Hi guy's...as almost people alerady knows the LG G4 and a few days ago the G3 already have the Marshmallow 6.0 update, i already have it on my G3 and so far i love it...the biggest difference between 5.0/5.1 to 6.0 from LG is the UI, we get new UI and the notification icons on top of screen are smaller and more beautiful as some a game optimizer setting, camera now have slow motion video recording like G Flex2 and the clock on lockscreen now only hours are show and nothing of circle around the digital hours and of course the new 6.0 functions and battery now last for more 4/5 hours!
But, i own the G Flex2 too, and for logic G4 is first to receive it, and G Flex2 is second since they are launched later than G3 but i dont understand why LG launch the MM for G3 first!
Anyone know when we gonna get the 6.0 Marshmallow update for G Flex2?
Thanks
Hi, I asked today from something like 15 facebook LG pages about 6.0 update and bootloader unlocking and have got some answers now:

Interesting. If the tool is available we should have it, so it probably doesn't exist and they just mixed up G Flex 2 with G4

i see a post in GSMArena with official update list from all brands...and G Flex2 is on the list...
i dont know if they are official or not but is from the later december last year so...i dont belive since may to december this could be a rumor, if they are they dont last for so long time...
let's wait and see!
yea, I'm already waiting for the M update and I was hoping we will get it before the G3, however...
btw, is that an X SP in your sig, @copy2050 ?
Im waiting bootloader unlock before change the phone...
I dont care about official updates if bootloader is free...
I compile whatever I want
So confused, some say yes we get MM others no. Some say bootloader may be unlockable eventually and others say it's never gonna happen. Just got the Flex 2 and selling G3 and I can live with whatever happens but it's crazy trying to figure out anything. Currently I am on ZV9 and unrooted deciding whether or not to root the phone. Aaaaack, going crazy.....

It is highly unlikely that there will be BL unlock for this phone. And Marshmallow for Flex2 - highly likely.

Like I see, LG is not a user and dev friendly company. If they wouldn't give us a update, it would be polite to unlock the bootloader. About 6.0 update I think that snapdragon 810 is a party pooper, it's more time/money consuming to develop cos G4 and V10 and maybe more models use the same 808 chip. But let me be wrong and LG will honor our devices, or this will be my first and a last LG phone I'll own

Well according to one of the slovak android sites,it was already confirmed that G Flex 2 will get Android 6.0,however the time when exactly is not sure. But i would keep eye on polish market, they get updates always much sooner than rest of the world.

Re. Bootloader unlock it is very unlikely having this sorted. But if any of you know a capable dev, then let's get funds together. I am ok to give 20 to 50 USD. If a 100 people can do the same someone might get interested.

I just switched to the G Flex 2 from Windows Phone, figuring there'd be custom roms available, but...uh, I'm rummaging through the forums and not seeing anything. The phone is okay--I've rooted it and removed the crapware from the factory, but that's not really ideal. I was hoping for a vanilla Android ROM. What's the word?

Seriously? LG locked the bootloader? What a bunch of pricks. As if it wasn't bad enough to have to deal with the awful Android UI, having no custom roms sucks even more, LOL.
Guess I should've gone Samsung after all. Crap.

I thought I could get used to it, but it's just nowhere near as polished as Windows Phone 8.1. The reason I switched was because Windows 10 mobile sucks giant balls, but what I didn't realize is that it sucks because it's so much like Android now. Windows 10 Mobile is like Android with a cheap live tiles skin over top. Not half as nice as 8.1.
Sigh. I guess I'm gonna have to sell this and find something else.
Id check the play store. Bet you will find a launcher to enjoy.
i emailed LG Customer Support and ask if in future they unlock the bootloader and when g flex 2 will get the marshmallow update. Surprising, they call me its sayz LG does't unlock BL for users safe. And they confirm that marshmallow update will come on february / march 2016.
Saw a G4 Thread about Technical Steps for bootloader unlock so created this thread for discussion/timepass
CAUTION : EXTREME CONSPIRACIES AHEAD ! viewer may also see SOME TECHNICAL TERMS that will kill your brain FOREVER!
btw:
Sorry for posting this bulls**t but this is my current "Theory"..
LG will never give out bootloader unlock (They never have).. Until the G3 we had bump but due to an infamous reason it got patched up since lollipop.. The only hope is to find out an exploit that can either reset BL-lock or a vulnerability to bypass bootloader-check (for flashing custom recovery/boot).
The thing is they didnt even include fastboot .. Well this is indeed my first LG device .. (my friend has a G3).. but why no fastboot ??
-also it seems that they probably already knew about the SD810 overheat issue and hence H950 released in April was equip with 3GB RAM to tackle the SoC issue to certain point ..
Again at&t is a certain villain to bootloader-unlock (including many carriers in US)..
My Theory also revolves around the G4 too..
-The 815 model was given bootloader unlock and it void the warranty according to LG (but EU laws somehow gave the EUR customers the warranty)..
-The thing is I believe LG were well aware for the Bootloop issue in the G4 in certain lots and were planning to not replacing the device due to unlock bootloader..(I am a person that believe in Conspiracies so much that I believe that my real body is attached to a machine all everything around me is an illusion created by the Illuminati).
Personally :
Need a BL-Unlock for custom kernel and custom recovery(TWRP) rather than a Custom Rom (I love stock Custom Roms though)..
SO LET'S BEGIN : (Any ideas for possible exploits are welcome)

Since i know the G Flex2 will have Marshmallow update soon i dont hope so much we will have a Bootloader unlock by LG, this device is nothing for LG because the "unfamous/fake" overheat processor, and since then many users dont buy devices with SD810 and this is why LG put the SD808 in G4 and V10, the Nexus 6P reallity is different because is a SD810 rev.3 (v.3 what you wanna call it!).
So, even my LG G3 have a bump (and not a official BL Unlock) to give TWRP acess and flash custom ROM's/Kernel's (i already have one but sell it when i brought my GFlex2).
Things for GFLex2 is bad, really bad...i love the device a LOT, i wont sell it since LG dont will make any more GFLex2 sequel and this will be a unique phone for a long time and i think this deserve a lot more enfort by LG to give support to this device, since they even didnt make the 18 months since theyr launch...

I never really understood this issue. My G Flex 2 get just as hot when gaming as my previous Xperia Z1, Lumia 930. The HTC One X I had was even hotter to hold while gaming. My iPhone 4 was alot better but still pretty hot.

Sure you dont notice the overheat on GF2 because LG do the homework in the updates they release for this device....but when on VR apps the device really get hot, i dont track the temp but sure is above 70 degrees! i dont play a lot on this, i dont play extreme GPU games, just simple games and in that case the device temp is normal.
I am sure if someday the bootloader get's unlocked there will be some exeletn kernel's to solve a lot of problems with the device....
I find the overheating thing bullcrab. I play Mortal Kombat X, which is a really heavy game on android, and yes it does get hot, but never drops in performance. I think LG doesnt want to unlock the bootloader because they are scared people will mess with the CPU and GPU and ruin the reputation? Its really a shame, because every android i ever had, had a custom rom or atleast root. I bought the flex2 because of the SD810, and slap a custom clean rom on it. But looks like it will never come out. Really hate the LG software on it too. Hopefully the marshmellow update will bring lots of good things.

No no it does indeed overheat but starts throttling by limiting the cpu freq and disabling some cores
However it's still lag free and the heat is like that of my s4 i9500

Verizon (or any other cell company) has no vested interested in giving root access to it's customers. The phones are loaded with crap ware to data mine what you are doing. That is valuable data to Verizon and they are not about to lose that income stream if they can help it.
I've had previous Verizon phones with the same "locked down" problems. Even though the phone would play MP3, etc; that made it so you HAD to buy any music you wanted to play through their Verizon store. Outrageous when I have 250GB of music archive I want to choose from.
I held my nose and went back to Verizon because we are planning to move to a rural area and Verizon was the only company that had any coverage. Stuck again in locked down hell.
Someone PLEASE find a way to root these phones!

Root the V10 with bootloader locked and Android 6.0 Marshmallow is impossible...
The only method to root V10 with bootloader locked is on 5.1.1 Android Lollipop with some kind of dump, i know its possible because when i have my G Flex 2 i have bootloader locked and i root it in 5.1.1, but when update to 6.0 Marshmallow i cant root so, if you want root for now you need to be in 5.1.1.
We will get android 7 for sure but i also do not expect it before the end of the year. They will first focus on G5 which most probably will get it around september/october and after that will work on V10 and G4. Android 7 have some good new features like the multitasking and advanced doze mode but frankly my V10 is working perfectly even now with marshmallow so i am in no rush to get the update as soon as possible. Lets hope that we will get it as christmas present before end of the year.
Outside of vulkan I couldn't care less about nougat.
In fact I think it should be called 6.1 not 7.0, there is nothing interesting about it multiple windows? This has been around for awhile if the app supports it.. My note 3 had multi window support and so does the LG v10 it's pretty useless
Sent from my LG-H901 using XDA-Developers mobile app
It should also be noted that marshmallow doze features can be enhanced with 3rd party apps such as ForceDoze which can decrease the time it takes for doze to kick in when the screen is off.

LG Android Nougat Update
LG has earned pretty good reputation among devs for updating their flagships faster than anyone else to the latest Android version. Last update also, LG updated their flagship, LG G4 to Marshmallow soon after the update was released for the Nexus devices. We can expect that for the current flagship LG G5 and the previous flagship LG G4 with LG Android 7.0 Nougat Update.
Here is the list of all devices which will get LG Android Nougat Update :
LG G5
LG G4
LG V10
These are the devices which are confirmed to get the Nougat Update from LG, we don’t have any confirmation till now. We’ll be updating the post when it will be available.
Also, LG’s updates are generally lagged by the carriers in US, so the LG Android Nougat Update timeline may vary from different carriers like Verizon, Sprint, etc. And we can expect the updates to come to the devices listed above just after 2 months from release of Android Nougat.
Long story short, at least we're getting it. After rumors of the V20 coming out already many people believed LG would forego the update to pressure people into buying the V20. We know now, that's not the case.
I for one would really like the Nougat update. Split screen might have existed since a long time ago but official support from Google means wider adoption. Vulkan of course is another must have feature along with the improved Doze. I also love the interface seen on the V20 including the notification/quick toggle shade. The V20 also allows the second screen toggles to work whilst the main screen is on (sound, wifi, flash, camera etc.), something that the V10 does not allow. Hopefully this will be implemented as well along with other second screen improvements like allowing all notifications to go on the second screen.
The doze improvements can be brought to marshmallow via ForceDoze which can make doze kick in immediately when the screen is off.
Multi screen I have never found particularly useful for even big screen phones, there is simply not enough room to legitimately work with. Great for tablets nearly useless for phones.
Correct me of I am wrong but The hardware has to support vulkan in order to take advantage of it right? Pretty useless unless you've got a newer phone that can use it.
Nougat to me sounds more like a minor update (should be 6.1 not 7). It sounds like the most lackluster update to android yet.

LG G5 F700L Korean version has got Nougat 7.0. I am from India and I got this update via LG bridge software,
I do have LG V10 but still no luck with LG bridge. I manually downloaded MM kdz file from LG site and flashed.
It was quite unfortunate though, as back when Nougat was released last year, LG initially listed G4 and V10 to receive Nougat. I just hope with the re-affirmation by them that they will test the firmware well and not do a botched job of the Nougat build. Since it is highly unlikely we are getting the next O software by Google, let's hope we atleast get the latest Nougat 7.1/7.2.
question: I love and hate this phone...camera is great in steady shot, but when fast focus is needed it fails. When I take pics of kids, lots of pic. came out blurry, now, what do you think, can Nougat fix this or it's just slow hardware?

i think Nougat doesnt fix what you want, only thing Nougat will bring to us most likely is the new UI from G5/V20 or G6, some doze optimizations, multi-window will be more friendly and nothing more...
hope they can fix the Hi-Fi DAC to be used with the speaker and not only with the earphones, hope to less system storage ocupied by the system and more to the user, and really hope the GPS will be fixed too because my V10 fixing time of GPS is fast but, every 2/3 minuts lost signal and this is really what have dissapointing me in this device!
...and (i dont belive this will happen but) i hope they remove the sh1tty beauty mode for the front facing camera, this make the photos look ugly and have 0 quality!
Since this probably will be the last OS to our V10 i think users deserve unlockable bootloaders and then users can cook their own rom's and kernels (this is a dream for me since day 1 of have the phone in my hands, since july last year!).

While I would like to assume that the Moto x pure edition will get it, this article seems to be an opinion piece with little or no supporting info other than his ramblings and definitely nothing from Lenovo/Moto.

Nice. Another garbage site with no credible info. I love how in their comments this "Motorola" author is answering questions on wether or not so and so device will get Nougat, like they're 100% sure.
Would love to see the source. Anyone can take a guess like this and have a good chance of getting it right. What got me: The G4 line "might" get the update?! WT... The phone was practically just released so unless Lenovo just really wants to destroy the Moto product line, it would be stupid not to release N for the phone.

The g4s are garbage and I spoke to a rep today and he told me to stay away from them haha a Lenovo rep said this! Bought one yesterday and the screen was all glitchy took it back today traded it out and paid the difference for the plus and same thing before even leaving the parking lot. Finally got pissed and said screw it and got a moto x pure style again. Loved this phone the first time I had it and love it now! Guernetee it gets nuoget and if it dosent.. well.. there will ALWAYS be Roms haha lol. But what I was trying to get at with the g4 phones is that's more than likely the reason they "might" get it.. I'd doubt it though honestly. Lenovo ruined the Motorola line. Ya the z is bad ass but come on man. The pure style was the best phone they had made in YEARS! Besides the Nexus 6. I'm super disappointed in the joke Lenovo has made!
Reasons to believe End of September to mid-October is the best hope to get nougat for MXPE:
- it coincides with quarterly security updates for this device
- it's about the same time difference from Google releasing marshmallow last year.
- it skipped 6.0.1 so it has just time to play with N previews.
- it's the period when the new Moto flagship will be released unlocked worldwide. That means these devices will be getting an update quickly (inclusion Verizon already offered on US) to boost sales. But also updating its previous flagship would convince customers to buy the newest flagship. I believe that sales of Moto Z international will not be good if our device does not get an update on the framework i mentioned. Didn't we all by this device because we thought it would be updated quickly?
- Finally, I believe all the hype in the media that mentions Motorola as a company that is expected to deliver fast nougat update is financed by Motorola itself. While they won't give us directly a timeframe, they use media to keep up the sales of their new and numerous line of devices. Not to forget that Moto maker still has stocks of MXPE which they want to sell, but strangely have not lowered the price since mother's day...

Skipping the 6.0.1 update does not mean they were working on Nougat. They couldn't until the source code was released.
Wouldn't it make sense not to update an older phone until later to entice people to buy the latest and greatest device with the N update?

My line of thought is simple: their new flagship costs almost twice it's predecessor, or even three times if you get a certain alluring mod. The only way to convince a buyer spend more money is to assure that expense is worth it on a longer term. Long term means continuity of updates in this business. But who will be convinced of that if Moto ditched our device before it reached a year (thinking latest update for us was the May security patches)..
You already have fears of not getting updates, probably because we didn't get 6.0.1! Would you think of buying a Z Droid if you know your mxpe would not get N (even if you could afford it)?

There is some logic there and it is a theory used in the world of business. On the same token, my theory of updating the MXPE later is also a practice by businesses. Now it will just depend on what theory of business Lenovo decided to use.

I would think that Google gives out the source code to large OEMs before they release it to the general public so some of the later Q3 devices can all run the new version. Also, Moto built their reputation on relatively quick software updates for their supported phones, and I don't think Lenovo would mess with that image too much as to not hurt current sales.

Oh well, i think you misunderstood me. I'm not saying that the Z will be upgraded after MXPE. I actually think once the Z will be available worldwide it will get the N update to boost sales. I'm only saying that it would be difficult to convince people to buy an expensive phone unless they have a guarantee it will be a long investment. Updating quickly the XPE should give that guarantee that even Z will be maintained after its one year anniversary.

That motog3 site is just an pile of advertisements and SEO bait. It's not legit.
After dealing with Moto/Lenovo support a few times, my impression is that Lenovo is struggling to appear like they know what they're doing. Their repair program is musical chairs, tech support doesn't know what's going on, and they haven't been able to maintain the software. Even if they've outsourced Nougat, I doubt they've purchased any followup bug fixes.
I just saw that CM14 7.0 dropped for the Android One, Oneplus 3 and a few others today. That should help things along a bit. Once it exists, as it now does, it usually makes it's way to other devices pretty quickly. :fingers-crossed:
i want ask ... i don't know if my question is stupid or not LooL
if lenovo dont include our MOTO X phone to update list
can the Rom developer here make custom ROM with N Update? or they need something from lenovo (like permission or code) ?

But you should believe @Zekial When Moto, was a Google Company, and not official bought by lenovo, they update their smartphones very fast, Nexus 5 receive Lollipop after Moto X . Now Moto sucks, only this week in germany they update their phones to 6.0.1 (security update from may ).
Pure will be updated for N, when is the problem, could be this year or in the next.

Android P has been released in south korea and they haven't started even global beta for android P. I am more concerned about LG G7thinq update to android P in India. Guys do you have any news ? Or predictions
Sometimes mid or end of March if we are lucky. It might even be rolled out in April judging by how they rolled updates earlier.
It took them more then 3 months to roll out 4k 60 fps support for Indian model.
I wonder how companies like OnePlus can deliver updates quickly.

because they have less in quantity but more motivated stuff of developers, less corruption and bureaucracy than large giants like lg mobile. and yet 1+ has just 2 models, in fact one model per year cycle. it's far easier to update 1 model due to 1 SoC support instead of 4-5 Soc as have LG
I think CEO of LG Mobile still lives in XX century and thinks of smartphones as of like TV sets, which don't need monthly security patches.
OnePlus releases 2 phones a year similar to LG. LG also releases 2 flagship phones a year(not counting entry and budget) with same SOCs. Meanwhile LG didn't even update 1 phone, OnePlus successfully pushed updates to even last year's models. Even Samsung pushed Android pie to flagship's.
I love my G7 but I might buy a pixel 2 as a second phone just to stay in the Android update circle.
Even Samsung has update the s9 and Note 9. The s8 beta is live. There is no excuse for bull**** like that.
And after research I found out that it's the same with their old smartphone.
They have no place selling "flagships" if they are not supported.
Yesterday I saw an update coming I thought it was Pie sadly it was the December security patch. This is unnaceptable.
The bigest problem with LG is that they have so many diffrent firmwares for diffrent regions of the world. Why? Just an international model will be ok. Why so many versions of G7 for example? This fragmentation is the key for Bankruptcy!

Yes correct. Lg chose hardestway to implement software upgrade to smartphone. They don't have community where we can discuss bugs and update related query.
I contacted LG service center India and asked about pie update. They said it will be rolled out after v40 is launched in India. Estimate they gave was March or April.
This is unbelievable, they have update ready and just that they don't want to roll it off before their next phones release. This is straight a rip-off of consumers. LG should stop their carelessness attitude.
Incase if anyone wants to get in touch with LG (1800 315 9999 or 1800 180 9999)

I'm starting to feel the same. It was this or the p20 pro and the Huawei was sold out for two weeks until the end of the sale. I could of gotten a pixel or whatever but I had some bad luck with my last Google phone so yeah.... Idk the phone is good, but like seriously, BTS??? Why sell this in Canada? That "smart"world store is sad. Some of the fonts and stuff are ok, but like, if they put so much effort into regionlocking these phones, they could at least region lock the content in the lg store. Glad that "benefit" is over.
Definitely this is my first and last LG device, I had two options while buying this phone(G7 or op6).Since I was using one plus device for last 4 years I decided to go with LG and the phone is good but they screw us in updates. What makes them slow?. Are they not interested in Indian market.Lets trend this update issue by using #lgg7update #myfirstandlastlgphone.
My two cents is that the next version to get pie will be the EM and I'm highly doubtful it will happen before march/april
I agree that I have a Nexus hangover for quick updates but this doesn't mean that it takes a company more then 6 months to roll updates. It is totally not acceptable for a flagship phone.
I got convinced to buy this phone after watching pocket now review. Guess they get paid by LG for praising the phone.
Sure this phone have a good hardware but software updates are also necessary. Google re engineered Android with People Treble for faster updates, but it's is of no use for LG. Kudos to OnePlus, essential to release updates quickly. Even for Samsung who completely reimagined UI released update before LG.
People who feel the same please tell your friends and family to not to but LG.

You can always buy Apple
This is a great phone for the price. The best audio ever.
So chill, you will have pie. Or you can flash the pie kdz. Or you can root and flash AOSP pie .
You have so many choices and you just wait and blame LG.
XDA is for people who want to tinker with their phones .

You should have been on the stage where LG CEO announced the update center to deliver software updates to tell potential customers like me and others to buy Apple. I spent my money and it's my right to curse LG if they are not delivering.
This post is under Guides, News, and Discussions and it seems like we are not breaking any rules. Also, LG is pretty bad with open source community, so there is nothing to tinker around LG phones and thus we discuss.
You can contribute to the community ...
We have unlocked bootloader, treble, kernel sources.
You can do it yourself if you really want :silly:
