I'm new to this forum so, before I say anything, I must apologize in advance in case i'm breaking any rules, and for my english.
I'm from Argentina and my brother brought me an unlocked Sony Z1 (L39h) from USA about a month and a half ago, since it's much cheaper over there. But I haven't been able to use it at all.
At first, the touchscreen didn't work properly. It recognized ghost touches all around the screen, that already made it impossible to use. So I went to sonymobile.com and checked in the support forums. One of the possible solutions was to upgrade to lollipop (it came with kitkat I think). Nothing happened and lollipop seemed to consume a lot more battery, so I decided to downgrade.
And thats when It all started.
I couldn't seem to get any signal. And even If I did with another firmware, I couln't make any phone calls, and if I turned the phone off, again no signal for 24 hs approximately.
I kept trying with other ftf files using flashtool, xperifirm o with direct downloads. No luck. I even lost the baseband number (or something like that) and IMEI. I must have tried like 50 different firmwares.
At first I thought mine was a C6903, but yesterday I realized it is a L39h. Tried again with specific firmwares for the model, but unsuccesfully again.
So, to sum up:
1- Touchscreen Problems
2-No signal, No phone calls (at first I could receive and make them, before I f***ed up with firmwares)
3- No baseband, no IMEI.
4- Don't know which is the original firmware that came with the phone.

I've been to several places, all point back to here. I've searching the site but it seems a guide does not exist for flashing my phone.
My problem> Phone was working perfectly fine 2 days ago> My email wouldn't load> So I thought if I restarted the phone it will work> The phone turned off perfectly well, and since then It will never turn on. It remains stuck on the Android boot screen.
To clarify: Phone was never rooted or unlocked. I never tampered or interfered with it in any way.
In an effort to fix it, I took it to a shop that repairs phones (since my warranty is over). They said they can fix it, but will charge me a price which is 70% of what I paid for the phone when it was new. I'm on a budget, I currently have no phone, and I can't afford a new one, or to pay for this one to be repaired.
I'd really appreciate some help. So far I've tried to unlock the bootloader, but this doesn't work as the phone won't start in the first place. I've tried doing hard resets, factory resets, and also cleared the cache, and none of these things solved the problem.
Please advise on how I can get flashed / working again.

1 month ago, I installed a mokee rom (one of the latest ones. That has android 7.1.2 Nougat) that I liked a lot. So, the problem came 3 o 4 days ago, 7 days top. And it is that my device started to act strange, in the matter that it does not receive signal from my provider (movistar), So, this problem hapenned after I proved a VPN service called Psiphon pro (I don't know if any of you have experienced it.) so the day after I used this VPN provider, my phone has no bars, and it says "sin servicio" ("no service", I think is the better translation). Well, I have tried every way that the web says, I tried another modem file (flashed with it), saw if the IMEI is consistant between the printed number inside the phone and what says the information of the rom (it does), I have seen the carrier is recognized by the phone, modified APN, and finally Im trying to install the STock ROM of my phone So, I need to know if the problem is my phone or is the VPN..... I don't Know if there's another stuff that I haven't tried yet. If there's another thing or if you recomend me another ROM that I could try and it has no problems with the carrier I will be gratefull.

So I had a P9000 that got the screen smashed.
I liked the phone, it was stuck on the 6.0 with the OTA issue, but everything worked fine for me... so I went ahead and bought a new P9000 (which should be faster than getting the part and repair the older one... which I planned to do anyway and keep it as a spare in case of another accident).
It arrived with a 6.0 installed as well, and everything seemed to work fine.
While setting up the phone, installing stuff etc... it got automatically updated to 7.0
THE ISSUES:
I can barely hear anything when people call me. I've read is a pretty common issue.
I've tried every possible solution I could find online... nothing works.
The only option is to put the call on speaker... which is not so handy for EVERY call EVERYWHERE.

I just went on a trip and realized data roaming is not working either.
I get phone signal, data and roaming options are both active (I tried both cards), checked the APN with the providers... all options again. No way to get it to work.
As soon as I landed back it worked without issues.
With the other phone/ROM I never had issues.
SOLUTION?
I've read some time ago that rooting 7.0 on P9000 is kind of risky or doesn't work altogether.
Is this still true?
Do you recommend any specific instructions to do it? (I've rooted and installed ROM's in other phones, so not newbie but no expert either).
Which ROM would you recommend as of today?
I keep the phone pretty app-light, I use for work only... so these issues are really bad for me. And the Elephone customer care has been a total deal breaker.
I won't be buying from them anymore that's for sure, but I'd like to don't burn cash either and get some use out of the phone.

So, this is my first question ever, even tho I have followed XDA for about 10 years now... I used to flash phones back when xperia x10 was a big thing, however I have not done it in a while, now I'm looking to upgrade my phone S8+ to android 8, as I got it from my carrier here (Kolbi) however I'm possitive there will never be an update from them as is a local-only carrier, and no-one here cares about this so I really don't think it will ever happen. (anytime soon that is)
Anyway, I have g955fxxu1aqj5 and I was wondering if installing another firmarware for say just G955F, would work? (I dont need to have carrier specific firmware) I just care about the phone working fine, camera, conectivity, hardware basically, so my questions is if I can try installing other firmware like this for example:

hi, This is my first post. No, i am not an Android developer. I just have a weird Xperia D2306 phone. I don't think it is an Aqua. Pretty sure it would die a sad death if I dropped it in some water. Bought it unlocked from a little store in a little town in Ontario Canada bout 4 years ago when my almost new Xperia Z (which was waterproof) got stuck between a jeep and a hard place when it was just into a 3 year contract. kept the Z on life support long enough to use the Sony PC Companion to migrate everything to the second hand M2.
The M2 has always been a little odd. the few apps i download don't seem to be fully functional, some apps crash after an update. I was speaking to my mobile network provider Tech Support a month ago, ands said I had a Blackberry. And I said it was a Sony Xperia. And he said the network sees it as a Blackberry model that neither he nor I have heard of.
I have always wondered about some weird things. kernel version 3.4.0-ge8817f718-dirty [email protected]#1 which doesn't sound like something a SONY Engineer would write.
the IMEI doesn't calculate as valid with the Nuhn algorithm
The on screen IMEI and the embossed number on the tag match. Just the check digit doesn't check.
There is a plastic tab above the SIM slot that has embossed in gold - Prototype API
I tried the Repair Software option in Xperia Companion to see what would happen.
"No software found. Authentication failed. Software update or repair of prototype devices is only allowed from specific IP addresses."
And I live 50km from Waterloo. home of Blackberry. So i am thinking it escaped from the lab.
The first 6 digits of the IMEI seem to support that. If you can believe the internet.
So I was going to do a complete reset using Xperia Companion to go back to the stock ROM. But does that reset the kernel too? how much can it fix? Or would I be better to learn how to boot a nice stable ROM from here that has Android 5.0 or above. It is stuck now at 4.4.4 and won't update.
I have accessed the service menu and bootloader is unlocked.
It wasn't expensive, I have backed it up to the laptop and saved a lot to the SIM and microSD. data loss isn't an issue, but I would hate to brick it. It is a good phone, it isn't much broke right now.
Or does this device "as is" have value to someone who isn't me. i don't like destroying something out of ignorance. kernels, ROMS, etc from Blackberry developers for Android. Apr 12 2015 is the date on the kernel.
So my basic question is, if I hard reset it does it become a factory phone sold as a retail phone or a prototype brick. opinions?
Q2 - would I have better chance by learning show to use the tools to flash a stable custom ROM from here
Q3 - Anyone want to trade for another Xperia?
I can probably figure out how to upload screenshots if there is anything specific anyone wants to see that can help. Or i can key in what I see.
