I have a Verizon LG-VK410 GPad 7.0 LTE. It is currently running Android version 5.0.2. I have rooted, but am not able to boot into recovery mode to install a custom rom(like one from CM). I have tried using the power button with volume down, release power button while still holding volume down when LG logo appears for a few seconds then hold volume down, up, and power button at same time combination. Sorry for the run on sentence! Multiple times and different combinations. I have tried using the following apps: Flashify, Quick Boot, Reboot. All of which failed! So I guess the next question is, am I stuck with Lollipop? Or can I put a custom rom of Marshmallow from CM? I am stunned.....I am really grateful for this site, and the people who take time to help people like me!!! Very awesome in todays world! Thank you XDA!
I was wondering the same thing. I rooted my VK410 using KingRoot, with no issues. Then I'd flash a new ROM, but it never took. After the reboot, it would go right back to the current OS.

Anyone knows how to enter recovery mode on Optimus one?
vol down + home + power
aint working on mine...
I tried vol down + home + power when my phone was switched off and voila, it got reset . Does not matter much as I am playing with it and shoud be ready for consequences But this is not what I expected to see.
What did I do wrong? I tried using vol down + home + power when phone is ON unlocked/locked both, did not do anything.
Install the custom recovery, then the 3-button-combo should work.
With stock firmware, I think you can't enter recovery...

I am hearing this (Custom Recovery) for first time, I don't know how I missed it. :| Thanks, will try that too.
I was having the same problem, so I downloaded on Google Play the "Rom Recovery", inside app I download the Recovery.
Fine, now [ Home + volume donw + power ] enters into custom recovery.
Reboot into Recovery
You first have to install Custom Recovery, The easiest way is to download Rom Manager and flash recovery from there (your phone should be rooted for that).
After the recovery is successfully flashed, you can reboot into recovery from there itself (there is an option for that).
Or if you want to manually reboot into recovery, shut down the phone and press and hold Power + Vol up + Home keys.
If it didn't work, again shut down the phone, turn on the phone and as soon as you see the LG logo, press and hold Vol UP/DOWN + Home keys (no need to press or hold the Power key).
Guys, i was having the same issue on mine. Luckly i'm as dumb as i am smart and i kept trying... What happened on mine was that i was using the custom recovery named "TWRP - 2.8.3".. Specifically in this version, the shortcut keys combo to access the recovery mode is with Vol UP+home+power. Hope i have helped you! See ya!

Oh the irony of calling me idiot and you don't realize this is a post from 14th February 2011. duh.
I ended up trying at least 10 roms until I finally went back to stock V20 from LG which worked best of all in long run. Later bought multiple android devices like HTC M8, LG G4, V10 etc. and played with them.
Also I was new at the time of the comment, starting with my first android phone and all. Just thought I would try whatever I could find to play with the phone. Also my post clearly shows I understood the risk and was amused at my stupidity myself.

Wanna sell your lg phone?
Have LG Optimus screen cracked and froze switched screens with good one phone turned on but stuck at lg boot screen .Can't get passed lg screen phone just keeps looping back .Took it to metro PCs where it was factory reset and still lg screen stops .Is there anyway to get my phone working again
?
HI!
I just one click rooted my phone and afterwards tried to install the gingerbread android revolution rom. Now I am stuck in an endless boot. I have tried to hold down the power button and the volume up and down button and also the power and up volume button. I get vibration and then the orange indicator lights blinks....but no boot.
Any idea what to do here? I'm stumped. Used to the captivate where I could easily get into recovery and odin it back.
Ok... uggh held down the down volume button and power and got into recovery mod. Doing a fresh data wipe and going to try and reinstall the rom...
Ok, well second flash was a charm. Phew! I was in panic mode a bit. There doesn't seem to be as many safe guards available for this phone compared to my captivate. With that said, enjoying the new rom and 2.3
I've recently upgraded to ICS, and am now trying to root my newly upgraded SGS2 phone. I am stuck trying to enter the Recovery Mode. I've searched online for guides on how to root, and many individuals instruct to hold the Volume Up + Volume Down + Power button, then when the SAMSUNG logo appears, let go of the Power Button. The recovery mode menu does not appear. Can anyone help?
Have you entered download mode and flashed the custom recovery through Odin? All this info can easily be found in the all in one guide that is stickied at the top.
More info is needed. How did you upgrade? Was it a one click method?

Here is your link for the instructional thread. Please read this carefully. Everything you need will be on the first page. Any reason why you wish to root? Only reason I ask is because you are a new user.

Regardless of which recovery you have it has to come up.
Turn the phone off, now hold all three vol up/down and power once phone vibrates let go off power, don't wait for the logo
Since updating to Lollypop via OTA sideload I've noticed the volume buttons don't allow me to get to the menu in the new stock recovery. It just sits at the screen with the dead android and red exclamation mark. The up down buttons worked fine with the 4.4.4 stock recovery. I tried reflashing the 5.0 stock recovery with Flashify, but it makes no difference. TWRP works fine, but I usually like to reflash the stock recovery after using TWRP to ensure I can still remote wipe my device via Android device manager if need be. Is anyone else seeing this issue with the 5.0 stock recovery?

Press all three buttons (volume up, down, and power) at the same time. May have to press them a few times. The text will pop up allowing you to do stuff.
Many thanks. I tried holding down all the buttons and did it a few times as you said, but it didn't help. Still stuck on that dead droid screen. I guess it's not the biggest problem in the world though. I'll try again tomorrow.

When you are on the dead android screen, pres volume UP and Power simultaneously to bring up the stock recovery menu.
Many thanks. Power quickly followed by volume up was the combo that finally worked for me after 4 or 5 attempts. On KitKat it was so much simpler!

I have a boost mobile LG Stylo that I rooted last November using 6th_Hokage's custom room method provided here http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-stylo/development/boost-stylo-5-1-1-zv5-custom-rom-v1-t3216307 on this forum. I used the rooted-zv5-system.img file. All has been well for 7 moths until last night when I was using Google Chrome and the app hung (which happens occasionally, not frequently). Had to pull and reinstert battery and upon booting, I am getting in this weird loop of Setup/Activation Wizard - Wifi Connect - and TalkBack Activation that I cannot get out of. HOME and RECENT SCREENS buttons are disabled, BACK button is enabled. I am assuming some corruption took place.
Can anyone point me in the direction of steps to take on resolving this? I am good either going back to factory or root, I just need my phone working. I have reviewed this forum, and am confused on best option on how to proceed, or do I have a permanent brick.
Thanks so much in advance for the assistance!
I'd reset it from recovery mode. I reset my phone whenever it acts wonky. When you do reset it in recovery do it like 3 times like you are clearing it out to put in a rom. If all else fails you can at least flash the rooted rom or original rom again, Good Luck! At least you have root, I'm on 6.0 and no root sux big time!

Thanks so much. Cool, I hope it is an easy fix. Because I am pretty much a noob with this stuff, I have never "cleared it out" to put in a rom. I might have done it, but do not recall. I will have to review my process steps again to make sure. Any chance you can provide some step by step instruction that I can follow with regard to resetting and clearing out from recovery mode?.
Here are the steps I found online, does this look correct to you...a hard factory reset? Is this ok even with rooted phone?
Hard reset LG G Stylo
Turn off the device
Press and hold Volume Down key + Power Key about 6-7 seconds
Release Power key when LG logo appear
When still pressing Volume Down key, press Power key one more
Release Volume down key when Factory Data Reset menu appears
Use Volume key to select “Yes”
Pres Power key to confirm.
I do still have the rooted rom I originally used and instructions from 6th_Hockage...are you saying that if I just flash that again following the steps I used to originally root the phone that this will work even though the phone is already rooted?
Thanks!
Turn off the device
Press and hold Volume Down key + Power Key about 6-7 seconds
Release Power key when LG logo appear AND it says "Recovery Mode"
You'll get a recovery menu and you use the volume up and down keys to highlight the "factory reset" after highlighting "factory reset" press the power key to activate selection. Do that three times and you will have a clean slate of your rooted rom.
You don't have to re-flash the reset will be the rooted rom
Did it work???
