4G issues on D821 - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Got a Vodafone SIM in my D821 and cannot get a 4G signal (GPRS or HSPA/HSPA+ only). Put the same SIM in an Xperia Z1 Compact and immediately picked-up 4G. Also tried in a Note 4 that also got 4G no problem. All user settings on the N5 are correct... APN, network type, etc. Tried forcing LTE from the hidden test menu and just dropped signal altogether. ROM is OTA 6.0.1.
Also, I have noticed that if I select network, I only see 'Vodafone UK', whereas on the Xperia Z1 Compact, I see 'Vodafone UK 2G', 'Vodafone UK 3G' and 'Vodafone UK 4G'. Same for the other networks.
Any ideas?

[Q] Practically non existent 3G on SK17i Xperia Mini Pro

Hi
I recently rooted my xperia mini pro to 4.04. I just recently changed my sim from Amaysim to Telstra and noticed I have virtually no 3G reception. I have seen it but doesn't stay for long.
The Telstra 3G is listed but won't allow me to register it or if it does I lose reception and it reverts back to 2G. I have tried the sim in my N73 and I get full strength 3G.
I have re-downloaded the internet mms settings, didn't make any difference.

Can't connect to 4G [SOLVED]

Hi all,
I got my Mate 7 (LT-09, european version, 2gb black version, stock 4.4) about a month ago. I'm from Czech republic, so at first I thought that it can't connect to 4G just because of low 4G signal. However, I study in Edinburgh where the 4G signal should be good (my friends connect to it with no problem), but my phone still doesn't connect to 4G. I have a 4G sim card, 4G giffgaff (virtual O2 operator) goodybag, so everything should be working. But, I can only connect to H+.
Also, when I try to register to a network, I can see three options - O2 2G, O2 3G, and O2 4G, however, when I click on the O2 4G, I get an error message saying "couldn't connect to the network, choose automaticaly?"
Does anyone have a similar issue? I'm really getting desperate.
Thank you

Thank you for your anwer! I had the right settings (at least I think so), but I was so desperate that I upgraded to android 5.1.1. There it didn't work as well, but after I updated the apn I got 4G! So it was probably just bad APN settings. Thank you so much, didn't realize that could be a problem.
what apn did you use , i have fast.t-mobile.com, all i get is 3g or H+ i already set it to WCDMA only for preferred network type
I used the settings from giffgaff.com website, so I suppose you should get yours at your regional t-mobile website. Just make sure that you're using the correct one, as there can be defferent apn settings for 3g and 4g (that's what happened to me, and that's why I didn't realise it was an apn problem). Hope this helps.

Xperia Z5 Compact not receiving 4G signal with Rogers Canada

Hi everyone,
I just got my Xperia Z5 Compact from my dad, but the problem is that I can not get 4G signal with Rogers Canada. My Z5 Compact was bought from the US
I asked support from Rogers and they said since Rogers does not carry the Xperia Z5 Compact, and my sim is working properly with other phones, they cannot offer me help.
My phone current settings:
- Preferred network type: LTE (preferred)/WCDMA/GSM
- Rogers LTE - Itemobile.apn
Can someone help me? Thank you!

Check if the bands and frequencies of your carrier match the bands and frequencies supported by the device. There is more to it than just it being 4G LTE. If bands and frequencies don't match, it won't work.
Also, your radio/modem may not be compatible. Some devices that move to a different network have to flash a modem to work on the other network. That doesn't mean that a compatible modem is available for your device though. Some devices switching networks have to live without 4G because the device hardware just doesn't support what the network has regardless of what software you apply.
I DO NOT PROVIDE HELP IN PM, KEEP IT IN THE THREADS FOR EVERYONE TO SHARE
A USA purchased X5 Compact has all the LTE bands that Rogers uses. As long as the APN settings are correct (and I'd assume that these settings come from the SIM card), the phone should work. Does it work otherwise, just not with 4G?

A9 3G not working.

Hello,
I have an HTC A9, 3/32 version. The problem is that the phone apparently is branded by HTC America and I am using it in Europe (the phone was bought from Europe). The 3G bands are different in US vs. Europe but here comes the tricky part: although the phone cannot connect to the 3G network, the carrier I use has only 3G and 4G coverage. All the calls are made using 3G (confirmed by the carrier) and while I am under 4G network I can use the phone without a problem. When only 3G network is available, the phone shows no connectivity at all.
When trying to manually select 3G only (WCDMA option as it appears in the settings) the phone is still showing 4G as connection.
Is this problem solvable through software change? Reset is not working.
Another curious thing, I did receive all the OTA updates. (last one about 2 weeks ago).
Phone CID is BS_US001 Developer Edition

LG G Pro 2: GPRS and Edge do not work, 3G OK

I have bought a couple of F-350L LG G Pro 2 phones, and have flashed various ROMS onto one phone, including the 838 Roms, and left the other phone at the default Korean ROM.
I am on GiffGaff in the UK, which runs on the O2 network.
When I am in range of 3G signal, which is rare in my area, I get good download speeds. However when I can see "G" or "E" icons data does not download.
How can I get GPRS and Edge data to work? Is this a hardware issue? The same problem is seen on both phones.
