Keyboard Dock for $116.99 - Asus Transformer TF700

I ordered a transformer prime dock from buyspry.com for $116.99. I'm not sure if they ran out of stock or something but it arrived today and was the transformer pad infinity dock. On the box it says transformer pad mobile dock, compatible with tf700 and tf201. On the back of the box is says tf700 on the bar code. Not sure if this will be consistent but if you were looking at picking up the prime dock anyhow, you might just get an infinity dock for pretty cheap.

same dock everybody got, nice price

Got mine from there as well shipped in 3 days when I was expecting it to be closer to a week.
Had a couple of issues with it. ASUS' fault; not BuySpry's though

Still haven't gotten an SD Card to verify if port actually works or not.

TF700 Dock

Quick question to anyone else who has bought a TF700 dock. I ordered one from office depot that arrived today, and the back of it shows:
Model: TF201 Mobile Docking
Customer P/N: TF700T-DOCK-GR
Is this the TF700 dock after all, or is this the 201 dock? Very confusing label.

EDIT: it's been confirmed by Asus there is no difference in the docks. Just the label is different. Bad Asus, charging more for the label alone...

Someone with the TF201 dock confirm?
The TF201 dock is supposed to be very similar to the TF700 dock so I wouldn't know.

Yes, i can confirm the tf201 dock works with the in infinity. I just received my tf700 today. I read the dock for the prime works. Bought the tf201 dock from bestbuy a couple of hours after. Works perfect. BTW, its on sale for 99 on best buy.

Not sure. I got my dock yesterday, the tf700 is coming in today. Was hoping to confirm that it's the right dock before opening so it would be easy to return.
I have bought the 64 GB version a few weeks ago (early-go retail) and my dock reports itself as the TF201 dock running on firmware 207. I guess we're all fine.
EDIT: typo. Thanks, mate! Now stop bugging me.
Are you sure? It should be firmware 207.

Thanks. I had heard it didnt' fit perfect, opened mine up, it's perfect!
One thing to note is you can get the 201 doc for 99 bucks at best buy, if they are shipping the 201 dock in place of the 700 specific dock, return it and buy it for the right price. I like that the old dock works, but obviously asus is being a little shady shipping the 201 dock in place of the new one assuming there even is a new one.
My 201 dock from Best Buy is a great fit.

Good to know it's the same mobile dock that everyone else have, also you look closely while it's folded the left and right side didn't match the right side doesn't have as much (gap between keyboard) clearance as the left near the bottom part of the tablet.

Don't be so sure - I ordered a TF700 and TF700 dock from Office Depot, but received the TF201 dock.
However, that being said, I don't believe I've seen anyone with an "official" TF700 dock yet, so I'm not even sure one exists (yet, at least)...

I received my TF700 dock (ordered on Amazon via a reseller) and it is also the TF201 dock.
Images of the box are attached.

Is this why it seems the Prime docks just vanished? Everyone is on the bandwagon to charge more for old stock...
The tablet is so heavy it kind of makes it akward, I could only imagine the tf700 dock being supposedly lighter would make this worse. Wonder if they figured out the balance issue....

Does anyone actually have the tf700 dock?

Last week, I made the mistake or ordering a "bundle" from TigerDirect which included the infinity tablet + dock. The tablet was shipped promptly but the dock was immediately put on backorder - a detail which was missing from their web site which assures that the product will be shipped within days.
The pricing on the order added $23 to the cost of the tablet and subtracted $23 from the cost of the dock. So, if I cancel the dock I'm out $23. I'm not sure why TigerDirect did this other than to ensure that I'd wait for the dock to be shipped.
I would, of course, just like to buy a TF201 dock and save money in the process but TigerDirect has negated that option.
Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone actually has seen a bona-fide, not repackaged TF700 dock. I've scoured the forums looking for anyone who might actually have one but I haven't seen any reports. I also haven't seen any estimates on when these seemingly mythical entities will be shipped.
Anyone have any insight here?

I would like to know this too. Also, is this supposed TF700 dock actually going to have the same coloration as the TF700? Would prefer for them to match.

Well now my Amazon order for the dock says 2-4 weeks as opposed to the 1-2 months it said before. That's what it said for the tablet to before it became available the next day so hopefully it will be shipping soon! I didn't buy from the other sellers on Amazon because they are shipping out 201s according to reviews. I trust buying from Amazon directly though.
It's supposed to be technically the same as the tf201. Difference is the one for the infinity will be color matched to our tablets. Model wise, it's just a prime dock with updated firmware + color

The battery was moved to the front of the keyboard to help counter weight the tablet. The bigger battery would not fit so went with smaller battery.

Got my dock today from tigerdirect and it says tf201 all over it even under /settings/about tablet : MobileDock version TF201-DOCK-0207. The box did have a sticker on it labeling it TF700T-DOCK-GR but of course right above it it says Model:TF201Mobile Docking... Wish my brother were here with his prime so I could compare them, but it feels good, doesn't tip over and the color matches. Someone should call and complain maybe get them to price match it down to the tf201 model's 113.00 price tag. Not it.
Got the tf700-dock from office depot.
Box, sticker on the bottom of the dock, and the manual said tf201.
I have a prime and dock as well, the new dock is matched in color to the infinity and only barely different from the prime. They weigh 3 grams less. I suspect ASUS didn't get a delivery from the printer
All I can say is the color matches the infinity, not the prime. Dunno why it says 201 all over everything.

Where to buy the "real" TF700T dock?

It seems like 90% of the posts I read about TF700T docks are from people who have the relabeled 201 dock (some happy, some not), but there are also claims that people have seen the two designs torn down, so there must be "real" 700 docks apparently floating around out there to compare vs. relabeled ones. As far as I can tell, no European retailer carries the TF700 dock.
Just bought a dock from Best Buy today. Had the TF700 stickers over the TF201 sticker. But honestly people. This is the real dock. It even came with the new firmware. Nothing installed when i first the tablet into it and its up to date. Feels great to me. Fits perfect. The lock clicks fine. I think that we are chasing the REAL TF700 dock for nothing. If people had problems with it fitting, they must have had a defective dock or tablet. Even if the real dock does exist, I'm 100% happy with this dock. Everything seems to work. All the buttons work. What do you have to lose? Get it from Best Buy, stickers over stickers or not. If you hate it or have a problem, return it! Best Buy is good like that.
If it is not the same color it is Not the right dock. I don't care what sticker they put on it. Can you imagine buying a new car and having the dealer install a different hood that was last years model (but nothing has changed but the color) would yo be happy with that?

I don't really feel that I can compare this to a car. Because this dock being a slightly different color would not bother me one bit especially if it worked exactly the same. But of course a different color hood would.

There is no such thing as a "real" TF700 dock, other than the one with the stickers on the box.... It's been discussed to death already, but I truly believe that the docking part of the re-labeled TF700 dock is slightly different than the original TF201 dock. But other than that, it's really just the same dock and it works fine...

Good input. Does the machine tip over backwards when the screen is tilted fully backwards?
Yeah the balance issue is what concerned me as well -- I know they are functionally identical but if they really did relocate the battery to make it less prone to tipping over, that's something I want.
I can confirm that my TF700 does not "tip over" when tilted back all of the way... I have the dock that had the TF700 sticker over the TF201 designation...

I got the dock from Best Buy. Had to order it twice, because they didn't sent the shampain gold color. It has a sticker that it is a TF700/TF201 Mobile Docking. The problem I have is that the tablet doesn't fit easily into the dock. I have to use some pressure for the lock to it in place. I owned TF300 before, and the tablet easily got into its place in the dock. So, I am thinking, that maybe I need to have the keyboard replaced. Has anyone have the same issues with the dock?
The "real TF700 dock" is the Asus Transformer Pad Mobile Dock with a sticker that says "Compatible with: TF700 Series/TF201.
there was a post here about the dock for the tf500 which is also called the TF700/tf500 dock. Rumored to be on sale very soon, and I think that some retailers were already putting up info on Amazon etc.
I have yet to see a single dock for the 700 that has the contours for the 700 fit exactly in the dock mechanism. Seems to me like they are all one curve like the 200 is, not angular like the 700 is.
There was a post kicking around about the internals being identical, battery life being different because of power draw by the beefier tablet is greater than the older one. For now the 200 dock is all we have, however its labled.
And to anyone that says they have a legit 700 dock, dock your tablet, look at the dock mech and see the gaps between the angle of the base of the tablet and the smooth curve of the dock mech. Congrats, you have a 200 dock. If yours is a perfect fit then pics or it didnt happen.
Cheers!

I've been researching which tablet to buy and have been leaning heavily towards the TF700. Newegg has a combo with the TF300T KB/dock. Is the TF300T dock any better or worse than the TF500/700/201 or whatever dock? It has a 16W/h size battery according to the specs. And in the pictures it looks more blue rather then gray like the TF700...is that right? Should I bother looking for a different dock?

Prime dock is not locking properly

I recently exchanged my Prime for an Infinity and I'm noticing that the latch is not locking all the way. Damn it Asus! haha. Always something wrong. The latch locks partially and then I can slide it all the way to the right, if I don't, it can come off. I expect a 500 dollar device to get this kind of things right. I like the tablet but man I'm not sure I'll buy from Asus ever again.
Did you purchase a new dock or use the dock from the original Prime? Asus has stated that they are not compatible, even though they do work... Others have found the same issue with the tf201 dock...

I have the Prime dock. Yeah the website's search wasn't working but I found a topic where others talked about it. Oh well, I'm just gonna have to deal with it.
Just saw this at the Asus' site:
(The Eee Pad Transformer Prime mobile dock is NOT compatible with Transformer Pad Infinity)
Interesting. I bought the Infinity and the dock to go with it, but it is clearly a 201 dock. The box has a big sticker on it with TF700 but underneath it has the TF201 written above part number.
Mine locks in fine - what Serial number is yours? Mine starts with C7 (the dock, not the tablet)....
I have seen others saying the same thing, but since we essentially have the same dock, it baffles me that min locks perfectly fine and yours does not.
My TF201 dock does exactly the same. Nothing to worry about really. You just have to remember to latch it fully.
Yeah, there is obviously *some* difference in the docking portion of the TF201-specific dock. I know that someone did a teardown of both and they looked identical, but they didn't acutually go to the level of tearing down and comparing the actual docking part of the dock - I'm guessing that is where there is a slight difference...

It starts with C4.
Someone said it locked fine for him after some use, maybe the spring got softer. Hopefully I'll be as lucky.
Mine had docking issues the first few days, too. Had to manually force it to lock. (Push the tablet in as far as it can go and move the slide myself.) Now it works fine.
Bought it as one pack because the Netherlands doesn't have the loose variant at all, but the dock is a 201 regardless.
My UK Infinity supplied with the dock is being returned as the right hand pin doesn't lock the tablet. The lock pin slides completely to the locked position but the tablet can still be lifted out on that side (the left side stays locked).
I have to say I'm very disappointed that a premium device has shipped with such a fault - but have to commend Amazon UK's customer service in getting the issue resolved.
I have the same issue, i bought the device from the u.s but i live in the uk. It has been for repir 3 times and today i got it back and the problem still persists, I have been told that they will not exchange it and all that can be offered is further repairs. Each time i have sent it for repairs they have damaged my device. I am at a loss as to what my next course of action should be? The repair centre is in the czech republic. Can anyone offer any advise please? My dock is the correct one even though it was labled as tf201.i emailed asus with my seriel number and they confirmed it was the correct dock for my infinty.
I have the TF201 dock (the actual TF201 dock, bought at the same time with my ex-Prime). It fits exactly how it is described in this forum where the latch doesn't fully close unless you push it closed.
I think this is because the Infinity feels just a tiny bit thicker around the edges, therefore it doesn't fit properly in the dock and applies more pressure to it.
It's really not much of an inconvenience. I just gotta put a little more force into docking the tablet, and make sure to place the latch properly. In my opinion its not worth sending in for repairs because it works as intended, just needs a little more push since its not technically designed for the TF700.
One little trick to getting the TF700 to fit nice and easy into the TF201 that I found was, when docking it first push the tablet's docking edge a little bit into the docking part of the dock, then place it flush against the back-part of that component. While applying a little pressure to the back-part, slide it into the dock. This alleviates much of the resistance the dock gives usually, and I barely have to apply any more pressure; in fact it feels as if I am sliding the correct tablet, the TF201 into the TF201 dock.
Of course every dock could be different due to bad QC or wear-and-tear. My friend's TF201 dock got really really loose and the TF700 slides right in a little too easy to the point that it rocks a bit in the dock.
If you insist you can try to find the actual TF700 dock, I have never seen one in the wild but I am assuming that it will fit properly with the TF700, without that slight little extra bit of squeeze.

Thanks for your reply but I should explain further. I bought my device from the USA from a company called buyspry. The device has been in for 3 repairs from the UK and the dock does not stay attached. It does not fully lock and has been damaged by the repair centre. I was given the option of something called buy back from asus e.u. I was asked by the service manager in the UK to send a copy of my receipt which I did. I was further told that they would not accept my receipt because it was purchased from ebay and I was told the company are not an authorised asus stockist.
I have contacted this company and they have confirmed that they are an authorised asus stockist. Asus UK will not accept my ebay receipt but I have a commercial invoice. I have emailed the company in the USA and I am awaiting a reply from them as I have requested an email of the commercial invoice which needs to state there VAT number. Hopefully if this is accepted by asus UK I will be given a full refund. The whole process has been a nightmare and as such I regret buying from the USA as replacements are not offered in the UK and no swap stocks are available and the only other option I have is to send it for a further repair. I have owned the device for 2 months and for half that time it has been in for repairs. Each repair was made worse by dents and scratches and the screen bleed is just as bad if not worse. I hope this is of use to anyone experiencing these issues with a device bought from the usa.
Similar problem - which bit did you send back?

My UK Infinity supplied with the dock is being returned as the right hand pin doesn't lock the tablet. The lock pin slides completely to the locked position but the tablet can still be lifted out on that side (the left side stays locked).
I have to say I'm very disappointed that a premium device has shipped with such a fault - but have to commend Amazon UK's customer service in getting the issue resolved.

I have a very similar problem - neither pin engages, also from UK, also from Amazon. Did they ask you to return the pad & dock, or just the dock?

So here is how I ended up getting my transformer pad TF300t

I went to Amazon to purchase a transformer prime, I purchased it and the seller and for me that Amazon would fulfill the order Since I am an Amazon prime member. Amazon ended up sending the docking station for the Err pad transformer prime model TF201. I informed Amazon of their mistake and they told me they would refund my order and I could just reorder the item, so I did that and Amazon ended up sending me a second docking station for the transformer prime exact same model number.
I ended up going to Best Buy where I saw a transformer infinity, but I did not want to shell out $500. So I am not going with the transformer pad model TF 300 T. so far it's great, I love it.
When I got home I connected the transformer pad to the docking station for the transformer prime and it seems to work just fine minus the fact that it won't completely locked into place. I ended up going back to Best Buy and explaining it to the guy that sold me the tablet and he said those docking stations will crossover for any Asus tablet except the very first one they made. Apparently not model was too thick.
So my question to all of you is what model docking station do you have if you have one and will this model docking station ultimately messed up my tablet? Again everything on the docking station seems to work perfectly with the tablet it fits it just doesn't walk hundred percent it only wants about 50% of the way.
Here is what it says on the box for the Eee Pad:
Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 series mobile docking station. Hope that helps, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
TIA!
