Help!!! One Plus water damage - stuck on logo screen - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My one plus one went under running water for few seconds. I wiped the phone but later on it kept on running with a buzzing sound (like high speed fan rotating sound over CPU). I was not able to turned that off. Though the phone was "OFF", the noise and whatever it was continued. I tried everything including volume down + power etc. - no luck. I kept it like that till the battery died. I did not try to remove the battery for that but it seems like it is not as easy as pulling out. I let it dried and tried to get it working... when connected to the power cable, the phone stays on the 1+ and Android logo. Nothing happens. I can get into the fast mode but not sure what next. Any suggestions on recovering the phone? Is it possible to send it to the one plus support for water damage? The phone is not under warranty and I had bought it when it was launched.
Thanks in advance for suggestions.

HOW TO PREVENT WATER DAMAGE
Dropping an advanced piece of technology such as the Oneplus One in water should be treated as an emergency. There is a set procedure following such an incident which can help you prevent further water damage to the Oneplus One. Timing is important and if you are lucky, you may even escape unhurt. This guide provides a set of “first-aid” steps which are known to avoid water from crippling the Oneplus One. Remember: there is no magic solution. Disclaimer: I cannot be held responsible should the below guide fail to help you fix the Oneplus Oneafter it fell into water.
In case you drop the Oneplus One in water – turn it off immediately
1) Get the Oneplus One out of the water as soon as you can and switch off the Oneplus One by pressing the power button for 5 - 10 seconds until the Oneplus One is turned off.
Turning off the Oneplus Oneas swiftly as possible is the single most important step to prevent water damage. Keeping it off for good couple of days after the incident is as crucial. It is not water per se which damages the Oneplus One but the short-circuits which can be produced by the electricity running in the Oneplus One's circuit board.
2) Dry off the Oneplus One with a towel or a piece of fabric. Do NOT use a hair-dryer, nor place the Oneplus One in an oven as the excess heat will damage the Oneplus One beyond repair.
3) Grab a plastic bag, preferably a common zipper storage bag and fill it up with uncooked rice or alternatively, silica-gel packets. Place the Oneplus One in the plastic bag and make sure the device is fully immersed in the rice.
If you cannot get hold of rice or silica, you can alternatively place the Oneplus One in a very dry and well ventilated place (i.e. a room used to dry clothes equipped with a cold-air blow fan)
4) Take out as much air as possible from the bag and zip it up. If you do not have a zipper bag, use a regular one, or as a last resort, a bowl
5) Let the Oneplus One remain in the rice for at least 24 hours (preferably 48 hours) after which the device should have completely dried up
6) Trying to turn on an Oneplus One after a water incident always poses a risk of damage. Before you turn on your Oneplus One , please refer to the section below.

Coating problem

My day old Raphael is showing some coating problems. This morning I thought I saw a speck of dust. Tried to wipe it clean and the coating came off. Think what you like, but if you look at the two left circles you can see for yourself. No way a key or chain or whatever can do that. No damage just coating that isn/t there anymore at the size of <1mm. Send HTC an email, wondering what their reaction will be. Keep you posted!

Sorry to hear the bad luck, Good luck with HTC but I would not hold my breath
I would (for a one day device).
it is the anodize on the brushed aluminum... anodize is an electrochemical plating that is used to keep aluminum from oxidizing. either the aluminum wasn't prepped properly or the plating process was seriously flawed...or both. Anodize should hold up better but can easily be scratched by another metal...in aerospace, anodize is always followed up with a MIL spec primer and an optional top-coat of enamel.

I have got so this problem.Already have you got answer from HTC?
same problem here
I have the same problem.
Black coating comes off at different spots without any contact to sharp items (especially as my Touch PRO never goes into my pocket without it's case).
My phone is only 10 days old, and I asked 2call.nl to take it back and replace it.
They said I have to go to HTC directly, but HTC sais that the retailer is responsible for replacement for devices not older than 14days.
I feel like a ping pong ball, but agree to HTC and will put more preasure on 2call.nl.
They have to take it back by law, and I will not accept "go and try at HTC".
Will keep you posted.
I've found two other users experiencing same problems. One of them also bought it from 2call if I'm not mistaken. He got his replaced. Mine is from a different store. Bummer, I really don't feel for some pingpong. Keep you posted... Mail response: Give us a call. Yeah right so they can say its not our problem because its not 14 days old...
I have noticed that HTC has used factory "touch-up" which is basically a black sharpie marker to spot-cover some of the damaged finish where the anodize is damaged for whatever reason. You can really see this if you slide the keyboard out and look under the aluminum trim (edge that gets covered when the keyboard is closed). In the right light, the "touched-up" areas will have a distinct purple tint instead of black. Take a look, most units I have looked at have some degree of repair. Problem is, black marker comes off pretty quick and you are left with silver spots everywhere. Someone, in HTC manufacturing made a huge mistake and the build quality suffered tremendously... I love the hardware and the features of the TouchPro but the build quality is the worst I have seen... I am an aerospace engineer and I see this all the time. Just my 2 cents...
As long as the screen is okay, I wouldn't sweat it. Kinda like bumpers on cars, made for bumping
I was going to recommend a light touch with a permanent overhead marker pen, good thing about being black - didn't realise the manufacturers basically do the same thing...!
Remember back to when I was young and put a scratch on the front of my brand new Spectrum 48K - black marker to the rescue. I've even used them on the edge of book bindings that sometimes get scuffed...
From the photo though the long one seems more like a scratch, perhaps done at manufacture, and now the cover up has worn off. The points are what I would associate with non take up of the anodize.

Nexus 5 - Warped Back Cover / Swollen Battery?

I have a Nexus 5 that has run fantastic until just after the lollipop update. I began to think that somehow this update was responsible for several issues, one of them that the Qi charging had stopped working.
I read through all the threads on Qi charging.
Different chargers
Different USB cables
Different Wall Warts
People who had removed the cover, not getting it back on right.
Pressing to snap the cover contacts back into engagement.
None of it helped, that is until I decided the other night to push down on the whole phone while it was on the charger. I had to press pretty hard, but it would charge.
I noticed, that when I did this, it squeaked in the middle along the edge where the power button is, and there was a small gap between the case and body (not big enough for a finger nail to fit).
First I called Google today to see what they had to say. I got the "It's out of warranty. No idea what's wrong. Call LG".
So since it's not under warranty and they had no clue, I pulled the back cover. I expected a broken clip, bulged battery, something. I couldn't find anything that would press out on the case, and all the clips looked intact. (Pictures in a later post, don't have another phone / camera at the moment.)
I put it back together, made sure the clips were all lined up and snapped home properly. Same gap, same squeak when I squeeze the middle edge below the power button.
If I ONLY squeeze this portion together though, it doesn't seem to fix the Qi charging issue. I have to push down on the whole phone.
Looking for your input. I see Amazon has the back covers in stock. But I don't want to buy one just to find out that it's the battery. (I know, not much help without pictures. I'll get them posted tonight).
Thanks!
-Matt
If it is buldging it is probably the battery. I'd replace that.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I didn't think it was bulging, but I have two of these, and I can feel the thing through the cover on this one.
So... where's the best source for a new battery?

]Hello - I dropped phone in the sink and pulled it out IMMEDIATELY.:crying:Literally two seconds. The phone was still on, was dried and left in rice for 4 days. Took out sim and memory card. only the bottom half of the phone was in contact with water.
Now the phone will charge, but the screen is not responsive, and going ballistic notifications flashing, bluetooth turning on and off, alarms suddenly being set, LED switching on and off, browser pages appearing - all this whilst the phone is not being touched.
I have looked very very closely at what I think are the water damage indicators, right on the led, and they are yellow on top and orange on the bottom. No sign of pink at all. Also have compared them to my husbands A9 and they are identical. Is there any hope :crying::crying:
Anyone ???
yes, that is the water damage indicators, it is really red, which is a sign of water damage. If you can charge it and do other things like, let's say, connect it to a computer, then it may just be a screen problem, but don't take my word for it, it is possible that there is something else wrong. You can certainly try it but I'm not sure if the screen is the only problem without the device in my hands to assess the damage. I would say there is a little hope for it but your best bet is to either buy a new one or get a replacement under warranty
Also, if your screen experiences "jitters" where it randomly maps finger touches that is definitely a digitizer problem, which is screen related, I'm not sure if this is the problem u face or not, I'm going off of your description of the damage. Leave the screen on and watch it for a few, if it does this then that is certainly a sign of a damaged screen
Unfortunately based on your description you have very little chance of fixing it without replacing at least one part of the phone, it may just be one or it may be multiple
Sorry if this offers little help, but good luck anyways
shaking camera

Look Where the flashlight is, there is 2 circles, on on top of the other. The top one is yellow, and the bottom on should be a light red/pink. If the bottom one is orange/dark red the phone has water damage. If this is the case you should take it to a professional and see what needs to be replaced, as I'm not sure exactly what should be fixed. Hope this helps and good luck
OK, phone went off to repair last week. was not holding out much hope as I thought they would be able to tell that it had been dropped in water and therefore not repairable under warranty.
LCD replaced, and that is it. I am delighted !! Working perfectly.

That is very good, thankfully it was only a screen replacement. Good luck and don't drop it into anymore water lol

Motorola Nexus 6 Water Test

Hello.
First and foremost, excuse me if this is not the right place to post this topic; I'm not quite acquainted with the website.
Introduction
I'm quite a Nexus fan. You see, I live in Lebanon (Middle East), and Nexus phones aren't popular here. I've come to love the Nexus 5, although one dunk in the water cursed its life forever (and is how I found these forums, some few years ago). After multiple repairs, it always brought up some screen issues, even after changing screens and whatnot... But that's irrelevant to this thread. After my Nexus 5 had died, I fancied the Motorola Nexus 6 (MN6), which is not really sold anywhere here at all, unless you're lucky enough to find someone who has one and is willing to sell it. I got mine from Amazon (which does not deliver to Lebanon. I had a relative visiting from the US who brought me the phone with her) at the risk of not being able to find spare parts in the case of any damage. So, you can imagine my concern when I've accidentally dropped my phone in a rocky beach, last night.
There has been some controversy regarding the "extent" to which the MN6 is waterproof. There are, obviously, the popular dunk-in-clear-clean-water videos on Youtube, as well as some rare reports of permanent damage from salt-water, such as the one that follows, from android-central forums.

Whatever the case, the MN6's water resistance feature is only designed to help with accidents, or, at least, it isn't guaranteed to protect it from being submerged in water for too long (not to mention salty water).
Last night, I was out, drinking on a rocky beach, when on the whim of tipsy ideas I decided to try to catch a crab on some lone rock that was resisting the waves. It was very dark, so I had been using my phone's flash climbing down. I eventually turned off the flasher and, as I was putting it back in my pocket, it fell from my tipsy, clumsy hands and slid down into the water, between some rocks. It was until a friend came down the rocks with his flashing phone that I found it (it would have been funny if his fell in too, wouldn't it?), so it's been in the water for some minutes at least.
This is obviously salty water. Perhaps a bit acidic too, as beach water in Lebanon is waste-polluted.
"Water Test"
The phone has been in dunked in salt-water for at least a few minutes. When I took it out, the screen seemed to be working perfectly. I didn't bother testing all of its features, because, at the heed of precaution, I decided that the safest thing to do is to turn the phone off (I did so by using the touch screen, so it was working). Salt water is more conductive to electricity, so short-circuiting is a concern.
The fall itself could have been worrying, as the phone dramatically slid screen-first down some rocks before it fell in a hole between some, that is about 1-2 feet underwater. I like to think that the screen protection helped (I don't know what it is), as well as the body cover. Below is the body cover I use (I don't mean to market it, just letting you guys know).
amazon.com/i-BlasonDual-Kickstand-Release-Holster-Motorola/dp/B00OGXQ3LC/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1498191309&sr=8-17&keywords=motorola%2Bnexus%2B6%2Bcover&th=1
I've kept the phone in my pocket since last night, until I woke up a while ago, and placed it on a table in my balcony, waiting for the sunrise to reach it. Then, I took out the cover, and there were water marks on the back of the phone; evidence enough that the phone is still soaked on the inside. There were no scratch marks on the phone whatsoever, nor cracks in the screen.
I've decided to let the phone bath (pun unintended) in the sunlight for a while before turning it on. It's 7:33 AM now, so I might wait till noon or the afternoon before I turn it on. I will test the phone and let you guys know if it's functional. In the meanwhile, if you have any advice, I would be very happy to hear it.
Thank you for reading.

ZeroLemon 5000mah Battery Case Review

Full disclosure, I was given this unit to review and give my unbiased opinion of the product. **Lots of pictures incoming**
Okay, lets start. I've used several ZeroLemon battery packs on different phones and this arrived packaged like all of them. The usual instruction cards in a plain white box. I wasn't sure what to expect when I opened the box, but I was glad to see this wasn't some crazy three part case that needed to be put together like the old one I had for an LG phone. If you've ever used a Mophie, you will be familiar with the way this case looks and feels.

I plugged the case in and charged it up, it took about an hour to fully charge and I grabbed my phone and slapped it in the case. This is a one piece case, the top is quite flexible so you start at the bottom with the USB connector and then pull the top up a little and slip the phone in. The phone went in easily enough and you reverse the process to remove it. Pull the top up and push the phone out from the bottom. The case obviously adds some bulk, I mean, it's a 5000mah battery. It has a very nice matte finish so no finger prints is a plus. You'll notice that my edge to edge screen protector which I've not gotten around to getting rid of yet isn't playing very nice with this (or any case).
There is a deep well in the back but it wasn't difficult to reach the finger print scanner and it works fine. I did notice using gestures to pull the notification tab down was normal, raising it was a bit tricky due to the bulk of the case, but after figuring it out, it works fine. There is a small learning curve. The case does have a slight lip at the top and bottom to protect the screen when face down and the sides of the case are higher than the Samsung Rugged Case but do not interfere with the edge at all. I'm not a huge fan of the buttons to be honest. They are pretty flat, they work well enough, but they aren't exactly easy to find. The cutouts are all perfect and it's not terribly difficult getting the S-Pen out. I did not need an adapter to use my 3.5mm headphones.
Battery performance. So I charged the case fully and went to work with my phone at about 40% battery. I turned the case on at 5:40pm and let it do it's thing. Its not a fast charging battery, obviously, but after about 75 minutes I was at 80% charge (Where I pull my phone off the charger). I still had two bars lit up on the back of the case and the third was flashing when I powered it off. (Hold the button down for 3 seconds to turn the case on and off). I need to do more testing, but I'm sure I could charge my phone to full and have a little left over to top off without issue.
Final thoughts. Battery cases are the sort of thing that I usually have for situations when I am traveling or I am going to be out in the field for 12 hours or more. This won't replace my Samsung Rugged Case as my daily driver, but it's certainly going to be useful when I am flying or working long hours so it will always be charged and in my backpack. I'd recommend this case if you like the Mophie, especially, because its about 65 dollars cheaper and does exactly the same thing. Great job on this one ZeroLemon, maybe make the buttons stick out a bit more if you ever do a revision!
