Samsung Galaxy S6 Replacement Screen Low Resolution? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I ran into a huge bout of bad luck beginning with my own lack of mindfulness. I dropped my S6 and shattered the screen. I bought a screen that was advertised as being OEM and plugged it in. It powered on and it seemed to work fine but there were these strange lines (not the really bright ones, but kind of like dull scan lines) and it just seemed very low resolution. I assume that the replacement screen was defective as well, but I'm not sure if this could also be a motherboard issue?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

[Q] i9100 buzzing camera/flash & screen burn in

HI guys,
I just bought myself a refurbished GT i9100 with a 12 month manufactures warranty.
Firstly I've been experiencing the camera buzzing issue that I see a lot of the other people having problems with. Seems like it comes and goes sporadically.
My question regards my screen. I noticed after using the phone for a few hours the there was what looks like screen burn in.
See attached for color burn on screen.
I imagine the phone froze on a screen at some point in time and burnt this in? Or is this image persistence and will fade in time?
I'm leaning towards returning the phone at the moment and curious to know what you guys think.
Cheers.

Broken xoom

Hi Guys,
First post so go easy. Lurked the boards for a while now but only just registered. Hoping some one can help me out a little here, as I'm at my witts end now.
So I bought my xoom (MZ604..?) back in february second hand for £125 posted, it's a the 10.1" version and it's running android ICS. I bought it as i love my Samsung galaxy tab 7 but i think it lacks the screen size and the xoom seemed like a great price for a larger equivalent. I used it pretty much every day and it was awesome, never had any problems with it until...
My son decided to kick it off my lap onto the granite fireplace. The screen instantly went black and just didn't do anything. I could see a faint bbacklight on inside so I assumed it was the LCD panel that was broke, i could still here notifications and if i swiped in the right place i could also hear the tablet unlocking so the digitizer was ok too. I bought a water damaged xoom off ebay and harvested the screen to try and replace it and that wen ok, except i still had the same problem so I assumed that screen was broken too, oh well spares and repairs doesn't always work out lol...
So I bought a brand new LCD panel and fitted that yesterday, and it STILL won't work. However, the issue i now have is it won't turn on at all. I've taken it apart and put it back together multiple times to make sure it's all gone back in the right place etc. It's also charging ok, i put it on the dock and the light goes white, and then green after a while.
I'm at a loss here, as the new screen and xoom cost me nearly £100 so it's not really worth me paying any more as it's begining to seem like an endless pit of money.
TLDR:
Bought xoom
Son dropped xoom
Screen went black but tablet still worked
Bought 3nd hand xoom and swapped lcds
No joy with that
Bought brand new screen
charges but won't turn on now
Hoping someone on here can help me, i really don't want to throw it away as it's a fantastic device, but at the same time i can't keep plowing money into it if it won't work.
Thanks guys,
Uv.

Screen Burn-in

Anyone else notice what seems like to be a screen burn in on their Galaxy S6 (non-edge). I was outside today in direct sunlight for the first time and I pulled up google chrome (white background) and I noticed dark gray lines as depicted by the red lines in the pictures. Just curious if anyone else has this?

I have found exactly the same issue on mine. But it's only noticeable in direct sunlight it seems. At present it isn't a deal breaker for me but it's certainly a bit odd. Surely it's a little early for screen burn in?

+1.
It's not screen burn in. It's the metal chassis behind the screen which you are seeing., which is only visible in direct sunlight.
Ok but is that normal?I have the same issue and at the store i notice the same issue on one new-out of the box device.Should we replace our device or this is normal?
I started a thread to this issue yesterday. Because I didnt saw this one.
Just replaced my phone because some issues with the display, flash led and this problem.
Think my replacement will have it, too.
For now I cannot anwer me the question if it is suitable to accept this for a phone in this price segment. The summer is coming and the issue will be there on a lot of days.

I think i will not settle for a phone at this price range and this stupid issue and i think that nobody should. I will just pick up Note 4 with Exynos if this issue is not resolved with the 3rd s6 device.
Me too.
On a teardown from ifixit you can exactly see the unit that creates these frame.
Thank you very much! I also experienced this on my Galaxy s6. I ordered a replacement and also noticed it.
Just to let you now guys.I tested 4 new s6 devices and all of them had this issue!!!This is a big thing and nobody is making the real fuzz abou it.So i picked up Note 4 with Exynos.Do not buy s6, wait for month of two just so they can resolve this.
I think it is a design problem and there will be no fix for it.
If that is the case, then ppl should make a big deal about it.I don not have this phone anymore but I would like to help if this issue continues.I will contact samsung via facebook and see what we can do.
I got my replacement yesterday and yes, the problem still exists. The phone is from Vietnam, 04/15/15.
The story goes on. After Amazon Germany stopped selling the black 64 GB edition I replaced my one against the white 64 GB. This one shows the frame on any background. Not only white. Only on very dark ones there is no see.
And I can see it under normal light conditions. Not only sunlight.
A very very very bad Display.
Why is it just this quiet about the issue? It's not less ugly like the flash LED or the wiggling home button issue.
My S6 (Germany; Mediamarkt) doesn't seem to have a a burn-in.

Try this in direct sunlight please with max brightness.
It is not a real burn in. It is a frame of a used component that Lays direct under the display.
Real screen burnin
We were at the Verizon store today and noticed that all the Edge phones had real screen burn in. One had the Verizon logo burnt into the screen that you could see clearly from within any app with a white background. We used chrome and a normal web page to show the employees of the store. The galaxy s6 egde had some sort of Verizon demo bar burnt into it. It seems to be a problem with the screens. I googled for it and found this thread. I am surprised this hasn't become a serious problem for Samsung yet.

Had a very bad screen burn in my S5 - i could actually see the title of the email app i have to use for work on a white screen without sunlight (title of the app is ALWAYS at the top when working in the app). Now had the S6 since it has been out and starting to see the same issue. Spoke with Samsung about this and they stated that the S4, S5, S6 and all Note devices are capable of getting screen burns with High Contrast imaging or lines. They said they could replace my screen but i would be without a device for nearly a month, and the carrier will not complete a warranty because the device still functions perfectly.
THANKS SAMSUNG!

[Q] Screen burn in on the S6

I went to a store to look at the demo today and was considering buying it.. I noticed terrible burn in on the S6 Edge demo unit. It was pretty bad.
I went to another store and it was fine there. The regular S6 was fine too.. but I was just wondering if anyone else has had this and if it a problem one should be worried about?
Attaching a couple of pics I took quickly. (the banding diagonal lines are because of the lighting)
The home screen and the icons on it are burnt in pretty bad.
That sure looks bad, but don't worry it won't happen with normal usage. The reason why this happens on some demo units is because they are displaying the same screen for way to long at often the highest brightness. I thinks it's okay to tell the sales people there that they should have some demo video software running on the device rather than a it showing the same screen al the time.

[Q] Screen Issue / Burn In / Dead Pixels??? 32GB Galaxy S6 920W (Canadian Version)...

Hi All... Been a while since I posted here on XDA and hoping for some assistance.
My S6 recently seems to have an issue with the screen (mainly on whites) where there is a dark streak that runs vertically on the left side of the screen from top to bottom and slightly to the right on the bottom (makes an L shape) that seems to ONLY be noticable in NATURAL light.
What I mean is under any lamps or fluorescent lighting it is not noticible or very minimally but as soon as it's in the sun it's as plain as day.
I've taken screen shots of the issue and even in the screenies, it's only noticable in natural sunlight and not in "fake light" so I don't know if posting a screen shot will help but I have none the less.
Has anyone e else had this issue and if so has there been a way to fix it?
I'm wondering if anyone else has this same issue and if so has anyone been able to fix it?
Please let me know...
Thanks,
Hey, I am currently using my galazy s6, I watched your screenshot but actually, even when I am in sunlight I cant see a problem, so the problem is in your screen itself and when you take a screenshot and send it, no one can see it ( like when your screen is cracked.) So your screen might be faulty, I think you need to go to where you purchased it and hope for replacement.
Thanks for the reply. Ya... I've gone back and they have seen the issue but if course since I've had the phone for more than 2 weeks they won't do a replacement on the phone and want me to send it for manufacturers warranty. I even have the extended warranty that I pay 10 bucks a month for but NOW they told me that if I want to use that I would have to pay a 250 dollar deductible for a replacement...
I just don't understand why it's only noticible under sunlight?...
