updated to android 6.0 can i go back to a custom rom android 5.1,1 - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i need to go back

yes you can. simply flash any custom rom u like..

Did you find any issues in MM?

Don't do it. First of all check if the bootloader got updated. Newer bootloader won't accept 5.1.1. If you updated via OTA you can't go back. Only option is CM13.

RLS 16 to [Rom][d2vzw][Official][Kitkat - 4.4.2] - Gummy - Nightly's

I'm currently running Hyperdrive RLS 16 and want to know if it is possible to go to [Rom][d2vzw][Official][Kitkat - 4.4.2] - Gummy - Nightly's?
Do I just need to follow the instructions or is there more files I need to change within the phone? Basically, I want to know if it will be a simple transition.
Thank You!
:crying:
You should be just fine. Just install like any other ROMs. Don't forget to wipe Data. Make sure you update your recovery to the latest version first BEFORE FLASHING since gummy is Kitkat. This is very important.

2.4..3.1 is the latest for Verizon S3, where did you get TWRP 2.4.4.0 from? That said, KitKat works on TWRP 2.4.3.1 definitely, I'm using it now for SlimKat.

I'm mistaken...badly. You need to be on TWRP 2.6.3.1 in order to flash any KitKat rom. That's what I'm on. KitKat roms will not flash on anything before TWRP 2.6.3.1.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4
Yes TWRP 2.6.3.1 is required to flash any KitKat ROM. If you use anything prior you could actually screw up your partituons

Funny I had the same question..
I was going to pose the same question.. Ironically I'm on Hyperdrive RLS 16 also and am either going to the last carbon nightly or maybe something 4.4 ?
My question was do I need to flash the MF1 firmware, but I guess not ?
I loved carbon when I used it before ( last was v 1.7 stable ) but had to flash to stock/TW base to flash my phone to PagePlus and TW is waaaay to clunky for me I can't stand it anymore !!
Edit: Would the new PhilZ work for a KitKat rom ? the new official one ?

You do need the VRBMF1 firmware installed. You do not need the VRUCML1 firmware installed. PhilZ recovery should work, idk firsthand cuz I use TWRP.

Clean flashing is recommended if you don't want to have any issues.
But you're free to dirty flash over an existing nightly if you don't want to clean flash. However, any issues you get are your own issues and should not be reported in the Gummy thread.

That kind of sucks. I'll probably just stick with the most current nightly till they come out with an official one.
Thanks for the response.

It's in the OP.. In the AT&T folder. There's no lollipop TOT. You'll need to ota update to get it after flashing

Like I said the OP... If you follow the guide youd be stock. This method puts you back to 100% stock.

I would like to add , if you want to be rooted make sure after installing KitKat stock to root and then to install a custom stock based Rom like Cloudy or any of the stock based Roms here in XDA, if you install all the updates for lollipop you Won't be able to root and you'll have to go back to KitKat to root. I talk from experience.

Bad advice is not good. Lollipop is easily rooted.

If you are OK with keeping TWRP and root, you can go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/development/rom-lg-d850-20f-lollipop-5-0-1-extras-t3052041
or here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/development/rom-20f-stock-rom-debloated-t3059610
It will be much easier to flash one of these than to do the full stock restore back to kitkat

Can't flash new OS on T-Mobile note 5

Hi everyone. Here is the problem. See, right now, I have teamwin recovery 3......sonething. 3.something. Anyways, I use darthstalker rom version 6. I want to upgrade to version 7 but....... Whoever I try to update or to even install any OS, all I get is boot loops or a galaxy logo with a red kernel message on top. It won't flash a new OS of any kind. For now my note 5 works fine on darthstalker 6 with sky kernel but I am dieing to see darthstalker 7. Any ideas luvs? When in recovery, am I supposed to mount something or unmount that's causing the trouble? I'm lost
darthstalker 6 is Lollipop, darthstalker 7 is marshmallow. you have to use a marshmallow kernel. use SkyHigh v3.4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...pment/kernel-skyhigh-mm-6-0-1-kernel-t3358982
Where's the download link luv?
I must be an idiot but I can't find the download load link to the kernel anywhere.

You need to update to MM official first. Backup everything you need on your device. Follow the instructions in the MM Update/root thread in the general section.

How do I update to mm official?
My phone isn't hooked to tmobile. I just use it as an Internet phone. It was my moms and she gave it to me. I use it on WiFi. She rooted it for me and I out on darthstalker 6 myself. I also don't have a computer anymore so whatever I dodo, I only have my recovery and whatever I can achieve in the note 5 without a PC.

Follow this guide and you'll be rooted stock with TWRP. Once done, made a backup of it just in case you need something to fall back on. You can then flash whatever MM rom you want for the T variant.

Lollipop rom with Marshmallow modem and bootloader?

I'm currently running a stock OK4 rom on my Sprint S5 and would like to update the bootloader and modem if possible. The latest one I've been able to find is PCA. Am I able to flash the G900P_PCA_Stock_Modem+Bootloader.tar.md5 with my OK4 rom? I used to know this, but now I don't remember.

LoL, but hes right. If you want to run custom ROMs, you cant do it in the PCA build
I did run a custom pca rom for a bit, found out I lost my hotspot and wifi calling because I didn't take the ota and then root, which I was too lazy for but looks like I should do it at this point lol

you can run a custom mm ROM built on the PCA baseband, but afaik you cant run a lp or previous custom rom when the PCA baseband is Odin installed on your device. Best bet is to install OK4 via Odin, root, install twrp and ROM from there. OK4 isnt as limited as PCA

Roll back to LOLLIPOP available?

I'm in the process of temp root to extract boot img for a dev that still does work for our phone. He'll most likely use that to continue development for AutoRec but after I'm done with that I think I'm about done with having nothing available in terms of software on Marshmallow. Considering rolling back to Lollipop. Is it gonna be a pain and are the resources readily available?

I don't think there's any antiroll back. But you can't rollback to lollipop. You'd have to roll back to KitKat and OTA update to lollipop as long as your using an AT&T sim.

You seem like you know you're stuff so let me ask you something. If there's no perm root for Marshmallow why are people still making Marshmallow ROMs? What's the benefit in running a custom ROM with no recovery, backups or root permission?
you NEED root and recovery to load custom roms. people make marshmallow roms because they're tried/true/stable. the OTA updates happen in stages. at&t has no single large update that brings you from KK straight to MM, you have a couple updates in-between though not sure how many... at least one!
@hyelton - is there no root for stock MM yet or do I have to downgrade using LG tool in windows then root?
