Can i get some help?
I was downloading a file on my 6800 when it froze, at about 20% battery remaining, so i help the power button to reset the device.
Once it booted up to the lock screen, i entered my lock pattern and it froze again.
So i reset the device again, but this time it was stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 screen. So i reset the device again. Same problem.
Now i am not getting anything. I have plugged the power cord into the tab and i am not getting any indication that it is charging. Nothing.
I cannot get into download/recovery because nothing is happening.
Is my device truly dead?
P.s. How do i find the serial number? Its supposed to start with R, but i cant find it on the device or the box.
Let the tablet discharge completely, then recharge it again. And try booting up normally, in recovery or download mode. Serial number can be found at the back of the device. If not check your original purchase bill.

The tab is essentially a paper wieght. There is no indication that that it has any power, and will not boot into anything as nothing happens when the power button is pressed. So I cannot discharge it since i dont there is no indication of the remaining battery life and charging it shows no indication of current battery level.
The serial number is not on the back of the device, and i checked on my other tablet the P1000 it isnt there either, there is only the model number, the IMIE number and where it was made.

M out of station at the moment. Will be home next Monday. Will inform you if the serial number is printed on the box or not. I guess you'll need a zig cable to bring your device in download mode. Is your tab still under warranty? If so I guess it'll be better to take it to a service center.

Mine has frozen up a few times and read somewhere that if you have a black screen..and no buttons working..
then plug in wall charger wait for atleast 15 mins ..then hold power button for 15 secs..
the battery charging icon should appear..then can be turned on.\
its kind of like before you could hold power button and or volume buttons but nothing happening.
I was worried mine had somehow hard bricked but this worked for me recentley..
If doesnt work for you and still nothing then see samsung..

Tried it and it didnt work. Thanks for some advice. Any chance you can get a picture of the back where the imie & serial number are supposed to be? You can obscure your imie & serial number, i just need to see how it looks.

Located at the back panel, lower side. IMIE and S/N just above the 3G, WIFI, and 16Gb markings.

Your welcome... If you've kept the original plastic protector at the back there is also a sticker indicating the IMEI and S/N.
Just send it back to Hong Kong with origonal purchase receipt..
They will replace motherboard and no questions asked.
I bought mine in HK and have sent it back twice under warrenty..
To be honest i think sending it Hard bricked is the best way to get it repaird
as they have no way of knowing what Roms n stuff youve Flashed lol..

Can you post the name and address to the place in Hong Kong that you sent it to??
I may have to send mine there from the USA.. and it is NOT warranty covered anymore....
Will they work on it for me?? and charge me to fix it??
Ill pay them.. I just need it fixed.
I beleive there are 3 repair centres in Hong Kong..
My Freind had mine fixed in Hong kong because at the time i was in Australia.
Samsung repair centre..
Unit 1501, 15/F, Causeway Bay Plaza 1, 489 Hennessy Rd, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, Hong Kong
+852 2521 4888
Maybe for starters ring this number, this one i got from google....
ask for somebody that can speak good english..
Maybe get them to email you the postage address incase you get it wrong somehow..
Like i posted have droped mine in for Bricked twice..
They will do it in 1 day and ring you the next telling you to pick it up.
Doesnt take long..
At moment ive asked DanielHK how much it cost as he is getting his fixed there now.
when i get a price i will let you know what they charged him, dont pay more!.
The thing about HK is different price for chinese and different price for the Gui Lo's!!!
seems like mine is now bricked - no response from the charger or by usb, i was using it today and it ran out of battery and wont do anything,it was acting funning the last few days, it actually would never turn off, when i powered it off it would just turn back on again, and as i posted in another thread it would charge with the cable for a few days it would only charge by usb, them all of a sudden it starting charging by usb again but not with the original charger it came with - i have had it charging for over an hour and still nothing, i will charge it overnight and try again tomorrow - i will probably send it to my office in hong kong and see if they can work with the repair center to get it fixed - but in the meantime i need another 7.7 ! i guess i will just have to pick one up on kijiji - there is one in my area for $375 which is about half the price i paid for my current one - oh well i will just sell 2 of my nexus 7's and get another 7.7 i dont really use the nexus 7's anyway only to test out different roms
edit - does anyone know if samsung canada can / will repair it if i pay for it or know anyone else that can i would rather pay and get in done here then send to hong kong ? i had a company in mississauga that fixed my bricked original galaxy tab 7 a few years ago but i dont really trust those guys to work on this tablet

Contacted the company and they are going to repair under the warranty. Lets see what they actually do.

I had a feeling it had sometime to do with the power cord as it was working before it died picked up a Samsung travel adapter today and as soon as I plugged it in the battery symbol appeared so my original Samsung cable / adapter was no longer working anyway very very glad everything is now OK and going back to a backup of paranoidandtoid 2.55 where everything was working and can now sell my galaxy note 2 which is way too small for everyday use

Hey guys
I rooted and flashed paranoid android of my tab and it was working fine. Couple of weeks later I left it to charge overnight not realizing the charger is spoilt, hence, didn't charge my tab. Batt drained completely and i couldn't get it started again. Tried leaving it to discharge overnight and plugging in a new charger to charge overnight and still nothing. It was still under warranty so I sent to to samsung and guess what? They told me it's been rooted and hence the warranty is void and they told me they need to replace the motherboard which costs almost $300. :crying: FML. Took it back and now I have a really fancy paperweight.
Was wondering if you guys know anything I can do to get it back to life? Or at least unroot it so I can send it back for repairs?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Maybe not Dead, just its gone completely flat.
When it discharges to a certain amount you cant charge it even with wall charger as needs a certain amount of power
from the battery to activate the charging circuits.
I havent pulled one open yet but u need to pop the screen out from the front..
then remove battery and charge it from some other means then replace it..\
should now turn on again..
Just a guess but if its a paper weight you got nothing to loose right?
Hi guys.
so just picked up my phone (was connected to charger) to realize that is dead! the screen is totally black,no charging/notification lights and touch buttons are not illuminated and wont power on or take a charge. tried to connect to pc but adb keeps saying "waiting on device" and thats it.
the phone is unlocked, rooted, jmz TWRP recovery and cm11.....has been running fine for the past week.
it appears to have died a sudden death....any ideas guys ???
cheers
EDIT: dunno what the hell happened as nothing was turning it back on BUT after after holding down power button and volume down for about a minute the damn thing booted up SORTED!!

Can you get into recovery mode?
Hi,
I have the exact same problem.
I cannot get into recovery. I tried Power + Vol. Up but that did not work (yet).
Did you leave it plugged into the wall charger while doing this, Braddison?
Also it does not show up on PC.

If I remember correctly I had it on charge and held down power and vol up. It did take a couple of minutes continuously holding down the buttons. Been fine ever since
If that fails try power and volume down for about 30seconds, I'm sure that's meant to hard reset phone
Thanks for your quick answer. I will try once more.
Same dead HTC One Mini here...two days ago the phone suddenly turned off (with somewhat of 80%-90% battery) and since then its dead. No LED, no charging, it even doesnt get warm when its being plugged into the charger. Pressed Power+Volume down (plugged or non-plugged) more than 2 minutes, and also Power+Volume Up more than two minutes.
adb shows no device. If i plug the phone into an USB-slot in a linux-machine dmesg doesnt says anything. So its dead or not? Since its not more than a half year old it should have warranty, but i think i wont get my photos and stuff. So this is an advioce to myself: never ever buy a phone without micro-sd-slot again!!!
cheers, jennix

I would try again after putting on charge for a few hours, ensuring that power and volume down are pressed simultaneously. i have read that its best to do this while in a bright room or shining a torch on the sensor, seems strange i know but its worth a try
good luck

hi all,
i got rid of the problem by going to my carrier. (a1 - vodafone, austria)
htc fixed it on guarantee (although i flashed a cm11-nightly)
the problem was: a damaged mainboard, which got replaced - took about two weeks..
cheers, and good luck..

thanks! Just sent mine to HTC, hope they fix it within warranty. Can I ask if ur data on the internal SD is stil intact or did you lose it all? And again someone with cm11 installed. Anyone with Sense had the same problem?
I have the exactly same problem, my phone was rooted with CM11 nightly when it died. I sent it to my carrier, but now they want me to pay 200$ for a new motherboard, because they found it was rooted and the warranty is voided. Even when I pay 200$, i still will have no warranty. And I had more than 1 year left. Is there a problem with CM11? How comes that they replace it for some people for free, and for some not? Please, give me a tip how to proceed and do I really have any options from this point?
These horror stories make me wanna stick to stock based roms. I'm a big fan of CM, but not if there's a chance it could fudge my mainboard.. real shame
or is this another example of another design fault with this phone?....
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Xparent Green Tapatalk 2
As they have to replace the motherboard it is an hardware issue, where I live rooting doesnt void warranty if there is an hardware issue. They have to give you warranty. Could you ask your carrier what exactly caused it and why the motherboard had to be replaced?

Hey. I sent it directly to AVARTO (service center here in Germany) they too wanted to charge me (around $ 240). Then I asked what exactly the problem was and they revised their statement. Sent it back for free within warranty. On the repair sheet it than said "not turning on. constantly".
Hi.
Another dead mini. S-OFF, TWRP, CM11.
Does anyone know how to turn on the Nexus 5? Today I found the phone turned off automatically. The last time I used it was half hour before I found it was off. I know it had enough battery. I tried power on more than 10 sec. I tried power + both volume buttons, I tried power + one volume button. I tried charging it. None of them works. It just stopped working after worked for me for 4 months.I haven't rooted or installed other ROM. I didn't install to much Apps also. Before this trouble, the phone works perfectly. But now it doesn't give me any response without any reason.

As you tried holding the power button for about 10-20 seconds you can try to connect the phone to a charger to see if you see a charging animation. Can you get into bootloader (volume down and power)? Try charging the phone a little longer (1 hour or more). If nothing works all you can do is RMA or send it in for repair.

Only the original owner (your friend) can claim warranty and only in the country where the phone was bought. You`ll have to send it to the US. You can also send it to a local LG repair centre but you`ll have to pay for it yourself most likely.

Does anyone have new idea to solve the problem?

You might also want to try turning it on underneath a bright light. For example, turn on a desk lamp, and point it right at the top of the phone while you try to turn it on.
I know that sounds like an odd suggestion, but it's worth a shot. People were having a similar issue with the HTC One, and it turned out to be because of a built-in pocket mode that tried to use the light sensor to prevent it from turning on in a pocket or bag. Sometimes, it would bug out and only work in the face of a really bright light. Obviously, it was most prevalent in the HTC One because that was built in, but it happens in other phones when you use apps that have a similar function, such as AcDisplay and such.
Go to the Recovery -> wipe data

Hi gee2012,
I almost give up and plan to send to phone back to US. Now I find I can hear the current sound from the top part of the phone when ever I press the power button, or when the phone is connected to the charger.
If the phone is not connected to the charger, the current sound with disappear after around 15 seconds even I hold the power button.
Does that mean something? I think at least it means the phone does have power in the battery.
I tried to connect the phone to the computer, but I cannot find any device related to the phone.

JUST SEND IT BACK. The longer you try to "fix it" the longer you're gonna be without a functioning phone. I know it's frustrating and you wanna fix it, but honestly it really sounds like it's dead. Just send it back to your friend and let him RMA it.

As per title, I was using my stock G Flex 2 to browse the internet and had it plugged in the charger and without even a warning, the display shut off and the phone ceased to be responsive. It didn't power off or anything, just died instantaneously and I can't turn it on again no matter how long I press the power button or leave the charger in.
I tried opening the back cover and disconnecting the battery, and reconnecting it but nothing changed.
What does this mean for me? The phone is over a year old already and as such, no warranty is left. It's really disappointing LG would release a phone that dies less than 2 years in use. My previous LG device, an Optimus G, also suddenly died and became a paper weight after the first year. I feel like an idiot buying this phone now.:crying::crying:
did you changed motherboard all that time you have the phone if not thats the problem because if you bought first parts of lg g flex 2 that will happen what varriant you have

Hi, I tried download mode but nothing happened. Press and hold Volume UP and connect USB to PC method.
So I guess my phone is useless now. How did your phone end up as?
That happened to mine too.
H950, flashed with 5.1.1 PR and rooted.
Was using it normally, 70% battery. Suddenly died. Got me scared, thought it had fried or something. The screen kept warm in the upper part, but no response at all.
When I arrived home, around 1 hour later, decided to mess around. Lg Pc Suite didnt recognize it, neither did the computer.
It was dead.
Then, being a bit stubborn, I decided to press both Power and Volume Down (or UP, I dont remember) buttons for a long time. After maybe 40 seconds of pressing the phone came back to life and never had problem with it since.

I tried holding the buttons down in all different combinations for over 1 minute, but nothing happens. I even tried removing the battery and just using the charger to turn on the phone, also nothing happened.
So at this stage, I'm guessing most likely the hardware has failed, maybe the CPU or the motherboard or something. Because it died so suddenly, like a TV when you pull the power plug. Overheating perhaps?
plugin in it to charger?

It's been three days and my phone still wont' turn on, react to charging or USB connection. For me, its probably garbage already...good luck for you though.

I can get the red notification light to come on for a few seconds but it dies after that so there must be some form of life still within it.

Just put in a warranty repair request, do you remember what the procedure was like?

you just go to the store with the warranty invoice paper you got from the store you bought it
My phone is out of warranty, and where I am located, I can't find motherboards at a reasonable price.
Can anyone please mail me their extra motherboards, even its damaged, for a small fee?
EDIT: I'm in Malaysia

I got mine from Amazon and I'm from the UK so LG have no authorised service centres here according to their website, says they'll repair it onsite but I've had no contact from them so far.
there is man in uk of course
So after playing around with it for a while, I managed to bring the 0% battery screen up (with a yellow triangle) and left it to slow charge via my laptop. After 20 minutes or so it started booting up as normal and I reached the lock screen which said it was at 5% and charging. However a few seconds later it just cut out and is back to being a brick, I'm guessing the motherboard is the problem?
Mine Too
Mine G Flex 2 (H950) died while i was using it about 2 months ago .Till now no signs of life ....
Tried to charge it ,removed battery and reinserted ,but no use,it won't show any sign of life ...Does not show up on PC when connected with a cable ....:crying::crying:
i had just replaced my battery 2 months ago before this problem ...Seems like i wasted a lot of money on this device .....No warranty more than 1 year since i got it .....I think its some motherboard problem .....
Mine used to overheat as soon as it was booted up ..
Any one knows any cause/solution for it ???
This phone is really faulty. Last month i suffered bootloop so i sent it to repair. It lasted 1 month and now its broken again, after few minutes it self-restarts because it suddenly stops reading SIM card. And its not really faulty SIM card, because it works in my second phone perfectly.
So I was able to get my hands on a new 8gb/512gb matte black version of this. Was setting up the phone, updated to Android 10 first before transfering sms, call logs and updating apps. Went to turn off the phone to insert my SIM card and now the phone won't turn on. It vibrates every time I press the power button but then nothing. Currently it's connected to the supplied charger with the LED light lit red. It was already charging while I was using it, had about 70% battery before I switched it off. I've tried volume down + power button for 10 seconds, LED light turns off and it vibrates, and it keeps vibrating every 10 seconds when it's connected to the charger (doesn't keep vibrating when it's not connected). Can feel the area between the fingerprint reader and camera pretty hot during this. Volume up + power doesn't work either. Any ideas?
Try pressing and holding all three.
Power + vol up + vol down. Should force a reboot.

No response. Not even a vibrate.
That is unfortunate. I had this multiple times. Black screen but phone was on. Just did not react to power button or screen did not turn on. The button combo helped.
Only other idea I have is to let the battery run out. If the phone is even on in your case.
How could you tell if the phone was actually on? Could you receive calls or something?
And this was on your Zenfone 6 too?
I've left it off charge for the last 5 days now. I don't think it's gonna run flat soon, considering that it's not even on.
I think I will send it back to the seller (Taiwan!) tomorrow
The notification led was blinking. Yeah on zf6. It stopped happening a few month ago. Probably fixed in a few update. But yours seems to be a different problem.

I am not sure where, but I think when I was trying to fix my hard bricked Z6, some post said that a red LED without any other notion from the phone means that you may be able to get this running in QD-Loader mode - check this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-6-2019/how-to/qdloader-brick-t3980165
Can you get the phone to register as a COM-device?

My post on here: recognised as an Android ADB Interface but I can't do an adb reboot as "device not found"

Thanks for this. I actually saw this a few days ago but was reluctant to try as I'm worried it might void the warranty.

Try again the Power + vol up + vol down combo, but hold it 30 secs. If still does not reboot, get worried...

I did hold them for 1 minute and no response before. Is there a specific order which they should be pressed and held?
No, no order. Just all pressed together at once. I think you should return the phone. Last year there was a similar issue with an update and many phones had to be returned, but it was solved.
If the combo don't reboot the phone I would return it. I don't want to give them excuses not to honor the guarantee.

It was never solved. It's still happening even to new ASUS phones.
To OP: Return the phone immediately. Your mobo is 95% dead. It's a hardware issue so trying to fix that is not worth losing the warranty.

Yeah so weird as I only did an OTA firmware update from the shipped Android 9 to Android 10. It installed successfully and rebooted once. But only died once I shut it down. Was there a thread about it?

Yeah it actually just got back to Taiwan yesterday. Seller is being annoying though and not wanting to send me a replacement. But instead wanting to refund me and then asking me to repurchase (at a potentially higher price like seriously -_-).
Such a hassle.

might be you received damaged Cell because I faced the same issue when I bought LG G4 Cell, Seller told it was new but after I sent to Service Center they told its repaired cell and not new, it was motherboard issue, so might be you also picked up cell like that, other I never faced any problem in Asus 6z since I bought last year

They refunded me and couldn't get stock of a new one. The repair centre apparently can't fix it either lol.
Anyway it's a blessing in disguise as I'm gonna buy the Zenfone 7 or 7 Pro now.

Yes..Nice Choice, Hope Asus 7 Series Price not like onePlus & others
Same thing just happened to my wife's phone. She received an OTA update from ASUS which resulted in her phone rebooting itself during the night and getting stuck at the ASUS splash screen totally unresponsive.
I waited for the battery to die and after charging the phone powered up. It lasted 12 hours before suddenly shutting itself down when the wife was changing settings to pull the time from the network.
Now dead as a brick. Charge light no longer lights. Totally unresponsive. No amount of power button/volume button combination or time will do anything to make it work again.
Pretty pissed off as it was purchased early Sep last year and has already been sent back to ASUS in Taiwan for the USB charge port board replacement. Now 1 yr and 17 days old.
I do not know what to do now except push for a repair under warranty.
Nearly on the day when my warranty went out the ZenFone did it to.Used Bluetooth to my headphones and suddenly it went dead for good. Was reading that others on the net had the same problem and guess its a major built in fault on a rather expensive phone when i bought it. Got a new phone of a different brand and will for sure never return to any Asus phones when quality aint a strong word for that brand. Over and out.
Wow. I was looking at these phones but there are issues it seems.
Rule #1 if your OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission...
Do Not Update!
This goes double for carrier phones. AT&T for example can wreck your user experience with their later updates.
With Pie and above security isn't an issue unless you do something stupid.
Don't get sucker in by scare hype.
Always redundantly backup critical data to at least 2 hdds and always be ready to reload. Reload if you can't resolve a malware issue asap. Cover your ass...ets
