haven't received a survey since. On the other hand, I have a friend, who has the exact opposite political views as me. He signed up just a few days after me, and has received a survey almost on a daily basis. Am I the only person not receiving the surveys? Just wondering if anyone else has not received any! Could my answers have been too opinionated, or didn't meet some agenda? Maybe it's just the conspiracy theorist in me!
Yeah, I also haven't had any.
Kind of quiet lately...
I did the initial survey, and 2 or 3 since then, but I haven't seen anything come up in a while. I never saw them on an almost-daily basis though; maybe 1 a week. Being a somewhat new service/app, they might just need some time to drum up more clients to do surveys for.
I know it's a new service, but I went through the initial survey with my wife and answered on the other end of the political spectrum yesterday morning. And she's already received 2 surveys in less than 2 days. There definitely something to it! It's been well over a month and I haven't gotten anything! Wish I had known, I would have lied on the first survey! Lol

Well, that's strange...you may be onto something there. And yesterday afternoon got a one-question survey asking if I were male or female, paid 25 cents...thought that was weird too! Who can fathom Google's mysterious ways?
Signed up for this myself I received 1 survey got a dollar and nothing since. Been a week BTW.

Yeah -- I've had it for about two months now and only received about 3-4 surveys. Pretty slim pickings -- don't think any of us are going to get rich with Google Rewards any time soon!
I'm pretty hesitant to all those surveys.
So I got my first survey today!! Earned a dollar!

Yeah if you're expecting to get more than like 5 dollars a year you'll probably be disappointed lol.
Sent from behind you!
Weird. I've had maybe half a dozen or so. Of course it hasn't amounted to more than $2 or $3, but still for a free app here and there I'll do it.
I've only ever received one or two this year. As others have said, you can't exactly expect to make much off this
Works for Me
I have made about 15-20 bucks since I signed up. I usually get 2-3 surveys each week. Two surveys last week and one so far this week.
still waiting
same here still waiting... pretty sure the pin point test group as they want ....
I got a survey right away and used to get 2-3 surveys a week, think I've made around $7 total. I've only received 1 survey the past 3 weeks. It was pretty sweet for awhile! Sounds like I'm one of the luckier ones!
I've tried several times but there was always a problem submitting my answers so I have $0 despite wasting time on this crap.

Remember that Google knows a lot about you.
You are a member of a particular demographic, with a particular consumer profile and a particular set of socio-political views. Google probably knows where you fit in these spectra better than you do.
Companies are paying Google to run these surveys for them, because Google has such good demographic data. They pick the groups of people for each survey based upon the demographic details the company paying for the survey.
So ... depending upon your particular profile, you can expect more or less surveys.
Personally, I am a 40-something, tech-savvy family man with liberal socio-political views and an "above average" income bracket. I got a bunch of surveys up-front (made five or six bucks I guess) and then they've thinned out quite a bit since then. I occasionally get "one and done" surveys that pay $0.25 ... I guess I should've chosen the other answer on those!
I also wonder if some battery apps might hamper its functionality. I run greenify and battery guru. Lately I noticed I often get a survey offer within a few hours of activating the app ... wonder if one Battery Guru might be preventing it from checking in occasionally...

I guess that makes sense. I got to $10 in credits pretty quick, enough to get the Groundspeak app (I sure as hell was not going to actually BUY it), then about $4 in credits until I have not gotten any in about a month or so.
I fit your profile for the most part, although I am pretty conservative and a bit of a cheapskate, although I do not use any battery apps.
The frequency of surveys has some dependency on your device. I have nexus and galaxy devices. Both have the same Google account but the nexus gets more surveys
I have hardly made 3 bucks in about 3 months, yet my mother has only been part of it for a little over a month and has already accumulated about 10 bucks. She brags almost daily about getting another ten to fifty cents. I have a feeling it has to do with her gender and possibly age.
Edit: looking at the reviews on play store, I've noticed more men with low ratings complaining about not getting surveys, while more of the higher ratings are women getting at least one a day.

Anyone paying attention to the strange situation with the Samsung upgrade programs?
1. They killed the legacy one, apparently. It isn't offered this year.
2. The new Access program (which came out in June and is AMAZING for frequent upgraders) isn't offered on this phone either...
I had a rep tell me it'll come out after the pre-order period, so maybe they don't want us getting free goodies AND Access?? Seems silly to punish the pre-order people. I was also told I could jump on the program with 30 days of buying my phone, which I'm sure is a lie but they promised me and I have it in email saved, haha.
Anyone else hoping for or waiting for Access for the Note20 line?
I looked into Access as well before I pre-ordered but kind of figured what they told you. They don't want to give away $200 in freebies and then you could dump the phone after 9 months and only be out of pocket about $350.
Thanks for bringing this up. It looks like you all have figured it out. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to add the Note 20 to the program. I've never had a Samsung, but this program seems like it would be very useful for frequent upgraders.
Not surprised to see that so far... Samsung appears to have lied to me. No Access program still.
