Hi,
I've been trawling the site looking for answers but to no avail.
No one seems to have a problem the same as mine.
I have an Inspire 4G AT&T
It has been rooted and I have run Coredroid and the latest Leedroid on it.
Everything is running fine except for the volume up button not working.... common problem.
Just in the last couple of days when I do a recovery boot,
There is no clockwork recovery.
There is no Hboot.
I get a constant red blinking light and three vibrates.
If I try to Hboot holding on and up key , I get 5 vibrates and a green flashing light.
Phone will not boot till after about an hour when it happily reboots to Leedroid like nothing has ever happened. Everything runs great apart from this.
Has anyone ever seen a problem like this?
Cannot load any more roms into it till the clockwork mod is sorted
Is you button broken, or is it stuck in one of the up or down positions? If broke, you can always boot into recovery via adb:
adb reboot recovery
Or boot to HBOOT:
adb reboot oem-42
It the button is stuck, then you'll have to disconnect it so it doesn't interfere with the booting process (this breaks seals and voids warranties).

Turn your phone off then hold volume down button then power and see if it works.
sent from my unity loaded inspire 4G
Button down and power gives me a red blinking light and 3 vibrates.
nothing on screen. It could be the button being erratic as I often get volume up on screen when I do get it loading. If the button was getting an up press during boot, how will this affect the startup process ?
I have done some fiddling as suggested and have found the volume up button to be sticking.
Have removed ribbon cable. now all I have to do is make clockwork work without sound buttons.
Changed recovery bootloader to

All is good now. No sound buttons needed...

HI!
I just one click rooted my phone and afterwards tried to install the gingerbread android revolution rom. Now I am stuck in an endless boot. I have tried to hold down the power button and the volume up and down button and also the power and up volume button. I get vibration and then the orange indicator lights blinks....but no boot.
Any idea what to do here? I'm stumped. Used to the captivate where I could easily get into recovery and odin it back.
Ok... uggh held down the down volume button and power and got into recovery mod. Doing a fresh data wipe and going to try and reinstall the rom...
Ok, well second flash was a charm. Phew! I was in panic mode a bit. There doesn't seem to be as many safe guards available for this phone compared to my captivate. With that said, enjoying the new rom and 2.3
Alright, guys, see if you can help me. Ive got a rooted HTC Inspire with the latest version of clockwork installed. I tried to flash a ROM of cyanogenmod7 onto my phone earlier from a download through ROM manager, but now my phone won't boot. It powers on, vibrates, shows the "HTC" on the screen, then repeats the whole process. I can't boot into clockwork recovery, either. I hold down both volume buttons and hit power then the phone vibrates 5 times. The green LED comes on, but no screen image is displayed.
Any clue on how to fix this, or even better, get into clockwork?
Also, i apologize if this question has already been asked.
Have you tried this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1019868
EDIT: You need to hold only the volume down then power till you see the white screen. Not both volume buttons.

There's a guide stickied to this general section that should help you.

For one thing, I don't think holding down *both* power buttons does anything on this phone.
Vol-down (only) + power gets you to hboot.

Yes, it's updating now in recovery. Thanks everyone! I knew that there was something I was doing wrong, as I had the same issue last night.
Thanks again for all the help!
So I've been using CM10 nightlies for months without a problem, and today I installed the newest nightly. The phone now boots, showing the HTC screen, and then goes black. It is responsive to pushing the power button. but all that happens is the backlight turns on, but the screen is still blank. I've read about problems associated with the new 3.17 update, but to my knowledge I have not installed this update. So what can I do? I'm hoping just reverting to the previous nightly can solve this problem?
Hold the power button for about 30 seconds.. And everytime you hold the power button does it boot up to the HTC screen or does it go blank... It could be your LCD blunked out on you but I doubt it....
No, when I do this the HTC screen comes up and then it just goes to black. I don't get the CM spinny wheel or anything, but the screen is definitely still fine.
Hold volume down and power than get to bootloader
Hold volume down and power together while the phone is booting. The hardware keys will blink 5 times then the phone will go off. Let Go of volume down and power. Wait 5 seconds press volume down and power. It will go into bootloader. Select recovery, you'll be in recovery. Flash whatever, brick your phone as you can't read enough to figure out a: don't post twice and b: how to get into the bootloader of the phone you rooted. I'm shocked you got this far.

Thanks so much for being so helpful! I'm not an idiot. I've been installing these nightlies for months without a problem, and this just suddenly arose with the latest one. I tried flashing back to the older nightly, but now the phone boots and is just stuck on the spinning CM animation.

If it gets stuck on the boot logo, then you probably need to manually flash the kernal which should be included in the roms zip/rar file.
Yep, reinstalling kernel and new nightly did the trick. And in the process I'm now running 4.2!
Hi - I just flashed ViperXL via TWRP (2.5, IIRC), but haven't flashed boot.img yet. Phone is now rebooting to the dev screen, then the One logo screen, then black again. I can't get to the bootloader or to TWRP. I've tried the volume-down button during boot to no avail. I've got ADB at the ready if needed...
S-On, hboot 1.14. I've done this many times before w/o issue.
Any ideas?
While the phone is rebooting just keep holding volume down. If it isn't working it's a case of bad timing. You need to flash the boot.img, why didn't you? Also, you should upgrade to TWRP 2.6 because 2.5 is full of bugs.

I agree with timmaaa, failure to get into hboot if the screen comes on, is almost always a matter of not performing the button sequence correctly.
The most common errors while dooing this:
1) Letting go of the vol down rocker too early
2) If you press the vol down rocker after the white "HTC One X" boot splash screen is already up, its too late. You have to do it before the boot splash appears.
The most foolproof way to do it, is hold both vol down and power at the same time. Hold them for several seconds while the screen is on, and the capacitive buttons should flash a few times, then the screen should go black as the phone restarts. Let go of the power button ONLY, and DO NOT let go of the vol down rocker until the bootloader screen appears.
EDIT. Thanks (sarcastically) for solving your issue on another thread here, and then not updating us here. (cross posting is against the rules for a reason). I wasted my time trying to help, when you already solved it.
After flashing cm-11-20140930-NIGHTLY-ville using recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.8-ville I get "HTC quietly brilliant" logo for a couple of seconds and a black screen. Same problem when holding vol- and pwr (soft buttons are blinking, but no LED indicator).
I tried reinstalling rom using fastboot, but <adb device> shows no device. Probably because there is no USB driver on the phone, since I've wiped it in recovery. Reinstalling HTC Sync manager and some HTC drivers packs didn't help.
Thankful for any idea!
Try to get to the bootloader and post what's written. As it seems alive it should work.
I guess you're S-ON and you didn't flash the kernel with fastboot.

I cannot get into the bootloader. I mean, I can't see it because my screen is all black.

I forgot to check is it S-OFF or S-ON I flashed the ROM with CWM.
Try to hold power during 15 seconds with volume down pressed. It should go into bootloader. If you can't get there I'd be surprised...
Dude, it worked! :good: I bought today some plastic LG sh*t, because I've been without phone for a week :crying: Just came from work and checked Your reply and tried vol- and pwr (but I did this a dozens of times in last couple of days and the only thing that happened is 5x blinks of soft buttons)
Is it possible that my Volume- button isn't working well (I've noticed that sometimes needs pressing harder or twice) or I am just stupid?
Yes the volume down button can be a little tricky. I don't know how to go to the bootloader if you don't have a running OS neither volume down working.
