[Q] What tablet should I buy? - Nvidia Shield Tablet vs Asus Zenpad S 8 Z580CA - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys!
So I have decided to purchase a tablet and after doing a lot of thinking and research and after some time all come up to two candidates: Nvidia Shield Tablet vs Asus Zenpad S 8 Z580CA (the 4 gigs of ram version)
Could you help me decide wich one should I buy? What tablet is better for you and why? Also is there any better candidates in your opinion for this size?
Thank you very much in advance

Well Asus can kiss my A** because they suck & do not support their products. I will never buy another Asus product again. I purchased a Asus TF101 which was a great tablet when it came out. There was only one major update on it. I then purchased a Nexus 7 which was built by Asus. I had to send it in four times because of not charging & not being recognized by my computer via USB. Now I came to the Zenpad 8 which again will never receive a major update even though most other phone in the lineup did receive marshmallow. Asus KISS my A**!

Anyone was able to score Asus?

Just wondering if anyone was able to buy Asus today?
I was one the few that got in on the tigerdirect bundle yesterday. Should be in my hands in a few hours.
Mine is due in tomorrow. Grabbed it from NewEgg during one of the small windows where it wasn't listed as sold out, and because it's shipping from Memphis (where I live), I paid for 3-day and I'll get it overnight I was close to grabbing the Iconia instead because I hate having to chase things down, but hey, I lucked out ... though the Iconia is a great tab too, either way I would've been happy. But I think the Transformer will get more XDA love.
enjoy them.. Hope someone can post nice pics..
I really want to get this tablet, but the lack of a usb port on the tablet itself is making me think twice. It's almost like they're forcing you to buy the keyboard dock.
That wasn't an issue for me, I've already got a dock preordered. Plus the extra battery and full sd card slot on the dock is a plus since the only thing i use my usb on my gtab for is for my external hard drive. Extra battery on the dock will let me run alot longer using it.

Just saying "Thank You" and goodbye

I just want to say thank you for all of the info and help that I got on this forum.
I broke my Viewsonic gtablet about to weeks ago, dropped it on the charging plug and broke the interior plug. Lucky for me, I had an extended warrenty on it and got my money back.
I turned around and bought the new Asus Transformer and it sure was worth the extra ~$100. Everything about it seems better, ie, screen, speed, software....
Although I will not be on this site anymore, I am activily on the Asus Transformer site here, and thanks again for all that infor.

Rootable tablet under $300?

Hey all, I am looking to get a tablet.
I don't mind getting a refurb or a good condition used tablet.
Here is what specs I am looking for:
10-ish inch screen
Rootable
Dual-core processor
HDMI would be nice
USB slot and/or memory card slot
Prefer at least 16gb storage
So far, I have found the Viewsonic gTablet, Motorola Xoom, the Acer Iconia series, or the Asus Transformer...any others I should be looking at? Of those listed, which are my best bets?
TIA!
GEt on cowboom and look for some Asus Transformers. And if those aren't your cup of Tea they have zillions of tables for around 250.

Keyboard Dock for $116.99

I ordered a transformer prime dock from buyspry.com for $116.99. I'm not sure if they ran out of stock or something but it arrived today and was the transformer pad infinity dock. On the box it says transformer pad mobile dock, compatible with tf700 and tf201. On the back of the box is says tf700 on the bar code. Not sure if this will be consistent but if you were looking at picking up the prime dock anyhow, you might just get an infinity dock for pretty cheap.
same dock everybody got, nice price
Got mine from there as well shipped in 3 days when I was expecting it to be closer to a week.
Had a couple of issues with it. ASUS' fault; not BuySpry's though

Still haven't gotten an SD Card to verify if port actually works or not.

Repair questions

I returned my Asus TF300T back to Argos (UK) due to banding/lines across the screen and they RMAd the tablet.
A day later I find out it is colour banding and Asus TF300s running Android 4.2.1 suffer from this. Along with the Nexus 7.
Will they charge me? What will they do with regards to repair?
Thanks
