Need Help, bricked? - HTC Inspire 4G

HI!
I just one click rooted my phone and afterwards tried to install the gingerbread android revolution rom. Now I am stuck in an endless boot. I have tried to hold down the power button and the volume up and down button and also the power and up volume button. I get vibration and then the orange indicator lights blinks....but no boot.
Any idea what to do here? I'm stumped. Used to the captivate where I could easily get into recovery and odin it back.

Ok... uggh held down the down volume button and power and got into recovery mod. Doing a fresh data wipe and going to try and reinstall the rom...

Ok, well second flash was a charm. Phew! I was in panic mode a bit. There doesn't seem to be as many safe guards available for this phone compared to my captivate. With that said, enjoying the new rom and 2.3

[Q] Clockwork mod problem

Hi,
I've been trawling the site looking for answers but to no avail.
No one seems to have a problem the same as mine.
I have an Inspire 4G AT&T
It has been rooted and I have run Coredroid and the latest Leedroid on it.
Everything is running fine except for the volume up button not working.... common problem.
Just in the last couple of days when I do a recovery boot,
There is no clockwork recovery.
There is no Hboot.
I get a constant red blinking light and three vibrates.
If I try to Hboot holding on and up key , I get 5 vibrates and a green flashing light.
Phone will not boot till after about an hour when it happily reboots to Leedroid like nothing has ever happened. Everything runs great apart from this.
Has anyone ever seen a problem like this?
Cannot load any more roms into it till the clockwork mod is sorted
Is you button broken, or is it stuck in one of the up or down positions? If broke, you can always boot into recovery via adb:
adb reboot recovery
Or boot to HBOOT:
adb reboot oem-42
It the button is stuck, then you'll have to disconnect it so it doesn't interfere with the booting process (this breaks seals and voids warranties).

Turn your phone off then hold volume down button then power and see if it works.
sent from my unity loaded inspire 4G
Button down and power gives me a red blinking light and 3 vibrates.
nothing on screen. It could be the button being erratic as I often get volume up on screen when I do get it loading. If the button was getting an up press during boot, how will this affect the startup process ?
I have done some fiddling as suggested and have found the volume up button to be sticking.
Have removed ribbon cable. now all I have to do is make clockwork work without sound buttons.
Changed recovery bootloader to

All is good now. No sound buttons needed...

[Q] Can't get into CWM recovery after installing MIUI 1.9.23

This post belongs to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278053 but since I don't have enough posts to reply there, here's my issue.
On my Infuse 4G I had Serendipity VII, then flashed over MIUI 1.9.23 which I downloaded from the abovementioned thread. Backed up rom, wiped data and cache, rebooted all good. But when it comes to enter into recovery to flash the MIUI zip again (as per the instructions at the thread above), my phone is stuck at the "Samsung" logo.
Tried battery pull, various hardware button combos, no luck so far. What is the correct hardware button combination to get into CWM from boot? I thought it was volume up + power on, but that didn't work. Tried volume up + home button + power on, no luck either.
So as of now... I'm with a dead Infuse.
Any help would really be appreciated
Thanks!
- Adriano
Same here, I can't even get into the blue CWM recovery. If I don't hold any buttons the phone will go into MIUI like normal but I want to get into recovery to backup and restore.
for me it's even worse... my phone is stuck at the Samsung logo.
Turn off your phone, press and hold down volume up, volume down, and the power button. When you hold them you'll see the Samsung logo, keep holding them. The screen will go black and in like five seconds a SECOND TIME the Samsung logo will appear, you can then let go of the buttons and you should be on cwm

I've tried going into Rom Manager and re-flashing recovery for the "Galaxy S i9000" and it says it's successful but I still can't get into recovery.
So I do have a working MIUI phone but now I seem to be stuck on this ROM

ROM Manager's recovery is worthless...
Use the instructions given above for the three-finger-salute in order to enter kernel recovery.
Entering recovery from boot can be tricky sometimes.
Sounds like Mikey somehow broke the "reboot recovery" command.

Yeah I've 3 fingered about 10 times now, pulled battery, tried rebooting into recovery from MIUI power menu and from RM menu, made sure to wait for the second SAMSUNG to appear, etc but still have not been able to get into CWM recovery. The logo just stays up forever.
Dang I don't really want to Odin back to stock anyone have thoughts as to how I can get this fixed?
Took me awhile to figure it out, I'm on Miui too and recovery works just fine.
This is what you should be doing:
1. Hold all the buttons down. (Volume Up + Down + Power)
2. When you see the Samsung logo, let go of the power and keep holding both volume buttons until you get into CWM.

Yup. Same works for any CWM-enabled kernel back in Samsung-firmware-land.
Ok well I got this fixed ghetto style.
I used SGS kernel flasher to put the Bedwa gingerbread kernel, then after reboot the female robot voice said there was not enough space in the partition.
However, at this point I was [finally] able to 3 finger my way into CWM - the red one, not the blue that MIUI was showing, and from there I could reinstall Infused from the SD card. Still no idea why the MIUI kernel would not let me into recovery!
ok figured to let you guys know how did it go for me after I was able to boot into CWM (thanks again florelui001p for the tip btw) -- was able to flash MIUI and after the reboot things went fine.
Played a bit around with MIUI (first time I was trying an MIUI rom), didn't quite like the complete reskinning of the plain vanilla android UI (don't get me wrong, the quality and amount of the work that must be behind MIUI is impressive, it's just me that I prefer things more "barebone" style).
So after my brief experience with MIUI, I tried to restore a couple of CWM rom backups I took earlier today -- and CWM was unable to restore either one... sweet. So I went for flashing the latest Infused (as of now) 2.3.3 -- and no surprise there. A great rom for the Infuse. So far with the Infuse aside from the stock rom, I've been on Infused, Serendipity VII and MIUI. Still hoping/waiting for CM7... used to love it on my old Nexus One.

i've tried all the things u said but no success. then i've tried to enter download mode and after going to recovery with vol up + home + phone worked
Three finger does still work in MIUI/CM7, but it seems REALLY finicky for some reason.

I've never had a problem. Here's a trick I use to get into recovery "100% of the time, every time":
Make sure your phone is unplugged from any charger/USB. Remove, and replace your battery. Place your phone on it's side, volume buttons down, on a desk/table. Press down until you feel the volume buttons depressed, and keep holding the phone with pressure. Press and hold the power until you see the Samsung logo, keeping your phone mashed against the table. When you see CWM, you can release the pressure on your phone, reconnect to cables, do whatever.
After flashing 1.9.30, I cannot access clockwork recovery from ANY method, 3 finger salute won't work, trying from MIUI won't work, reflashing clockwork from ROM manager won't work.
What am I suppose to do?
Have you tried the steps below?

The caveat is to wait for the second time the Samsung logo appears, and then release all buttons.

this worked for me.

Okay so if you were one of the few people who lost recovery for some weird reason "ME" no need to unbrick to stock and re-flash I have a solution.
1: Download sgs kernel flasher
2: Download CWM community kernel
3: Flash kernel via sgs kernel flasher "unchecked the reboot button" when done flashing turn phone of "SHUTDOWN"
4: 3 finger until the Samsung logo pops up keep holding the buttons the screen will go black then Samsung logo will come up, let go of the power button and keep hold the volume up and down buttons "For about 20 seconds" then let go it should boot into Red CWM after a few seconds.
5: Go to install zip from SD card go all the way down and run update.zip it will boot back into RED CWM run update.zip again and it should now boot into GREEN CWM
6: From here Re-Flash MIUI "New Release would be smart", Wipe Fact,Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik, Flash, reboot at sign of Samsung logo pull battery, 3 finger into blue recovery and flash again.
7: Presto you should be set and have recovery back.

Did I do something wrong?

I was trying to flash 3e recovery or whatever and ClockWork Mod and seemed to have almost no luck until I finally decided I'd plug my phone in to the computer after shutting it off. I then held the volume keys and power button to try to get into recovery, but then I got taken to a warning screen I guess telling me about flashing custom OS and it said to press the volume up key to continue or volume down to reboot, so I pressed volume up and now my screen says "downloading..." with a droid shoveling stuff and the bottom says "Do not turn off Target!!!" It's been like this for a while... what is it trying to do? Did I do something wrong or what?
you put your phone in download mode if you are not trying to odin back to stock or hemdaling one of the leaks just unplug your phone from your computer hold the volume up button and power button till your phone reboots
Alright I got out of that, but now my phone just says "Samsung". If I hold the volume up + down + power buttons, the screen will black out and "Samsung" will pop up again, but nothing happens. Am I bricked or something? I'm new to this. I just got my Infuse like two hours ago.
just hold the volume up button and power button once the phone goes black release them if it is stuck on the samsung screen you are soft bricked go to the infuse super thread and look for gtg ultimate unbrick download it and read instructions in the op
edit: i use the first one in the thread that will also give you root plus mod 3e recovery if you want to do custom roms there are some good posts just do a search
Yeah I found that thread in case something like this happened before-hand and got it to work again. Thanks!
your welcome there is a very good guide right below this post it is very hard to brick this phone for roms i would recomend zeus it is quick and stable
That's what I'm going for.
glad i could help i remember that panicy feeling the first time i soft bricked my phone you will like zues there are alot of themes for it too

[Q] Help Nexus S Totally Bricked!

Please help if you can, would really appreciate, dont know how to unbick my totally F$$$$### Nexus S Phone.
Even in recovery/fastboot mode on my Nexus S (Vol up+power), I cannot get my system to recognize the device....in fact, even in Windows, I am not able to get the system to recognize my device in Recovery mode/Fastboot mode....the only way it will recognize the device is if it is turned on the normal way, and hangs on the "Google unlocked icon" screen.
Some background info:
My power button recently stopped working...I thought it had to do with the fact that I updated NexusTools (was running a CyberGR rom...cant remember the name...had V4 Ultimate in it (downloaded from Rom Manager)).
So what I did was download/install (from the same developer) their hybrid ics rom....that did not brick it...but it also did not fix the power button...so after not liking the new rom, and the fact that it didnt fix my power button, I reflashed to the original rom I had installed (wiped everything, including doing a factory reset), and it just hung on "Google unlocked icon"
Now my phone does the following:
- First of all, the only way to power the device up is to plug it in (it automatically turns on and tries to boot without me pressing the non-functional power button)
- If I let it try to boot, it infinity hangs on the Google unlocked icon screen
- If I boot into recovery (by holding vol up button and plugging the phone into a power source), it hangs on the recovery screen...meaning the power button, as well as the volume buttons, as well as any buttons are non responsive.
- If I boot into recovery, the device doesnt even register on my system....
What am I doing wrong? What can I do to try and fix this?
I would truly appreciate if anyone reading this has some insights for me.
THANKS!!

yes, sounds like a dead power button(i have one myself).
try going back into your recovery, do a full data wipe(factory reset), then reflash the rom(and gapps). if still nothing, redownload the rom and try again. in your recovery, there is an usb option. use it to transfer your newly downloaded rom from your computer to phone.
Once I am in recovery mode it "freezes" though...as in not even the volume buttons work...they worked fine before, and even work to get into recovery mode...but once there they no longer work...nor does connecting the device in recovery mode to my laptop....so im kind of at a loss, as I cant even use Fastboot/adb to wipe/push anything on the Nexus S through my laptop

im guessing that your using cwm recovery?
give your phone a few smacks on the back near the power button, your phone thinks its being pressed in.
yes, it definitely thinks it is being pressed in...thats for sure...and makes sense...ill try that haha!
Yes latest CWM Recovery...5.0.2 or something like that...just updated that before phone died...
Weird...so i "smacked" the phone a bit...when I do it in recovery mode, it reboots the phone into recovery....so it definitely thinks its being pressed down constantly...but I have found no way to make it "un-pressed"...only briefly by smacking it...

in twrp recovery, theres an option to not use the power button to select(thats what im using), is there a similar option in the newer cwm recovery? tr\y pressing the soft buttons). also, see if sticking a fingernail in between the power button helps, to pull out the button a bit.
After continuingto smack it...as well as "pulling" on the power button, I am not able to use volume buttons and power buttons within recovery...flashing a new rom now...will let you know if that fixes it...otherwise I will try unbickable in ubuntu again and see if that fixes it thanks for the pro-tip of smacking it, haha!

[Q] Have I bricked it?

I haven't seen anything that quite fits my situation, I unlocked my tablet, and rooted it, and installed CWM. I then went to install CM nightly and upon reboot the tablet froze at the ASUS boot screen, I've tried rebooting by holding the power button down, holding the power and volume down button down, and power and volume up, with no luck. I've also tried letting the battery die and then booting back up with no luck. Could anyone provide any assistance?
Thanks.
Now when you say it froze, you mean you let it sit there for awhile right? You gotta give ROM's time to create a cache! Try using fastboot to boot into recovery and install stock just to make sure it works

Cwm has issues on this unit, I suggest twrp when you get to that point.
To recover your unit you have to be able to use adb, fastboot, or recovery.
Here is a link to help you get into position to use one of those.
Good Luck!
Note: If you get into the bootloader menu do not use WIPE DATA!
